The BBQ Joint which is usually ok. Was so dry today that I actually think they served up the brisket from the day before. There was no taste or flavor and the meat was very very dry.

This is the best bbq I've had in twenty years! The ribs, brisket, and chicken are all moist and flavorful even if you don't add the excellent bbq sauce. The greens are heavenly and made from locally grown produce. Fresh, homemade, scrumptious dessets are available and vary according to the whim of the baker. The people who own it and run it are delightful and eager to please their customers and friends! Catering is available.

My husband and I found this place listed in the Whidbey Island Visitors guide. There was no one in the place and I am always worried about going in to a place that is empty. But when I walked in the smell convinced me that this was a good place. I ordered a three meat combo to share with my son. I chose chicken, ribs and brisket. It came with 2 sides. The chicken smoked and very moist. My son did not talk for at least 5 min while he gobbled it up. The ribs were so good. Moist with just the right amount of fat. The beef brisket was perfectly smoked and very tender. All of the meats were dry rubbed and then sauce was added to order. The sauce was not to sweet. Just right! The Cole Slaw was crisp and very mild. I think it would have been great on a pulled pork sandwich. I also had potato salad. This was the only thing I was not impressed by. There was nothing bad it was just very bland. My husband had the two meat plate. He had 2 portions of the pulled pork. I had a bite, it was very good. He also tried the collard greens. They were not his favorite. It could have been that he has never had them before.

The people were super friendly. The restaurant was very clean. They offered bottled drinks, fountain drinks and sweet tea. On the menu had sandwiches, plates, combos of meats and racks of ribs. Over all I was super impressed. I would recommend this place to anyone. Oh yeah about the empty restaurant, while were were sitting down to eat about 10 different people came in for take out.

This is a great little BBQ place. Just ate ther ethe other night and have leftovers in our fridge we are working on.
The owners and staff are the best. They are always polite and helpful. The food is great and the quanities you get are good portions.
If you haven't been to this place you HAVE to go.

Considering it's the only place in town for BBQ... but seriously it is the best BBQ. The service is the best, and personal. The best part is the banana pudding!!! Wish we didn't move, we'd eat there all the time.

Love this place. IT was a great addition to our town. The food is great. We ordered out and had bbq and the baked beans. The baked goods are awesome. I would definately recommend this place.

I am from San Antonio Texas originally, and I am used to Bill Miller's famous BBQ, so I know my BBQ very well...not to mention I weigh 300 pounds :-)

I consider myself an expert on food and did some food reviews for an online website back in 1996. I lived in Oak Harbor for 10 years before I moved to Bellingham in 2002. One weekend I came to pick up my son for visitation and I was really early so I drove around town for memories sake and happened to find this new joint. After my very first bite of literally the most tender and moist beef brisket I have ever had, my eyes must have popped open like half dollars. The flavor made my mouth explode, and the texture was divine! I was so shocked that I had to walk up to the counter and tell the owner that his was the first BBQ better than Bill Miller's, but not just better, somehow much better. Unlike Bill Miller's this place uses a high pressure smoker that makes the meat fall apart, it is simply amazing.

The next time I went back, I had the three meat platter and the chicken and sausage were equally amazing! I have just never had BBQ at this level, there are no words to describe it, seriously! I told my boss about it and he drove down and tried it and he was so impressed with the sausage, that he bought 10 pounds of it for a soup cook-off at our work, and he won! I wonder why :-)

Just when I thought that they couldn't get any better, they have recently come out with a new side dish - Collard Greens! Yes, you heard me right, but these are like nothing you will ever experience. They take 50 pounds of greens, brisket, sausage, and other awesome goodies and cook it slowly down overnight and they reduce it to 25% of it's original volume! This stuff is so good that my very picky son said that these are the very best vegetables he has ever eaten.

To wrap this up, I never thought I could give a BBQ joint a 5 star rating, but I'm afraid that even five stars doesn't do this place justice!

After spending a few hours on Whidbey Island (Deception Pass) we checked out the local restaurants in Oak Harbor, WA and the BBQ Joint popped up.
We pulled in, and weren't really sure what to expect.
Upon walking in, we were greeted by the kindest employees I have seen in a LONG time.
Promptly asked what they would recommend as a first timer, and they suggested the 2 meat platter with 2 sides. I ordered the pork ribs and beef brisket with baked beans and meat chili (meat with a side of meat). All I can say is AMAZING! The smokiness wasn't over powering, and the sauce was delightful. My only regret is not knowing about this amazing down home restaurant in WA. We will definitely make the drive to the BBQ Joint again, and even after we move, each visit will include this diamond.

I you wanna find out what great bbq can be, and taste the housewine of the south (sweet tea) then you really MUST go visit Oak Harbor, WA and the BBQ Joint. They have set the bar on what good BBQ should be.
