Gateway to India was a great restaurant to eat at. The atmosphere was fun and the people that worked there were really nice and friendly and made the experience better. The food was good, especially the garlic naan.

I went to Gateway to India for the lunch buffet and I was very pleased with what they had to offer. I had only had Indian food twice before and I love it now!

I absolutely love Gateway to India. A haven for Indian food lovers, Gateway is located in a quieter section of 6th Ave. The atmosphere inside is just as relaxed. The menu offers many options and I always want to try something new.
The service is quick and friendly, and usually the owner will come out to ensure that your experience is satisfactory.
The food is delicious, and I never leave without taking at least half of my portion home. They do offer a range of spiciness for most entrees. Being a wimp when it comes to spicy food, I usually get a two, which is almost too hot for me. I'll usually get an order of garlic naan, which consists of four large pieces. Also makes good leftovers.
Gateway is two meals in one and the leftovers always last well.

If you like curry, you will love Gateway to India. Your dish can be as spicy as you want but remember to sallow some seeds on the way out or you will smell like curry tomorrow!

The waitstaff was extremely pleasant and helpful. The food was average. I would have given it two starts if not for the staff. The saag paneer was overly salty, although the cheese cubes were tasty. The chicken tikka was a bit weighed down by the tomato sauce, overpowering the rest of the spices in the dish. Naan was good.

The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The Saag paneer was some of the worst I've had. It might have just been a bad day, but this isn't anywhere close to the best Indian food I've had.

Gateway to India is by far the best Indian restaurant in this area, possibly the whole South Puget Sound. Great selections, outstanding service, sweet ambience. Give them your business--you won't regret it.

Gateway to India is one of Tacoma's finest restaurants. The food is top quality and absolutely delicious. Dinner entres are served in candle-heated bowls with a side of scrumptous jasmine rice and the portions are hearty. Service is solid and you'll almost always get a visit at your table from the owner C.J. I've NEVER been dissappointed by a dish there and the naan is to die for. If you're new to Indian food, try their lunch buffet. It's not ALL curry like a lot of people think. Beware, they're closed on Mondays.

Pros: flavors and service

Cons: Busy at lunch if you don't get there before noon and sometimes run out of naan on the buffet for a few minutes because people are crazy about it.

By far, Gateway is one of the best restaurants in Tacoma. The quality of food is always outstanding, it has not diminished at all with the recent expansion. The murgh tikka masala and the veggie korma are OUTSTANDING! But so is most everything on the menu. The rice that comes as a side with every dish is better than most full menu items at any other restaurant.

Gateway specializes in cuisine from Northern India, so it's different that what a lot of people think of when they hear Indian food, i.e. it's not all curry.

Treat yourself to Gateway, you won't be disappointed!
