Never Forget
by Anonymous
Although Brucettes has enjoyed all that success has afforded it as a business and the owner has prospered there is NO REASON to be RUDE. A friend of mine and her daughters experienced, first hand, how when success is granted to some it can go to their head. It is the customer that afford Lewis Hoffman of Brucettes to have multiple locations, employees, and provide financial security for the owner. So my advise to him (Lewis Hoffman), would be STAY IN THE BACK, and allow your trained, kind and respectful staff serve your customers. You may not need one woman's business, but you do need multiple women's business. If you are as RUDE to all your customers as you were to my friend, in the presence of her children I am almost sure your feeling of being untouchable would soon fade. Never Forget, that those you pass going up will be the ones you pass going down. Your business is built on people so treat them with respect.

Disappointed mother and daughters
by Anonymous
I visited the Brucettes San Felipe store for the first time and was treated horribly by the so called owner Lewis Hoffman. I has a difficult time listening to the customers needs and giving them what they asked for. I was shown many shoes of various colors but I asked for black. Finally I was shown black shoes for my daughters in the back where the shoes are stored and that is where they tried on the shoes. When asked their shoe measurement. I was treated rudely and yelled that "He Did Not Need My Business". My daughters were very upset and said "They did not want any shoes from that store ever". This is why people shop online. Hoffman has no respect for women, no patience to listen to the customer and he is not a gentleman. Our younge ladies need to see professional men doing their job and being men of intgrity. Mr. Willie Bowden who measured my daughters was great even under pressure from his boss. He told me their foot measurement. 7/22/08

Great Sandal Sale!
by CarolK1985
Dear Brucettes,
I want to thank you for letting me into your store 5 minutes before you closed. Knowing it was your sandal sale, I wanted to come and get a nice pair of sandals that i fell in love with after seeing it on my sister in law. I also want to thank you for hiring this one particular cashier (Babacar) who helped me search for another pair of shoes. His patience, professional demeanor and great attitude is what excellent customer service is about.

Pros: Great Selection
Cons: Sometimes Expensive

Great Flats for Wide Feet
by SmittyP
The customer service here is amazing. I went in there looking for a pair of black flats for my wide and retarded small feet since any pair of flats I buy usually end up blistering my feet like crazy. So I asked a sale associate for help and he was incredibly helpful with finding me a pair of black flats. He gave me a variety of choices and they were all within my price range. I love it here! And I'd definitely come back.
Pros: Great Selection

Patience be his virtue
by Jenatolla007
The gent that I dealt with, while being a little rough around the edges and selling every shoe as "THE most comfortable shoe you can buy", was patient and kept his sense of humor while bringing me shoe after shoe in both wide and medium as the width changes from manufacturer to manufacture. While also working with other customers he watched me and noted shoes I admired and when he came back with the shoes I had sent him for he'd also bring, in wide and medium, the shoes he saw me admire. If the shoe I liked wasn't available in my size, he'd bring another that resembled them very closely. I was IMPRESSED at his patience and hope he got a BIG commission on my sale (bought 2 pair - one HE brought that was on sale 1/2 off by the way and was within my "shoe criteria"). If shoes had always been this easy to buy, THAT FIT RIGHT, and all salesmen had been as attentive as Bill Pettis, I would not have severe spurs, ingrown toe nails and fallen arches! You get what you give ladies and I was determined to have fun choosing shoes and Bill caught that and joined me! A++
Pros: Lots of styles my size foot -med to wide
Cons: Few styles in my Mom's - AAAA

R U Rich?
by canwetalk
Yes, Brucette's is a God-send for those with hard-to-fit needs; however, for the rest of us, go elsewhere. I asume the salespeople are on commission, and their attitude reflects same. They size you up, decide if you're going to buy and have the money, and treat you accordingly. Where are the female salespeople? Diversity?
Pros: Carry hard-to-fit sizes
Cons: Snooty salespeople

Brucette's Shoes, Houston
by benny007
I have ultra-narrow, boney, very hard to fit feet (8AAAA). Shoe shopping has always been a frustrating, futile experience, usually leaving me empty-handed and in tears. When I could find shoes in my size they pretty much only came in black. One day I stumbled on Brucette's on line and called to see if they REALLY had a big selection in sizes. I was assured that they did so the next Saturday I drove down from Austin. I was warmly greeted by Dan, who quickly told me he was sure he could find something I liked. I was floored when he brought out about 20 pair of shoes.....to start. I was in hog heaven!! Bronze shoes, pink shoes, white shoes, silver shoes -- plus black, of course. I bought 10 pair of shoes and loved all but one pair. Dan was great -- patient, friendly and helpful. Service after the sale was great, too -- one pair wasn't quite as comfy when I got them home as I had thought. I called Dan and he said just send them back, no problem. I'm going back this weekend for some summer dress sandals, and called ahead to be sure Dan will be there. Price-wise I found them reasonable. The store is dazzling, with hundreds of pairs of colorful shoes, fancy hats and unusual handbags. It irritates me that I live in a major city and no store in town (even one so-called speciality store for "hard to fit" sizes) carries my size. So I'm a big Brucette's fan! The drive is nothing compared to being able to avoid frustration and actually get some nice shoes that really fit.
Pros: great selection and sales staff, good after-sale service
Cons: there's not one where I live!

by wataugagirl

Wonderful Selection and Service
by stephm12658
Brucettes is a wonderful place to shop. I wear a size that is very easy to find (8 Medium) but it is impossible to find help in most shoe departments. I'm always impressed with the personal customer service I receive when I am shopping at Brucettes. They still know the importance of giving you time to try on a new pair of shoes and it is really nice to have someone that knows how a pair of shoes is supposed to fit.

unacceptable customer "service"
by petunia02
Yes, the selections are terrific, as are the availabilities of sizes, but I won't give them my time and money. I made the trip in from Katy after receiving a phone call from them, telling me that my order had arrived. When I got to the store, no one there had any knowledge of my order and doubted that anyone had called me. Words were exchanged, but they gave no apologies. It was suggested by the "manager" that I not visit the store again. I've never been treated so badly and rudely by anyone, especially by someone whose job is to provide customer service and should know that he can easily lose business to competitors. Needless-to-say, I have not gone back and have discouraged others from shopping there.

You Can Always Find Great Shoes Here
by anita_k
I wear size 12 and every time I go to a chain shoe store it's the same story -- sorry, we only carry up to a size 11. Not at Brucette's. On my last visit I asked for a black, medium heel pump. The salesman brought 8 different kinds, and when I didn't think they qere quite right, he went back and found 7 more. Imagine what he can do with a size 7 or 8. The service is wonderful and they are open to special orders. You can get everything from casual sandals to formal shoes. The shoes aren't cheap, but they are good quality and last. They're open late and on weekends so you can shop after work. I've been shopping here since 1994 and would recommend it to anyone who has hard to fit feet.
Pros: Galleria area, open late, great selection and service
Cons: Lots of traffic in Galleria

Fantastic Shoes!
by gonzo1835
Brucettes did a wonderful job in helping me with my wedding planning. I had 14 girls that had to be fit and Ken was able to find all of them the perfect shoe. All of the shoes were dyed in 2 days and looked perfect. I have been back to shop 2 times since and have always left with too many pairs of fabulous shoes and boots. Thanks for being by favorite shoe store!
Pros: Great selection and helpful staff
Cons: Galleria traffic

Best Shoes Anywhere
by princessnpink
I wear a very hard size to find (Size 11), and Brucettes had an awesome selection of really trendy and fashionable shoes in my size. Most shoe stores have nothing in my size and Brucettes had tons of great shoes. Very attentive staff that always works really hard to show me tons of options. Can't wait till they get in their boots in so I can buy some more.
Pros: Selection
Cons: crowded on Saturdays

I have been shopping here for years, this place is a dream. A consistently perfect fit keeps me coming back time and again. Mary is extremely helpful, and the atmosphere is beautiful.
Thanks Brucette for being Houston's #1 custom shoe place.
Pros: absolutely everything
Cons: none

Go, Bill!
by dkdj
Yes! Bill is the only person I want helping me when I shop at Brucettes! I've purchased my shoes from Bill for, gosh, 20 years I think! It's a great store - I tell him my size and he brings everything out!
I highly recommend the personal service given my the employees at this store!

Great!
by aep1216
I was searching for shoes for my wedding. Bill immediately helped me when I came in. I chose three to try on, and he brought those out. When I wasn't sure, he found more and ended up letting me try on about 10 pairs! He was patient and great. I am highly satisfied and ended up finding the perfect shoe, after going to many other shoe stores. Even though the store was crowded (it was a Saturday), I was promptly helped and the service was wonderful.
Pros: customer service, selection, location
Cons: crowded

Awful Service, Good Shoes, Won't shop here again.
by sad5781
ONE, salesperson acted as if getting me different shoe was not his job. Was like he was trying to pressure me into the first shoe I tried on so he didnt have to work.
TWO, returned to have shoes dyed and to look for her shoes for mom. Salesperson was RUDE. I came with two fabric samples (from dress shop) and he quickly snapped "THOSE ARE DIFFERENT COLORS!!!" like I was an idiot. Looked the same to me. Then, he didnt help my mom at all so we left.
THREE. Was supposed to approve the color sample before shoes were dyed. Was called that SHOES, not sample, were ready. Didnt bring claim ticket and salesperson literally ROLLED HIS EYES at me (thought I was approving the sample). Mentioned twice that I was supposed to approve the sample first but was ignored
Shoes & dying: great. Service: AWFUL. Wont go back.
Pros: selection, dying service
Cons: service, rude salespeople

Horrible Customer Service
by enolasco
The first impression when I entered the store was small store stocked with not very stylish shoes. There are a handful of stylish shoes, and the rest look like shoes my grandmother wears. The sales staff is the worst part of the store. All the sales people there are men in their mid 40's and very rude. One sales person was clearly not occupied and when he saw my mother and I nearing him, he looked uneasy and "subtly" walked in the opposite direction. The other sales person who did decide to assist us got angry when my mother didn't like the shoes he brought out for her. He began slapping the covers back on the boxes and slamming the boxes on top of one another (not exaggerating). I hope others have more pleasant experiences than this, but as for me and my mother, we will not be returning.
Pros: Some stylish shoes
Cons: Sales Staff, Small Space, Not much variety

Great shoe shop
by 525bball
I love this shop as they always have my size and I love their hat selections and the staff is great and very friendly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: good location, nice selection, very nice staff
Cons: to many nice shoes, good parking, good prices

So much hype - so little substance
by melank
I found the sales to be "high pressure" and the selection to be substandard. You can do better at any of the local department stores. The back room sale section is poorly organized and not all styles available are displayed making it difficult to find anything.
Cons: High pressure sales, Selection

AMAZING
by fatcheeks14
Literally, I felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. I didn't even have to ask for certain shoes and the salespeople brought out so many styles in my size that were great! It was so nice to sit down and not have to go searching all over for something. The personal attention, the knowledgable staff and selection were wonderful. I am definitely going to recommend this place! 10+
Pros: Staff, Service, Quality

Awful Salespeople and worst service!!!!!
by Sandra888
The sales clerk that greeted me was extremely rude when he immediately assumed that I was making a return. He was insulting and extremely impatient. I will never shop here again and have advised and warned many of the awful service here. They may have a nice selection but it's not worth the insulting and impatient service. Very bad experience.

When you wear are 7AAAAA, this is the only place to shop, now that Mr Phillip's is no longer with us.
They not only carry the "newest" styles but still carry classics as well.
Pros: selection, sizes, variety
Cons: expensive

I have been shopping at Brucette's for years and it is my favorite shoe store. If I go looking for one pair of shoes, I almost always leave with 2 or more pairs. The selection is great, you can find shoes there you will never see any place else. Very stylish.

After decades of my wearing shoes that were too long, Brucette's successfully fitted me in size 5-EE. My shoes no longer fall off my feet.
