What a charming shop for the most discriminating of bibliophiles. As a true believer in the importance of the independent bookstore and the importance of the consumer to support them, you will find The Griffin located in the historic district of Fredericksburg with a good variety of both new releases and very gently used inventory. The store offers a strong selection of titles, a coffee bar and related assortment of gifts and cards. It provides comfortable seating to browse and visit on the main level and the second floor has a wonderful reading room with a large sofa to literally curl up in front of a fireplace and make your selections in comfort. The lovely owner, that I have found to usually be on site, and a pleasant staff have always been eager to provide service and if they don't have your choice in stock have always been willing to special order. They frequently host local authors, have a weekly "Mike Night" and other entertainment and you can always join their bookclub and make new friends. If you love books and their environment - then you should make sure you visit - I don't think you will be disappointed ~ I know I love it ...

This place is really nice and the owner is very friendly. I went soliciting for RCASA there last year and was very impressed by her willingness to help us out. The interior of this store is beautiful, and the selection of drinks is great. I wish I had more spending money, as i would frequent there more often.
