.

Today, march 3, 2011, my beautiful 25 ft Chaparral boat was loaded onto a trailer and departed Sunset Boating Center and Dry Storage facility for a salvage sale-- having been deemed a total loss by my insurance company due to raccoon infestation damage to the entire interior of the boat .that occurred while my boat was stored at this facility. The infestation was so bad that even after an initial clean up, one major repair firm refused to board the boat to provide a repair estimate due to severity of the residual bio-hazard remaining on board.
One of the Marina personnel acknowledged that the company "...had a raccoon problem...." And while at the marina, I was advised by others that my boat was not the only one to sustain damaged as the result of the apparent rampart raccoon infestation that is present at, and around this firm's storage facilities.
The interesting thing about this entire ugly process was one of the managers at the Sunset told me that this problem was actually my fault because I did not visit my boat frequent enough--and it was they who discovered the damage that was caused by the raccoons---Really, now.....!!

In a way, I would have to agree with this individual: if you have your boat stored at Sunset's storage facilities, I would advise you to visit your boat?--and often--otherwise, your boat may end up like my beautiful--being totally out, loaded onto a trailer, and headed for a salvage sale due to the results of raccoon infestation damage!!!

And by the way, after having my boat stored at that facility for over 22 years, I was also told that I was fortunate that the firm did not hold me to the term of my storage contract--now that is really choice--isn't it.
