The Doctor I have been seeing is great, but the front desk staff needs a good overhaul. They lack any kind of customer service skills. The person I believe who is the manager a middle aged women is the worse.

I had a terrible experience here with the extremely rude Dr. Mulligan. I'd give this place no stars if I could.

I took my 84 yo mother there for a laser procedure. We live in West Seattle so it was a convenient choice since my mother is disabled. Dr. Mulligan came in with a scowl, and when my mom said, "can I have a smile?" Dr. Mulligan responded "I'm not a monkey in a circus, I don't perform on command." THIS IS AN EXACT QUOTE. Okay, not a great start but I was going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Ultimately he was unable to perform the routine, partly because my mom freaked out at having to have a lens placed on her eye. He didn't ever explain what he needed, and didn't try to calm her down. Finally he gave up. After we left the office, my mom was left with the feeling that she had done something wrong.

To make matters worse, when I called the office a week later to request her records so they could be sent to a new doctor, they asked me why. I told them. And interestingly, the records never did get sent to the new office.

Btw, a more patient, kinder doctor did perform the procedure a few weeks later without a hitch.

Please don't subject yourself or your loved ones to the kind of treatment this place provides.

If you don't mind navigating through one hassle after another just to get a pair of glasses, then this is your place.

Recently tried to get two glasses (one for reading, the other for regular use.) Not a single thing turned out right:
For the second time, Dr. Meyer's prescription was too strong; the computer glasses came in with both a damaged lens AND frame; the second pair not only had too powerful a lens but the weight of the frames almost broke my nose.

Then came all the hassles with the refund. I'm still waiting! I wish I could say these were just isolated problems. But I've been coming to this clinic for several years, and I always seem to run into some sort of glitch.

All in all, hardly the most professional, customer service friendly place.

Can't say enough about the quality of care and expertise that these two clinics (W Seattle & Highline) offer. I have several high end orhopedic and internal medicine physicians who speak highly of the opthomologists at this office. Dr Mulligan (and his colleagues), has been an ethical physician who will only suggest a procedure when truly needed. For example he would not perform lasik on me as he felt that it would not be in my best interests when others outside of these two clinics have suggested otherwise!

The staff is friendly, efficient, and courteous. After seeing the couple of low reviews i felt i had to take the time and set real expectations. I feel it is not a ripoff as one reviewer stated due to a missed appt. cjarge. $50 is very inexpensive considering the time taken out of a physician day when you do not have the common courtesy or responsibilty to call prior to an appt (especially when set by the reviewer him/herself) The optical dept have some of the most friendly and effecient staff around. Mark and his colleagues are 1st rate and very business like, so not a lof time is wasted. I have also seen them take the extra time and care with some of the elderly patients who sometimes need a little extra. I have to agree with the large majority of reviewers that this is indeed a five star clinic.

Hope this helps!

Dr. Weingeist and his team are the greatest. I recently had Lasik eye surgery and the results are amazing. The staff was always very helpful. Dr. Weingeist was able take me through all the details of surgery which made the procedure that much easier. He also takes care of my 3 year old son who loves to ask the question "why" as he checks out all the eye equipment. Dr. Weingeist made the check up fun and took the extra time to answer all my little patient's questions. Thank You.

Ever see the movie Beetlejuice, in the waiting room of the afterlife? At least those freaks are interesting if obnoxious and unhelpful. Seriously, West Seattle Eye Clinic has some of the rudest people working there I've ever encountered in my life. But the reason it gets 3 stars in spite of this is that I love the doctors. So, go there on behalf of your eyes, but prepare to deal with incompetent and unfriendly staff.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with the West Seattle Eye Clinic. I have gone to both locations and always receive excellent care. Dr. Meyer and his staff took the time to get to know me and it showed in the results. I had an annoying condition with my eyes that several other doctors could not fully address. Dr. Meyer did a thorough exam and diagnosed my condition in one visit. His treatments have always been spot on. He even helped me out at the beginning of allergy season on a Sunday when the office was closed. Dr. Meyer reminds me of what the old time country docs were all about: service to patients.

Pros: Takes the time to understand the problem. Caring. Excellent technical skills and knowledge.

Cons: None. Free coffee would be nice, but I bet Dr. Meyer would arrange it if I asked!

I recently went to WSEC for my 3-yr old son and myself. It was his first exam and both Dr. Meyer and his team did everything to make it comfortable and fun for him. I found Dr. Meyer to be very knowledgeable and helpful. The exams were thorough and he explained every step on the way. He later provided us with a copy of an article from a medical journal pertaining to our specific case to take home.
Our son since got glasses and as you can imagine they need constant fixing because they have to endure some rough play. Instead of constantly going to the special children's place in Wallingford where we bought them we can always bring them in to WSEC and get them fixed at no charge. One week we had to get them readjusted 3x and it was a huge relieve to have these great doctors and staff in the neighborhood.

I can?t say enough good things about West Seattle Eye Clinic, Dr. Meyer, and all the staff here. I?ve gotten excellent care, including everything from routine eye exams through glaucoma surgery and follow-up. Based on my experience, at least half a dozen family members have started going to this clinic also and they are also very positive about their care and treatment. Dr. Meyer is a great doctor. He and his backup Dr. Mulligan are professional, friendly, compassionate, well-informed and thorough. So are all the gals and guys in both offices and the clinical assistants too! Location is not as important as the level of care in choosing a medical professional, obviously. But having two locations is super-convenient for errands in Burien (Highline) or Westwood Village. I?m really surprised to read any negative reviews of this clinic as they've done a wonderful job for me, my family and my senior parents. I urge anyone looking for routine eye care and especially, glaucoma care to call West Seattle Eye Clinic.

I have taken my three kids to the West Seattle Eye Clinic for the past two years. I have had a great experience at every visit. The office looks beautiful and up-to-date. The staff is friendly, helpful and professional. Dr. Meyer was very patient and skilled in getting my kids to cooperate during the exam. He explained everything that was doing to happen to my kids (as well as to me) in a clear and thoughtful manner. Even my youngest one, who was a little scared, was amused by the different toys Dr. Meyer used during the exam and soon was laughing. I think the West Seattle Eye Clinic is a wonderful office and I feel fortunate to have it in my neighborhood.

The care they gave my father and step mother went beyond just a physician/:patient relation. The care they gave to this elderly couple was appreciated by them and by me. I have had friends ask me who to go to for their eye checkups and I always send them to this clinic.

Not only ae the doctors great, the staff takes their time and are very professional when working with patients. They made me feel wuite comfortable and cared for. The appointments ran on time and everyone treated me well. They are wonderful.
had my eyes checked by Dr. Meyer recently, he was thorough and
genuinely concerned about me. His concern about my eye health was
related to 'bands' on my eyes and why they occurred. I was treated
professionally and competently.

I purchased bifocal glasses at their optical department. Andy is the
epitome of preofessionalism, and was able to order PERFECT bifocals for
me. There was no need to get used to the bifocal being placed higher or
lower on my lenses, and they work wonderfully.

Staff in the office were punctual anf capable. The office ran on time
and I never felt rushed.

Great place for eye exams and care of their patients.

As a Surgical Technologist of 22 years I have had an opportunity to see many different facilities and work with Surgeons of all specialties. Dr. Meyer and Mulligan are both exceptional doctors, with whom I have trusted not only my vision but that of my spouse. The technology that is being used for LASIK at West Seattle Eye Clinic is State of the art. The operating suite at West Seattle Eye is staffed by Highly skilled professionals, and goes beyond the required standards to provide safe, efficient and highly quality care. I had my LASIK surgery there almost a year ago and it has been incredible. I'm still amazed by the clearity of my vision and how vibrant colors are. I have recommended several of my friends to West Seattle Eye and will continue to do so.

I have been going to the West Seattle Eye Clinic for three years now, and I absolutely LOVE it. Last year, Dr. Weingeist did Lasik eye surgery, and I cannot be happier! He always has a smile on his face and is willing to listen to what your issues are. In addition, the staff has always been courteous and have always had a smile on their face. Like the title says, Only Eye Clinic to which I entrust my eyes.

I've found the reviews on this clinic interesting but unfortunate. Given there are several doctors in the practice, talking generically about the entire practice isn't helpful to anyone. With that, I highly recommend Dr. Weingeist. He's very knowledgeable, helpful and really concernced about his patients. I've referred several individuals to him and they've all had great experiences with him.
Any receptionist can have a bad day, a cancellation fee is standard any health care office these days...don't let comments like that in a review discourage you from getting good eye care from a good doctor

I've visited the West Seattle Eye Clinic on many occasions and have had a great experience. There was no problem getting an appointment and the staff was very professional and courteous. Like other reviewers I had Dr. Weingeist and couldn't be more positive about the experience. He's very personable, knowledgeable and offers practical advice about eye health. I'd definitely recommend seeing him.

This is a great eye clinic. I moved to the area in '06 and needed a new eye doctor. A friend recommended Dr. Weingeist. It was easy to get an appointment, the staff is very personable, and the doctor was very patient in fitting me with glasses and contacts. The exam was probably the most through I've ever had. Dr. Weingeist is an excellent doctor. Overall, I had a great experience and will return for many years to come.

I only can say this place is the best. Dr. Weingeist knows what he is doing. Highly skilled and very personable, I have no idea why or how folks can say they've had a bad experience! I have only good things to say about my visit and the eyeglass store downstairs. A++++ from me! Highly recommended.

I have no idea what the heck these other reviewers are talking about. I have had nothing but positive experiences at the West Seattle Eye Clinic. I have had no issues whatsoever. I rarely write reviews, but the unusual and unexpected comments compelled me to add my 2-cents. I would HIGHLY recommend this clinic for day-to-day eye care as well as more serious surgical eye procedures. They have the latest technologies and extremely educated and knowledgeable staff. I actually drive all the way from north Seattle to come to this clinic because of the trust and respect I have for the doctors. I get very suspicious when I read such nonsense in these reviews. Again, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the West Seattle Eye Clinic.

My family - myself, kids and elderly mother have all been seeing Dr. Weingeist for a few years. I've had very positive experiences with him - he is extremely professional, enjoys his work and knows it better than any eye doctor I've ever been to. My mother had severe eye problems (cataracts, glaucoma, etc.) and had been to all the top specialists in the city. Dr. Weingeist was able to pinpoint the problem and stabliize her vision - something no other doctor had been able to do.

My needs are more straightforward - a bi-annual exam & contact lense orders. This is always fast, easy and professional. We'll all keep going back.

I called there yesterday to make an appointment and the receptionist advised me that I would have to pay $50 due to a missed appointment from last year. I told her: I NEVER MADE THAT APPOINTMENT, AS A MATTER OF FACT THE RECEPTIONIST SCHEDULED IT WITHOUT MY PERMISSION AND I TOLD HER THAT IS NOT A GOOD TIME FOR US, so despite the fact that I didn't want the appointment so soon, they went ahead and scheduled me and then go on to charge me for not showing up....now when i'm ready to come in for the procedure, they say i have to pay $50 and when I ask for it to be removed, they say I can write the 'good' doctor and beg for the $50 ripoff fee to be removed. SLAM....I hung up on her...I will take my business elsewhere, my family deserves better treatment than this!!!!

I took a friend there for his broken glasses, and later faxed in his med coupon. They never bothered to call me to let me know the fax arrived. A whole month later I called about his eye glasses...."Well we never received the coupon." They had my number...they should've called. The 2nd time the glasses broke....they took 3months to return them!! This person is legally blind without glasses, and they knew this! 3 mon is very unnecessary! I helped out another elderly friend of mine, and made the appt for her. Unfortunately I had to reschedule the 1st two appts. I canceled the first one just under the 24hr period. The 2nd one I canceled 48hrs ahead of time (they only have a 24hr policy). The 3rd time....Hopelink cab did not show to pick up my friend, and she missed her appt. They have since refused to see her at their clinic. I understand they lose money when stuff like this happens...but this person had never missed an appt before...what ever happened to valued customers!! The missed appt was clearly not the patients fault, and they wouldn't take it into consideration. When trying to find her a new clinic, I called the Burien location not realizing it was the same clinic. The receptionist got my info, put me on hold for 10 min....then disconnected me. I called back, and she immediately put me on hold again. Someone else picked up, and I had to give all my info again. She put me on hold for another 10 min...only to say that the client cannot be seen at this clinic. The staff was rude, and not even somewhat apologetic. Don't waste your time by coming here :)

Pros: none

Cons: they are only about making money

The doctors at this eye clinic push you into services you DON'T WANT and then try to charge you for them later. I made it clear that I only wanted a vision exam, but was given all kinds of pre-operative exams for Lasik, "to determine whether I would be a good candidate." Months later, I received a bill for these charges. These doctors are greedy and insensitive. Do yourself a favor: go elsewhere!!!

I chose the West Seattle Eye Clinic because I live nearby. My experience there can be described as nothing short of traumatic. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT choose this clinic! Gambling with your eye sight is not worth it. If I can help even one person avoid the mistake I made, the time and effort to write this review will have been worth it.

My first visit to WSHEC was in June 2005. I actually went here to get a second opinion, as I was diagnosed with glacoma. I found the Drs.and the staff to be very professional, knowledgable, caring, and friendly. I have had appointments at both offices, Burien and West Seattle, and find both offices clean, professional, and welcoming. I would highly recommend them, as I have been their patient since that first visit.

My initial impression of the West Seattle Eye Clinic was not very good. The doctor, while knowledgeable and friendly, was pushy about Lasik. The chin and forehead rests on the vision testing equipment were oily and had makeup residues, the technicians practiced shoddy sterile technique, and the technician I saw regarding contact lenses was terse, impatient, not well-informed, and downright rude. The clinic also tried to charge an extra $100 fee to 'fit' me for contact lenses and write a contact lens prescription on top of my new eyeglass prescription. I objected to this fee on the grounds that 1) the conversion requires nothing more than simple arithmetic; 2) the lenses I wanted only come in one size; and 3) the size they come in is exactly the size I have successfully been wearing for the last 10 years! Overall, it was a rather unpleasant experience. I won't go back.

Pros: Location, doctors are MDs, doctor explained things well

Cons: equipment dirty, technicians had poor sterile technique, technicians were rude
