It was two days before I had to fly to Japan, when I dropped my laptop and broke the LCD screen. It was a pretty big crisis for me, since I had non-stop meetings in Tokyo that would leave no time to fix the screen once I was in Japan, and being without my computer would have been more than a small problem. OnCall turned out to be real lifesavers. I had only less than a day in DC. I found them through google, and called them the day before I was flying in; they were very accommodating. I was able to have Gateway rush deliver my new LCD to OnCall, who installed it for me very promptly and professionally . My laptop was repaired without any problems or delays. They were truly a pleasure to do business with, and I recommend them highly.

Helped me with Slide Scanner

I stumbled across this firm the first time while riding down Duke St. in Alexandria...needed help with a power supply on a computer. They found a new one that would work, threw it in the computer, and I was "out the door". Couldn't quite believe that I had located a neighborhood place for computers that felt llke my helpful service station mechanic. Months later, I pulled out a 35mm slide scanner that I had purchased a few years ago to prepare a "eulogy" program - and now it wasn't working. Went thru back-and-forth with Konica/Minolta - took it to the photo shop, who sent it off, and I was told to expect a $186 repair. On the phone, I asked if they had checked the power supply - they did on on the spot, but had no replacement nor alternative to the $186. So I had them send it back to me. With no thought that OnCall25/8 knew anything about these devices, I drove over. Within about 10 minutes they had rummaged around and found a power supply that worked just fine, and I had to insist that I pay them at least something. Walked out less $10 with a working machine and now I can transfer all my old family slides. Thanks, guys - glad you are in the neighborhood.

Very Good Service

My hard drive was completely fried - didn't learn why, but they replaced it in a very timely manner (a couple of days, it had to be ordered). They were very professional and courteous and explained everything they had loaded on my new hard drive and some of the upgraded features they included. I would certainly recommend them to a friend and use them again.

I have dealt with Oncall 25/8 on two occasions. The first time, an electrical storm destroyed the hard drive and power supply of the computer; I did not have a backup of the files. I contacted Oncall 25/8, which I chose from the yellow pages, and was very pleased with their immediate response. Not only was the computer fixed but they were also able to recover the files! The second time occurred a few months after; the power supply failed again. They took the computer and replaced the part at no cost. Everyone I talked to in the company was always very understanding and polite. I very strongly recommend their services.

My computer was freezing at odd times; the only solution was to reboot. OnCall 25/8 fixed it, although it took a long time (9 days is a long time!) What they did was save my data and reload all my programs. When I got it back it still had a problem, which turned out to be the video driver. I guess we will never know exactly what caused the problem. However, when I took it back again the technicians were very dedicated to fixing it, and finally found the correct video driver. They went beyond the call of duty in working with me on the spot so that I didn't have to leave the computer again.
This is the second time I have used OnCall 25/8, and they have been conscientious and helpful in solving my computer problems.

We needed assistance with regard to the sound on our computer and with the DVD player. I called the assistance line, and they were extremely polite and helpful in solving our problem. They were successful in addressing our concerns and did it in a very prompt way. I would highly recommend them for future service and assistance.

We have used Oncall 25/8 several times. They have always responded promptly, either with an onsite visit, or by remote access. The technicians have been courteous and professional, and they have been able to solve the problems expeditiously. I would not hesitate to recommend them highly.

PDA Repair

My Sony PDA needed a new battery. Since I didn't have the right screwdriver to open the battery compartment, I decided to go to Radio Shack for help. They took a look at it and handed me about 4 different screwdrivers (none of which fit the screws). After about 10 minutes of me unsuccessfully trying to open the PDA while the Radio Shack attendant watched, I gave up. I took the PDA to 25/8 in Alexandria and in a matter of minutes, they had opened the PDA, exchanged the battery, and even replaced one of the screws that had been lost. The atmosphere is courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. The manager that day does a good job with both his customers and his fellow employees. A great computer repair store that deserves my future business.

Oncall 25/8 provided me with excellent service on many occasions. They connected remotely to resolve a number of issues, including virus concerns - which was not a part of the original fix! They were readily available, courteous and solved my problems quickly. I would highly recommend their services. They did a great job the first time around and continued to keep me up and running without any concerns or costs! Great job, oncall!

I recently used 25/8 to diagnose a problem that had been interfering with our work productivity at the office for weeks. The technician identified the problem (which had eluded our prior IT person) and figured out a method to circumvent the issue. Moreover, the technician (Steve) was courteous, attentive, bright and conscientious. I was very impressed with the whole package!! As a result, I would recommend 25/8 wholeheartedly, whether you have one computer or are networked as we are.
