We live in the neighborhood and sometimes dinner is good and the service is good and you feel like it was money well spent. Then sometimes the food is just ok but the price was super high and the service kinda stunk.

staff very friendly, chief doesnt care he's being watched yells and critizices customer choices. food costs 2x what is should,as for flavor, chief might as well be a grill guy at mcd's no imagination, "pretty presentation" ok if you stick to wine, but watch the prices VERY carefully

This is the first time I've ever complained about salty food and then been assaulted by the kitchen help and wait staff. I'm so traumatized after our meal this evening that I don't even know where to start. Let's just say that I've already composed a letter to the owner and I'm seriously considering a call to my lawyer in the morning. Look out for a cook called Bill - he ordered us to leave and then followed us down the street until I pulled out my phone and threatened to call the police. My husband and I are 62 and 57 and were terrorized by this hulking cook.

The last review doesn't even make sense...that is really all I can say. Nothing but exceptional service and outstanding food, and no-one can even come close to the AMAZING cheese list they have! Don't believe everything you read, defiantly worth checking out, you will feel as if you have been transported on a mini vacation at The Green Onion. Did I mention the great beer and wine list? My highest recommendations, I love to go and eat cheese and let the server recommend a new wine! Bon Appetit!

Pros: Wine, Cheese, Service, Patio, Ambiance

Cons: Sometimes have to wait a bit for table if you don't have reservations

Tried lunch at the Green Onion on Colley Avenue in Ghent. Expecting alot-got a over priced, terrible food. I had the burger. The meat tasted old and when ask for ketchup-yes-I know. I like ketchup with fries. I was informed by the aloft waitress that they did not have ketchup. My friend ordered the Lobster Roll-It was disgusting. It did not have the naturally sweet flavor and had turned pink (inside) I tried a piece and It tasted as if it had been frozen and left out too long. When the person at lunch with me was asked if she had water-she made a joke about added beer. The snotty server stated "people do not switch from water to beer-they switch from water to wine." I have dined in New York, Chicago, Europe, etc and the ladies who run this place are so full of themselves that it was laughable. The only time the server was friendly was when it was time to pay the check. Her tip was 15%-I usually always leave a 20% tip or more. I'll spend my money elsewhere!

Pros: None-flies everwhere!,

Cons: Snotty servers, terrible food, expensive for bad food and service!

Excellent little restaurant on Colley Avenue in the Ghent District. Small in size but cozy and busy. Our server was extremely nice and very informed about the menu and what wines to pair the food with. We started with the Tuna Tartar which was an excellent starter along with their kalamata onion bread and honey-thyme butter. Our entree was the pecan encrusted rainbow trout with mushroom-garlic ragout which had we not been full, would have ordered a separate side of since it was absolutely delectable. Also, there are several vegetarian entree options that all looked good, which we thought was nice to see on a menu. Another plus---it is a nonsmoking restaurant!
