I only signed up here to defend the place against the other review.
It certainly sounds like a bad situation and bad customer service that was described in the other review.
I can only say that I have been there many times without those sorts of disputes.
I am a white man who speaks very little Spanish.
They can probably see me a mile away when they see my Nissan Rogue parking outside.
But I can tell you that I have never felt taken advantage of.
The counter clerk usually switches to English when I check out even though he/she wouldnt need to. The items you buy are scanned in and displayed on a screen just like any other grocery store you would go to.

I have bought groceries there many times as they have hard-to-find mexican items including fresh (often still warm) tortillas, and always ripe avocados.

But most of the time I go there for the tacos. There are many varieties but I usually go for the "carnitas" (pork).
They are served simply with corn tortillas, cilantro, and onions. The best way if you ask me. The salsas are great too.
Don't be scared by the location or the majority clientele.
I have never felt unwelcomed or cheated here. Great secret place for Mexican food.

Pros: Good store, good bread, great tacos

Cons: Not a huge place, not too much English

My husband and I went to the Azteca meat market on a saturday , we were planning on making a mexican meal and thought it would be taste better if the ingridients were from a mexican store. Everything seemed ok, then we got to the register where we werent greet with a smile but instead we were charged for merchandise that we didnt purchased at all. we realised that after we got in the car and checked the receipt. My husband went back to get credit back for the items the appeared to have been charged to us but that we didnt have with us. when he explains the problem to the cashier expecting an apology instead he was called a liar by the cashier who said she havent seen him at all that day and refused to credit him back . Finally my husband asked for the manager who ended up sending my husband to get the groceries back to the store in a very rude manner (and instead of sending one of their employee to go get them), seeing this i went back with my husband to the store where they were refusing to help him JUST because he was mad at them! after arguing with them for 30 min. I finally got them to give me my money back and returned all the merchandise back to the store. The manager ended up being THE OWNER!
I always heard that they do stuff like that, charge you for things you are not buying not even taking with you, we went there because we tought it would make our food taste more authentic, but now i'd rather go to a friendly place were I am being treated with respect and cuortusy from employers and managers. IF YOU GO TO THI STORE MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE YOU STEP OUT OF THE STORE!!!!! THEY WOULD CHARGE YOU FOR THINGS YOU ARE NOT BUYING! AND CALL YOU A LIAR WHENEVER YOU REALIZED WHAT HAS BEEN DONE TO YOU! DONT EXPECT AN APOLOGY OR A THANK YOU FOR YOUR BUSSINESS WHEN YOU GO!
I WORK WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE AND I KNOW MY RIGHTS AS A CONSUMER AND THEY SURE DONT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO OWN/ MANAGE A BUSSINESS.
