Ratings_icons Tacoma Allstar Fitness is NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY - RUN AWAY!

Speedy I.

I've been a member of this club since shortly after they opened, Its a great place if you never come in contact with management or need assistance about a concern.

This started with them selling me on how "Family Friendly" the club is, my 12 yr old daughter is too young to join (use machines) and too old to play in the little kids area (really designed more for early-mid grade school kids), but they would figure it out - she can go swimming or sit and watch TV. This was due the the rules not being closely monitored for a few months and they got skipped over. After a short time they tightened up all the rules - and it became clear that there was no place for her to go, so I would not be able to work out or do anything.

After my contract was up, I checked everywhere in Tacoma, LA Fitness was like going to a slimy used car lot, The "Y" is expensive, I grudgingly found myself going back to Allstar Tacoma as nobody could even touch their prices.

Shortly after joining again, they started a youth Martial Arts program. I'm thinking...FINALLY! Something for my daughter to participate in! She has suffered some set backs due to lack of self esteem, and social skill issues due to living with an older brother with Autism. In 6 months time, this martial arts program has really started turning her attitude around, its been amazing. The instructor was an awesome guy, just has an amazing touch with kids.

I state WAS because they JUST CANCELED THE PROGRAM. 20+ kids and adults just got screwed. There are no other programs for her, and once again, Allstar fitness gives me a reason to hate them.

Pay the extra money, go sign up at the YMCA, or go buy a used rack of weights from Goodwill. Trust me, you wont regret the decision.

Ratings_icons Tacoma Allstar Fitness is a five star gym

I don't have a membership here but I have visited it many times with my sister who is a member. Allstar fitness is set up nicely. If I lived closer I would have joined. Place looks classy and swimming pool is fun for all ages.
I love the fact that there is an onsight childcare facility free of charge while u workout and an area for youth to go if they are not old enough yet to be on the workout floor.

Ratings_icons Tacoma Allstar Fitness is an all around gym

My son and I are members of this gym and we love it. The staff is super friendly and the trainers are patient. The price is good and if you pay a year advance, you get an extra 3 months free. My 13 year old loves going there because of the basketball gym (which is useful especially in the winter) and both my boys love their swimming pool. We even took a couple of aerobic swimming classes and had a blast. They even give you the opportunity to do some rock climbing. They have everything there.

Ratings_icons Great Gym

April G.

The person who said it is Olympic-sized pool has obviously never been to an Olympic Pool. I swam at the pool in Munich where Mark Spitz won all the medals, it is MUCH bigger than the one at All Stars. The pool in Tacoma is only 25 yards long for lap swimming. Anyhow, the gym is very clean, well-maintained, the sales people are not jerks and the trainers do not have bad attitudes. The price is good for what you receive monthly access to : aerobics classes, spinning, boxing, and all kinds of free measurements for body fat and free use of the pool. Its a great package deal. They need better hours though. The weekends are the worst. They should make it 11pm-M-Sunday instead of closing early on weekends. I can never get in my weekend workout because of that. 24 hours is not necessary, but later than 8pm would be Great.

I have visited Tacoma Allstar Fitness many times and I love going there. They have an Olympic size swimming pool for both laps and free swim. There is even a special shallow section for younger kids to play while you are working out. They have tons of room both upstairs and downstairs. Any type of machine, bike, or equipment you need for a workout I guarantee they will have it. They even have an upstairs daycare to drop off the kids while you have a workout. Not to mention a rock wall and tons of exercise classes to choose from.
