They were hired to set up my email account on my laptop. They did not provide the correct settings. I called and left word to have them call me back to make corrections in their settings. For three straight days in a row I called and left word for MIchael to call me. He never called me back. I went to a competitor after three days of down time and they corrected the errors Austin PC Tech had created. I had to pay another charge. When I did reach him (I called and caught him in the office) he refused to give me my money back and he was extremely rude and did not care at all about customer service and making it "right".
I strongly encourage anyone considering using these jokers to go to some professionals who actually know what they are doing.
They are horrible.

I've taken our computers to AustinPCTech for over five years now and have never been disappointed. They're fast, dependable and above all, honest. I've had them do everything from fix a hard drive crash (where they recovered all of the data) to setting up a router for a network. They can do anything and everything and you can completely trust what they do. And, they do it all at a fair price.

After finally getting the internet in my new apartment, I soon realized that my internet was EXTREMELY slower than it should have been. I could never get through a Pogo game without it freezing and having to close it and reopen the game. Thinking I was infected, I took my computer to APCT to get it fixed. To my surprise, the tech informed me that I wasn't infected at all- that a big chunk of dust had interfered with one of my memory slots, causing it not to read the memory. Also, I learned that I didn't have sufficient memory for the programs I was trying to run. The tech blew out the dust, upgraded my memory, did some additional things to improve performance (all for a very reasonable price) and now my internet is faster than ever! They alwasy kept me updated while they had my computer, were very professional and finished repairs in a timely manner. Thanks Austin PC Tech!

The other day my daughter's computer got infected with a virus and her computer became useless with all of the pop-ups and crashes. I had previously taken my computers for repair to a competitor but became frustrated over time with the lack attention to detail on seemingly simple things. I tried Austin PC Tech because of a friend's recommendation and the experience was completely different. They did exactly what we asked and more. The service was professional and very quick and they don't charge near what my last shop did. I recommend Austin PC Tech to you and all my friends.

I am an experienced and highly literate computer user who works fulltime online. Through my own negligence I acquired a very nasty virus that crashed my operating system. For the first time in over twenty years of computing I was forced to seek outside help. Since I work online and my livelihood was at stake, I was in something of a panic and desperate for quick help. That was my undoing. On a Monday night I sent out a half-dozen SOS emails to businesses I found who claimed to work on laptops and malware infestations. I had another well-known local company in mind but this one was the first to respond next morning and in my haste to get it fixed I took it there. Big mistake.

Long story short, they removed the virus all right, but they could not repair my operating system. They told me they would have to recover my data and reinstall the operating system. It turned out that their idea of data recovery was to simply copy files, and not ghost my drive so as to save everything including my programs. Ultimately they just saved some files and reformatted my hard drive. I could have done that myself. I brought it to a so-called expert so that I would not have to. What??s worse is they wiped my drive without verifying with me that they had ??recovered? all my necessary data.

They lost my entire address book with hundreds of contacts, lost all my email message rules, deleted a browser I??d specifically asked them to save that had years worth of bookmarks and passwords, and lost three-fourths of my programs, many of which I had paid for. They gave me back a bare machine with only files, no settings, and only basic Windows programs plus my Office suite.

During the two-and-a-half days it took them to ruin my computer, they did not return phone calls, necessitating that I had to keep calling them to find out the status, did not keep me updated on what they were doing, and when I complained the employee had the owner call me, who insulted me, attacked me personally and threatened to not ??fix? my computer unless I stopped complaining. However, after finally listening, then hanging up and talking to his employee again, he then called back and apologized, and cut my bill in half.

But that wasn??t the end. To top it all off, after I picked up my computer and returned home Thursday night, I discovered that while there was a power cord and AC adapter in my bag as I had verified, it was not mine as I saw when I pulled it out. I called back, got their message machine and left a message. The next day when I talked to them the employee insisted that they had given me my own cord/adapter and told me I did not know my own equipment. After I told the employee that I was going to file a complaint, the owner then called me back and proceeded to insult me again and argue with me that the cord/adapter they gave me was mine. Mind you, the cord/adapter had unknown stickers on them that I had never seen before. I asked him if it was his practice to put stickers on people??s equipment and he said no, and insisted again that they had given me the right cord/adapter. In absolute frustration, I finally hung up on him.

It is going to take me months to reconstruct what I had, and cost me much more than the other half of their bill to replace everything they destroyed. In the more than 21 years I have lived in Austin, this is the worst service I have ever received from anyone for anything. I truly hope others will be warned by my experience and not have to go through what I did.

Business Response:

Some people just refuse This customer goes on record as being our most difficult customer to date. We bent over backwards to please her despite her continuously hanging up on our phone calls to resolve her many complaints. We made one mistake and gladly compensated her for it. She at that point said she was satisfied. Afterwards though, she then accused us of stealing her AC adapter and saying we returned the wrong one to her. When computers come into our shop we log in all serial and model numbers off all equipment dropped off. We returned the right adapter, and she was simply looking for problems where there were none. Despite her mistake here, we called to offer her a brand new adapter. Sadly she preferred more screaming and just hung up the phone. Again we attempted to contact her but she refused to answer any further calls. It's impossible to please someone who just screams and hangs up the phone. Some people are just impossible and Chris was impossible for any computer repair company to please, believe me, we tried.

Took in my Dell Inspiron 1525 on a monday and got it back the following Thursday and I swear the thing run s faster than the day I had it shipped to me from the Dell Factory. Mike and Robert were very friendly and helpful. My hard drive crashed and it only cost me a hundred bucks to get it fixed. Thankfully the part was covered by my warranty. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone needing help with their PC.

My wife and I were referred to Austin PC Tech by a friend and after having taken our broken computer to them, we have been nothing short of amazed. First we took it to one of their competitors who quickly told us that the computer was not able to be fixed without replacing the motherboard and quoted us a price of over $400 to do so. They also said it would take roughly 10 days to get it back. We decided to get a second opinion from Austin PC Tech who indicated they could repair our problem for only $145 which they did and we got it back the very same day. What a difference between repair companies. We recommend Austin PC Tech to anyone in need of computer repair and we will continue to use their services for years to come. Thanks Austin PC Tech for a job well done.

i took my problematic laptop to discount electronics today. they confirmed that my hard drive was bad, and offered a possible recovery solution for $19. after determining that the drive was too corrupted to get the data back, they charged me...NOTHING! and AustinPCTech states clearly on their website that they would charge me $99 for this info. how insane.

Business Response:

Unfair and innacurate comment Data recovery charges vary a great deal depending on what the issue is. Typically as must have been the case here, we can confirm in just minutes whether the hard drive is being properly detected and performing sufficiently to recover files. Our charge to determine this can very anwhere from FREE to a max of $49.95. If we have determined that data can be recovered, the charge will typically vary from $49.95 to $200.00, and when the problems are severe enough there is a minimum charge of $99.00. In no case do we spend just a few minutes and then charge a customer $99. If this person had contacted us directly, we would have informed her all of the possible scenarios and all their possible charges. This is an unfair comment from someone we have never spoken to and is purely based on being uninformed. We are an honest company and are know for charging our customers fairly, not as has been suggested here.

Had to replace the dc jack on my dell. Great that my computer crapped on me days before my video project was due. Called Mr. Notebook and they said they would have to have to have my computer for 9-10 days!!! Stumbled across these guys on the internet and glad I did- they finished the job by the next morning and even took some time to make my computer faster! Now theres not a near as bad as lag whenever im working on my video compilations. Dont know that they did but they definitely work the magic on my computer Mike even took the time to give me a few pointers on how to prevent the jack from getting messed up again. These guys rock! Definitely coming back if i run into problems again.

I made the mistake of not booting the computer up in front of someone so I could prove that my OS was fine.
My hard drive was no good when i got it back then they said "how do we not know it was like that when you brought it in" Maybe because I would not have paid money to fix a Dc jack on a computer that had a bad hard drive!!!!

my laptop power outlet recently decided to give me the finger . i called the owner and asked for pricing, etc. i made it very clear that i would go to someone else if he couldnt finish it that day ( i was doing a research study in the morning and neeeeded that laptop).he told me it would be ready if i brought it in that morning. i raced up north from south austin to drop off my computer. i dropped it off at another business that he has a mailbox at since his specific store does not have a storefront. by the time it had been dropped off i decided to stay up north and wait since this was a very important trip not to mention it was a waste of time to drive down south. after lunch, i called to check on the progress (130 pm) and get an estimated pick up time. he said my laptop would be looked at this afternoon ( wasn't it the afternoon already?) and should be ready between 4-5. i waited until 5 and called to make sure it was ready and he didn't answer! i showed up to the business i dropped my laptop at and asked what the deal was. apparently the owner had not even picked up the laptop! he wasted my whole day and didnt even look at my computer! bad performance.
