.

The Pope-Leighey House, located within walking distance of the Woodlawn Plantation, was built by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright in Falls Church in 1939. It is a 1,200 square-foot, one-story house made of wood, brick, glass and concrete and designed with the middle class family in mind. When you walk through the home, you think how stylish and simple it is--and how difficult it would be to live in such a small home! We had a one-hour guided tour of the home. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly in her explanations of the materials used, the problems with the architecture (mostly with the flat roof with no gutters, lack of insulation), the uncomfortable seats, the old-fashioned kitchen appliances, etc. Tours cost $8.50 for adults and $4.00 for children. This tourist attraction gets only 3 stars because my companion was bored--I guess that tours of historical homes are not for everyone. I would give the tour 4 stars.
