Horrible! First of all, I've never been when there wasn't a ridiculously long wait. I've always had to wait about an hour just to get into the room to see the Dr. My friend told me I should go to Cheryl but the Dr. behind her is Marchand

I've been seeing Dr. Marchand since the 80's, when he still had his office out by Lake Travis. I moved to Austin and was having difficulty with the pollen problem everyone that moves here experiences. Having a history of asthma &

So today, July 11, 2011, I had my appointment...I went and saw Cyndi Gardner...I have anxiety about starting a new career and wanted something to take the edge off...so I was explaining to her my anxiety and she was so uninterested...like

As for Dr. Marchand, the bottom line is money. If you have a prescription that requires extra paperwork from him, he refuses to do it. During one of life's upheavals, I made an appointment thinking maybe perhaps an anti-depressant

All I can say is this place does not provide good quality care. The notion of patient care comes last not first. Like the previous review stated, they do not know how to return phone calls despite leaving messages. They are great at making excuses and when you finally make it to the doctor's office, the phsyican will practically boot you out the door. The women at the check out counter have no respect for the person standing in front of them. They would rather discuss business in front of the customer rather than assess their needs first. So, if you desire poor quality care, no returned calls, and poor service visit the Clinic on Westagate.

I went to see Dr. Marchand because I read on his website that he did the LEAP nutritional therapy. He told me the test was pretty much worthless. He kept talking over me so I couldn't explain what problems I was having. He even used the word "alleged" pertaining to my Rheumatoid Arthritis which I have had for 10 years and with a positive blood test. I waited for him for 50 minutes. I left very disappointed!

Dr. Marchand is hands down the best family doctor I've had. I am deaf and was looking for a doctor that knows sign language. I was surprised how good he was at signing and at reading my signs. He is also very thoughtful and makes sure that I do not pay for appointments that I do not really need. I would strongly recommend this office -- the nurses are very compassionate and kind. They are always willing to make an effort to communicate with me either through sign language or on paper.

Pros: Compassionate, thoughtful, many staff know sign language/signs

Cons: Average 15-30 minute wait in lobby

Dr. Marchand has been our family doctor, caring for myself, my husband, daughter, and son for more than 15 years. He is professional, caring, personable, and a good listener. He is an excellent diagnostician and works with you to find treatments and medications that are successful in maximizing your health. The whole family thinks he is great and we've recommended him to many other folks. His physician assistant, Cheryl, is someone we adore. She is also a great listener, personable, funny, and caring. Call in the morning and we can usually get an appointment with Cheryl the same day. An appointment with Dr. Marchand may be the same day but will definitely be within a day or two. Have a legitimate need for a referral, tests, physical therapy? Not a problem. The nurses and office people at South Austin Family Practice are also wonderful; many have been with Dr. Marchand for many years, a testament to his "great doctor, great guy" status. They make us comfortable and make us feel welcome--like extended family. I would--and do--trust these people with my children's health. That should say it all.

Dr. Marchand is an example to the men and women calling themselves Doctors all over. Dr. Marchand had no problem with my meds needs, even helping me with as much as he could do to save me money. After my insurance expires he said I could continue to see him for a reasonable amout 35$! He is a nice man, talked kindly about his wife and kids and is the best MD for family practice I have seen in Austin. Highly recommended.
