La Fitness on West Lake (previously Pure Fitness) is an absolutely terrible club. The machines are dirty (no one uses towels, so your clothes act to soak up the last persons sweat) and not serviced regularly. The club is very dirty with dust bunnies being a common sighting. The staff are not very helpful, either feeling too cool to help out or just plain not interested.

We had been members of this club for over 2 years (what were we thinking) because of it's location and very cheap price. Finally, it has just gotten unbearable and working out is no longer fun. Quitying has been a chore as their policies are not as on the contract so becareful what you sign, and even then, what was on our contract was not the procedure we were forced to take.

The positives of the club: location--close to home. Price (but even at 24/month, no longer worth it). Empty--no wait for most machines.

If you are contemplating joining this gym, I would run the other way. If you are really wanting to join, see if you can get a week free to actually experience the filth for yourself and then decide.

I joined the Westlake location over a month ago and have had a great experience so far. It is never too crowded, the group classes are fun, and I just feel very comfortable working out there. I have always been a little intimidated of the gym because I am definitely not a hard body, but no one here has ever made me feel uncomfortable. The free workouts are nice, it seems like some people on here complained about them but they aren't considering one thing- they are free! They also will do your measurements and bmi for you each month, so you can track your progress by more than just a scale, which is great. Compared to 24 Hour Fitness where I was working out before, this gym is great!

I absolutely hate this gym. I have been a member of another local gym and went to Pure Fitness simply to get a hip hop class on Thursday nights. I signed up at the Tacoma club by TCC. I went to this one and the one off Hosmer. I was a member for 9 mos and never went. Here is why. Remember the hip hop class I specifically signed up for? Well I went and it was very clearly a specific dance group that held their practice at that day and time. It was adults and kids that had a choreographed routine they practiced and performed at local things like a high school dance team competition half-time break. I actually recognized them and their name from a high school dance team competition that my team participated in. So, in short, it was not this open hip hop aerobics class that was marketed as such and on the schedule. The sales guys are smooth and they are actually the ones to give you your first workout. It seemed odd that this guy was dressed in slacks, button shirt and shoes and was working me out. I later realized he wasn't certified at all. The monthly free workout is a joke. It's a ploy to get you in there and SELL SELL SELL. Turnover is so bad I had a diff person each of my 3-4 times. One guy used my number to call and pick me up, try to get me to come over and told me about some girl he got pregnant at his church. He was also not certified. They told me my ultimate weight should be 138. I worked out at my OTHER gym and got down to 132 myself. I came in and they treated me as if i was a newbie, refused to look up my card, measured and harassed me and told me based on calculations I needed to lose at LEAST 10 more lbs. He was so incredibly rude and demeaning. Continued to refuse to look up my old card and see how much I had already lost and I told him the OTHER trainer said 138 would be perfect for my body type. I cancelled. They continued to bill. Turned me into collections. When i call they admit it's their fault. But they cannot fix it. HOURS SUCKED ON WKNDS

I have been looking for a gym for quite sometime, shopping for gyms has not been a great experience. When I went to Pure Fitness I was impressed with how friendly and attentive the staff was. Lana (the General Manger) was a breath of fresh air. I not only signed up because they had all the equiptment I needed and more, but because Derek didn't just "sell" me, he helped me understand what i needed to do for myself. He told me goals need to be ardently desired and vividly imagined.

A candy store of equipment leads to never a dull workout... assuming you have a sense or adventure. The staff at westlake pure fitness have seperated themselves among their competitors brethren. Details to a clean environment along with a plethera of amazing trainers(aha... finally someone who would rather make sure I see results than be concerned about how many credit cards I have in my wallet) keeps their members happy. These guys "get it!"

I joined City Search just so that I could express my hatred for the vile Pure Fitness; their selling tactics and generally obnoxious staff. Anyone that has only positive things to say about the place either works there and is clearly getting paid to mitigate all the bad reviews coming in or is an oxygen deprived airhead who loves paying for any product whatever the quality and enjoys lying to themselves as well as others.

"whenever someone wants you to act immediately, without time to think about what you're doing, be sure to do the opposite and take time to consider what you're doing. You just may save yourself from becoming a victim"

This is a quote from Acting for Dummies pertaining to avoiding scams in Hollywood. Just reminds me of the tactics at Pure Fitness, no matter what they say, its not the last day of this amazing deal and even if it is, the one next week will be cheaper.
Everyone acts so energetic when you walk in. Like they are on speed or have never seen a human before. They cheer when you walk in for the first week or so, then they won't make eye-contact. You see how much they hate their jobs then. Some of them prance around and say hello while you're working out, but its kind of like the awkward feeling of running into a person you had a one night stand with. Like "great you screwed me, great i'm doing great. bye"

My way-to-full-of himself trainer made me feel like a sack of Sh**. He intentionally walked ahead of me making me follow him like I'm his little fat puppy. He won't even look me in the face. He acts bored.
But, hey. Pure Fitness is cheap in every sense of the word. You do get something for your money. Not a bad overall value. Once you join you are hooked because even though you hate the stinkin people there, its cheaper than other places and there's no year-long commitment. You may be getting a better body out of it after all. Titt for tatt.

Pros: ok equipment, basketball court, ok yoga class

Cons: parking, annoying conceited staff, somewhat dirty

After viewing several television spots advertising a special, $16 to join and $16 a month, I telephoned Pure Fitness. We discussed the promotion in detail. I asked specific questions and discovered that there was an unadvertised $49 start-up fee. I wasn't happy that I had to ask if there were any additional fees before it was disclosed, but since I was told that I could use the gym 24 hours a day during the week plus limited weekend hours, I reasoned that it was still a bargain compared to the price of other clubs.

When I arrived at the Westlake location to join, I spent about five minutes filling out paper work with my personal details and answering questions. Eventually the young sales woman placed in front of me a sales aid - a thick and colorful binder detailing page-by-page various member options. As it turns out, the $16 to join and $16 a month (Plus the $49 start-up fee) is only an every-other-day, three days a week membership! This isn't what they told me over the phone when they encouraged me to come down and join.

I understand that the Pure Fitness business model is built on increasing their ARPU by upselling memberships and using personal trainers to promote the purchase of nutritional supplements, but in their sales tactics they've crossed the line into sleazy.

I could look past it, pay the higher membership fee (which is still probably a reasonable deal), but I really don't want to give my money to the kind of owner(s) that endorses these type of unethical sales tactics.

So beware of Pure Fitness promotions and what they tell you over the phone. It is probably a SCAM. Good luck.

I was a member for almost 3 years, out of convience more than anything. Equipment always seemed to be breaking down. Loud advertising announcements overhead for personal trainers etc.. Appears to be a large turnover in staff. No special perks. Tiny parking lot w/ parking across the street, good luck during peak hours finding a spot. Affordable and if all you are looking for is a gym w/ standard equipment this is your place.

Pros: cheap

.

I cancelled my membership at Pure Fitness recently. The cancellation process took me by surprise: You have to give them notice 30 days BEFORE your next billing date, or you will be billed for the next period. Plus, the last month's dues that you paid when you joined are non-refundable. So even though I gave them cancellation notice in mid-May, I'm paid through mid-July (two months of dues = about $60)!

The manager kept reading me the contract when I called to discuss this nonsense with someone. She said it was designed "to help" people who are moving. To me, it feels like I'm being squeezed.

I came into the Club To play basketball. I wanted to do is just pay a guest fee and maybe workout and play some basketball with a friend. The atmoshphere was great. I wanted to meet the General Manager because I wanted to find out what he/she was doing to create such happy employees. Well, I met her, her name is Lana and she is so full of life and atmosphere. She spreads it around and has created such a create environment for her employees and members. I was happy to here that their is a club in Lynnwood. I decided to join. I went to Lynnwood and Lynnwood was great! I am a professional business man and I definitely recommend Pure Fitness as a work out center for those of you who are looking for great atmoshpere, clean club and a friendly yet professional atmoshpere.

I've been a member at Pure Fitness for about 6 months. The staff made me feel very comfortable when I initially came in so I joined. My experience only got better from there. The training staff showed me how to use the equipment and I can see them every 30 days for a follow up sessions. I also enjoy how clean the equipment is and the pleasant atmosphere. I would recommend this club to everyone!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! The staff is great and genuinely care. Regardless of what others may say in their reviews of Pure Fitness, i have never had a negative experience here. I mean if this place was that bad why would they still it a rating of RECOMMENDED? Seems a like someone maybe crying over spilled milk...but I digress. I have enjoyed myself and the facility so much over the past 2 years, I have brought Mike numerous friends of mine, of which 19 joined. This place is great! You get 2 free meeting with a personal trainer when you join and then 1 every month if you choose not to get involved w/ a trainer on a regular basis (I recommend you do; it helped me loose the weight I struggled with for so long). I have been a member at 6 different clubs in the Puget Sound area and Pure Fitness is head and shoulders above the rest.

This fitness club has adequate equipment and is not too crowded at lunch time, which is when I go. That's all you can say. Other than that, the place needs a cleaning in the worst way. It stinks to high heaven--like someone has left dirty workout clothes in the lockers for way too long. The equipment is rapidly approaching being worn out, and little attention is paid to keeping it clean.
If it weren't so close to my office and so cheap I would quit in a heartbeat, and probably will when I can afford to move on. Yuck!
