The food use to good, but now Cafe Paladar is closed, now our best Restaurant is Meson Euroepean Restaurant, located at 927 North Loop 1604 East and Hardy Oak. It has the grilled tenderloin cut beef and the only that make ceasar salad with fresh ingredient.

Cafe Paladar has some interesting aspects, and in a competitivve environment on San Antonio's north side, is trying to stand out from the rest. Most notable are the "themed dinners," which are a creative idea involving parings of various types of entrees with glasses of wine or spirits. On the plus side, the themed dinners are certainly different from the fare at the other corporate franchises in the area, and the atmosphere is often festive. The caveats, however, include the fixed menu at the themed dinners, the marketing by some of the beverage vendors featured in the dinner and the shared table arrangements with diners of different parties. It's also a little pricey. The happy-hour drinks are a new thing, and are superb. The brunches are really great, with a four-course menu including unlimited champagne or mimosas at an accessible price. In sum, you probably want to give Paladar a try for its creativeness and for it not being part of a chain, although be prepared for a slightly "clubby" or insider atmosphere.

Cafe Paladar has a wide variety of menu items available, including tapas, gazpacho, sangeria, paella, etc. All delicious, a great restaurant for someone who is ready to try new and delicious dishes. Brunch is a MUST! Bring dates, office peers or parents for a night that's sure to impress!

This was a great experience. My best girl & I had never been here before and were both winding up a stressful week, so when we were asked if we had reservations (we didn't) I thought the stress was going to continue upwards. I was pleasantly surprised when we were seated quickly anyway. Everything from that point on was exceptional! Try the Key Lime cocktail! It is amazing, it tastes so much like key lime pie that I could have had if for dessert. We ordered 3 tapas with the lobster chorizo cigar being our favorite; you really should try it. Neither of us would have thought to put those together but it works so well. The salads were great, and we shared the snapper entree. The fish was cooked perfectly and the hash on which it was served was amazing. That worked out to be the perfect amount of food too, we were both satiated without being stuffed. Great food plus a sophisticated and cozy atmosphere added up to a very special romantic evening out. Well worth the money; actually pretty reasonable for the experience. We are looking forward to our next trip there.

We discovered Cafe Paladar, a new Southwestern food offering in north San Antonio, whilst looking for someplace a bit different for Sunday brunch last weekend. This new restaurant opened by owners Chef Brian and Mary West along Loop 1604 near Texas 281 was a delightful surprise and a welcome addition to our select list of San Antonio's best restaurants. We are foodies who have sampled the best gourmet faire in Paris, London, Rome, Sydney, Cape Town, Tokyo, HongKong, New York City, Los Angeles and countless other centers of dining excellence.in between. The masterful fusion of Southwestern and Latin flavors, textures and colors at Cafe Paladar was in the finest traditions of the best of our experiences. Chef Brian's offerings mix Tappas and multi-course styles seamlessly. The Brunch menu started with a family-style Tappas selection of four light explorations of sweet, tart and delicate tastes (sort of an Amuse Bouche Potpourri). The meal ended with a creative offering of four different light desert surprises, each with a different consistency. In between were more traditional soups, salads and entrees with a non-traditional attention to flavor and pleasing texture, and each built anticipation for the course to follow. By the end of the meal we had experienced a series of taste highs that had us talking Chef Brian's ear off. I can still taste my Apple Butter Glazed Chilean Sea Bass!!! We have already planned for our next visit to Cafe Paladar, and we highly recommend that y'all do the same.

Lots of different flavors, and unique dishes. But definitely stick with wine... the cocktails were not so good. Our server on the other hand... eek. Wonderful restaurant. We just ate there for the first time on Saturday night. We were very impressed by the service, food, and ambiance. We ordered a few tapas ( little bite size appetizers), the crab napoleon salad ( with fresh avocado and mango) , and for the main course we had the beef tenderloin and the Mahi Mahi. It was so unique and delicious. We recommend that you go all out at this restaurant, it is well worth it to try the tapas and the entrees. The stone oak area has many great restaurants, but we have to say that this one is the most unique, intimate, and delectable. Cafe Paladar is a hidden gem.

You won't find this menu anywhere else. If you like unique (but good) dining, you'll enjoy this place. I've eaten there quite a bit and 90% of the time it's excellent, and the remaining times the owners have fixed it. The wine list is small but good (not too many high end wines) and has different wines than you'll see at a chain. I do wish the Paella were still served in a skillet though.
Here is a tip if you want to try it without spending big: go in for a glass of wine (or whatever) and tapas (appetizer finger food). They are inexpensive ($3.00 ea.) and very tasty

I went to Cafe Paladar on Sunday the 1-20 and loved it. This truely is the best Brunch in Town.
I have been in for Dinner 6 times and alway have a wonderfull time, but this took the cake.

Last night we dined at cafe paladar for the first time with a small group of friends. Although we'd heard about it (good things), read about it, and see the sign everyday, the place itself isn't very visible and is tucked away in a small strip of businesses, so we'd never gotten around to going there. One of the couples had made the suggestion, and we are so thankful they did. We were all first-timers and had a lovely experience! The food was very good (although I will agree it is a bit pricey) and we intend to go again. The only reason I won't give it a 5 star is because I've only been there once so I don't know if it's consistent with its service, food, etc. The great thing was that we went at 7pm on a Saturday and it wasn't super-busy, we were seated right away. The disappointing thing (for my husband anyway) was that he ordered the paella which was described as being presented authentically in the skillet, but it came out on a regular dinner plate. We all tried each other's dishes and tapas, all were very good. At the table we had the Lobster & Corn Chile Rellenos (2ppl), the phyllo wrapped Sea Bass, the Paella, and the Ribeye (2 ppl), all was great, the potatoes that came with the ribeyes were to die for, although the black beans with the Rellenos were nothing special (good but nothing special). We will definitely be going back. -- to the owners, I'm sorry you've had some very poor reviews as I cannot even fathom someone saying that Cafe Paladar is worthy of only 1 star!! Maybe some people spend a little too much time at Swig before coming over for dinner?!?! :) I'm so glad we tried your place. Thanks again!

Needless to say I didn't think the experience could get any worse, but it did! while on my way to the ladies room, I noticed 2 big chinche's on the hallway wall! Where else could they be?...in the kitchen perhaps?
Won't be visiting this place again or recommending it either, so don't waste your time

the mole served was absolutely great! one dish that you must try is their Tomato and Cucumber Gazpacho, it is just great! Their tapas are priced well as is the taste. it is a great taste. Another dish is the Guacamole salad, if you are a fan of guacamole, this is the dish to get. It's made fresh at the table. There really isn't a bad thing i can say about the food or the customer service. The waitress gave a great introduction to the restaurant and chef. Definitely a jewel to be found in San Antonio.
