I had a terrible haircut here. Obviously you can't put hair back. Also, when I've tried contacting them about this, their phone message has been repeating that "they are closed at this time." This is during business hours..How can you run a business like this. I will not be going back and I urge any new customers to think twice about going here. It is not that fabulous for it's exorbitant prices. Not worth it!

Jessica just moved to Ann Kelso from Bella Salon. Much better location - just steps from all things cool in SOCO. Great parking garage just behind the salon on Elizabeth St.

Jessica is the best hair stylist : listens to what i want, takes her time. I love my new cut and especially the color. Wow.

Crystal rocks! I've been going to Ann Kelso salon for a while now, just getting my hair done, but recently I've had some skin issues and decided to branch out.
Georgia was extremely knowledgeable and polite, she really helped me out and I rescheduled with her right away to keep my skin vibrant and healthy.

In my profession I am constantly meeting with clients and shaking hands and my wife would constantly cringe at the state of my hands and finally talked me into getting them done, and I'm glad she did! Being a man, I was very apprehensive about going to get my nails done, I didn't think that was a normal thing.

Arriving at Ann Kelso Salon I noticed that there were a few other men getting services so this calmed me down a bit, but Pam, my nail technician really put my mind at ease.
She helped me get over my fear of what is considered "normal". Pam informed me that a large percentage of her clientele is male and that it isn't out of the ordinary. She made a difference with the state of my hands, she cleaned them up and even told me ways I could keep them looking nice between appointments.

I will be back, I'm proud to say that I'm a man that gets his nails done.

After trying everything for my arthritis pain, I finally was talked into acupuncture by a friend of mine. I decided to see Dave at Ann Kelso and boy was he great! ! My first day was a total relief of my leg and headache pain. I encourage anyone to give acupuncture a try. It beats taking a prescription every day, knowing the meds really take care of the symptom not the actual problem. I am now able to function normally in my everyday life.

I am new to Austin and was nervous about trying a new stylist, but Angela made all the difference. She greeted me right away and invited me back to her station for an in depth consultation. We went over any issues I was facing with my hair and what I was looking for in color. She was quick, but thorough and provided wonderful styling tips for me to help tame my unruly hair. I will definitely go back and see her again.

Let's just say.... I am done going to this salon/spa!! I have on more than one occasion showed up for my "confirmed" appointment to find out I was: 1) double booked the service, 2) my appointment was canceled or deleted from the system, or 3) my appointment was not the service I had booked. Ugh!!

To top it off --- the ladies working the phones and front desk never have apologize or show any concern for the error or inconvenience. It is too bad. If I owned the salon I would be concerned.

So, if you make an appointment, be sure to confirm it after they have....

I called to make an appointment with a specific stylist. They didn't even acknowledge my request and then proceeded to tell me the name of another stylist and their availability. I once again repeated that I wanted a specific stylist and they told me that the soonest I could get in was wit hthe other stylist. I told them that I really didn't care if I had to wait for the other stylist I just wanted the other person. They said the person available was just as good. I decided that if they weren't even easy to deal with on the phone then I probably shouldn't get a hairstyle there

I've been seeing Maya for my haircuts for over a year now and have been so happy with her cuts. She does exactly what I ask her to do, is so nice and very professional.

I have been going to Meredith for about 4yr. She's the Best. We always have alot to talk about and I really love the way she cuts my hair. I get compliments almost every day on how cute my hair is. I have been going to Debbie for about 4 years now and can't say I have ever been dissapointed. She is so personable and she really cares about her clients happiness. She shapes my eyebrows exactly how I want ever time and pays extra attention to the blonde hairs that are hard to get. Oh and I never break out with her. She is perfect. I have sent about 10 friends to her and all of them say she does an amazing job. Go see Debbie for perfect brows!

DANNY is the super best!!! I've been 'seeing' Danny for gosh 3 or 4 years?? HE is amazing!! His color is spot on and he will work with you on whatever your hair needs. When you meet Danny your usually greeted with that amazing warm smile of his. He takes you to his station and proceeds to make you his only priority while you are with him. He listens to what your thoughts are, your concerns and questions. Then tells you what he thinks, and works with you to get your desired look..... When I see Danny I get to spend 3-4 hours with him for a color, hi-lights and cut; followed by an amazing blo-dry and style that makes me feel sxy as heck! I love that. Anne Kelso did their part in getting ahold of Danny. So when you call ask for Danny! Great job Anne Kelso keep of the good work!

I just got a fantastic cut and highlight from Anne Kelso's newest stylist, Todd. He did an amazing job making me feel comfortable, gave me an incredible massage while shampooing, and was so much FUN to talk to. He took the time to explain all the products to me and made sure I knew how to style my great new cool cut when I got home. He made me laugh, was on time and foiled my hair faster than anybody!

He has SO much experience, I'm glad I got to know him before he gets to be booked up all the time. Did I mention the highlights were the best I ever had??

I stopped by Ann Kelso Salon for an emergency haircut and facial during a trip here from Colorado. My skin and hair always go crazy with the climate change. From the moment I walked in I was greeted like a friend by the front desk staff. They got me in on the same day in my desperation. Georgia gave an excellent hour long facial with delicious smelling product. She is warm, nurturing and made me totally comfortable. My haircut with Suzanne was perfect. Listened to all my concerns and helped me find product to tame the crazies. An overall excellent experience. Thanks for making a colorado girl comfortable in Texas!

I really looked forward to a creative stylist and a great haircut when I went to Anne Kelso! I got neither plus the stylist (I use the term loosely) was rude beyond belief. We talked prior to the haircut and I explained my wants and needs but she then proceeded to do exactly what she wanted to do - cut my hair extremely short when I kept telling her that I did not want this to look like a "new" haircut and preferred to come in frequently rather than having it take two weeks to get to a decent length. Did I mention that she also cut my ear with her scissors and did nothing to cover it until I told her that it was stinging. When she finished, she said that she was an "organic" stylist and did not like to style hair that wasn't going to have a natural look???? What could that possibly mean? I cannot believe that I have to live with this terrible cut but I can tell you that I will never set foot in that salon again. The worst experience I have had anywhere in a long long time.

All that I have to say is that Danny really knows how to handle curly hair! I have a ton of hair and curl. Danny made me feel comfortable and really had a grasp of the curly hair issue...lol
Danny not only cut, but styled, straightened, cut some more, styled some more and completely made me look like a different person. I loved it!

I?ve been getting waxed, since my sophomore year in college. And, though I dare not divulge exactly how long ago that was, suffice to say, I am a veteran of the great Brazilian waxing debacle. Over some years and several states, I have been burned, humiliated, skinned, and even sexually propositioned! Any woman reading this, who has ever had a Brazilian, much less many Brazilians, can attest to what an absolute nightmare waxing can be. I have never met a masseuse I didn?t like, but finding someone to rip hair out of the most sensitive area on my body, and do it with little to no pain seems rather impossible, right?

At Ann Kelso salon, I met an angel named Sabrina Ewing, who proved the contrary.
I had heard about Ann Kelso when they were still at their north location, but never stopped in to evaluate the hype. A couple of weeks ago, I met a friend for lunch at Mars. She asked me if I had seen the brand new swanky 78704 building, and if I had been to the new Ann Kelso housed inside. This brought our conversation to the topic at hand. WHERE DO YOU FIND AN ESTHETICIAN THAT WON?T TORTURE YOU? When our hysteric laughter subsided, she informed me that she had been going to Sabrina for the least painful bikini, leg, and eyebrow waxes that she had ever experienced.

Based upon my friend?s recommendation, I decided to give Sabrina a try, though I was still a bit apprehensive about getting a Brazilian on our first encounter. Sabrina not only met my expectations?she exceeded them. Not only was it relatively painless, compared to my past experiences, but she was done in less than 15 minutes! Kudos to you, Sabrina! In my opinion, you are the best esthetician in the World! As long as I am living in Austin, you're my girl!

Curly girls know exactly what I am about to say: finding a stylist that truly understands curls and knows how to cut them is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Austin curlygirls, thank GOODNESS we have Ethan Shaw. We are LUCKY to have him (and San Antonio girls, this can go for you too...I'd drive that far for a cut from him!) I can't say enough good things about him. He transformed my fine, thick, wavy hair into beautiful ringlets and curls that are so soft, well-defined, and even in the heat and humidity, minimal frizz. And it takes absolutely no time to do my hair. Ethan understands the real secret: there are no heads of hair that are alike, and definitely no two curly heads. There are no fancy tricks here, no tons of product (and as curly girls know, less is more). It's all in the cut. His cuts last 8 weeks too. He takes the time before, during, and after the cut to explain what he is doing, why he is doing it, and how it will work, so when you leave, you have a better understanding of your hair and how to get it to do what you want.
Ethan is a treasure, and he is also a really friendly, nice, down to earth guy. I know my review focused on curly hair, but I'm betting that he is probably good with hair of any texture because he seems to understand so well how to work with what you have.

I had an appointment with Tamra(or Tamara, not sure of the spelling) and she did a fantastic job on my hair. I couldn't be happier. I have had the worst luck in the last few years with stylists. Not anymore. Now I have manageable hair that really suits me. Yay!!

My daughter and I recently had our hair cut and colored by Tamra. She is very professional and " knows her stuff"! I have very fine,thin, and graying hair. She gave me a great cut and color. Other stylists have not been able to do both. They usually cut it way too short or layer it too much and the color hasn't been the best.
My daughter had gotten a cut(by someone else) that was very uneven, so Tamra fixed it and cut some cute bangs.
We're very pleased with our transformations.
The salon is very comfortable and relaxed.
....Very nice experience....

I found ann kelso salon on city serach and liked that more than 9 out of 10 reviews were great! I set up a consultation with susan the same day I called and we booked my appointment the next morning! I had extremely blonde hair, almost white, and my roots were growing in, i also had some of my natural hair color underneath. I wanted to blend everything together and look more natural. I had so many different shades and tones in my hair I didn't think it was possible. Susan transformed my damaged unatural looking blonde into soft shiny golden locks that i love! It being such a transformation i was little sceptical at first and wasn't quite sure about the color. susan was very understanding in trying to figure out what i didn't like and what could be done to fix it. but once it was all dry and styled, I LOVED IT! thank you susan. highly recommended for blondes!

KENDRA GIVES THE ALL TIME BEST MASSAGES!!!!! SHE IS THE SWEETIEST PERSON EVER AND MAKES THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE COMFORTABLE AND RELAXING. SHE WORKED OUT MY KINKS AND THEN SOME. SHE'S SO EDUCATED ABOUT HER FIELD AND REALLY LISTENED TO WHAT I NEEDED. OH AND DANNY... WHAT CAN I SAY, NO ONE HAS EVER GIVEN ME A BETTER HAIRCUT AND I DON'T HAVE EASY HAIR TO DEAL WITH. Ann Kelso is a very very nice place, i would recommend it to anyone. the atmosphere is nice, the decor is very pretty and relaxing and the staff are really nice. Also, they let you add gratuity to the bill so if you don't have to worry about having cash to tip with which is really nice. Willow is my hairstylist and she is the best!! i brought pictures to her of what i wanted and she was able to give me a cut that resembled the picture but was actually better for my hair and face shape. i normally get bored and switch haircuts every couple of months, but i haven't changed the one she gave me, except to get it trimmed. and she has an awesome personality so going to get your haircut with her is always fun. so definitely check out ann kelso, it is the best :)

I walked in right off the street and asked for an appointment today - looking like total hell, I might add. The front desk staff were really nice and set me up with a stylist in my price range on the spot. Brett gave me a great cut and was so nice to chat with. I will be back here next time I'm in Austin - I might have to schedule a trip next time I need a hair cut!

Anne Kelso's new location on south congress is beautiful! I am in love with it. They have been opened for a few days and I had to get down there to check it out. There is still construction going on in the building and it was a little noisy, but as soon as that is done it will be perfect! I have been a loyal Anne Kelso customer for years for hair/waxing/facials/nails and now they are in a new, large, clean space where I can truly enjoy all of these services in comfort. I have seen quite a few different hair stylists and I have ALWAYS walked away perfectly happy. I have seen Emily & Nicola for waxing and they are very skilled. And Pam gives a nice lasting pedicure - the new pedicure chairs look gorgeous and I can't wait to try them out!! The best part about Anne Kelso is that the people that work there are FUN, HELPFUL, and NICE.... and now the location is beautiful and the parking is convenient. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!

I went to this salon because several of my co-workers said the results were great. I wish I had never listened to them. The girl that cut my hair wasn't paying attention when I told her what I wanted and I ended up with a horrible haircut! I am very sad that this happened to me and regret that I cannot recommend this salon to anyone else. The management doesn't care about it's customers! They expect you to come back and let someone in the salon 'fix' what the other person messed up. Not only do I not want to be humiliated and be targeted as the complainer I don't have confidence that they have the ability to correct this. I am going to have to go elsewhere and pay someone else to fix their mess. Their policy on not refunding for service is absurd! They don't know how an unhappy customer should be treated. If they had been willing to refund my haircut I would have left this alone and I would never mention it to anyone else. Maybe one day they will learn that sometimes it's better to lose the cost of the cut rather than have negative publicity.

For any of you brides out there you know how stressful coordinating a large party can be. UGH! I was planning a party with several girls for nails and massage/facial before my wedding and then also for hair the day of my wedding. The girls at the front desk were so helpful with getting everything coordinated. They made it so easy for everything. Once we got there they were extremely attentive and the service providers were wonderful. Everyones nails looked great and their hair looked amazing. The parking was a little hectic but that will all be solved when they move to their new location.
Once they move to the new location (the end of this month) I'm booking a full day at the spa!

I had a terrible experience at Anne Kelso salon! I won't mention the name of the stylist but I was not happy with the cut and after expressing my feelings she told me I just needed a few days to "get used to it." I feel that she didn't listen to what I wanted and cut my hair as she envisioned it (a 1980's bob with absurd bangs!). She told me I could call her in a few days if I still wasn't happy. The color was good but kept shampooing out for about a week. I was also "encouraged" to buy pricey products that turned out to be worthless. I spent several days trying to call the salon manager and when I finally got in touch with her I explained the situation and requested a refund of my cut and product cost. I was willing to pay for the color and the $30 tip I left. She told me that I should have called her sooner because she would have set me up with another stylist to cut my hair. I was not comfortable with going back to the SAME salon so they could massacre my hair even more. The 'policy' for dissatisfied customers is no where to be seen, by the way! She also said I could EXCHANGE my products but no refund or I could get a credit. I then asked for a credit for the hair cut and that I could use another salon service. She refused too. I also work in the beauty/fashion environment and I will tell EVERYONE I know about the substandard customer service at this salon. I went elsewhere to get my hair fixed (for $25 and the best haircut of my life!) and the entire experience cost me $250. Shame, shame, Anne Kelso..... I will go out of my way to tell my customers how horribly I was treated there. PS. my stylist was 45 minutes late to the appointment and I got no apology.

Before I found Ethan Shaw to cut my hair, I would always spend hours straighting my hair. Now with Ethan's expertise in cutting curly hair I will never waste my time straightening my hair again. I can now spend just minutes with a little styling products and my hair looks great! My hair is the not too curly, not straight and can be just plain frizzy. Thanks to Ethan I have finally found the perfect hair style that is great for my naturally curly hair.

Go see Willow for color. She is a master and is very passionate about her work. She also makes it a point to have a good time while working on you. I live in Cedar Park and don't mind going to the location now, and I won't mind going further South, when they move. This place is totally worth their prices. I always leave there feeling refreshed and in a great mood.

I get soooooo many wonderful things said about my hair. The blonde is perfect, the cut is fabulous.
I used to pay twice as much for Mark Thomas at bob, and she is hands down way better!

I started going to Emily for my brizillian waxes this summer and have never been in and out of a place so quickly and painlessly. She is amazing!

I came into Anne Kelso for a massage, and was treated to my most amazing massage experience ever. That is saying something, because I've had a lot of massage all over the world. I was booked with Sally, who immediately made me feel at ease. She asked a some general and then specific questions, and I could tell that she was totally focused on giving me what I wanted (and needed). I could write forever about how awesome the massage was, in short, not only was the pressure perfect, but her hands and her manner were warm, confident, and intuitive. There were actually times when I couldn't tell where her hands ended and my body began. After the massage Sally met me at the door with a glass of water, and took a few moments to discuss areas that she felt a lot of tension, even showing me a stretch I can do at home. She gave me her card, but wasn't too pushy about booking. I'll be back, and often!

I hadn't been to Anne Kelso in 5 years, (I got highlights for my wedding and was happy with the results), but after my wedding, a friend of mine starting doing my hair. Well, I wanted to explore so I tried multiple salons around Austin, only to receive mediocre cuts and highlights. Well I decided to go back to Anne Kelso and was scheduled with Rachel . She listened to what I wanted and did an AWESOME job! My hair is blonde, so she gave me bright blonde highlights and left my natural dark blonde hair as the lowlights. She cut my hair into long layers that look great! I highly recommend her-you won't be disappointed.

If you're looking for the luxury spa experience (and willing to pay for it), don't go here. AK is low on frills , but their people know what they're doing. They are moving soon down south to a new location that i hear will be spectacular, but for now they are doing what they can in their space. The essential pedicure by Pam is great. She is pleasant and does a good job. They only charge you between $30-35 for what ends up being 45 mins of pedi time. So what that they dont have the most luxurious accomodations at their present location? I'd rather have a good pedi for less money, but that's just me!

Not a very good or suitable cut but color was lovely. Unfortunately,I was 'encouraged' to buy a lot of product that I didn't want or like. The salon graciously booked me a complimentary "bangs trim" to discuss the problem with the cut. I was told that it wasn't the cut but that I wasn't using enough styling product. The result was that my hair looked and felt like a brillo pad, not soft , silky, and, most importantly, touchable, as I had requested. I'll continue to try to work this out with the salon.

I've always been nervous when approaching a stylist's chair. Most take my curly hair, give me a straight cut and then blow my curls out leaving me with a high maintenance style. Immediately upon sitting in Ethat's chair I felt at ease. He really knows curly hair and gave me the absolute best hair cut I have ever recieved. I've fallen in love with my curls and rarely straighten my hair. Thank you Ethan. You seriously rock.

This salon was recommended so I decided to try the "SPA" pedicure and manicure since I am expecting a baby. The "SPA" pedicure consisted of a tub of lukewarm water with me sitting in a regular old chair. The girl was coughing and telling me she had been sick. She was in a hurry because she started 25 minutes late because someone didn't give her my paperwork and I sat in the lobby all this time. Amazingly she made her next appointment on time! The manicure was basically just applying polish. I have never had such poor quality on either- I had to go somewhere else to have it redone 3 days later. I thought about calling the manager but do I really want to go back there? 100.00 wasted. The hair cuts I have gotten have always been good but there is really no SPA to this place!

my hair was completely lacking any form of style and some friends had recommended anne kelso as the place to get it cut. I called up asking for some for a cut and some style help, and they told me they would set me up with a Willow, a stylist good with mens hair. Bottom line, Willow rocks. She listened to my needs and came up with a great style on the spot that could function with my life. Plus, she's a freaking riot. I've never had that much fun getting a haircut. the price was relatively inexpensive for a salon haircut and the service was amazing. awesome place. they've hooked this customer for good. thanks willow!

I've lived in Austin for about 1 1/2 years and have been bouncing from mediocre stylist to mediocre stylist. I saw the reviews on this website and gave them a call. To start, the receptionist was incredibly helpful and recommended a stylist in my price range. I got stuck in traffic on my way there and was about 10 minutes late, but the staff and my stylist were still super friendly. I went in with hair to my shoulder blades and was looking for something short, spunky, and unique. A new me, if you will. Willow let her creativity fly and I walked out with the best cut I think I've ever gotten EVER!!! I will definitely be back for her and their other services and would highly recommend the salon to anyone. =)

I recently moved to Austin and needed to find a place to get my haircut. Being a poor grad student, I said I wanted a cheaper haircut (they offer haircuts from $30-$60). The stylist they assigned me to (Tamra) was really good and listed to how I wanted my hair cut. She did a great job and I love what she did. The atmosphere is good and everyone I had contact with was very nice. I would highly recommend this place for someone who is looking for a stylist. I am definitely going back.

The staff is great and very friendly. They have gone out of their way to make sure I get what I need before my wedding, waxing, nails, etc. I highly recommend Anne Kelso Salon. The service is awesome.
