My girlfriends and I were trying to enjoy ourselves at what I thought was a classy place After several drinks the three of us had to use the restroom. We did our what we had to do and returned to the club. A few minutes later a stranger approached us and made a comment that floored us.He said that he had been in the mans restroom and wanted to let us know that they could see everything that we were doing. I thought he was just trying to use some lame line He then discibed the color of our underwear that all of us were wearing. My mouth hit the floor He went on to say that all the guys can see everything the girls do yet the girls can't see them. Little did he know that I work for a law firm. Next week,Belvedere will most certainly find there selves in litigation. All girls be warned of the bathrooms

This place use to be the best would go in to just see the crowed and hot Steve can a place change so much in such a short timeout even feel safe inside I inquired as to the sudden change, a female claiming to be the G.M. ignored me and continued texting on her phone. I work at a local radio station and plan to spread the word as to how uncomfortable the place has become

I thought I would have a good time at this place. Once the door man hit me up for $20.I walked in to find 15 people standing around asked for a beer and Jack and coke. The bar tender , who acted like I was bothering him, charged me $22 I couldn't help to think he. Was pocketing the money. After ? him about the amount,he told me that I could leave if I were so cheap. Now I have no problem paying for drinks in a nice place.however,I don't act like your doing me a favor by over charging for drinks, and insulting me.Im telling everyone not to EVER think about spending one dime in this joke of a place. Fat bartenders, rude staff!

By far the best urban club in town. Met my hot wife there on Sunday night. Except for Thursday nights, you can find a great looking urban crowd the other nights posted up. Just stay off the new furniture.

The updated bar is awesome! I have to say that it's not only a great place to have a fun ladies night, it's also a cool date place. I love Houston, but love that this town continues to create places that make you feel like you are somehwere else... And Belvedere does that, and that is classic.

Belvedere is still here for a reason: quality service and quality product.

While other bars are falling like flies (ahem Washington Corridor), Belv continues to stay ahead of the curve.

I went in there for happy hour last Thursday and I have to say I was pretty impressed. I hadn't been inside of Belvedere for 4 or 5 years, but I used to go all the time when it first opened almost 7 years ago. The place looks amazing especially if you think about how long its been around.
They have some great made from scratch cocktails and they squeeze the fruit juice fresh at the bar. The hostess/waitress, Tee, met us at the entrance and took great care of us. I will definitely go back.

Is it just me or is Washington Av getting to be more trouble than its worth? My buddies and I decided to do something different on Friday night and we came to Belvedere in Uptown Park. The parking lots are well lighted with plenty of spaces which is a nice change.
The crowd was really nice and a lot classier than what I've seen lately on Washington. The bartender was friendly and it was just a great night out with no hassle and no drama.

The guys and girls at Belvedere hooked me up for my 29th Bday party. We took the private room in the back and it was off the chain! Didn't bang us too bad for bottle service and the staff gave us their "A" game all night! Met some cool peeps there and invited them to join us. Second birthday party for me @ Belve, can't wait for #3 next year!!!
This birthday boy even got lucky...

Cons: More of my friends didn't show

Disgusting is an understatement when it comes to describing Belvedere. Having been to Belvedere several times, their lack of respectful service was truly disappointing. I would never recommend this place to anyone. If you're looking for a place with a diverse atmosphere and great customer service, there are plenty of better options in uptown.

Here's a run down of what I encountered this last weekend:

Front Door: The owners are completely unethical and shady. There was a cover charge of $5 for guys, while others were charged $10, and most paid $20. I guess the girl at the door changed the cover charge depending on who she felt she could take advantage of. Here's some advice, Belvedere: If you're going to try and run a scam, at least be consistent. While overcharging patrons, the girl at the door also failed to mention that the club was hosting a private party. After realizing this, we requested a refund within 5 minutes of walking in the door. The owners claimed to have a "no refund policy", which was completely ridiculous considering they weren't even playing music in English!

Bar: Be aware of the big-eyed female bartender who thinks highly of herself. She is unbearably rude and deserves to be working behind a bar at a low class club. She needs to remember that she works on tips and being disrespectful will get you no where.

Security: They are just as shady as the owners. I guess the security is there to back up the owners when they know they are in the wrong. If you're looking to feel safe and protected, don't depend on the worthless hired security to do the job.

Save your money and go elsewhere for a fun night on the town. Don't waste your time here.

I have been to Belvedere many times and I have a great time everytime. From the music to the service to the decor, this place is great. Much better crowd than wannabe places. People come here to kick back, talk business, party, go crazy and just enjoy.

I have had bottle service here a few times and it has been excellent.

No dance floor, good music that i dont hear at other clubs. not sure wheather to give it a 3 or 4 but lean a little more towards four. the restroom was interesting with the ability to see through the wall into ladies restroom. Prices were ok. Well strong, the shots were like 7 or 8 a piece? but holy smokes they are big shots. well worth it. my friend threw up there sadly, and it took a couple months to finally find people to go with me there so might not be there again anytime soon. and with no dance floor and loud music, it can get a bit boring wanting to dance but no where to really to do it. or maybe i just didnt see it?

Friday night. No cover. Good location. Not a bad looking place. Ample parking. Drinks were good. I didn't buy mine, but I heard they were pricey. Didn't like the layout. Supposed to be a club, but had no dance floor, just one long hall that the crowd was crammed in. Tough to move around. Constant traffic jam. Lots of pretty Asian girls, but hardly any cute guys. They were mostly short dudes. No where to sit unless you've reserved a VIP lounge area. Music was good. Patio. Really small bathrooms. Trendy. No discernable dress code. Saw rapper and grill designer, Paul Wall. Cute cocktail girls.

What a joke... What a waste of $20... What a waste of time... I went to Belvedere's this past Sunday. It was supposed to be a nice night out with some friends. We thought we were going to be around the "Grown and $exy Brothas and Sistas". For starters, they do accept credit cards, but not for the cover charge... cash only at the door. We walk in and notice everybody standing around on the only floor in the whole place. We saw so many YOUNG confused women who were clearly pretending to be INDEPENDENT and probably still live with their parents and all their friends pile into each others bedrooms and bathrooms to "get ready". They had enough weave in the joint to open a wig store. I swear there should have had those banners like the beauty pageant girls with quotes like: "Looking for Mr. Right Now", "Need $$$", "Starving Student", "Buy me a drink", and "Baby Daddy Drama". Hold up fellas, stop laughing cuz y'all are next... Why did I see Malcolm X with his horn rimmed glasses wearing a tux shirt with a bow tie and dress shoes with GOLD laces!!!!! Please tell me that you were in a wedding party!!! I just don't recall seeing anyone else dressed remotely like you, bruh! He wasn't the only hot mess. How about the old skool fools that were perpetrating like they were 20-something and trying to happen up on some lil spring chicken. Get a grip and grow up. I saw someone else commented on the dance floor.. or lack thereof!!! They played all OLD music and about 30 second snippets of everything they did play. A drummer was pumping up the beat... whateva!!!!!!

Alright, I give it a 3 star rating because I have not been there. I heard it was good but after reading the last few ratings, you can tell this place is hated by women. Bunch of jealous hating women who need to relax and enjoy themselves once in a while. Stop hating. Get off your trip or stay home!

A group of guys were in Belvedere last night, and they zeroed in on my solo female friend, and said that they were all named either "Johnathan" or "Tony." When I finally showed up, I met these guys myself, and they were VERY insistant that I only order my drinks from a certain female Belvedere bartender. She was a petite girl with dark brownish hair that was permed, big, fluffy or moussed big time (Beware of BIG HAIR!). They also told my friend to ONLY ORDER drinks from this same female bartender. This was all rather odd to me...... . I'd drink maybe 1/3 of my wine, and suddenly, I'd get another brand new wine. I decided to stop drinking altogether. Something strange was "up," and I could "sense" it. Anyway, it was time to go, and after getting into her car and driving away ALONE that night, (I followed her home), my friend later became VIOLENTLY ILL, experienced chills, loss of all muscular control in her arms and legs, then threw up several times before having uncontrollable diarhhea. She was unable to TALK during this experience. She almost passed out, her heart was pounding, and she thought that she was going to die. When I was told about this, I said, "Baby, someone gave you a 'mickey' last night." What upsets me is that Belvedere, an establishment that has always been fun for me, somehow now allows sleazy guys into the club that spike girls' drinks with "mickeys" or muscle-relaxing Big Pharma prescriptions. I realize that there is NO WAY to qualify or identify guys like this at the front door, but still..... My girlfriend and I are legit: I am a professional journalist and telecommunications specialist, and my girlfriend is a teacher, and she rarely drinks. I was ashamed that I asked her to meet me at Belvedere. This is a sad story. I really liked Belvedere.

On New Years Eve my sister and I arrived at Belvedere's in Uptown Park at 12:15pm. It was about 1:30am on New Years Day. As I stood at the bar with my back turned to the crowd. I turned around and a black American woman , 6'3" or 6'4" accosted me. She began speaking to me and I think she was intoxicated. she pushed me. the assailant punched my sister in the left eye. Immediately she collasped to the ground, her nose was bleeding. the manager of the Belvedere's came and took my arm and told me to go outside I told him I needed my stuff and I needed to help my sister. I asked for the manager's number, she wrote it down and called him over, he waved as not interested and then came over about 4 minutes later after he was done walking around. He took us to the v.i.p room Two police officers on duty inside, what if we were stabbed then what? He got up and left unconcerned. The cops came in and took our statement, told us they let the assailant leave, before they found out what had happened inside, that that was their procedure. So that criminal is out there. I asked the waitress to let our friend in, she told me to call the cab, but never came back. I was charged for the final drinks that we never recieved. the Police officer escorted us to the car and I drove my sister to the er. the next day her eye was swollen but black and blue. She could not return to work or take her daughter to school. The manager never offered an apology or a number to contact us. He never came back to check on us or ask anything. My sister has to now incur hospital bills, loss of work and pain, while a criminal is out there.

I enjoyed going here for one thing, the phemomenal MOJITOS... The people are lets say an interesting mix of old cougars to 22 year olds, not a place to mingle... The patio makes the mood feel as if your in miami or stepped onto the nip/tuck set. The video live feed of the bathroom hallway gives sort of a "voyeur" feeling to the whole place. The VIP room is usually sleazy but needless to say if your uptown and want a great mojito this is the place to go!

I flew in from NY.I was told this was a great place to mingle. And to my dismay I find that this place is in a upscale area with low class women. The women where trying to pass them self off as classy but it was truly sad. The women fashion sense really went out the window in this club. The place was way too small and it wasn?t even a comfortable setting. And I?m from NY where the clubs are small but comfortable. The music was bad; it was more of a top 40 dj.And the drinks weren?t even made properly. As a journalist from NY, I will make sure people will stay away from this hole in the wall pub.

Pros: Women with low self estem

Cons: Drinks not strong enough to handle women with low self estem

.

This club for a bunch of American low class strippers and wanna be classy girls to meet stupid un-suspecting nigerian men who are clueless as to who are classy women and who are trashy women. They flock in with their walmart outfits on half dressed to pick up suckers like nigerian men, and try to pass themselves off as women of class, when they are nothing but strippers and women of leisure. So if you're looking for a strip club without a pole, Belvedere is the spot. This club is in an up- scale area with a bunch of low classed women looking to add to their cliental.

Well just my luck on my birthday my husband decided to take me to "Belvedere"...the scenery was nice, the music was bad and too loud for the happy hour crowd. The DJ needed a differnt variety of music! I ordered 4 drinks and spent 40+dollars and that=too much money. I basically felt as if I was paying there rent on the space! We were there a total of 1 hour and our vehicle was STOLEN out of the parking lot! They dont have any cameras and only one "Top Flight" Security Guard in a yellow shirt on a BIKE! not even a golf cart! You would think with all the money that the Uptown Park shopping center makes they could afford to have more security! So to say the least the Management for the Center was of no help due to no cameras! I will never never go there again unless there is a licensed officer HPD or Harris County Sherriff Dept. is anywhere on the premisis.

Pros: Atmosphere is nice but that's about it!

Cons: High Crime rate in Auto Theft in parking lot.

My boyfriend and I came here on a Wednesday night, and I was vey unsure of what to expect, being the reviews on this website were mixed. We had no problem getting in. We were dressed nicely (I wore white shorts and a fancy top, and he wore slacks and a button down top). We seemed to blend right in. I'm not sure what the race comments were all about in another review, but there were people from all cultures here! The music was awesome. They played all Top 40's R&B and Hip-Hop. The crowd was about 25-45, so very mixed. Drinks were good, and it was packed by the end of the night. The bartenders were really nice and we had a great time!

I think it's really funny that some people (probably the owner or his cronies) are coming on here to discount all the negative comments by saying "houston isn't ready for classy places". You're missing the point. This ISN"T a classy joint. Pretentious does not equal classy. You don't become classy by putting a TV in the bathroom. You don't become classy by having an A-hole high school dropout bouncer at the door who just lets in call girls from the men's club and their "clients" or any girl that looks like a stripper or dealers with nice cars who tip you. You don't become classy by having overpriced drinks and fake people. This place impresses nobody except for classless trashy women who are trying to find rich guys and trashy guys in used car salesmen suits who are trying to score with easy women who are after money.

Cons: Call girls! get your call girls!

For all of you who have no class and are stuck in your everyday rut this place is not for you. First of all you people who are complaining about the dance room it's not a club it's a bar! Sit or stand and enjoy the music!! Secondly, I see why there are no good places to go in Houston because when they open a decent establishment people criticize by saying it's too swank. For those of you who feel this way continue going to your 21 and up college clubs and leave this place to the real ladies and gentlemen. I am an african american woman who has never had a problem getting into this bar and have been had on various outfits jeans to skirts. I applaud them for having a dress code and trying to keep it upscale. Look at the hang outs that tend to be more lax about dress code and how long do they stay open. I'm tired of finding a nice spot where black professionals can go and as time goes on it turns into a not so great place and eventually closes. I hope this place lasts and I think it will as long as they keep doing what they do.

Long story short, this is where Call Girls go w/ "dates" and River Oaks Grandaughters go to shoot daggers at the unworthy. And don't be so bold as to point out any lack of sophistication the owners are shooting for to the staff or bartender (male) as they will threaten to weaken your drinks (!) or not serve you all together (!!). How much do you pay TABC for that card and where do I sign up? Please clean up your backwards act.

Pros: Hot Drunk Rich women & Call Girls

Cons: Stop asking me for bumps. You just want an excuse to talk to me in public.

Never again will I subject myself or my friends to this ridiculous doorman club. Arrived wearing fashionable attire and was told that they don't normally allow collarless shirts or jeans but said I was ok. Looked me up and down again and said "oh, we have a twenty dollar cover." I said forget it, knowing drink prices. The whole thing was just suspect. However, as I was leaving, I observed folks leaving who looked like they has just left Dave and Busters, then asked them and several people who where leaving if they paid such a cover and not ONE said yes (most just looked baffled). If this club doesn't want a particular type to enter their club they should explicitly post this so folks wont waste their time to be humiliated upon entry. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Nice high end bar - but that hot mess of a doorman has got to go.

We went to Belvedere in a group of 7. The doorman didn't like the brown Polo boots one person in our group was wearing. After I saw him let in others with boots and other casual shoes (mind you, it's a cool October night and on top of that it was Halloween weekend and some people were in costume!) , I calmly told him what I had observed. His response, "I don't have to let you in either." That decision was fine by me. I think the whole incident was racially motivated and I don't party at places where the doorman judges based on skin color. We took our party elsewhere and had a wonderful time.

People and the employees strut around with this stupid elitest attitude, which is totally unwarranted given the fact that most of them could not afford my electric bill.

I would never waste my time in such a fake club again. Young people are stupid before they get smart.

If you're looking for a college bar, Belvedere is not your place. But if you're looking for classy dressed and beautiful ladies with enough competiton that they're not stuck on themselves, Belvedere IS your place. As for the men, they're generally mature enough to know that they're not the only thing in town and don't try to pretend to be. Overall, the place is fun and upbeat, albeit crowded (which makes for fun times too, if you keep your sense of humor and play on it). I highly recommend Belvedere for the out of town crowd. Oh, and the bartenders (Jenn from Boston and David in particular), know how to treat their customers. Keep up the fantastic work!

At first glance, I'd expect much more from the suave atmosphere and trendy decor. The numerous tvs are entertaining for a moment, if conversation is not what you are after. The music was upbeat but too loud for conversation. The staff is was killed it for me though. They were slow (and the place was empty), pretentious, impolite, and incompetent. When I finally did get service, the drinks were weak and overpriced, and it took way too long to close my tab. If your only skill is to stand around and look good, then this may be the place for you, but to everyone else, I recommmend choosing another destination. Overall, I was NOT IMPRESSED!

If you want a place to impress off duty strippers with your wad of money then go for it. Otherwise this is the most pretentious club in town. You'd almost think you were in a snobby NY or LA party except this place is right next to a freaking highway with construction dust covering half your 93 bmw that you borrowed from your dad. Save your money. There are alot better places with alot nicer girls out there who aren't there to meet "rich guys" that they can con out of money.

Reading the other reviews, I am a bit disappointed with my fellow houstonions. Just because you feel out of place in an upscale environement doesn't mean you have to criticize the creme of the party world. Finally, an upscale urban style lounge in Houston and I hope more people appreciate what has been brought to our nightlife by this hotspot. The dress code is strictly enforced, but you'll see why when you see the tastefully extravagent interior. Although the staff may have more beauty than brains, for the best service, get a group of friends and get a bottle and a table or find a cozy corner with a date. My advice: get dressed up, hold your head high, and mingle...Oh, and don't do anything you don't want the crowd to see...there are cameras and plasmas everywhere. Your flirting will be seen by all!

Where do I start?? Bad service! Waitress was rude as well as the rest of the staff. The people who actually got in were so stuck up, you'd of thought they had something up their butts. There isn't a place to dance so your stuck sitting/standing the night away. I guess this is what happens when you make so much money in a year that you don't have any real taste! The "people" who say this place is the greatest must work for the club. I don't think anyone would actually have a fun time in this place at all!

If self-consciously trendy is your thing, you'll have a ball with the top-drawer Barbie doll party girls. Otherwise, you may be amused or possibly gag at the sight of people trying, with plasticine smiles and grim Puritan fortitude, to exude a sense that "We're having more fun than anyone could possibly ever have - ever!"

The seating arrangement seems to call for conversation, but you can't hear anything over the music, which is your standard trash-pop house/disco. So you think, "Let's dance instead," but the awkward space makes that difficult, if not impossible, due to the cramped, elongated layout, which is not improved by the wall-to-wall desperation to see and be seen.

The VIP room that you can rent is the one saving grace of this otherwise direly pretentious mannequin factory. Notably, the one time I could enjoy the place was when we were separated from the rest of it.

I have finally found a place to have drinks and conversation without someone trying to pick me up!!! Monday nights are rather slow, but the music was fantastic...if you know who the rat packers are you will love it here. Prices were a little high, but well worth it. They have and enforce a dress code, but was not a problem for myself or my group. You have to expect to get dressed to go to a nice place. This is not a college bar by any means. Will be frequenting this place every chance I get!
