ARGOSY CRUISES IS WASTE OF MONEY

by max k.

Dinner food was terrible. View was OK. I liked the live music. The waiter did not do a good job! This was our second dinner. Our first was a very good experience back in April 2008 but this second time in July 2009 I am very disappointed and will NEVER go there again! When you compare what you pay for what you get it is EXTREMELY overpriced. I hate the summer dinner menu, we had lam tenderloins, and Portobello mushroom for witch both was a disaster!!! Will not come again!

Argosy Cruises is the worst!!!

by Bigdog099 A.

Worst experience of our Seattle trip. I took my parents to Seattle to celebrate their 40th Anniversary and we were going to take the Locks cruise. We arrived about half an hour before the next departure, purchased our tickets, and was told to wait in the center area and that a bus would be picking us up and take us to our departing location.

They announced the bus would be arriving and to move out to the street which we did along with a couple of other couples however we never saw a bus for Argosy. Finally, one of the other couples went asked about the bus and found out we were all standing in the wrong place. They failed to tell us we had to walk further north along to pier to another loading location for the bus. By the time we found out the bus had already left, we missed the cruise, and the next one wasnt scheduled for 3 hours later.

I went back to the ticket counter and demanded a refund and asked to speak to a manager. I was sent to a building along the pier to speak to a manager. I explained to her my experience and all she said was we knew we were missing some passengers and looked for them. I know that is not true because the person at the ticket counter could see us the whole time we were waiting for the bus and never helped us. The manager made no effort to get us on that cruise or the harbor cruise that was leaving in 15 minutes. At least I did get a refund but the experience ruined my parents anniversary. If youre going to use this company make sure you know exactly where to be or you will literally miss your boat.

I loved this place. So close to the water, and excellent menu options. The service was great and the food tasted delicious. I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and will be back soon.

Fun cruises!

by E. S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,927

The company offers a variety of cruises around the Puget Sound area at a reasonable price. The boats are nice and clean and the staff is very knowledgeable on the areas toured. It is worth the money when you have guests visit or just as a local Seattle-ite. Fun boat ride, worth the money!

fun cruise around the Seattle Bay

by Lindsay B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,305

While in Seattle my Dad and I decided to take a site seeing cruise around the Bay. We were able to walk right up and buy tickets for the next trip. As you are boarding they took everyones picture in front of the boat and had they had them ready for purchase by the time you docked. The cruise was great; it lasted approximately 45min to an hour and was very informative about the city. We learned from our guide all about the citys history, the Space Needle, West Seattle, Mt. Rainier, the Pike St. Market, the Mariners, and the even the port. It was very interesting and entertaining on such a beautiful day. Of coarse, they dont have a lot of days like that so the boat had an inside area with tables to sit at and windows to look out of. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is visiting Seattle. Argosy Cruises fun for the kids and interesting for the adults.

A great romantic dinner on the ocean!

by Elizabeth O. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,362

My husband brought me on the Argosy dinner cruise for our 10th anniversary. Not only was the food great, there was the most gorgeous sunset to make the evening just perfect.

While I can't guarantee a perfect sunset for you, I CAN tell you that you will not be disappointed in the food, service, or staff!

Harbor Cruise

by Denise M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,143

I went on the Harbor Cruise (one of the CityPass attractions) and I had a nice experience. A picture is taken of your group before docking and you can check out the picture when you return. The picture is actually very nice and reasonably priced. When I went, I had a great tour guide that pointed out all the different landmarks and attractions. He was very funny and kept things interesting.

Fun way to see Seattle from the water

by Alexander G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,469

I've done a Puget Sound cruise through that company at the end of July. It was actually done through a radiostation, and it cost only $29 a person, which was an awesome deal. They had a DJ onboard, a psychic, karaoke, some prize drawing, and even some food. The departed from Peir 55 and went to Alki Point, then up North, and got back to Seattle, went along the waterfront once more, and finally stopped at the pier. We got off the ship around 10pm. The ship had two decks, with the upper deck being partially opened. We spent some of the time inside and some outside. It was a nice and pleasant night out that didn't cost us too much.

PROS: Inexpensive (through radiostation), fun way to see Seattle from the water
CONS: None

Dinner cruise on Argosy

by Anonymous

It is a plesant and fabulous one. My family and I love the food on Argosy very much, actually this should be the best food I ever had on cruise, I think. The dinner environment is fanastic, it is very quiet and romantic, especially the musics and their services. We had a very beautiful view of sunset. The crews are very nice and friendly too. One thing not very plesant is the traffic in Seattle and it took me some time to drive through. If the cruise fares could be cheaper, it would be even wonderful, taken into a family of 6 together with you. I really love this dinner and am planing another one in the near future.

Classy and Fun!

by Sara G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,060

I took a short cruise last month on an Argosy boat to a wedding site on an island near Seattle, and was very impressed! The boat was swank, clean, and the staff aboard was classy and friendly. It was roomy too, and very comfortable inside, with some super cooshy booths. Not sure how expensive it was, but as a passenger, I recommend highly.

PROS: Comfy, classy, great service.
CONS: No complaints.

Average Boat Cruise

by Kristal B. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,900

Argosy boat cruise's in Seattle are a fun thing to do when you have guests from out of town. For an average thing to do, its not so great. The food is overpriced and the service can sometimes be slow. I've been on many different ones and they all seem the same. Its a good place to have your employee party if you don't mind being out at sea with your co-workers for 3 hours with no escape. For upscale cruising around the waters of Puget Sound, call one of the local yacht companies and rent a yacht with a captain to take you anywhere you want.

PROS: Inexpensive way to get on a boat

A must-do even for native Seattle-ites!

by Sheila B. | insider Insider | Rank: 17,808

I've done a dinner cruise out of Elliot Bay, and a lunch cruise in Lake Washington. Both were fabulous ways to enjoy a date. The dinner cruise with Argosy was exceptional. I don't know if it was just that I was hungry, but the food was really good! They played jazz whiie we dined, then we walked around and watched the sunset as we traveled around the water. I was very impressed with the level of professionalism of the crew. The captain also came down to chat with us and it was nice to put a face to the man in charge. My date and I were very impressed with how genuine the service was and I would do this again in a heartbeat. The lunch cruise was also as good and it was neat seeing all the "famous" Seattle-ites' houses on the water.

PROS: Great food and fun experience.
CONS: The dinner boat could have been a tad bit cleaner.

Fun Time!

by Philip W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,708

Argosy Cruises is a great choice for an office party or a special occasion. The cruise leaves from one of the piers downtown and takes you around Elliot Bay on the Puget Sound. They have buffet style dinners and a bar. They have room for live entertainment and a great deck on the back.

New Year's Eve Cruise 2009

by Norcalfilly

My husband and I took the New Year's Eve Cruise 2009 $360). There was inclement weather, which is not the fault of Argosy, however, they had the passengers standing in a very long line outside without cover for roughly 30 minutes. Not really good on the hair or the clothes. Our seating was on the 3rd deck, the smallest area on the boat. The tables were were so close together that our stomachs were pressed against it, and we were unable to move. My husband and I are tall, and it was not the best of situations. We had to share a table with another couple, which was not a problem, but all the passengers were in such close proximity that it was very uncomfortable. We had the salmon and prime rib. We were not asked how we wanted the prime rib, and therefore, the waitress brought my husband, who is strickly a "well done guy" the rawest meat I've ever seen... He ate it, but he wasn't happy about it. Our table guest didn't eat his food at all. When it came time for the toast, we were given a 1/2 glass of champagne. We didn't get up to dance because getting back into our seats at the table would require the people behind us to pull their chairs out each time. We will not do this cruise again.

Pros: None

Cons: Several

Best way to get out on the water

by aleksandr111

I?ve done harbor cruises, locks cruises, the water taxi (from west Seattle to downtown), a Christmas cruise, parties, etc. all on Argosy, every one has been excellent. Boats are impeccably clean and comfortable. Staff are so friendly and will really knock themselves out for you. Events are reasonably priced for what you get (a boat + crew!). The boats have bars on them that are well stocked (for a boat) ? and the staff really want everyone to have a fun time, but are committed to safety above all else (don?t mess with them ? they WILL turn that boat around and take you back). I highly recommend all of their tours and services, great company.

Best Birthday ever!

by an_greeney

For Mom's birthday we took her on the Royal Argosy dinner cruise in Seattle, and she swears up and down it was the best birthday party she's ever had. The cost for the cruise was $88 per person (value season, they call it) which seemed like a lot when I was first researching it, but I figured Mom was worth it. I couldn't have been more pleased with this dinner cruise. We started with a lovely bread basket, and everyone loved their entrees. My mushroom ravioli was delightful, and mom can't stop talking about her Alaskan Salmon. All in all, it was a great value, and I would recommend it for any special occasion.

Excellent water view of the Emerald City!

by seattlejoe

I've taken several Argosy cruises in the past year and each one is a gem. The Christmas lights and songs are a real treat during the holiday season, and during the other months this is a wonderful, relaxing way to get a water view of the city!

Pros: Excellent Ship, Clean facilities, Professional Staff
