My family and I have been going to the Clark county family YMCA for a year and a half and absolutely LOVE it. Great group fitness classes, friendly staff, nice pool, and her best child watch area and staff around. I have been in other gyms

In less than 3 years they have overcharged my account., screwed up my daughters pre-paid swimming party with scheduling problems, accused my daughter of lying when another girl stole her swimsuit (like she didn't know her own swim suit!), sent a membership price change letter to me at the wrong address, then argued with me about it when I requested the overages back., and more! Keep going...
The staff here are rude, lazy, slow, and did I mention rude? And that's if you can get them to help you at all. They will literally ignore you as long as they think they can before they help you. I think they hope you go away first so they don't have to work. Seriously, sit in the lobby for a few minutes and observe if you don't believe me!
At our second attempt at parents night out, we picked up our kids and as always checked to make sure that they had all of their stuff. My 7- year-old was missing her swimsuit, but had her matching shorts and towel in her bag. They told me she must have left it in the locker room, even though she denied doing so and said she had left it on the bench while she got her shoes, and when she came back a girl was standing by her stuff and her suit was gone. Rather than offering to help, they had me go into the locker room where I opened every locker and searched every stall for this suit only to come up with nothing. Upon retuning back to the kids room, the staff asked all of the girls if they had seen it, which they denied. When I pointed out the little girl who my daughter had thought to have taken it they told me she was a regular and would never take someones things. Not until I pretty much insisted did they bother to check her bag, where they found her swimsuit, plus my daughters! BUT IT DOESNT JUST END THERE! Did they give me the swimsuit? NO! The little girl said it was hers. The staff member who had stood up for her then told us she had seen her in that swinsuit before and she knew it was hers. It wasn't until my husband freaked out and pointed out the obvious, that this 12 year old had 2 wet suits in her bag when she could only wear one (and they brought in the lifeguard to confirm she had been wearing the other suit that night), that the suit she wore that night was 2 sizes bigger than my daughters, and the matching shorts we had were the same size as the missing suit! Only then did one of the staff agree it must be ours, while the other continued to insist it wasn't and wanted us to wait for the other girls parents ot arrive to confirm this. Since we had arrived there fairly early, we had no intention of hanging around that long. She then told us we had to leave the suit, and if the other girls parents said it wasn't hers, then we could come back and pick it up. We were not about to drive clear across town again to pick up what we knew to be ours. So we insisted we take it- and the one staff member was extremely rude and all but accused us of stealing, making sure she got our membership names and phone number to call when the other girls parents claimed the swimsuit as she knew they were going to do because she KNEW she had seen that girl in it. We took the suit home and called later, only to be told the other girls mother had of course said her daughter didn't have a swimsuit like that at all and didn't know why she would say she did. Could someone tell me why the employee said it too?
I could go on and on (trust me this letter would be long), but the most pathetic part of it all is that these things happened in a matter of only 10-12 visits, which is about how many times we went over the years. We just got fed up with the problems and the rudeness. We will never join a Y again. We would rather pay more money as you really do get what you pay for!

Pros: none- except maybe that it's fairly cheap

Cons: A lot! Read on,...

I had my reservations about joining a YMCA, but I was pleasantly surprised after I took a tour of this modern place. It isn't too crowded, the pool has adult swimming times and there is plenty of space for all types of exercise and sports.

The pool is nice, but the whole gym could use some updating on the other classes. For example they could the room with the station bikes where you can monitor your heart rating and your calorie burning. Very good class to offer hopefully they will add it up.
