I wish I had never gotten involved with this company. When I went to buy my car I had told them what I could afford to pay but the payment ended up being way more due to the high interest rate with C&F. I understand that I needed to repair my credit but this is ridiculous. My very first payment was due in mid-March and I mailed it 10 days in advance. They called me the day after the due day and said they hadn't gotten it. I assured them that I had mailed it in plenty of time to go from NC to VA very easily. They wanted me to submit another payment. I refused. After another 5 days, they still had not rec'd. my payment so I submitted another one via phone and paid extra fees... which were ridiculous! I stopped payment on the original check. I asked them to call me if they rec'd. the check. The second payment got there in 7 days but they posted it twice... which caused all hell to break loose on my bank account. They reimbursed me for the bank fees but I couldn't understand how in two payments I had so much go wrong. Eventually, I got a call from a C&F rep in early June to say that they had finally rec'd. that check that was lost and it was postmarked just as I had said it was. They called me when I was at the hospital right after undergoing a heart cath! I refuse to ever deal with them again and I am trying to figure out how to get out from under them now without telling them to take the car and shove it.
Not a very good company. Poor businesship. They must have a high turnover, I seldom talked to the same person more than once. Twice I set up a payment for a specific day (payday) and both times they posted the check the day we talked on the phone, saying that I requested that day. So the posted check bounces and I get another $30 added to the check that I am 1 week behind with already (yes I mean 1 week) that costed me another $30 for being late. Plus it costs $17 to pay by phone. I paid my vehicle off in April and have not recieved my title yet. It's July.
Yes they give high risk loans, but that doesn't change the rules of the engagement. Calling the home when late on a payment is ok. Sending written notice is ok. Calling place of business is ok if there has been a serious lapse. Calling those listed as personal references never ok (that is not going to make a person pay any faster). Making threats that extended family can be held accountable for your loan, not ok. Not making good on a title that has been paid for, very poor business.

My 2007 Camry was financed through C&F, I paid on time every month. the first letter I got from them was to tell me their address had changed to a p.o. box. I have never talked with one customer service rep or anyone, no one from this company calls me at home or work. I don't even know anything about this company. All I know is they treated me ery well because they have never called me for anything. Good Luck everybody!!!!! If they financea another car for me it will be okay.

The interest rate is absurd (and shameful), my car payment is almost as high as my rent, and I wish I had never gotten trapped in this loan; however, C&F has not been the pain that I thought they would be.
It was my fault for trading up and accepting the crappy loan, especially without doing my due diligence. The next day I looked up C&F, saw all of the negative feedback and immediately regretted my new car. I thought I would be harassed and insulted regularly, but in over 2 years, the only thing I've had to deal with - and only occasionally - is the incessant automated calls when I'm off by a day or two. I'll take that over a live call any day.
And for the one(s) who is blasting everyone about paying on time and clearing up credit; though you are right, you are clearly a C&F employee. There is no justification for bad customer service - none.
OK, to all of the people who pay your bills on time, why are you at a secondary finance company? Obviously, you have had credit issues in the past! I have to agree with all who have been harassed by these so call reps from C&F. My payment was due on the 6th. I am being harassed for being 5 days late. I'm glad to know that I am not alone. Things happen and nobody is perfect! We may fall short sometimes and have to make sacrifices. I bet that the smart ass who is saying pay your bills on time work for the company.
I have to agree with everyones review, that anyone should avoid C&F Finance at any costs. The dealership set up my loan 3 different times, and THEY chose C&F, not me. I wish now they would have turned me down, maybe they did? I ran into a situation working out of state, money is tight and I have fallen behind (10 days). I called them 1 week in advance of payment due and they said no problem, send in when you can, i asked of late fees, they said there was none. I then realized the next day that I would not get paid until 2 days later than I said I would pay. I promptly called them to notify and several people (tammy, mrs Klein) did nothing but ridicule me, treat me like a dog, raise their voice etc. These people have no compassion, and I would think they will all rot in hell for treating customers in such a way. I have been in customer service my entire life, and would never treat a customer with such disrespect, even when they owe me money! I agree they are very shady, and their employees all possess one skill, RUDENESS!! *Ask the dealer who they are using for finance..I didnt and I am paying the price now!
my husband and i bought a new vehicle the month before he was deployed for a year because we were expecting our 2nd child. the first month our payment was due our allotment hadnt gone thru yet and between my husband leaving i didnt think about it, it being a hard time and it being just the first month it was due. they called threatening to repo our only car if i didnt pay them that minute. i of course was in tears, i finally got it all fixed and the allotment going threw, well the second month my payment was due the sent our money back saying it was already paid, then a week later called saying we were late again. i finally got that fixed, but come the third month the called 2 days before mt due date and asked why the allotment hadnt come threw, i told them that it wasnt due yet and that it comes out the same time for everyone who has one set up threw the military, they told me that was good enough, so being pregnant, tired of chasing a 3yr old and sad from missing my deployed husband, i simply told them to get over it and suck it up they get their money every month without fail.
i am now trying to get rid of this truck because of these ppl and i asked if i sold it back to the car lot could i give them two separate payments to pay it off, they said i wasnt allowed to do that, that they wouldnt take two different payment types. the only thing i know left to do is let them repo it. they are horrible HORRIBLE people
This company now utilizes Facebook and MySpace to investigate/ send emails to anyone that appears to be associated with you or your page...even if you are a DAY late...
If you have a not-so clean credit history...save your money and buy a nice used vehicle free and clear..within your budget. Do not make an impulsive buy. Play it smart...as this company will linger like a stale FART!

I have a loan with them for my 300c and I have fell behind a few days and one time they even deferred a payment for me because I had been sick for 3 weeks.
Everytime I call they are helpful and always are friendly. One time an African American rep there was a little cocky on the phone but started being nice after I joked around with him about something. They have a tough job and have to listen to people over the phone that are late paying make up excuses. All they care about is when are you going to pay them back the money that they LOANED TO YOU.
You should be thankful someone gave you a loan and certainly if you used C&F you were rejected by other banks and they HELPED You get your car or loan. They are taking huge risks in the economy and to ensure they are able to help others they must make sure you pay. Simple business 101.
If you loaned someone thousand of dollars you did not know personally and they avoided you and were late paying would you just ignore them? I think not.

Someone posted on here ( I am sure it was Doug Dow) that if we just paid our payment then there would be no problems>?!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well little do they tell you that they can post your payment any way that they see fit and if that throws you in default then so be it! They have persued legal action on me since they have re-poed my car, I am going to court and let the judge see all of my evidence ( I am going with a lawyer I should add!) and let him see the number of phone calls that my family, friends and the embarrasement that they caused me on my job! I love paybacks if I loose I still will have the benefit of letting them know that I fought them and was not afraid to come to Henrico County Courthouse!

Even in light of our nations economic downfall..people losing steady work etc..this company will not even CONSIDER working with the customer on rate and payment recalculation.
One would think that an auto finance company would much PREFER making an arrangement versus taking posession of a potentially questionable vehicle and time/fees of their own associated with potential repair and resale.
They ask for the buyer to list 5 references...but they do not tell the buyer that they will call any of these people looking for your ass if you are a moment late on a payment! No where in the type does it say or allow that..it was explained as part of the review/decision process.
They will dial your phone incessantly with variations of their main phone number..along with phone numbers from the 757, 703, & 540 area codes.
They will also send creepy looking people to put a note on your door or vehicle ( as described by my neighbor)
I have truly only encountered one polite person on the phone and try to contact that individual only when there is an issue.
If you need a car..save up your money and buy a used one outright versus using this company. You will be much happier..I assure you...

Think about this.... YOU chose to go with this company. It was YOUR responsibility to do the research about the practices of this company before signing the paper. It was/is YOUR responsibility to make your payments on time, and review all of the terms and conditions of your loan. The economy has been a messed up for years now, it is up to YOU to budget your finances, and not expect your creditors to kiss your butts. Everyone has hardship, some worse than others, but making excuses and avoiding the problems just make them worst.
Maybe if you keep your credit clean, you would not have to deal with this secondary company. Maybe you could be with a company that would allow more flexibility with payments and hardships.
One person complained about an extension, but this is a courtsey!! No company is obligated to give you an extension, SUCK IT UP!! Either pay the bill, or turn the d**n car in!
Each of you need to take a course in managing your finances, and stop crying because your broke! IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT....DON'T BUY IT!! I was a customer with this company and recently came into some hard times. Not gonna go into a long story but i was a payment behind according to these full of bologna people and was threatened with repo. I asked how they came up with that and was told they are a special finance company so they can apply the payment to whatever they wanted to apply it to meaning they applied it to interest so that's how i became behind. So in doing that it really messed me up and i didn't know where i was in payments but i was still making them. However in january i get a call that i needed to make two payments before that week was out. i told them i was gonna make it on friday and did and on saturday someone was at my door to take my van and i had just made the payment. THAT WAS THE WORST THING EVER!! i was so ticked off because i'm a single mother of four now with no transportation. im currently renting a van now. They took my money and still took my van and sold it and expects me to pay for the rest. they can wait till hell freezes over because that was wrong. This place is an absolute rip off and i hope someone realizes it soon and shuts them down. please think twice before financing with this sorry and rude company.

Okay so I've had my loan with C&F for two plus years and have been on time before time since payment month number one. Well this month, I was almost twenty days late (due date - Feb. 16th) and the harrassing calls began. I was out of town on business and didn't check my home voicemail often because all of my friends, family and co-workers used my work phone or email to reach me while I was away. I received five messages in five days from a C&F rep and made a mental note to call them upon my return home because I knew it couldn't be that urgent considering that I am always on time and I wasn't a whole 30 days late yet. That's when they started calling family members - godparents, cousins - they even called my aunts ex husbands house. How in the world they knew how to contact any of these individuals is beyond me, but they did! Imagine how embarrassing that is. Did they think that in twenty days I had skipped town on them? Are they serious? Once I started being contacted by my relatives - I sent the payment via Western Union from out of town instead of mailing in a check when I got back home. It was just disgusting how they handled it. I am so sure that there are people who are more than twenty days past due that they need to stalk, but surely not me. That action right there has caused me to not refer or do business with them any longer. In these touch economic times no one needs any unnecessary hassle... I opted to take the remaining balance out of my 401k and pay the darn car off. It's worth the 401k penalty. Now you know - that is plum ridiculous.

Okay so with the economy the way it is spiraling downhill who in the world needs insensitive, uncompassionate service providers to have to deal with. My January car payment was not even 30 days late before Valerie started calling me every single day. She finally reached me over the weekend and I told her that I was going to make the payment on Monday. She told me that the payment would be unacceptable because they had to have it that day (Saturday). She told me to go to a Western Union or Money Gram to send my payment and I told her that I don't have extra funds to do that. She blatantly told me that I had no choice because they were setting me up for repossession on Monday so if I didn't want to be repossessed, I had better make my payment that day. Are you serious? Not even 30 whole days late and ya'll are THREATENING repo? Really? Well I still sent it on Monday and I have saved and recorded all of our conversations. I am absolutely sick to death of C&F Finance Company. They are nothing but a bunch of bullies and the madness needs to stop. They will eventually fold anyway so I am no longer going to worry. My next payment is due this week and I am going to send it on time and try to stay on top of it from here on out because I cannot STAND - I mean I DESPISE their so called customer service. You can't tell me that their employees have never fallen behind on something. It happens to the best of us. LEAVE US ALONE!
My suggestion would be to not get involved with this company. This is my second time around with them and you would think that they would be more flexible with a repeat customer. Had I had this same experience the first go round - I would have opted NOT to go with them again. But they were okay the first time I dealt with them with my other vehicle, but this time is just the PITS! They don't have to worry about me ANYMORE after August... My second vehicle with them will be paid off and good riddens C&F...harrass someone else's family!

My income changed in the a few months ago and that's when the trouble started. I received several phone calls from several different people I couldn't keep up as to who I had talked to. And they all said different things. Felicia, Brandon, Brian, Carol, Shawn, the other Shawn. I tried to explained to them when I first realized that I would have trouble. They wouldn't listen, I didn't qualify for an extension. Hello my income decreased. I was being proactive by being honest with them to work out a solution. They were not hearing that at all. I need ed to come with payment by a certain date or else. Final after talking again to several different people I get an extension but not the date I explained I could do. I had never had any problems at this point never been late. and the one time I am late...the y starting making harrassing phone calls to my house, to my family, and job several times the day. They have stressed me out to the point my hair is shedding because of stress because they threaten to the reposses the only car I have to go to work to pay my bills including theirs!!!!!
The Attorney General needs to be made aware of their practices how they are preying on people. I realize that have an obligation and want to fulfill that obligation but they are very difficult to work with. I even asked them to show me in writing where it says that the car would be repo in a certain amount of days. I was told angrily by Brian that this is our policy not based on the loan agreement!!!!!

Try being approved and having your vehicle for 2 1/2 weeks and being called back to dealership and being told you loan did not go through. We tried calling them to see what the problem was and they would not discuss it with me. Have been with this company for a little over 6 months, I'm late with payments more often than not due to health complications and work payroll dates being less than timely. They have always been courtious and have always tried to accomodate me.

If it is ANY solace to these customers C&F Finance Company treats its employees poorly. As someone who was with them for a number of years I can attest to that fact.
"Special" Finance companies make loans to people with poor credit expecting that a high percentage of their customers will have repayment problems in the future as the best predicter of future repayment history is past repayment history. People with poor credit really need to think twice before purchasing a new or fairly new used car. Due to interest rates people with poor credit pay a higher percentage of disposable income for car payments than do people with good credit. Persons in special finance programs should be looking for only basic transportation and forgo luxury vehicles or SUVS and heavy duty trucks. They also should remember that that payment of $400 to $600 has to be made at Christmas time, when a wage earner misses time due to illness, when a parent or sibling dies, or if a child needs to visit the emergency room. Because you have saved $1000 for a downpayment over the course of a year does not mean that you can afford an expensive car payment month after month for 60 months. Also remember that car salesmen are going to try to convince you that you can refinance the car after one year of paying. SPECIAL FINANCE COMPANIES DO NOT REFINANCE THEIR CAR NOTES!!!!!!! Unless you are a member of a credit union or have a family memeber to co-sign for you at a small local bank, the chances of refinancing from special finance to regular finance within the first three years are practically nil. Take control of your finances and life and do not give in to high pressure sales techniques. If you can not easily afford the car payment walk out of the dealership.
We have our vehicle financed through this company and they are AWFUL! At the onset, we never received any type of welcome package or courtesy call which told me that they really didn't care for new members. We had a premature baby, born 2 months early and were in the hospital for quite some time, so we unfortunately fell behind on our payments. When we contacted the company, or were contacted BY the company, the people were rude and hateful. They didn't care that we had a child in Intensive Care or that my wife was in critical condition, they just wanted their money. They wouldn't work with us to accept a partial payment. Nope, they don't do partial payments so don't even try. Truly, I wonder what they would do if we sent a partial payment anyway? Would they reject it, apply it to our account, or pocket it for their personal shopping? I'm in the customer service industry myself, and I would never treat people that way. I understand that there are people out there that "work the system", but even then, they should never be treated in the manner that my family has been treated. We don't like the thought of refinancing our vehicle, but really want to do so with another company just to get away from this awful group. Recommendation: even as a last resort, DON'T use this company! They should go out of business!!!!!

My advice is to never go with a loan office that ask you for more than two contact people. Because if you don't want anyone knowing your personal business then you need not even look at this company. With the way the world is today that everything is going up except your pay checks then you have your kids to care for, you fall behind sometimes. If you are a day late they are calling your house, job, cell phone, and family members. They need to understand that if they call and leave a message then when you get home or receive it you will call them back, but no they will call you 2-3 times in one day then start calling your family members. Just stay away from this company!!

I haven't been with C&F Finance Company very long, however, I would never recommend them to anyone. Single mother got into a bit of a slump due to income issues, they would not let me make partial payments. They called me 16 times within the FIRST month of my purchase to verify my information and make sure I was going to make my payment on time. When I sent in a partial payment, they called my work, home, and cell phone at least 10 times a day wanting me to pay to remainder or they were going to repo my vehicle. When they couldn't get in touch with me they got my family involved. I have written a letter to them stating that I had voice mail on all of my phones and if they included my family one more time I was going to suit them and contact the Better Buisness Bureau. Since then my account is up to date and it is finally quite. I have spoken to two different people about changing my payment due date and gotten two totally different responses. One wants to charge me for it then stated that I couldn't because I hadn't been with their company for a year and the other says it's free as long as you sign up for automatic withdrawals. Needless to say, I don't plan on giving this company any of my banking information. I have on the other hand been trying to get other companies to refinance my vehicle so that I may get away from this company. My advise, don't go with this company at all. They charge you for everything extra.

C & F finance is a terrible finance company! The company was given by the car dealer for our new car. It is a company that deals with people that they feel might be at risk. Our payments had been on time every time for 2 1/2 years- suddenly life threw a curve ball --the payment was 1 WEEK behind and they decided to threaten to repo it!! Then they said I could call and for $50 extend my payment for another month-This company is crazy - one time they called and got a payment from me then called my hubby and got a payment from him--then refused to give one payment back!! AVOID AT ALL COST!!!
Cons: Shady, unreasonable, and disrespectful
they moved our payment date. it messed us all up. then they did not set the allotment up proberly on there end. it was all screwed up. then they wanted us to come out of pocket for there mistakes. THEY ARE VERY VERY VERY VERY BAD!
