Creekside Stables is one of the best experiances i have had in my whole life! I started riding here five years ago and i wouldnt ever think about leaving! For the first year, I took weekly lessons on Tuesdays and they were always the highlight of my week. i remember in third grade walking up to my teacher and saying, "IM TAKING HORSEBACK RIDING LESSONS!" a year later, i started my first work day on saturday. I worked for two summers after that and then i started working full time year round. i got paid in free lessons whenever i worked and ometimes during the summer i would end up working 3 days a week because i loved to be out at the barn. i was so excited to be there! little did i know, in third grade, that i would create friendships that would last FOREVER! Sami, Bella, Debbie, Ilana, and Sabine have been there for me throughout so much. I always knew that when i was having a bad day, i could just call one of them, and head down to the barn. More than the friendships though, what Creekside has really showed me is patience and respect. When you are around horses, you have to have a certain amount of patience otherwise you will get no where. The horses also have to have respect for you. Realizing this, i learned that i ALSO needed to have respect and patience for the horses. As i moved up in the levels on the horses, somedays, i had AMAZING rides, others, i had the worst rides and it left me thinking. but no matter what, i always learned something. Sheryl is a GREAT instructor and she never pushes ANYONE past their comfort zone. she challenges me just enough to make me learn, but never more than i can handle. Creekside is an amazing barn and i would never recommend anywhere else over this barn. the people are so friendly and the horses will grow with you. creekside has been my growing place and i love it <3

Creekside was probably the best decision me and my mom have ever made! i have made so many friends and my horses Cody and Striker have never been happier. Sheryl is an amazing trainer and ive only been here for a year but i have learned more from her than i did probably in my other years of riding. I work on saturdays with all of my closests friends and im able to go out every day to spend time with my horse. Ive been recently working on jumping with all my friends and we always have the best time. Sheryl knows exactly what shes talking about when it comes to horses. Working for Sheryl has taught me alot about responsibility and hard work and cleanliness. Im constantly having good rides with my horse and he has never been so happy. I love creekside and everyone in it. there all so willing to help me if i have a question or need help and NOBODY is snobby. i love this barn and it was such a good decision:)

I relocated to Washington over two years ago with my husband, sons, dogs and horse. Prior to the move, we needed to locate a place to board my horse until we could find horse property to purchase and have her live with us. After searching many local horse boarding establishments, I found that Creekside Stables was the best choice. In fact, even after purchasing our horse property 3 minutes from the stable, we decided to keep our horse at Creekside full time! At Creekside, you will find that you and your horse will receive consistent and custom care. Creekside is a family oriented barn and horse owners there watch out for each other and each other??s horses. When there is a problem with your horse, you are immediately notified. Turnout of your horse to pasture occurs daily and is included in the price of your boarding for the horse. Sheryl Butler (Proprietor and Dressage Trainer at Creekside) is excellent. When I came to Creekside I was having issues with panic attacks with respect to my horse. Under Sheryl??s expert care and patience, I now am able to approach a horse and ride with new found confidence. Sheryl is very knowledgeable on all things with respect to horses. From Grooming training to Ground Work with your horse, from dressage training to jumping, Creekside is a well rounded facility where I know you will sleep well at night knowing your horse is there.

.About three or four years ago I began volunteer work for Sheryl. And the place I visited every weekend soon became a second home. I started working with a girl named Debbie, who ended up becoming my best friend. My trainer, Sheryl, has also become a very close friend. Not only does she teach me to ride, but I believe Sheryl is known for teaching responsibility. She gave me the best advice once I began searching for a horse, and I couldn't feel happier with Kadie staying anywhere else. Also, the volunteer work has kept me around to meet some of the kindest and giving people, and doing chores has never been so much fun! I always look forward to the neat tasks Sheryl sets me to!

Summers at Creekside Stables always hold my closest memories. Not only did I get to spend the day with my closest group of friends, but Sheryl would let us camp out in the areana! Me, Debbie, Sabine, Emilie, and Mikayla would get to ride our favorite horses and stay up late telling scary storys! We would always wake up in the morning to cold pizza, and Sheryl letting us know its time to take the horses out! All of the barn sleepovers couldnt have been better!

What can I say other than Sheryl Butler is without question the best instructor I have ever had for anything in my life and Creekside Stables holds a special place in my heart. Sheryl is patient, compliments you when you do well, lets you know when you are not getting something right and shows you how to correct it immediately. I began later in life at age 66 and have been at it 7 years now and have never enjoyed anything as much as this. I had always had a love for horses but grew up in cities and towns and didn't have the opportunity to really get to know them until my younger daughter got a horse, then my older daughter became interested in taking lessons, and the two of them and a niece of ours decided I should also do it. So my older daughter, niece and I started at Creekside, January, 2003 and I have never looked back or had any desire to go anywhere else. For any other seniors checking this out, it's great physical exercise as well as mental exercise as you've got to be alert and thinking as you ride. We may not have the fanciest barn, but the horses are all well-mannered, personable and willing. I live in NW Seattle, so it is usually a 45 minute drive to Creekside, but I go different routes depending on traffic volume, time of day, and sometimes mood. I go at least twice a week because at my age I've got to get as much riding done as I can in a short time! I go for practice rides in between lessons when possible. Learning to groom and tack up the horse you ride and untack and clean him/her up after riding is a great experience and really gives you good bonding with the horse. Anytime you have a problem or a question Sheryl or any of the other riders at Creekside is always willing to help, as it is a friendly and happy barn with a great group of riders, horses, 2 friendly dogs, cats and even chickens. Hope to see you there!!

I started riding when I was 8, in The Netherlands, Europe. When I was 10 we moved to Washington for my dad's work. I had always ridden english as we don't know western riding. We looked everywhere for nice stables, but nowhere we found one that also did group lessons, which I was used to. All of the other places had really expensive privet lessons with just one horse you ride. First of all, I ride because I think it's fun, and I make lots of friends. When you get privet lessons, there's definitely no one you would know better than your trainer. But Creekside has more than just amazing friends. It's like a family. For example when my cat died that I had lived with my whole life, there were no people who welcomed me more than Sheryl and everyone else at Creekside with the hardest day of my life. And with the dressage shows, potlucks, and best of all: the great lessons you get, it's just a place like no other. In the years that I have first ridden in The Netherlands, then at Creekside, and now in The Netherlands again, I have definitly learned way more in the two little years that I rode at Creekside then anywhere else. Sheryl is gifted with something that is undescribeable. She has group lessons, but looks at you individually. So it's like a privet lesson, while other people get just as much as attention as you. There's really no better place for learning how to start riding, or like me, improve the skills you allready have.

Creekside took us a while to find, but how glad we were when we did! My husband and I are long-time recreational horse-riders, but as we both work full-time we simply don't have the time to contemplate owning horses of our own. Sheryl and her string of well-mannered school horses give us a good work-out every week - I really can't imaging not being able to look forward to starting our weekend at the barn with an hour of her excellent instruction.

As you'll see from the other reviews, for those of us riding by the hour, Creekside gives you the nearest to an owners experience that you can get: all students are expected to groom and tack up their own horses, and if you want to do more, you surely can. Sheryl is a patient, gifted teacher who has made, and continues to make us better, more confident riders.

In the years we have been her students, it has also been a real joy to see a succession of youngsters grow up at the barn, becoming poised, cheerfully hard-working and self-reliant - and confident, skillful riders too!

Whether you have a horse-mad youngster, a yen to try this great sport for the first time, or go back to riding after a break, give Sheryl a call. It might not be the shiniest barn in town, but it's the best.

I always imagined the day when I would own my own horse. When I was 8 years old, my parents decided that it was time for me to take my first step towards that dream. I had thought that riding would come magically to me and I would be galloping in green fields within a couple of days...Sheryl was quick to ground me from my mislead hallucinations. She taught me the execution and precision needed for my chosen activity. She taught me how to handle myself when the situation wasn't going as planned, and she taught me the art of self reliance. After 3 years of riding, I decided I needed more than just riding. I wanted to learn how to take care of the horses, and what running a barn entailed. I began my volunteer work at Creekside when I was 12 years old. Once again I was shocked at the hard work that was required. After my first day of volunteer work, my mom picked me up and on the 7 minute drive home, I fell right to sleep! It was the most fun I had ever had! I have since worked at Creekside for the past 5 years and it has become more than just a barn to me. Creekside is my home and all of the people that go there are my second family. Sheryl became a mom to me and I have become her daughter. This past summer was the hardest of my life. My parents, my siblings, and I moved over the summer and I had to leave Creekside and my second family behind. Of course, just because I moved doesn't mean that Sheryl isn't still looking out for me in every way she can. After moving, my parents finally agreed to let me get a horse of my own. I enlisted the help of my forever instructor to choose a horse. She took matters into her own hands and called the owners of the horse I was looking at and told my parents to get me that horse. They did and my dream became a reality. I would not be the person I am today if it weren't for Sheryl and her many lessons. She goes beyond teaching her students, she truly cares about their best interest. She is the strongest woman I have ever met and I have learned more from her then anyone.

My daughter has taken dressage lessons from Sheryl Butler at Creekside for 7 years. Creekside is a clean, well kept facility. The indoor arena is very large and well lit. They rake & water it in the summer to keep the dust down. Advanced riders can also ride in the outdoor jump arena. The stalls are well lit, filled with sawdust, and cleaned daily, as is the aisle which is large enough to groom in. There is daily turnout in a large fenced pasture or if your horse needs it, there is a smaller round pen. Horses are fed twice daily according to the boarder's wishes. A ferrier comes to the stables as needed. There is a private tack room for boarders, or you can use Sheryl's school horses & tack if you are taking lessons. Lessons are reasonably priced. You must wear riding boots & a riding helmet for safety. You start with a private 45 min beginner lesson in which you learn how to groom & tack your horse, how to get on & off, how to walk, & how to stop. Then you take individual 30 min lessons until you master posting. Then you can join a group lesson which is less expensive, and has 2-5 other students in your level. Lessons are offered weekdays & Saturdays, including some evening classes. Every summer, Sheryl invites a local Judge to come in, and offers a fun & competitive dressage show, where you can compete in categories from beginner through advanced levels & win ribbons. You also have the opportunity to take a private lesson from the judge. Everyone brings something to this event, & there is a huge lunch. All the students, from age 8 or so to a grandmother in her 70s, share a closeness that you want to be a part of. The only thing that I don't like is that Sheryl smokes, which I don't feel is appropriate when working with kids. But she knows her stuff, & teaches with the right mix of sternness, common sense, humor, & love. We looked at other stables in the area, and Creekside outshines them all! Note: Creekside does not offer trail rides.
