Tonight is the last time I will ever eat at or go to Vieng Thai.
I have just had the most deplorable experience at this restaurant.
It is a neighborhood dive, which my neighbor and I have frequented on many occasions. Though I?ve gotten

I am always looking for a great restaurant, and to me, a restaurant is great if it has great food. Vieng Thai is a hole in the wall and the atmosphere is nothing to rave about, but the food is another story. Almost all the Thai people I know refer me here when I ask them where to go. The menu has some Thai dishes I've never tried but all the items I've sampled, like the stink beans (written up in the newspaper) and a mild curry sauce with ground pork, and spicy fried fish fillet are perfectly executed and wonderfully Thai. The litmus test for me are the noodle dishes. How is their pad thai and pad see ew? Just like when I got it on the street in Bangkok. The portions are not overly large, but the food here is wonderful. Beware the spicy barometer for Thai food is very very high. If you can't really eat spicy (like me) make sure you get mild or not spicy, or you will have a burning mouthful of food so spicy you can't taste it.

Cons: place is small and dumpy

Great Thai food ... Small place in Spring Branch. Its BYOB and no corking fee. The food is great and yes it is spicy! I had a chicken Pad Grapraow plate that was very good although I could not eat it all. Service is good and staff is friendly.

My absolute favorite Thai restaurant. It's a hole in the wall , but the food is authentic and wonderful. If you don't like spicy, this restaurant may not be for you. The restaurant sometimes has an inconsistent spicy-ness. Sometimes, it's good spicy and other times it's my butt is on fire spicy. We joke around about how the cook angry the cook must be when the food gets extremely spicy. My favorite dishes include the Boat Noodle, Kee Mao Noodle, Nam Tok, and Beef Geng Dang Curry.

Cute little place in old spring branch.
Tom Ka soup is really good, but must warn of the whole red thai peppers floating within, if you get one of these in your mouth, good luck to you. Hope you have a 44 oz drink nearby!
I wish they would use fresh mushrooms instead of canned straw mushrooms, but the flavor will keep you coming back.

the pad thai is excellent.
