Riverbend Park, a riverfront park in Great Falls, offers kayaking, fishing, and summer camps. I went kayaking for 2.5 hours on the Potomac River. It was my first time kayaking, and the two instructors were helpful and nice. I was able to kayak at a good pace, but another instructor will stay with those newbies who lag behind. The section of the Potomac River is dammed, so the water is more like a lake, and the current is not too strong. The kayaking tour was supposed to have a wildlife theme, but we did not look for wildlife at all. Fortunately, we got to see a deer hop and swim across the river. The cost was a little high but worth it for the fun and 2.5 hours.

The visitor center is a nice-looking building with a deck that overlooks the river. The park was not too busy with visitors, although I was there in July, so you could easily find a place to sit at the visitor center if you need to rest. The visitor center is supposed to have a snack bar and a shop for fishing and other supplies, but I did not use those services. The visitor center also has restrooms.

Hours vary based on the season. The park has other activities throughout the year, so check out the website for their calendar.
