I've adopted two fantastic dogs from this shelter and would encourage others to do the same.
It is a myth that shelter dogs and cats are problems or don't make great pets! Usually they are there because the person who owned them was irresponsible or had a problem. Both my dogs, formerly neglected strays, are friendly, quick to learn, fun-loving and gentle with kids. All they needed was a loving home with an owner willing to provide what every dog (and every child, for that matter) needs: ongoing positive teaching, playful exercise, nutritious meals and medical care.

As a municipal shelter they do not have the luxury of turning away any animal to prevent overcrowding and thus cannot be a no-kill facility. However, the staff and volunteers are friendly, helpful and compassionate despite having to cope with a tiny budget and daily crisis. They do a remarkable job saving as many animals as possible and providing kindly care for each animal and clean, safe living conditions until each is adopted or sadly, must be must be put down to make space for new arrivals.

If you are considering enriching your life with a pet, please look here first!
