Great practice

by christine S.

I have always had great experiences with this practice. All of the doctors have been great. I had to wait a while on occasions, but that is the nature of doctor's offices. Unexpected emergencies surely occur and clients that do not realize that are obviously not realistic. What I love about this practice is that every time my baby is sick, they fit me in that same day. Dr. Park is wonderful.

Don't wast your time - awful practice

by Melody B.

I had my sons here when they were first born....that was 9 years ago.....we kept them there until we moved to Herndon. Until then we were not happy with the practice but figured we were limited in choices. We found new pediatric office in Reston (Reston Pediatrics), the difference was phenomenal!!! To begin with the office staff at Reston was incredibly helpful and polite. They didn't treat you like cattle and always made you feel welcomed. The wait time went down from 1 1/2 hrs to 15 mins (on a bad day). We have moved back into the area and as much as we hated to leave our Reston group we couldn't keep that commute....we decided to give A & L another try. To make a long story short....I am now dealing with the commute rather than the rude, unprofessionalism that plagues this group!!!

Great doctors...horribly run practice!

by Mary T.

We were clients of Alexandria Pediatrics for a period of 8 years with our two daughters. While we generally liked all of the doctors (except for the elder Dr. Sullivan), we finally left after the situation in their waiting room and general office management/billing got increasingly worse. This practice has become too large and the management hasn't found a way to keep up with all of the new families joining the practice each and every month. No exaggeration here: We would call first thing in the morning at 7:30 for a sick child visit. 10-15 minute of longer wait on hold--sometimes we were unable to do anything other than leave a message and pray someone would call back before noon. When we reached someone and got an appt, we would wait in the outside waiting room for often up to an hour or more. Then we would be ushered into the individual waiting rooms thinking we would be seen soon. Nope. Often another 45-60 minute wait. If you have 2-3 hours for either a sick visit or annual check up (most of that time waiting), then this is the practice for you. If you work, you will find this practice incredibly frustrating. On a separate note, re: Dr. Sullivan: He missed glaringly obvious signs over the course of a week that my daughter had a kidney infection. She had a 103-4 temp for a week without any other symptoms. He kept telling us, "If the temp is not better in 1-2 days, come back for another appt." We did that twice and finally when I brought a limp 5 year girl in my arms back to the office, I asked if maybe we should have her urine or blood checked since there were absolutely no other symptoms. He shrugged off the suggestion but decided to do it. Within one hour, she was admitted to Alexandria Hospital for a two-day hospital stay where she was properly diagnosed. And to add insult to injury, an error was made in the way this hospital stay was coded which resulted in an erroneous bill. Despite being loyal patients for so long, the billing office told me over and over that I would need to contact the insurance company to resolve and wouldn't listen or help resolve the problem. After a lengthy investigation it was determined that it was an error in the dr's coding (not something a patient controls) and finally a new, lovely Irish woman in the billing department corrected the problem....two years after the hospitalization. Bottom line: Find a smaller, more customer-friendly practice.

Excellent services, knowledgeable practitioners

by Moira B.

We have been at this practice for 5 years and all the doctors have been wonderful to work with. The practice have enough doctors that you can be seen at anytime. They have weekend hours to accommodate when children are actually sick. The doctors provide age appropriate developmental benchmarks. They ask questions and encourage parents to talk about what they are actually doing and then encourage best practices. They also provide guidance on how to change behaviors in your child.
