She's right. The fancy dcor is all an illusion to get you in the door and make you feel like you are going somewhere professional. All of that changes once you become a patient and they get your money. It seems like money is really the only thing that they care about.

I had been a patient being treated for heavy bleeding and went through some financial problems. When I called to set up a payment plan, they made me feel so embarrassed and then told me if I didn't pay my balance right then, that they wouldn't be doing my surgery. This surgery was for life threatening anemia from bleeding problems. I already got transfusions for this and I couldn't believe that they would not treat me unless I paid in full up front. I had to pay with a credit card over the phone which made me feel terrible. We were saving room on that card to pay our rent that month.

Anyway, I had my procedure done in their "operating room." The doctor that did my surgery is terrible and didn't properly block my cervix. I nearly passed out and felt every second of pain. All she kept telling me was "don't move." She didn't even care that I was screaming in pain and gave me no pain medicine for after even though I could hardly move. My friend has had one done with another group and said she barely felt it and felt great afterward. I am sure that they screwed up my uterus and I'm just hoping no long term damage has been done. Besides, that, after I paid thousands of dollars for this, it didn't even work and I bled even worse than before. I had to go to Capital to get my hysterectomy.

After my surgery with them, I called to complain and must have talked to the same "practice manager" Deb that the last person reviewed. She is horrible! She talks to you like she is so much better than you and argues with every point. She is some kind of special a**hole that a person could pay all of that money not to be helped, not be allowed to schedule surgery until they got their money, and then not even have it work and still feel like she has the nerve to talk down to you. She really needs to get some manners and people skills. Pretty sad when that is her job.

The only reason people go here is because they don't really have any competition if you want surgery at St. Pete's.

Olympia ObGyn, you should be ashamed of yourselves and learn to take care of patients before you worry about how much money is in your pocket.

Their office is clean and fancy, there is plenty of parking and a lot of their nurses are nice, and that is all the good I can say about this place. This practice overall is extremely disappointing.

If you have any choice, go somewhere else. At every appointment, I felt like I could buy a fetal heart monitor and some pee sticks off Amazon and give myself better obstetric care than this practice. They don't read your chart, they don't remember who you are and they have no idea what's going on with your pregnancy. The doctors could never answer my questions, and they were extremely patronizing. I'm an adult woman taking responsibility for a future generation. Please, don't protect me from scary things like information about pregnancy complications. As an added bonus, the phlebotomists in their convenient on-site lab hurt the ever-loving crap out of me every time they drew blood. I get blood drawn a lot, so I am familiar with the normal level of discomfort it can cause.

So, I switched doctors halfway through my pregnancy. The "Practice Manager" called me to ask if I was dissatisfied with my care, and then proceeded to argue about everything I said. You have to be some special kind of a**hole to call a pregnant lady and argue with her to try to stress her out. She said I have diabetes. I don't - my chart has many lab results that show that I don't, but they don't read your chart. In fact, the Oly OB nurses had called me on two separate occasions to tell me I don't have diabetes. (I guess they don't communicate internally either).

She never apologized for getting that information wrong - and that is kind of a Big Thing to get wrong when you're talking about someone's health. Have you ever heard of customer service? Because that's not how you do it. In fact, she never apologized for anything I was concerned about. She didn't actually want to listen to the problems I had. I am certain that her strategy was to terrify me into running back into the safe, paternal arms of Oly OB by telling me crazy stuff like "you have diabetes and your babies are at very high risk because of it if you transfer to a practice without the scope of care that Oly Ob has.

Haha, okay. "Scope of Care." That's hilarious, Deb, Practice Manager.

It was a metaphor for their whole care philosophy in a nutshell - wait for something to go wrong before you try to fix it, and then tell the patient/customer they are an idiot.

BTW - if you are switching practices, leave plenty of time for your records to be transferred. The Practice Manager had no problem telling me she legally had 15 days to hold my records before she had to send them and she was willing to hold them the whole time.

This place does not uphold the hippocratic oath. They will not accept any patient who is too complicated leaving one without an alternative source of local OB care. Shame since it means delivery will be walking into an ER who has no clue who I am, what I have been through, or what is safe. They put everything at very high risk and if anything happens... well don't risk being a patient here. Find someone better unless you are 100% healthy. Placenta previa is too much for them to handle. It took me 2 weeks to be told 'we do not wish to accept you' and in this time I nearly died of complications due to a lung condition. To me that's BS. They could have been upfront instead of leading me on... especially since I had left the previous hospital because it was too far away.

I have had a great experience going here during my pregnancy. I have met with 4 of the doctors and have found them all to be friendly and knowledgeable. The office is very organized and usually always running right on time.
