Let me first say that I was hired to work here.
I loved my job, and thought that I did not push people to purchase anything. I felt guilty when the manager or other girls would push our customers towards purchases, damage our expensive products without reason, or be rude/snobbish to customers who just want to "look around." After all, isn't the customer always right?
I would like to point out that I also worked in the Asian Mini Mart, around the corner from the Starbucks, where I would work the register, stock the floor, clean, and keep the store running.
So many things were wrong with this company...
1. They had absolutely no security/store phone in the Mini Mart, yet it would be open after sun set in the autumn and winter months.
2. I was instructed and trained, yet never paid for any of my time.
3. They would send me on useless, random tasks that they wanted completed, that obviously didn't fall under my job description.
4. (This is by far the worst of all)... I wasn't put on payroll. They told me, one week after I started, that I would be put on payroll and paid hourly, minus only a couple hours to volunteer with childcare. So I figured that I would be earning around $150 paychecks per week, especially since I worked decent hours, for a high school student. My manager, Ginhee, told me time and time again that I was going to be put on payroll. I never was. And I was paid a bi-weekly sum of $60, which came to... eh... $1.20/hour.
5. They moved away, without ever putting me on payroll, and completely abandoning their store. If you looked online at the end of May on Craigslist, they listed the entire store and all merchandise to sell it. (Totally educated people, right?) They never paid me correctly for my time and hours, and moved away to escape the problem. They used me, then ditched before they would be held accountable for anything.

They have good merchandise, but VERY pesky salespeople. The salespeople are consistdently following you around, showing you random stuff that has nothing to do with what you were intending to buy. They do not even ask if you want to take a look. They just keep showing you stuff, not even letting you shop. I was very dissapointed and irritated, as I only come to Vancouver once a year. They DO NO let up!

The merchandise in the store has a huge mark up. The sales girl wouldnt leave us alone and was clearly still in high school. The other reviewer was right about them using your child as a sales tool. Bottom line is you can find better merchandise for cheaper elsewhere.

My son and I love visiting this store because of their friendly staff and really nice art supplies. We buy a lot of birthday presents for friends there, and the art supply gifts are always a hit.

There are many amazing art ideas in this store, unique to any I have ever seen. The staff is very helpful, although, the merchandise is not cheap! Your kids will be hooked on things that they think they need.

The products at Young Art are superior to any other art supplies for kids. Unlike other art classes, they have an incredible way of teaching art to kids. My son Austin has gained so much confidence doing art. He has learned oil painting technique, watercolor, sketching, and pastel, and just wants to do more and more art classes- he talks about it every day. It is spendy, but worth every penny.

The retail store has a lot to offer- my son saves his money, looks forward o shopping, and I have given him all of the upgraded art products they have suggested, and it has helped his art compositions to advance.

Is great, but a lot of the stuff can be accomplished on your own and supplies are much cheaper elsewhere. You can find good fun art classes for kids of all ages and levels through community centers.

These people have good intentions, but use your child as a sales tool to buy more and more product, which isn't cheap. To advance in the class they tell you that your child needs this and then that, usually with your child in front of you. -- Beware
