.

Dr. Skoglund has been my psychiatrist for over five years. He was the first to accurately diagnose my disorder and provide the treatment I needed to improve my mental well-being. I have the utmost respect for him and am never disappointed with my visits. He makes you feel very comfortable and is understanding no matter what you tell him.

He responds quickly to any questions about medications and is very helpful in finding the correct med(s) you need. Unlike the above reviewer, I have not found him to let you leave without the information you need regarding your med(s). Further, he will often give you sample kits so you don't have to spend money on a prescription before you know whether or not the med(s) work for you.

In addition, his staff are very kind, great to talk to while you wait and quickly respond to requests for refills, etc.

I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Pros: Great listener, responsive, caring, fast service, interested

Cons: Does not take insurance (but will help you get reimbursed)

I have been seeing psychiatrists for over 20 years now and had many experiences. Dr. Skoglund is probably the second best Ive ever had. (The 1st best moved to mexico). He has a small practice, keeps his overhead low, thus keeping his fees relativley low by comparison to other psychiatrists. He does not take insurance.(I do have to mention the drawback of how mutch he charges for after hour calls, as mutch as an appointment but if you keep the call breef theres no charge...... BUT he ALWAYS calls back within an hour of calling the medical exchange.). He has always been very personable and kind to me. He will often keep you in his office longer than your time slot, but wont charge for the extra time. In otherwords he doesent rush you out. He is a good listener and seems to care about your general welfare...he has always treated me like a human being not some medication robot. He listens to my mediaction needs and is interested in making sure we find the right one for ME and my tolerance levels... not what the pharmacutical reps try to hock to him. He is very patient with medication issues and doesent just give up on you or treat you badly if you disagree with him. In other words he doesent act like hes God, and doesent punish you like other psychiatrists can. He doesent do Therapy but he does have a long list of therapists he recomends. He doesent make you have a therapist along with seeing him but he does encourage it. The only draw back is somtimes he will put you on a medication and just sort of "let ya go" with it....not really explaining what turmoil might come with going on or tapering off a med. This may be just my experience as he knows ive been of psych meds for 20 years and he may just assume I know what Im doing. The plus is he understands how Benzos work and wont just yank them from you.

All and all hes the first doc to really figure out whats "wrong" and find what works for me.
