Star has some of the best furniture in the Houston area. However, as all companies do, they try to sell you for an extra few hundred dollars, the almighty protection plan. Beware, the protection plans are SCAMS designed with fine print

We almost didn't go because of bad reviews, but we weren't finding anything we like at other places so we gave it a try. We went in late at night and saw EXACTLY what we wanted in about 15 minutes. The only problem is we were looking for a whole bedroom set and the only had clearance "as-is" pieces are we were told that set is no longer available anywhere. We left he store and went online to see if the set was available ANYWHERE. It was available but the pieces being sold at Star Furniture cost lest because of clearance. So we went back during the day and there was another person (MUCH more knowledgeable) and not only did he give us a discount for the clearance items, he also was able to order the rest of the set and saved us about $2000 included taxes and delivery. I haven't got the ordered items yet (should be 4-6 weeks) but the deal was great. I would recommend this place to someone who isn't sure what they want, but is looking for a deal.

Bought a dining room set and 4 years later, the leg broke. No big deal, I will have it repaired. I then noticed this was broken because of a poor repair before I bought the furniture. They sold me a broken chair. This was never disclosed to me and when I called to speak to someone about it, the customer service rep was very cold and quoted the one-year return policy. I spoke to a manager at the store I bought it from and they referred me to customer service. I explained my poor service experience through them and she had customer service contact me. They asked for pictures of the broken chair. I sent them and they said I broke the chair and had it repaired and it broke again. Had this been the case, how was I so adept to match the stain perfectly that leeched into the wood at the sight of the break? Why would I call them after a second break? It would have taken them all of 15 minutes and maybe $100 to repair the chair, but they chose to accuse me of lying to them. I have spent $10,000 over the past 5 years there and Tiffany tried very hard to finally help me by offering a $100 gift card to their store, but I do not see me ever going back there after their customer service treated me the way they did. I would recommend you buy your furniture somewhere else that actually cares when you need them to right a wrong.

Apparently Star doesn't make enough money selling furniture... they have to nick you wiith service fees. Restocking, storage,etc. There are plenty of REPUTABLE furniture stores in the area... no reason to deal with weasels like this. Try Chic Warehouse on Yale instead.

I must concur with the others who said if you're unsure about purchasing furniture from Star Furniture; shop at another store. My experiences were pretty bad at the 7111 1960 store and the Southwest freeway store. I have been looking meticulously for a Queen sized bed for over 6 months, and I shop not only for beauty but practicality and reasonable prices. I like to comparison shop, and buy when it's a good deal, the furniture is a perfect fit to my existing home furninshings. Their sales people kept hounding and haggling me over making a decision when I said, "I'm just looking." When I didn't buy anything from the store, they dropped me like a bad habit, and waited on the next person coming through the doors. At the Southwest location, no one even bothered to ask me if I needed help until I was ready to leave. I attended one of their decorating seminars, completed the decorating help form, and submitted it to Customer Service. I talked to one sales woman at length about the plans for my home, but the interior designer never even bothered to return my call. I work very hard for my money, and no one treats me like a stepchild.
Star Furniture has really beautiful furniture, but extremely horrible customer service. There are too many other options in furniture stores, and Star has yet to realize it has a serious customer service issue. They overestimated their importance with me.

I purchased $1,200 in bedroom furniture at Star Furniture a little over a year ago. It had an uneven spot on the front which turned out to be a well-concealed defect. They covered it up very well, but it didn't last. The veneer began to come unglued a few months after it was delivered. It got worse and worse and worse until the front piece on the dresser was popping off. The nightstands flaked and the finish chipped away, even where there was no other mark to show damage. You would think the company would give me a refund for such a shoddy piece of work. No....they have no integrity ! My advice is ...don't even set foot into the showroom floor.

What they fail to tell you until they get you into the store is that you then have to buy their box springs... which have inflated prices. For example, if you buy the king size "spring rain pillowtop matress" on sale for $399, you then have to also buy the box springs which brings your total to about $1200. I've never heard of box springs that cost $800!!?? When the sales associate was asked why the box springs were so much she stated "The box springs are actually more important than the matress because it supports all your weight!". Since when are people more concerned with the box spring than the matress? In sum, I would not go back to Star Furniture as a matter of principal. They have poor and misleading sales tactics. I would not recommend anyone shop at a place that tries to deceive their customers!

I feel as though I have been duped. I got a good price on a great mattress from Star Furniture. I was also GUARANTEED at the point of sale a refund on the delivery charge. A couple of days ago I received a postcard in the mail from Star which stated that they "are unable to honor my request". This is one of the common selling points in buying a mattress, either free delivery or free bed frame. Now I end up not getting either. I really do feel like I have been done terribly wrong somewhere along the line by a representative of Star Furniture. So far I have been unable to reach any resolution in this matter. I recommend one of the MANY other furniture stores around town and hope that they treat you much better than Star has treated me. Shame on you Star Furniture for your dirty business tactics....

UPDATE: I have since writing my original review received a phone call from my salesman (three months after my purchase) asking if my delivery charge had ever been refunded. I told him no and he stated that they would by-pass the claims department (the ones responsible for my dissatisfaction) and simply credit the charge back to card. It took some effort (and angry, demanding letters) but I got finally got what I was promised. Better late than never, I suppose.

Pros: Great product, good delivery/set-up service

Cons: Off-site customer service is TERRIBLE, Guarantees made at point of sale not kept!!!!

What they failed to mention is that I would also lose the $65 scotch-guarding fee I paid. So, cumulatively, I am out $130 for a couch I no longer own. What's more, I had to wait over a week for them to pick it back up, and they have yet to credit my card for the return, and it has been almost a month!
I would recommend shopping elsewhere if you are not 100% sure about your purchase!
