The Maverick Apartments is actually a really great place to live. Whoever wrote the very negative review about the apartments was obviously just ticked off about something, probably the fact that they got evicted or did not get the chance to live in such a beautiful building. I myself love the big city, downtown style of living, and that is exactly what the maverick building has to offer, being in the perfect spot right in the left ventricle of heart of downtown San Antonio. Of course the building is not as quiet as suburban parts of San Antonio because it is downtown. But if you enjoy "sounds of the city", that is exactly what you will hear. All of the residents are really kind, easy going, and respectful. Best of all, everybody looks out for one another and the management is always up to date with whats going on. If you have a vehicle, parking for residents is only 50 dollars extra a month to park in a very safe parking garage right above a bicycle police station. The building has an abundance of corner apartments with spectacular views. Depending on which side of the building you reside on; you and friends can catch a view of the famous San Antonio riverwalk, the Alamo, the Tower of the Americas, and many other beautiful sites San Antonio has to offer. Since it is downtown, of course you have to learn how to deal with homeless people asking for change, and sometimes sleeping outside of the building, but in my eyes that is something that everyone in their life should see in order to gain perspective of how it is for some human beings out there; ultimately making yourself appreciate what you have in life and learning not to take the small things for granted. I would recommend the Maverick Apartments to anyone who is tired of living the boring suburban lifestyle, and seeks an adventure that will never be forgotten through the rest of life. I love living here because everyday there is something new to do, or try, and someone new to meet. On top of all this, the riverwalk is literally one block away, making it difficult to become bored. How can you be bored when you are less then a minute walk away from one of Americas most visited tourists attractions? - Tony

Pros: NEW YORK Style Downtown Living

Cons: Waiting LISt

.

This is one place you NEVER want to live. Although many of the units have been refurbished, the quality of living here is on the low end. This complex is for low income & it shows. The cops are called here nightly. You will get used to sirens & cops roaming the complex at 3 am to make a bust & you will probably get used to the loud arguments of domestic disturbance & assault. The Lynd Corporation manages the complex & does a very poor job of it. You are on your own if you need any maintenance & the management is usally not in attendance in the leasing office. The building is full of bugs-not just in the apartment units themselves, but in the elevators, stairways, hallways, lobby & community room. The building often has a dirty unkept look to it & often reeks of foul odors due to the lack of sanitation. Graffiti occurs on a nightly basis and breakins are most common in the building. The management has a difficult time in allowing residents to live peacefully in their unit, as management conducts what they call, "random inspections". Rent goes up without any notice or warning. Emergency maintenace will not respond until the next business week day-if they respond at all. The owner doesnt communicate with the Lynd management, & Lynd often lies to the police about their tennants. Also, beware that if you do rent here, there is a possibility that the Lynd Managment Corporation will state that you never signed a lease & are in breech of contract-so you will have to keep extra copies of the lease.

Overall, this is a very UNSAFE residence, noisy, & difficult to live in. The building has been on fire before (see channel 29 KABB website to view actual damage), & that area on fire has not been fully restored-yet the LYND corporation is still requiring residents to pay up their rent-even though parts of their units are completly burned & damaged.

Pros: when your lease is up you finally get to leave

Cons: paying for parking, no on staff maintenance
