We have lived in Van Alstyne for 25 years and were excited when this place opened. We have been in and out for oil changes over the years. I have had some positive and a few negative experiences (including loose oil plugs) there, but nothing so negative as to cause us to never use them, UNTIL NOW. . .
On a Thursday, we took our pickup in for an oil change and radiator flush. On Friday, radiator leaked ALL the fluid out of it. When we took it back, they assured us that that could not have possibly happened because of the radiator flush. They replaced the radiator as we were leaving town that evening to go out of state and we needed the problem solved and they said they would "help us out" with it. When we picked up the truck that afternoon (it was done in time), they said they knocked off 1/2 hour of labor. So the total was $400. Said we were good to go, that the radiator was under warranty and we would have no more problems. We did make it the 5 hours to our destination that evening. The next morning, we drove 30 miles and the truck overheated, burned up most of it's oil and lost all of its radiator fluid. We had to have it towed. Fortunately, the friend we were visiting's father was a retired mechanic. We had a hose blow off of the radiator and the other hoses were not attached tightly. One could moved three turns with your fingers! Thank goodness for our friends to bail us out of a mess that should never have been created in the first place. When we returned to Van Alstyne on Monday, we took the truck back up and let them know what happened. They denied any possibility of wrong doing, did not offer to make right the towing and parts that we had to purchase. Stay away, so many other good places in Van Alstyne to go and have confidence that the job will be done correctly the FIRST time!

$40 for an oil change on a 2 wheel drive 4 cylinder? Outrageous.

I took my car in for an oil change and they were quick and efficent ..they did not try to upsell anything to me. I was satisfied until I went to get into my car and my door would not open all the way. I asked the manager "Dustin" about it and he said when he opened my door he heard a popping sound and did not tell me. So what happened was he opened my door and the popping sound was a dent he put in the fiberglass that covers the wheel so when I went to get in the car it pushed into fiberglass that covers my tire.....he refused to acknowledge the fact that he messed up my door and I am very upset about that...seeing as they have no "coporate" office since it is franchise...I am just writing a review to warn people.

Neat clean place and friendly faces. They are willing to go an extra step. I had my oil change, fuel filter and car wash done in 20 minutes. I am a sales person I value my time alot. These people were very quick and had finished it on time so i could make it for my appointment. Good work guys.... I'll be back

Great place to take all your vehicles for a fast and friendly service. All in one place for maintenance, repair and a hand wash.

I usually don't write reviews but I happened to come across theses and I wanted to express my own since I go to Kwik Kar in Van Alstyne for oil change on regular basis. It appears some of the negative comments posted most likely come from a disturbed, disgruntle customer or a former unhappy employee wanting to discredit these good folks at Kwik Kar. I have been going to Kwik Kar since they open in 2005 to do oil changes and other scheduled maintenance services even-though I am a customer service manager for a large auto dealership in Dallas for the past 22 years. I get most of my services done at Kwik Kar because they are fast, convenient and they follow the same manufacturer guidelines as we do at the dealership. I read one negative comment from Drew R. claiming he has cheated Kwik Kar by making a deal under a table with a Kwik Kar employee and had paid him $100 cash to repair his car without generating and sales. Does he realize he is the crook and not the Kwik Kar, if true his action is theft which is criminal offense and if true both of them could have faced criminal charges? Another comment by Jenna R. is very silly, funny and amusing. It could have been written more realistic to make it appear genuine for others to buy. Assuming it is true, I have been in car business for over 35 years and I have never seen or heard of that an employee that feeds his family and gets paid by selling services tell his customers that what I says to you is false and I am just saying it because we want to make more profit. Most people care about their cars. If you are interested to keep your vehicle in a good working condition you need to follow your car's manufacture recommendations. All dealerships as well as business such as Kwik Kar provide and sell automobile preventive maintenance service. That means they advise you what services are due according to your manufacturer recommendations to extend the life and proper operation of your vehicle. It does not mean you have these things wrong with your car and you have to do them. Brake inspection service is not a preventive maintenance which means no one inspects your car's brakes as part of doing oil change or another service, unless they are doing a service that requires removing your wheels or you have an obvious operational fault with your brakes. Your comment are false, you cannot check and inspect brake pads shoes, drums and discs without removing the wheels. Doing a brake inspection is not free. If your story is true your hubby must have gone to Kwik Kar or another place with intention of having brake service or inspection and paid diagnostic fee ($50 at my dealership) to have them remove the wheels and inspect your breaks. Final thoughts folks, don't believe and accept any comments or reviews you read on any business, they are just comments, especially when they are missing technical facts or if you don't knowing their true intentions. I service over 1000 cars a month in my dealership. Just like Kwik Kar, McDonald, Walmart and many other business we also get hundreds of good and bad reviews. I have no favoritism toward my dealership, Kwik Kar or anyone else; all I say check the facts before you draw an opinion

I have been here several times and each time they seem to get more and more scandalous. Last time I went the service tech came in and told me all these things wrong with my car, then pulled me to the side and said actually there was nothing wrong with it, but the boss lady told him to tell me things were wrong so they could make more profit... I applaude his honesty. My hubby then took his in a week later and they advised he needed new brake pads and they could do that for him. He (knowing they are crooked) took it to brake experts who (would you believe it) said your brakes are fine and do not need to be replaced. We asked them are you sure, bc we just had it checked at kwik kar in Van Alstyne, and they assured us those people were just trying to scam you bc there is nothing wrong with your brakes. i should have called the police on them to set these people up. this is not good business.

I took my wife's Mazda because it was making some unusual brake noise. The manager approached me and said that they have test drive and take the tires off to inspect it and it will take few minutes as they were busy with existing customer. I agreed to leave the car and told them to call me after they check the brakes. I received a call from manager after 30 minutes that the brakes were fine and there was a plastic wrapped around the wheels causing that noise. They did not charged me anything. I appreciate their honesty and will definitely take all my cars there for repair and maintenance. It is a certified place and they warranty their work for a year.

Kwik Kar Oil & Lube 1 Shady Business
The firs time I took my car into Kwick Kar for an oil change they came out and said I needed to change my gas filter. They took it out and showed me it was dirty. No big deal it was 10 year old car so I figured it might need to be changed.

The next time I took my car in for an oil change. They called me over and had me look at my oil pan. Said it was leaking. The Mechanic said he would fix for 100 dollars. It looked like it was leaking but what do I know. Later he showed me from his iphone pictures of my "blow gasket?, but I didn??t see the dates of when that picture was taken and he had other pictures he was also working on. Then he said if I could pay him 100 dollars under the table because he could get fired for not charging by the hour and letting the manger know. He already did the work so I paid him, felt like I had been taking advantage of.

BECAREFUL WITH THESE PEOPLE I TOOK MY TAHOE THERE TO RENEW INSPECTION THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED TO REPLACE MY SERPENTINE BELT BEFORE MY VEHICLE WOULD PASS STATE REQUIREMENTS. I ASKED WHAT DID A BELT HAVE TO DO WITH THE SAFETY INSPECTION THEY SAID IT WAS STATE LAW CRITERIA AND FOR $ 300 THEY WOULD REPLACE IT AND PASS MY TRUCK. THEY EVEN BROUGHT THE INSPECTION GUIDE OUT AND SAID I COULD LOOK IT UP MYSELF. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY WHO PUT ME IN TOUCH WITH THE PROPER INDIVIDUAL WITH THE STATE AND WAS QUICKLY INFORMED THAT WHAT THEY HAD SAID WAS INCORRECT AND THAT THEY WERE JUST TRYING TO CON ME INTO WORK THAT WAS NOT NECESSARY JUST TO GENERATE PROFIT. WHEN I OFFERED TO HAND THE PHONE TO THE KWIK KAR MGR HE QUICKLY PLACED AN INSPECTION STICKER ON MY TRUCK AND OFFERED A MULTITUDE OF EXCUSES WHY HE HAD EMPHATICALLY DECLARED THE NEED FOR THE REPLACEMENT. IN MY OPINION THEY ARE JUST CON MEN AND THIEVES
