OMG, they had amazing food.. everything was so flavorful. The only bad thing about this place was the service. Our waiter had a major attitude issue.. But other than that, y'all should really try this place. I will definitely be going back there again..

I went here with someone not long ago. We ate in the main dining room. The atmosphere was nice. We were seated quickly even though the place was packed. While we were waiting for a table, several employees came by to see if we needed anything. The manager appeared to be very professional and attentive. He also came by to see if we needed anything. Our waiter took very good care of us. After dinner, we had coffee and dessert on the pleasant covered patio that had very comfortable seating. We had the dessert sampler, which was very good. Our coffee was refilled quickly. We didn't even have to ask. Someone came out to check on us several times. I should also note, however, that the staff is not overwhelming. They provide excellent service WITHOUT being pushy or annoying. Very professional! Also, there was plenty of parking and we did not choose valet that night. While it is nice to have that option, customers are not forced to valet when dining here. It was a very nice evening....

Honestly,
Me

An amazing italian resturaunt! The chicken parmagane and the pasta came hot and the service was fast and the staff was friendly. It was alittle expensive, but most italian places are. I would recommend coming here if your on this side of town.

Since Arcodora's is my sister and my favorite Houston restaurant, we decided to splurge on Easter Brunch. The Sardinian soup was tasteless. The so called mint broth tasted like water, so I exchanged it for the potato leek, which was also very bland. We're both lamb lovers, so we were stunned by how bad the lamb was, tough, tasteless, and over cooked. My sister had finished hers before a server asked if we'd like some lamb sauce. It helped, but didn't save the dish from being the worst lamb I can recall eating.
The waiter disappeared before inquiring if we needed anything, so we had to wait for pepper.
It will be awhile before we return. I just wish we'd returned the lamb.

Pros: Beautiful flower arrangements

Cons: Service and food

.

The food was mediocre, the service was sloppy and the prices were excessive for what we got. Maybe that is the reason why they are slow now?

we have been going to Arcodoro for years....we have always enjoyed the food and had great servers about 95% of the time. we have always thought the restaurant was kid friendly for brunch as well. we have a child with food allergies and we specifically asked her brunch to be cooked a certain way...the food had one of her allergens in it and when we asked about it, we heard the manager tell our server...just tell them we cooked it the way they asked. he was snarky and rude and we could hear him too! he never came by the table nor spoke to us, instead our server apologized to us and was incredibly nice. we were enjoying our company immensely and probably overstayed our welcome at the table, so instead we got glares from the floor manager. depsite the good food, we won't be returning...ever.

I went to Arcodoro looking for a nice italian restaurant to a Saturday dinner. The valet service was reasonable for the region. When I ordered the food, I figured out an expensive place that serves frozen foods. I ordered a lasagna and my wife a gnochi. Our order took more than 20 minutes to arrive. The lasagna and the gnochi were heavy and the taste was similar to frozen foods found in the supermarket. it was uneatable.I don't recommend at all.

Last week my husband and I went out to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. My Husband had made a reservation at a certain famous steakhouse in the Galleria area. We got there on time but the host had us wait for 35 minutes! since it was a busy night we didnt mind but I kind of noticed people are getting tables without reservation as soon as they walk in. So I told my husband I have lost my appetite and would like to go home. We left the steakhouse and were going to our car and noticed this beautiful patio with cozy little furniture and decided to try our luck to get a table if not maybe have a glass of champagne before we go home. We approached the hostess and told her we dont have reservations but would like to eat if it is possible. She said they are very busy but would try her best to get us a table as soon as possible then she asked for our name and walked us to the patio and told the server to get our drink oders while she is trying to get us a table. Few minutes later the manager came to our table and asked us how we were doing and told us that he is working on getting us a romantic table which I thought was very cute. In about 15 minutes the hostess came back and told us that our table is ready, but we were having so much fun that decided to stay in the patio for another drink and she told us that it is ok and she would hold the table for us. To make the long story short we sat down at our table and my husband asked the server if they served steak and he said perhaps one of the best filet mignon's in town and he was not lying! I was surprised such an authentic Italian restaurant serving such a great steak. When I told our server that we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary he was more excited than us!! Within few minutes the manager comes to our table with our server and a cake and a small candle which I thought it was adorable and sweet.
Overall what started as a awful wedding anniversary, turned out to be one of our best nights out, ever. Thank you Arcodoro for all your hard work. You have earned a customer for life.

Pros: Excellent service

This past Saturday was our first time here and we were more than pleased with both the food and the service. My husband and I are very particular when it comes to service and the staff did not disappoint! We were celebrating my husband's birthday and had our nephew and his girlfriend with us. My nephew's girlfriend is young and does not go out much and was nervous about ordering off of the menu. Our waiter made her feel at ease and helped her with the menu. This may seem like a small detail, but anytime a staff member makes a customer comfortable and happy, it is important to note. The staff was gracious, the food was outstanding, the portion sizes were just right, the wine and Preseco were good. This is our new favorite place to dine!

After reading an article in this months Cooking Light I was intrgued to go to Arcodoro and taste some authentic Italian food. The setting was outstanding, my Wife and I were celebrating our 5 year anniversary and could not have picked a more romantic place. Our Jourey continued with an excellent wine selection ( wines that I have not seen any where else). We took the waiters suggestion and sampled many of the special Sardian menu offerings and it was a big pay off. The Gnocchi Sardo was melt in your mouth fantastic as well as Susan's main course of Lamb cooked to perfection. In the hustle and bustle of city life this is a place to relax and enjoy. The article highlights the owners family and living a long healthy life. My wife and I both agreed we felt a sence of family in our expierence. Not only was our 5 year anniversary a memorable night; we plan to return with family for some pizza's (they looked great). We also plan on ordering some product on-line. Thanks for the Night!!!

Although we arrived promptly at our reserved time, we were told to wait while others with no reservations were promptly seated (very aggrevating!) My wife had the lamb which was overcooked and tough (perfect if we needed our shoes repaired!). I had the rib eye which was fair, at best. The service was anything but attentive. We actually felt that we were a bother to the waiter who had more important things to do (still attempting to figure out what that was). And to top it off, after we ordered our dessert and were told it was on the way, they finalized realized they were out of the item (how can a restaurant run out of strawberries and whipped cream?). Ohhh, the coffee was horrible. So, we traveled all the way across the country to have a terrible dinner!

the pizza is ok but most of the other food is average but expensive. if you can deal with the worse service in the city and equally bad excuses, than this is your place.... they like to seat you at the bar for a drink before your table is ready, meanwhile there are plenty of empty tables, they are just trying to boost their bar sales..... good luck finding the manager too!!! once you find him "good luck", but you must find him first. if they are busy it may take for ever to get your bottle of wine because the manager is the only person that can go to the wine cellar to get your wine......make sure you order and get your wine before you order your food otherwise you will be eating before your wine even is brought to the table... shame shame

If you enjoy being FELT UP by the wait staff with you pasta....this is exactly the kind of place where you can get both!!! I I have NEVER experienced such disgusting, inappropriate, lewd service. A waiter ran his hand all the way down my back when leaving the restroom! I asked to speak to the manager. They sent over another waiter who claimed to be ALMOST the manager! Are you kidding me!!!After asking 4 times, I finally got the manager. I never felt so disgusting. THIS IS A F*CKING RESTAURANT...not hooters! I left the restaurant in tears. They should change the dress code from dressy to full coverage if you don't want an ass grab with your bread and oil!

Before I slam this restaurant, let me emphasize the highlights: the atmosphere is great. The setting and the decor are great. Also the waitstaff and the sommolier were attentive, professional and helpful. Finally, the wine we had was outstanding. But the food was a disappointment. This was my first visit. I had been to the sister restaurant, Pomodoro, in Dallas on may occasions in the distant past and loved it. The reviews for Arcodoro were mixed but it was close to the Galleria area hotel where my clients were staying and it looked like it would be impressive. It wasn't. The 01/05/08 reviewer said the prices were inflated and the portions were small, but I wasn't worried since I don't eat that much and I expected high prices for great food. Unfortunately, the portions were too small by expectations. On most "high end" restaurant visits, I eat the appetizer, and about 2/3 of the entre before getting too full to continue. I'm then way too full for dessert. At Arcodoro, I ate the bread, the entire appetizer (carpacio), the entire entre (linguini with clams) and the entire dessert (cheese plate) yet still left hungry. The food itself was lackluster as well. While I liked the combination of the field greens with the carpacio, I was unimpressed by the linguini because the spicing was way too understated. The biggest disappointment was the tray of cheeses offered for dessert. The selection was more akin to what I would expect for the Ploughman's lunch at the Black Labrodor. Houston has too many top of the line restaurants to warrant a return visit here.

If you are a regular at Olive Garden and consider that Italian, stay away from Arcodoro. This is real Italian food with great service and ambience. I have never been let down. Their grapparitas are a nice indulgence but a little pricery. Again, if you think Olive Garden is Italian, then Arcordoro is not the place for you.

In summary: Great ambience and very elegant setting. Service was ?average? with the feeling of casual family dining, completely opposite of what you?d expect. The waiter never returned to pour our wine, most service came from the busboy. Food is good, but does not meet the expectations? of all other characteristics of the restaurant. Portions were VERY small for the prices charged. Food quality was comparable to a restaurant with prices 30-35% less, but the difference is too much to pay for the ambience. The entire experience is nothing you can?t wait to tell someone about. Never received the feeling you should at this price point. I will not return based on the many dining options in the area. Sorry Arcodoro, second and final visit. Good luck.

Been hearing about Arcodoro for years so my wife and I gave it a shot. We were seated right on time and the service was impeccable. There was a really nice wine selection and the waiter was eager to help us with choosing one. He also was very helpful in the appetizer and main course suggestions. We had a few different items and shared them and found everything to be delicious. No room for dessert but there's always next time as we'll definitely be back.

My wife and I patronized this establishment for dinner tonight. Our tab was $125, $80 of which was food, the rest alcohol and tax. We paid with a $50 gift card that restricted its use to food only (to be used obviously for the first $50 of food) and a $100 gift card with no restrictions (same as cash). Any remainder from the $100 gift card would go to the waiter as a tip, about 20%. The $50 gift card was purchased in 2007, but had no expiration date. The manager, whom the waiter described as "new," told us that the $50 gift card had expired, although there was no expiration date. Eventually, it was accepted, but we were told they could not give us change and the remainder could not be given to the waiter as a tip. Essentially, as I see it they were keeping $25 rightfully ours as they had a problem honoring a gift card purchased last year.

The manager was unprofessional and rude, and had no explanation for his decision. I am upset that he refused to honor their own gift card, but more upset that he would not give the $25 remaining to the waiter, instead stiffing him out of his tip.

I would not ever return to this establishment because of the treatment we received. As to the food, it was OK, although my wife's steak was overcooked.

Most recently our family had a special evening where we all gathered to share a meal and catch up with each other. The group was large and included several children, so we gathered in the private room. The attention to everyones needs was outstanding - from the special requests of the adults and the children, to the service given to ensure everyone had a fun evening. Thank you to the entire staff for making our evening so special - we all appreciate your efforts and the wonderful food and look forward to our next trip!

I want to thank Arcodoro for the most wonderful dinner party my family had a few weeks ago in the Sardinian Room. The food was fabulous, but more importantly, the attention the staff (and in particular Joe) gave to the party to ensure we had a great evening was outstanding. Joe took such a personal interest in making sure everything was taken care of beyond any expectation, and my family noticed every detail. My family is still talking about what a nice evening it was and when we will do it again!

We have visited the restaurant on other occassions and received the same excellent and personalized service. I am a vegetarian, and the chef always makes sure I have a wonderful meal -- in fact, one of the BEST meals I have ever had in my life was a spur of the moment dinner in which the chef came to talk to me about what I wanted and then created the most wonderful meal! Thank you so much for the great memories at the restaurant!

A group of us came here for Restaurant Week after some glowing reviews from a few sources only to be highly disappointed. The service here was terrible and extremely unprofessional. One member of our group could understand Spanish and hadto sit there listening to the Spanish-speaking staff curse at us or to one another in Spanish. The head waiter for our table actually cursed at another waiter and admonished him for bringing us "too much bread"! Another actually glared at us for asking for "regular water" instead of the branded water.

Onto the food: I enjoyed my appetizer - the Panadeddas di Cinghiale al Piccante (fried ravioli) a lot but was very under-impressed by the Arrosto di Vitello ai Funghi (veal), which was not at all tender like I'd hoped. I tried my fiance's appetizer - the Fregula Belvedere, and his entree, the Ravioli al Granchio e Crema di Bottarga (strong "fishy" taste - not to mention the dish consisted of only 4 pieces of ravioli), and didn't like either one at all. The one redeeming factor for the whole night was the dessert. Both the parfait and the tiramisu were fabulous. Still, this was not enough to make me want to come back again

One thing I really love about Restaurant week is that not only is it for a good cause, but it gives people a chance to try out upper-class restaurants at a reasonable price so participants can decide whether to come back again and pay full price because they truly enjoyed the restaurant experience. I definitely will NOT be returning to Arcodoro, not even for the dessert.

Pros: dessert, good parking
Cons: most food, SERVICE, SERVICE, SERVICE.

The service at this place was awful. We had to ask to get a menu, we had to call our waiter to order our drinks, we had to ask our waiter to bring bread, then once they brought the food we had to ask them to bring pepper and parmesan cheese (we were all eating pasta and we shouldn't have to ask them to do this when paying 25-30$ a plate), we then had to ask to get the check which took a good 20 mins..not once did the waiter ask us how we were doing. On top of that, I felt the food was really overrated...I will never come back and I do not recommend this place to anyone. There are so many better Italian restaurants out there!

The food was okay but the service was terrible. We had to ask for menus after we were seated, and we had to ask them again to bring the bread to our table. One of us had to stand up and walk over to our server just to get their attention when we were ready to order. When it was time to pay, they were very rude when we asked them to put our meals on separate bills. They didn't seem to understand that some of us were paying with cash, and others were paying with debit or credit. About 20 minutes later they finally brought our separate bills. Overall, it was not the best start to our prom night.

It is obviously a fancy restaurant. The dishes are relatively pricey, but you kinda expect that before you walk in. The food has good quality and the environment is pleasant. The waiter is not very friendly, he just seems not to be very familiar with the menu and dishes. Maybe he is new. Other than that, it is a good place to take your date to.

Highly over rated! I ordered some type of stuffed ravioli...which honestly tasted as if it were just heated up from out of a can! there was no meat....for a $30 order of about 6 small squares of cheese ravioli! I do understand the quality of good food and sometimes good food can be highly priced BUT the food was not at all worth the price! I dont understand how this restaurant is still in business....the food is tasteless...and extremely over priced...and i have never seen such small portions EVER!!

A perfect evening. Was seated in a comfortable location. Waiter was very helpful with the wine list. Menu was unique yet traditional for Italian. After a great meal the manager even came over and briefly spoke with us to see how everything was. Great food. Great service. Great time.

A great find! A charming atmosphere, laid-back and cozily lit with much attention given to detail. The staff was wonderful. Our waiter answered all of our questions about Sardinian cuisine and recommended the perfect wine to compliment our meal. The food was fabulous and distinctive, while still not straying too far from its roots. I tried the Costata D'oro, an aged Black Angus rib-eye steak in a garlic marinade. It was delicious. I highly recommend this unique Sardinian restaurant and will definitely be going back.

I was sat promptly and had to ask my server whom wanted to take my drink order for a wine list, He was not briefed on the wines and had no suggestions. As we reviewed our menu I ordered the tomato and mozzarella appetizer, our server still insisted and brought over the appetizer special that was plated for my approval. He did not get it, I wanted the tomato and mozzarella appetizer not the special. Perhaps I should have gotten his hint? The tomato mozzarella appetizer cam with 4 thin tomato slices and a small Buffalo ball cut in half for 14.95. Appetizer came promptly as well as are dinner that was outstanding, but after the dinner was served our served disappeared for nearly 30 minutes then after asking if we carried for dessert disappeared for nearly 45 min. I don?t mine a pricy menu when the chef has created extraordinary dishes but the appetizer was not there and the manager? Did they have one? He never made a presents in the dining room. There are to many great restaurants in that area to try this restaurant a second time.

On a valentines dinner night, I paid $70 for a porterhouse steak that was kinda tough. And the steak knife was'nt even sharp enough to cut it smooth. I was fighting the steak all night and finally gave up. I did'nt complain to the manager because it was suppose to be a romantic evening with my fiancee.

The food was mediocre at best, but the service was even worse. We had an older grey haired waiter that felt as though he was doing us a favor by waiting on us. He almost never made eye contact while speaking to us and we had to ask the busboys to get him everytime we needed him! The sad part of it all is that the restaurant only had 4 other tables in the dining room! We'll never go back, it was a complete waste of time and money! My main concern is this, how can the management not observe that this "professional waiter" is doing such a lousy job...in the long run this restaurant will suffer.

My fiance and I like to dine out, and Arcodoro is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is delcious. I would recommend one of my favorite dishes, which is the "risotto al nero con scampi al timo". They also have a great selection of wine. The service is amazing; they always treat us like family.

Arcodoro was a big dissapointment. The service has been one of the worst. They said that i had to order appetizer, main course and dessert all at once because their computer service was old. That did not make any sence! I complained to the manager and they were able to fix the problem. The place is beautiful, but the food was rather plain. The best thing was the tiramisu. I don't think i will be returning to Arcodoro, there are better Italian restaurants in Houston.

As an owner of an Italian restaurant, and an Italian I'm not going to be able to recmmend this place. This surely is with respect to the man, a friend , who owns the place but due to very poor managment and the lack of "good" food the restaurant is not much to talk about. I think that if it wasn't for his location and the decor then he would not be doing any business. Now if you want the closest thing to an Italian food there's only one place in Houston and that's Da Marco. It's almost the same price but the food is like a night and day. I don't work for Da Marco and I've got nothing against Arcodoro but the service and the food. It's beyond me how some folks can open a restaurant and call it Italian, " Sardenian or not". If you want to go there and hang out a little and have a pizza with a beer or glass of wine then it's ok but that's all I can say about Arcodoro and most the so called, " Italian Restaurant" in Houston.

Nice decor but otherwise pricy food and very poor service. We treated a friend for her birthday and waited for 90 minutes before receving our entrees. In the meantime, we wanted to enjoy our bread & wine, but we couldn't even do that - we had to ask for our bread. When the food came, we were quite disappointed and we didn't even get a slice of cake with a birthday candle. We paid for that cake. Small portions, poor quality and poor customer service for the price. I wouldn't waste money or ruin a Saturday night on their food. Try other Italian restuarants if you want great Italian food, great service, and reasonable prices.

Family of 7, tired and hungry, vacationing for the past 4 days and nights, walked in, no reservation, treated like King, queen,&prince & princesses. Try the lobster apetizer "the greatest". Osso Bucca, Arcodoro must have invented it "Amazing". Service, from entertaining my youngest to allow my wife and I to relax over wine to having good family felt care at the table, the staff is a 5+ star group. Great mood italian opera "Bocceli", and the bread, Forgetaboutit! It was the best. Wine by the glass was top notch and the suggestions of the waiter and chefs were a palitable explosion of Italian flavor. My wife and I both eat out in Louisiana often and she is third generation Sicilian. She and I both thought is was one of the most delightful dinners we have ever shared with our family. I felt no pressure to be anybody but myself in this "Home away from Home".

great space in the galleria and unexpected warmth. although the food was overpriced. the idea of the pork fileto is fab, the delivery is sub par. tough meat and pastey sauce. for 28 bucks i want the 4 medallions to melt in my mouth. the veggies were delicous and buttery. my girlfriends pasta was amazing until i realized 18 bucks for a spoonful serving. our server was super. the support staff great. my water glass always full. i have no problem paying 80 bucks for a 2 person meal and no drinks, but it ought to be great!!!

Enjoyed a wonderful hearty and rustic gnocchi with wild boar pasta as well as a salad, washed it down with the signature grapparita cocktail. The food was delicious and enjoyable. I would return to try another one of their Sardinian inspired dishes since they sound so intriguing. Dishes seem pricey, there were families so large groups and children are welcome, if managed well.

I have been to Arcodoro several times, being myself from Italy. It is an excellent place to dine and the food is great and authentic. I am convinced that the few bad reviews I have found here are written by people that think they eat Italian when they go at the Olive Garden or the Spaghetti Factori....bleah!
So, if you want excellent italian food, this is the place to go. If you want fake italian food (like fettuccine alfredo and overcooked spaghetti) go somewhere else...

Boy, do I love going to this place on Sunday! We went with the dinner club Eight Friends Out on Sunday for brunch and mimosas. I'm a vegetarian so I had Farfalle ai 4 Formaggi, 4 cheese bowtie pasta, and it was light and tasty. The Insalata Paesana was also light and refreshing, with mixed greens, baby tomatillos, red onions, and pears sliced so thin you could see through, with goat cheese in a light vinaigrette! The dessert was hazelnut ice cream topped with fresh berries in a mirto liquor, topped with a pistachio nut biscotti. So light and divine, I thought I went to heaven! Well, I did! I went to Arcodoro! ;) P.S. The staff is perfetto! Very attentive, very friendly, and top notch!

Before anything, I hate to be rude to the negative commenters on this restaurant, but the fact is if you are trying to find a restaurant to feast this is not for you (Try pappas restaurants if you want to really let loose).

Overall, the food is excellent, though nothing out of the ordinary. The main attractive parts about this restaurant is the atmosphere which is quite unique and must be experienced. The wine is great too.

My boyfriend and I were in the Galleria area and were trying to find a place to eat before our movie started. We thought we would try Arcodoro on a whim. Well, what a disappointment! My boyfriend ordered some wine and they did not have it so the waiter just brought out another one without asking him first which I thought was rude. They did not have any iced tea for me, they had "not made any that night yet" and I waited almost until our entrees hit the table before I finally received my drink. Meanwhile I was eating the bread and so thirsty. Our entrees were so overpriced for their mediocore taste and quantity. Our waiter just say us a total of about 3 times to bring our drinks, food and check. Won't be going back any time soon.

This is the place to be!!! I had such a wondeful experience this past Saturday night. Had a drink at the bar with one of the best bartenders I've seen and then proceeded to my table. Do NOT go here at ALL costs. The food was TASTELESS and the portions were MINIMAL at best. The chicken had NO flavor whatsoever and was tough and chewy. For goodness sakes, the Olive Garden is better! The decor, though, is excellent.

A late dinner at Arcodoro last Friday night proved to be one of the high points of our Houston weekend. Our party of four arrived at 9:30 and the restaurant was packed! The food was outstanding. Our dueling appetizers were the Mozzarella con Funghi Trifolati (my personal favorite) and the carpaccio of beef filet mignon. For an entree, I chose the Dover sole. One of our companions ordered the venison chop, which was as good as I've ever tasted. An excellent wine list offered plenty of choices to complement our meal. Afterward, we didn't think we could possibly make room for dessert, but managed to share two outstanding choices with our coffee. The wait staff were knowledgeable and attentive, and the atmosphere lively. And, unlike some restaurants I've visited recently, you could still enjoy conversation with your companions. We look forward to a return visit. Michal Bagley Austin, Texas
