Ratings_icons Dr. Hardwick-Smith: Compassionate, Knowledgeable, Supportive

jessicabc

I recently went to Dr. Hardwick-Smith for a non-pregnancy health issue, She spent a great deal of time talking with me, was supportive and encouraging, and made sure I would get the very best care possible. Her response time on getting procedures scheduled was exceptional, too.

It was easy to get an appointment, the offices are beautiful and peaceful, the staff is kind and friendly, and Dr. Hardwick-Smith's assistant is exceptional.

I wish I had found Dr. Hardwick-Smith earlier for my first pregnancy, and I am so very grateful to be in her care now.

Pros: Very generous with her time, delightful, truly caring

Cons: None

Ratings_icons Wonderful Doctor

I found Dr. Hardwick-Smith to be an excellent OB-GYN. I was pregnant with my first child when I went to Dr. Hardwick-Smith. Throughout the entire pregnancy she always displayed the utmost in care. She always went out of her way for me, she always returned all my phone calls, and I never had to ask her twice.

Her staff was always friendly, efficient, and always responsive to anything I needed. My test results were even quickly acknowledged, usually within a couple days.

Dr. H-S encouraged me to stay as active as possible during the pregnancy and gave me confidence to continue living an athletic lifestyle. Her famous line to me was, ?Only stop if you don?t feel comfortable, but don?t let being pregnant get in the way.? I believe her positive attitude and constant encouragement to stay physically active ensured my pregnancy went smooth as possible and my post partum recovery was super fast, and within a few days I was back to doing cardio.

On the day of my son?s delivery, a Saturday morning before Christmas, Dr. H-S came in on her own time to deliver the baby. Something she did not have to do. She personally called the hospital the day before I was admitted to set everything up, and made sure we had the best room and staff available. She even called me three times while I was in the room to make sure everything was OK.

Dr. H-S made my delivery so easy. I know it is not ?easy,? but she really spoiled us with her care and attention. We really love Dr. H-S and cannot imagine having another doctor.

Pros: Outstanding care

Ratings_icons Best OB, Best Care

Carolk

During my pregnancy i was under the care of Dr Susan Hardwick-Smith. I have to say that she was very friendly, professional, caring and the perfect OB. I went in to preterm labour at 33 weeks so had quite alot of visits to the CWCC. Each visit was a positive experience, everyone was friendly, helpful, polite and very good at the their jobs!!! My care was always of the highest standard! Other Drs in the centre were also friendly and helpful during my pregnancy. My delivery was a little difficult but i knew i was being taken care by the very best. I was always reasurred that everything was being done to keep my baby and I safe! I will continue to use the centre and of course Dr Hardwick Smith. Thank you all at the CWCC, you all contributed to my care and deserve praise and thanks!!! Keep up the good work!

Pros: Professional, friendly and committed

Ratings_icons Compassionate Care during difficult time

linuslady

I have to get in the habit about commenting on positive occurrences rather than just the bad ones. My treatment by Dr. Hardwick-Smith and her staff (Brandi, etc) was exceptional. I had a very difficult situation which I had to deal with and I really felt like they were with me every step of the way. I am a scientifically-minded emotional woman. Therefore, I am a difficult patient to please...I want all of the facts, cutting-edge equipment, science reasoning, etc while at the same time I need a warm approach, care, compassion, and empathy. I got it all from Dr. Hardwick-Smith and her team. They were not only my doctors on my journey...they were my partners.

Pros: Intelligence, Compassion, Cleanliness, Modern

Ratings_icons Dr. Jurney and her staff are wonderful

CEA2009

Dr. Jurney was responsible for my care during a very difficult and unexpected pregnancy. From my first appointment at CWCC, I felt like a priority. Dr. Jurney comforted me when delivering difficult news and made sure I understood everything ahead. My husband and I felt that she got to know us personally, and helped us through a difficult 9 months. After several months of seeing her weekly, we delivered a healthy baby because of her termendous care. Everyone on her staff and everyone in the office could not have been more compassionate. I feel very blessed to have found this doctor and this practice. I could not have asked for anything. In fact, I feel a little sad that I will not be seeing them weekly anymore now that my pregnancy is over! I reccomend this practice to anyone who will listen.

Ratings_icons From a man's perspective...

chibrsfan

I wanted to write this from a husband's perspective, which actually gives a good look in to the operations of the office and the treatment one receives.

I am extremely lucky that I was able to accompany my wife on every visit during the pregnancy of our first baby. We were referred to "Compete Women's Care Center" by a friend, and it ended up being the best choice we have made in a long time. From the first visit, I, yes "I" the husband, felt extremely happy with the treatment of my wife and the care that the doctors, especially Dr. Hardwick-Smith gave her. This child is my first, and even though my wife carried her, I felt incredibly nervous until I walked through the double glass-doors in to a warm, welcoming environment.

From the first visit until the last, we were treated to an incredible journey of affection and kindness, which I believe affected the entire pregnancy. Brandi was amazing, Dr. Jurney was amazing, Dr. Beard was amazing, but most of all Dr. Hardwick-Smith.

I wasn't even pregnant, I wasn't the patient, but I felt like we connected with the doctors at CWCC on an equal level, almost like after the visit we could all go and "hang out together". Dr. Hardwick-Smith gave enormous effort to making sure that we were comfortable, including through the entire labor-phase. We had a semi-complication, and she put it all out on the table and made us entirely comfortable with what we faced. She wasn't even supposed to be on that shift, but she made sure that she was there when we needed her most.

Yes, there may be a wait at some point in the office, but have you ever stopped to think, "why"? Would you rather have your Doctor, who has seen you on so many occasions and knows you and your body personally, in the office seeing patients at an incredible rate, or with you on your most "special" day? I would easily wait 2+ hours on every "regular" visit, just to have Dr. Hardwick-Smith constantly overseeing my wife's and daughter's well-being on the delivery day. She was there constantly, filling us in, allowing us to understand all the changes. It was an incredible experience.

My wife and I looked forward to every visit, and of course, the baby and her development was the emphasis, but the knowledge that CWCC exhibited was amazing, and now we have an extremely happy baby girl that benefited from a well-kept pregnancy.

I understand that this is a strange view, but I think that having some one see the progression from an outside perspective is a definite plus, especially when that someone is so emotionally involved.

As long as we live, and as long as my friends and family ask us for recommendations, we will send them to CWCC. I feel we are so lucky to find such a professional group, and I am so lucky that I was able to experience every visit and the entire term of the pregnancy.

Yes, I am a man, a husband, a father. I am so proud of my daughter and my wife. I was lucky to experience this wonderful event, and if I had to do it over again, I would change nothing. We owe so much to CWCC, and I feel like our debt can never be repaid. I hope you give them a chance, it was the best decision (besides having a daughter!) that we have ever made!

J, K, and A

Pros: Felt at home, actually enjoyed the "visit"

Cons: Absolutley none....

Ratings_icons Outstanding service and care!

supermomanddad

Dr. Hardwick-Smith, Dr. Jurney, Pam, Brandi, and the other nurses and staff from CWCC have been taking exceptional care of me since I came in for my first appointment when I was 6 weeks pregnant.

Although they've worked with so many patients over the years, they were still excited and happy for us when the ultrasound scan revealed that my husband and I were going to have a healthy little bundle of joy in 9 months. At 39 weeks, Dr. Hardwick-Smith and Dr. Jurney helped me deliver a healthy beautiful baby that was unfortunately breech. I wasn't even nervous in the OR because they had assembled such a proficient medical team to perform the C-section. The birth and delivery went beautifully, and the doctors let me admire and bond with my baby right away. As a mother herself, Dr. Hardwick-Smith gave me the insight and understanding I needed when I was feeling overwhelmed with pain and fatigue in the hospital. I had a really rough night one night when the night nurse that was on duty at the hospital forgot to check up on me and administer my next dosage of pain medication. In fact, all the nurses and medical techs were wonderful except that ONE nurse and ONE of the head nurses (that was on duty that night who was not helpful). When Dr. Hardwick-Smith came in to check on me that morning, I was an emotional wreck and extremely fatigued. She was sincerely concerned and knew just how to make me fell better immediately. She waited in the room with us while my husband looked up the phone number of the pharmacy near our house so she could call in the prescription for my pain medication herself. It was there and waiting for us to pick up on the way home from the hospital.

I really admire how Dr. Hardwick-Smith oversees such a remarkable and compassionate practice with all of these amazing professionals while raising a family of her own. I am happy and appreciative of the relationship I have with my doctor. CWCC is the best OB/GYN practice in Houston!

Pros: Professional, friendly, and caring

Cons: The office is busy

Ratings_icons Compassionate care from outstanding professionals

MZCook

I have never been one to write reviews like this, but given some of the negative reviews I have read below, I feel absolutely compelled to provide my perspective. My husband and I had the most wonderful experience being attended by the Complete Women's Care Center, and Dr Susan Hardwick-Smith in particular. Having a full term, healthy baby was quite a journey for us...two miscarriages before success. Dr Hardwick-Smith and all her staff provided us all the professional and emotional support that we needed during all this time. They consistently made themselves available via phone and via appointment at short notice, as needed. Dr Hardwick-Smith instilled complete confidence regarding her ability and skill, but at the same time showed compassion and wasn't dismissive when we showed our fears about achieving a healthy, full term pregnancy. She willingly offered every test and exam both after miscarriage and during our successful pregnancy to ensure our fears were allayed. We have full confidence in this practice and have referred a number of friends who have also only had positive experiences. Don't hesitate.

Pros: Quality Proferssionals and Staff

Cons: None

Ratings_icons Great experience

lisamanda22

I began seeing Dr. Hardwick-Smith in 2003. She came highly recommended by several co-workers. From my first visit with her, I was impressed with the care I received. After testing during my first visit, Dr. Hardwick-Smith called me herself to relay the test results to me. The results were not devastating, but I greatly appreciated her taking the time to speak with me and answer my questions. When I became pregnant for the first time last year, her staff was equally impressive in their OB care. The entire process, beginning with the first ultrasound with Brandi, the nurse practitioner, through the post-partum care, I had all questions answered and each step explained to me. With each visit, I felt that my baby and I were receiving the best care. Dr. Hardwick-Smith, Brandi, and the nurses all shared in our excitement in the development of our baby. They were also conscious to include my husband in conversations and answer his questions. I did not feel rushed during any of the visits, and even had minimum waiting time for almost all appointments. I had some concerns post-partum, and the staff did not hesitate to see me and check to be sure that all was okay. During one of these visits, I also met with Dr. Beard. Although she was new to the practice, I didn't sense any less competency or professionalism. She was easy to talk with and addressed all of my concerns. As an added bonus, during one of my post-partum visits, the office was having a "customer appreciation day," complete with a coffee bar and snacks. I've never experienced such personal care in any other physician's office and would not hesitate to recommend anyone to the Complete Women's Care Center.

Ratings_icons Caring, Compassionate, and First Class Service all in one

JRhusband

My wife and I were in search of an OB/GYN group in Houston. One that could provide great service and the best quality of care. We asked all of our friends and neighbors that were expecting or had a child. Well, we heard a lot of positive experiences about Dr. Hardwick-Smith's group. We decided to give it a shot and set up an appointment. We were not disappointed. It was the first time in a physician's office that I didn't feel rushed or like I was in some sort of cattle call.

The nursing staff took their time and LISTENED!!! Imagine that. They took their time and allowed us (first timers) to ask all the questions in the world...like "what foods should I avoid eating? and how much weight should I expect to gain?" and the classic man question..."when can we have s*x?" :)

Then came Dr. Hardwick-Smith. She is a very caring and compassionate physician that took her time with any follow up questions that we saved specifically for her. She made us feel at ease with the entire process. She changed a scary process into one that we could really enjoy and look forward to each day. We are very appreciative of all her efforts and those of her staff.

Pros: Warm, Caring, Compassionate, Unbelievable access to physicians

Cons: none

Ratings_icons Best ob I have ever been to

dmj100

Dr. Susan Hardwick Smith is the best OB I have ever been to and I highly reccommend her as a docotr. She is extremely smart, professional and approachable. I feel it an honor that she delivered both my children. She came up on Mothers day to check on me and the baby. Most docs would have sent someone else. Her PA (brandi) and nurses (Virginia and the red head) are a great addition as well. Dr. Jurney is awesome too. I haven't met Dr. Beard or June but my friends say they are great too. Dr. H-S truly cares about her patients. I wish she could be my doctor for everything!

Pros: everything

Cons: nothing

Ratings_icons Love Dr. Hardwick-Smith and CWCC!

DSMay

I have been a patient of Dr. Susan Hardwick-Smith since 1999 and she has delivered all 4 of my children. She is such a caring and competent physician and I felt like she really took the time to get to know me. I have never forgotten when she personally returned my call when I was living out of state and planning to return to TX and needed an appointment because I was pregnant with my second child- small touches like that were really special. The staff of CWCC, particularly Brandi (NP) and Pam are great! Truly, I cannot give enough thanks to Pam who answered several of my calls and always offered reassurance! In 2008, after my 4th baby was born- he had to be taken to the NICU. I was very upset, in part because I was not informed of what was going on by the hospital staff. The next day, when Dr. Hardwick-Smith came by my room to check on me, I told her that I was upset about how things had been handled the night before at the hospital. She listened- and not long after our conversation- the hospital administrator came to my room to apologize and find out what had happened. It really meant a lot that Dr. Hardwick-Smith cared enough to do something about my concern- particularly because I had not asked her to do so- I just really felt she went to bat for me. I am just so thankful and fortunate to have Dr. Hardwick-Smith as my doctor for all these years. I would highly recommend her- and in fact I have to several of my friends! And though it takes me almost 2 hours to get to her office in the medical center (yes, I have moved that far away but just can not consider changing doctors!)- all I can say is that it has been well worth it!

Pros: Highly competent & caring doctor and friendly staff!

Cons: Wait time is variable- but that is expected at an OB/GYN's office.

Ratings_icons Highly Recommended OB/Gyn Practice

MommyofAustin

I have been using this clinic since 2003. At the time, I was looking for a practice that was all female, where I felt comfortable with all the physicians in the practice. Dr Hardwick-Smith and Dr Jurney fit what I was looking for perfectly. I was pregnant, and after discussing with Dr H-S my expectations for my delivery, I knew I was in good hands. My pregnancy went well, and my delivery was perfect! I saw both Dr Hardwick-Smith and Dr Jurney during my labor. Their work is amazing! Since my delivery, their practice has grown to include Dr Beard (who I have also met, and have high regard for), as well as 2 Nurse Practitioners. I recently went in for my annual visit, and saw Dr Hardwick-Smith's NP Brandi, who is wonderful as well. I have not met June, Dr Jurney's NP, but everyone in the practice will take the time to listen to your concerns, give you excellent care, and make you feel like a person as opposed to a chart. I have referred both my mother and my sister to this practice, as well as friends. They have all been equally pleased as I have been!

Pros: Physicians and NPs! Beautiful office

Cons: Sometimes a wait, but who can predict when a baby will decide to make his way into the world? I think waits are expected with an OB/Gyn

Ratings_icons Excellent experience for the first time Mom

3allens

I live close to the Woodlands and would rather take the time to drive to the Medical Center to see Dr. Hardwick-Smith than go any where else! I was very nervous as a first time Mom. Dr. Hardwick-Smith, Brandi (her NP) and the staff at CWCC made our first time parent experience absolutely wonderful. The staff was courteous and attentive throughout the entire process. No question was too small for their time and attention (and us first time Mom's can ask quite a few questions). I also had interactions with a couple of the other physicians in the office (Dr. Jurney and Dr. Beard). They were just as wonderful! It was comforting to know that you were in excellent hands no matter what. Delivery day was another nerve racking day for a first time Mom. Dr. Hardwick-Smith, once again, proved to be nothing less than wonderful. The care and compassion did not stop just because you delivered. My cell phone rang about 2 weeks after we were home and I noticed it was the doctor's office. I thought...oh they are calling to setup my 6 week appointment...Instead, it was Dr. Hardwick-Smith calling to personnally check on me and our new little one. WOW! Going to my 6 week follow up appointment felt like going to show family our new little one. Everyone was so excited to see her after watching me grow over the past 9 months. I highly recommend using Dr. Hardwick-Smith and CWCC for any of your OB or GYN needs. And for those nervous first time Mom's like me... you only want the best....well, this is the place!

Pros: Wonderful Doctor, excellent care, great staff

My experience at the CWCC was 100% positive. Before my 1st 7 week prenatal appt I experienced some bleeding. Brandi (Dr Hardwick-Smith's nurse practitioner) got me in to see her in just a couple of hours. She eased my fears and patiently answered all my questions through my tears. The next day she personally called to give me my lab results and patiently answered all my questions again.

A few days later on a Friday night I started bleeding again. Dr Jurney was on call and she was very sympathetic and caring. I knew there was nothing to do but wait but she did not make me feel bad at all for calling her on a Friday night. Any time I had an issue, it was easy to get in contact with the nurse.

At all my prenatal appointments with Dr Hardwick-Smith and Brandi, I felt as if I was their only patient. They kept me and my husband informed on everything and helped us make decisions along the way. Their bedside manner is wonderful...As a nurse, I KNOW good bedside manner! They took their time to answer all our questions and never made us feel rushed. They took the time to ask how I was feeling and really cared about the answer! At my delivery, Dr Hardwick-Smith was so calm, professional and caring. I really trusted her with the care of myself and my baby. And all the labor and delivery nurses there talked about how great she is!

I cant say enough good things about Dr Hardwick-Smith and her staff. I wouldn't go anywhere else and I highly recommend them.

Pros: caring, professional ataff, great bedside manner

Ratings_icons My experiences were truly amazing

elizabethbiar

I have seen Dr. Hardwick-Smith for over 7 years now. I have 4 children, including fraternal twin boys that were born in May 2008. Dr. Hardwick-Smith has cared for me in all healthcare situations -- from cervical dysplasia to infertility to the surprise pregnancy later on of twins! She has taken an interest in my emotion well-being as well as physical. On top of being a fantasitc ob and gyn doctor, I developed serious pneumonia while 18 weeks pregnant with my twins. I was checked into Memorial Hermann for 1 week. The care I recieved from Dr. Hardwick-Smith (and Dr. Jurney) was amazing. After that ordeal, an ultrasound revealed the twins might both have Down's Syndrome. Again, Dr. Hardwick-Smith was there for me emotionally and physically. When I was scared to death of the c-section, Dr. Hardwick-Smith's bedside manner was uncomparable and extremely caring and kind. She has been involved in my life for years now. I would not ever consider changing doctors. Her nurses, including her Nurse Practitioner Brandi, are caring, compassionate and very competent. Dr. Hardwick-Smith truly is the best of the best. Anyone that has her as their ob/gyn caregiver can rest easy knowing they are in the best hands possible.

Pros: She has 3 children of her own. She understands infertility and high-risk pregnancies from her own personal experience. Her medical knowledge is vast.

Ratings_icons part two: Laser Vag Rejuvenation with Dr Susan Hardwick Smith

PranayamaMama

Sorry...had to teach a class......So, I was saying that my arduous research was rewarded when I found a website that referred to Dr. Hardwick Smith, who turned out to be a real gem! This is the kind of woman/wife/mother you want to have doing such a sensitive procedure as this kind of personal corrective work! Her candor about my expected discomfort level was spot-on, and her before and after pictures of anatomical and functional improvements left NO questions unanswered! Smart and unhurried, articulate as well as a good listener, Dr. Hardwick resonated with me as the best choice for the job I had in mind. Her super -competent LVR Consultant/ Practice Administrator Nora G organized my out -of -state complications with professional finesse, sensitivity, and an amazing anticipation of details. ..even gave me her cell phone number for after hours calls!! The atmosphere at CWCC is cetainly one of the highest standards of caring professionalism; I was so impressed. (ps: the walls of the wait salon as well as the interiors are covered with art of the most loving, beautiful examples of strong femininity, echoing the real tone of what I experienced there.) Pam and Jennifer and the accessable doctors on staff are the kind of support people you want to have as your mentors as you navigate your health changes. They are the kind of women we want our daughters to emulate. And, it feels like they could be the kind of girlfriends you would want to share chocolate with on a hard day!

If you need LVR, do your homework. Get your research straight and set up a consultation with some smart questions. Be picky, be clear, and be nice. Dr. Hardwick Smith is too good to just let me come back up here without another follow-up, so I will be flying back to Texas again next month. But I like that kind of perfectionism....it makes for the best of results, and that's what I wanted.

Pros: excellent experience

Cons: none

I am VERY surprised at any negative review for Sara Jurney!!!! She delivered my son 7yrs ago. I was young and the pregnancy was a bit of a surprise. I credit Sara for being not only an amazing doctor but, a friend. She was there for me every step of the way, right down to the very last moment. I couldn't have asked for a more gentle and compassionate doctor to guide me thru the most amazing experience of my life!!!! I not only trust her with my body, emotions, and baby, I trust her enough to have refered several of my friends to her. I hope any one reading these reviews will take in consideration that some people are just simply NEVER pleased and will go to great lengths to make sure EVEYO

I have nothing but sincere respect and admiration for Dr. Susan Hardwick-Smith!
When I met her in 1999, I knew I had struck gold. Her genuine concern and decision-making on my behalf enabled me to relax during my pregnancy and simply enjoy it - without having to have my 'guard up' for fear of bad care. I let her make all the decisions - from when it was time to induce (due to pregnancy-related high b. pressure) to other concerns.

I loved her straight talk! When my b. pressure was taken by her nurse at the time - she noted that sitting up it would high, while laying on my left side would cause it to be normal. The nurse told Dr. Hardwick-Smith something like "it's normal when she lays on her left side" ... to which Dr. HS responded "Yeah, well if we could go through life lying on our left side, that would be great, but we can't..." She then explained how it would be in my baby's best interest to stay at the hospital and be induced. I was already 37 weeks and my baby was full term. (Wasn't that a great line? "If we could go through life lying on our left side..." I love that line!)

My daughter was perfectly healthy - and so was I - thanks to Dr. Susan!

... which leads me up to 2008... admittedly, I had gotten lazy in my care and had let years pass without being examined. I was tempted to find an OB/Gyn out by where I live - far Northwest - but something told me to stick with Dr. HS... good thing! She found a large polyp that needed to be removed. Had I gone to anyone else who may have insisted on doing surgery on me, I would have had to frankly tell them that I needed to see my 'real' doc for this! Dr. Susan!

Doctor, if you ever read this, just know that I (along with a lot of Houstonians) feel that you and your practice are the best Houston has to offer!

Your excellent care and exceptional decision-making makes shy and apprehensive people like me feel very comfortable and relaxed that we're being treated by the best. Houston is lucky to have you.

Pros: The most intelligent, caring, compassionate, non-rushed practice in Houston

Cons: People who feel that the best isn't worth waiting for in office or by appt.

Ratings_icons Dr. Beard is wonderful!

jgperkins

I am writing this review as someone who doesn't like going to the doctor. I never went to the ob/gyn until I was 23 and newly married. My husband and I made an appointment and were randomly assigned to Dr. Beard. We were scheduled for the next day after we called.

We went in and were able to talk to Dr. Beard about the problem we were having, and she was very compassionate and kind when she listened. I didn't feel rushed or like I was bothering her. When she did the exam, she did it as painless as she could. I mentioned during my exam that my periods were extremely heavy and irregular. Dr. Beard immediately asked me more questions about it, and recommended testing me for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Through several tests and exams, she confirmed the diagnoses. She gave me an information packet about it and answered every question I had about what it was, whether I could still have children, and the new medications I would be taking. When I told her I didn't want to take the birth control pill for religious reasons, she was very nice and said there were other options - she actually worked with me to find a medication I would be ok with taking!

Thanks to Dr. Beard listening to me and discovering this, I am now on a medication that lets me have regular periods and one that helps me lose weight (weight control is related to PCOS). I am very grateful to her for being so patient and compassionate, and I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for an Ob/gyn!

Ratings_icons BEST DOCTOR IN HOUSTON!!!

MandCTX

Dr. Sara Jurney is the greastest Dr. there is. I feel truly blessed to have found her and that she delivered both of my children. She was nothing but kind, considerate and helpful each time we went in. My pregnancies were complicated by HBP and she worked with us so we could deliver two healthy children. I don't believe a word of the other reviews and it saddens me that people might believe them. I would recommend her to anyone and I have!

Ratings_icons response to reviews

sjmd

I am writing to respond to the reviews from the following: 10/28/08 by kellim80, 5/28/08 by boxerchick, and 9/29/08 by BabyBoy8lb9oz. Let me begin by saying that I am greatly surprised and saddened by these reviews. Federal law protecting the confidentiality of patient information constrains me from providing details regarding patient treatment. Out of respect of these rules, and out of respect for these patients, I will not provide a detailed response to the reviews. However, while I have compassion for these patients, the reviews are not accurate. I would not treat patients in such manner. I place the highest priority upon my patients? care and treatment. I have not treated patients rudely or unethically. I believe my record and reputation among both patients and health care professionals bears this out. If these patients would like to contact me personally to discuss their experience, I would be happy to speak with them about it.

Sincerely,
Dr. Sara Jurney

The service here is by far the best of any other doctor (in any field) that I have ever been to. I receive a call back within a few hours any time that I need to leave a message with the nurse, Dr. Hardwick-Smith is very clear and personable, and the facility is very clean. As long as I live in Houston, I will continue to be a patient here.

Pros: Great service, Clean facility

Having a surgery isn't the best thing to do, but when it's in the convenience of your doctors office it much more relaxing. From the nursing staff to how fast the procedure went by it was great. I recommend having this abletion to any women who suffers from heavy, painful bleeding. Dr.Hardwick was great from holding my hand to explaining the whole procedure. Its been two months now and I feel great. Thank you to the surgery team and Dr.Hardwick ... I FEEL GREAT !

I wanted Houston to know that this is a great facility and a great office. I visited this office on several occasions and wanted to thank Dr.Jurney and her office for being so friendly and helpful. I had many concerns and she (Dr.Jurney) answered them very detailed. I would like to thank her nurse for being so educated to start this process of my wonderful care and the front desk for creating such a warm and inviting atmosphere. Everyone made me feel so comfortable considering the level of concern I had with my medical issues. THANKS AGAIN COMPLETE WOMENS CARE CENTER !!

Ratings_icons Great Doc but....

christy1278

I wanted to write a review on Complete Women's Care Center because I loved my doctor there. I was new to the practice so I was scheduled with Dr. Lisa Beard and let me say I was so impressed with her. She took her time with me, answered any and all of my questions and then explained her process and what she does as a doctor. I loved her! Her nurses were sweet and very personable too.
Unfortunately it went down hill from there. After my visit I was sent over to get lab work done and had to wait which was fine, I know I am not their only patient. While I was waiting is where I got to see a whole other side to the office. I sat on a little couch outside the lab next to an office of a lady who played her voicemail on her speaker phone while her door was open, and then she called a few people back on speaker phone so that the entire world could hear. Then she called and called and called a busy number what had to have been 100 times until she got through, all on speaker. It gets better; she called a lady by the name of Crystal about 10 times and again all on speaker. I could not believe it! This office is so nice, very upscale and then when you are taken to the back and it all changes. But here is the kicker of them all. Now when I am waiting to check out, this same women (I now can only figure is the office manager) tells the front desk girl that if she can not get people checked in faster she will take her chair away so that when she does it standing up it will motivate her to move faster. I can tell you all of us waiting that day was embarrassed for that little girl and shocked at the level of unprofessionalism of that lady. That lady had no regard for anyone but herself!!! I do not like those types of people and I do not feel I should pay a practice that pays a lady to embarrass and harass employees, which means now I will have to find another doc and that makes me sad. It?s a shame because Dr Beard and her staff was great!

Pros: Dr Beard

Cons: Office Manager

Ratings_icons The REAL real truth... Still the best ob/gyns

mommy10

I logged on here to write a great review of my doctor and all I can say is wow! I can't believe anyone would say anything negative about this office, I have been a patient here for years and have never had a bad experience. I love my doctor and have spent plenty of time in the office since I have had 2 babies with her. They are certainly very busy since they are so popular and the wating room is usually hopping, but I have never waited more than 30 minutes and have been happy to do so. The waiting room is lovely and the front desk staff have always been pleasant and efficient. I am sure the receptionist must have a bad day sometimes ,unfortunately it sounds like the comments below reflect one of those days. It's sad since these are obviously very unusual events and readers may get the wrong impression. I feel like the nurses treat me like a friend, they know each patient personally after a while and it seem so comfortable and warm. Now 2 years after my last baby I went recent for an annual exam and they still remember me, ask about my family and job, ask to see my baby pictures... you can just tell they really care. I have seen Dr HS's nurse practitioner Brandi several times and she is lovely, and can see patients the same day if you can't get in to see the doctor. Incidentally I was there the week after the hurricane and they were obviously very short staffed. I could not believe they were even open, Dr. HS told me that none of the doctors had power and they all still came in to see their patients, even though they had no nurses and only one receptionist. Anyone who would complain about the level of service they got that week is crazy! These ladies are super dedicated and I guess you can't please everyone but I would venture to guess that 99% of their patients would rave about them, but there is always that 1% that you can't please. Unfortunately that 1% always makes the most noise and good news doesn't spread as fast as bad, sad but true.

Pros: Great doctors, staff that knows who you are

Cons: Med center traffic, nothing else

If you are looking for caring docs this is the place to be. I was referred to Complete by my sister who said that Dr. Hardwick was amazing, she has seen her for 5 years. The day i wanted to come in she was in surgery but I was offered to see Dr.Beard. I was leary as my sister really spoke highly of Dr.Hardwick, but my experience with Dr.beard was wonderful she is so caring and listened to me she didnt rush me out of the room as most doctors do. I love that she took time out of her busy schedule to hold my hand ! THANK YOU ... I had to brag on my new doc...

equestrian74

My first experience with Complete Womens Care couldn't have been better. My appt started on time and Dr. Hardwick-Smith was kind, compassionate and spent a fair amount of time with me.

When I became pregnant, I called and made another appointment. Unfortunately, my appointment fell in the week after the Hurricane. When I called to see if the office was open, the recorded message said it was not open. All week, that message was left up even though the office was open. When i finally became desperate to talk with a human, I chose the leave a message with the answering system operator. Suprisingly, the receptionist answered the phone and when I told her about the message left on the phone, she dismissed it as me calling when the office was closed. When I told her I called several times a day at various times, she outright said that wasn't the case. I was shocked and disappointed by the attitude. I asked when i could come in to get an appointment and she put me on hold for 20 minutes. I hung up thinking she forgot me. I called back the next day to try and get a different receptionist and an appointment. I got an appointment, but it was scheduled two weeks out. The appointment was later cancelled by the office because Dr. Hardwick-Smith was going to be in surgery. I asked to make another appointment for my first OB appointment and the receptionist said that Dr. H-S does not see her new OB people anyway, it was the Nurse Practitioner who would be seeing me and she didn't know why I was scheduled with Dr. H-S in the first place. So, I asked to come in my appointment day to see the NP and she said the next available appointment would be another 5 weeks!!!!!!! I will be 14 weeks pregnant by then and have never seen a doctor. I told the receptionist that I was not ok with that because I have had daily bleeding and she just said she was sorry, but that is the next available appointment. I am scared and feel abandoned by this group.

Pros: If you can get an appointment, there is little wait time

Cons: Office staff, lack of communication between staff and patients, no appts available in a reasonable time

I just finished my first round of acne treatments with the Isolaz laser and I can't believe how great my face looks! I have tried every treatment in the book and this really works. I first read about this laser in Vogue about 3 months ago and thought I had to try it and boy am I glad I did! Within 3 treatments my skin looked so much better! The aesthetician here is very good at explaining the treatments and what to expect and she was right! I loved that she did not over sell with promises that she could not keep. The whole process was painless and very easy. Even the redness from the break-outs are gone! It's amazing! I will be back!

Ratings_icons Dr Sara Jurney is one of a kind!

annettet2

Hi,
I'm a mother of 3 daughters, and Dr Jurney delivered my last baby in 06. She was expecting the same year as me, I remmeber she was back to work at my 6 week check up. There is not enough good things I can say about her,and the staff there. I would like to say her, the staff, and the other doctors were the best I have ever been to. I was in my second trimester when I wanted a different doctor, and I was able to be seen by Dr Jurney. She treated me as if this was my first pregnancy, and took the time to answer all my questions. I never waited for more than 5-10 minutes to be seen. The best part of experience was 6 week visit. I didn't have a sitter so I brought along my 6 week old 4, and 8 year old with me. I really had wanted to start my birth control that day, because I knew how hard it would be to find a sitter for one day. Dr jurney had all the staff help with the girls, and a nurse care for the baby, so I could get my birth control started. She also saved me another copay. There is no other office I have ever been to that would have done that. I have referred several friends, and family to Dr Jurney that were all pleased be their visit. Please go meet the doctors, and decide for your self. I'm a patient of Dr Jurney's since 06.Dr Jurney, and her staff are the best.
Sincerly,
Annette Trevino- a current patient

Pros: very child friendly

Ratings_icons Complete Womens Care Center Great Care Great Doctors

TKO7915

I read these reviews from time to time but really am here to defend my doctor. I started as a new patient approximately 7 years ago. Since then, Complete Womens Care has grown; so yes I have had to wait but I don't mind the wait after all I get great care and trust Dr. Hardwick-Smith with my life. She has always been so caring even taking the time out to answer all my questions even at 4 am. As a new pregnant mommy I was really scared and didnt know what to expect. Dr. Hardwick-Smith took the time out to hold a conversation with me at 4 am. I dont know about you but I am pretty grumpy at 4 am. i really think doctors get taken for granted and people dont realize how hard they really work being on call and having to leave in the middle of the night is definately not something I would do. I have to give two thumbs up for dedicated doctors such as Dr.Hardwick-Smith. Thank you Dr.Hardwick for not being selfish and caring for not only me but hundreds even thousand of people you run across each day..

Pros: Great Docs and Great Care

Ratings_icons Well worth the wait, caring team

bell11

Dr Hardwick-Smith is great and as for the comment below, I for one have no problem waiting for the best doctor in town. I had to wait a few weeks for my first appointment and I thought this was a great sign. The reason why these women have a full waiting room is that everyone wants to see them and for good reason. They really care about their patients, they are smart and thoughtful and treat each patient as an individual. I know if I am waiting it is because Dr Hardwick-Smith is not treating the patient before me like a number and hustling her out the door. Whenever I have extra questions or need more time Dr Hardwick-Smith stays with me until we have completely talked through my problem, and she always ask "is there anything else I can do for you?" before she walks out the door. She never acts rushed or looks at her watch like many other busy doctors. When I am in labor I know she will be there for me and the patients in the office will have to wait. Brandi, her nurse practitioner is wonderful and caring and I have no problem seeing her if Dr. HS is out, they are a great team. As far as I know there are no really popular ob/gyn offices in the country where you don't have to wait at times, that is the nature of the business and if they saw fewer patients you would have to wait for years to get in at all! These ladies are doing a fantastic job, as doctors, business women and mothers, and I am proud to be a patient!

Pros: Caring doctors, treat everyone as an individual

Cons: none

mrs_esquire

I couldn't find a way to delete my review, only edit it. I had a negative experience with Dr. Hardwick-Smith but she has since apologized. I will say this, before settling on a OB/GYN to handle your pregnancy, it'd be best to schedule a meet and greet and go over all of your expectations and birth preferences before you begin care. There is no way to know if it's going to be a good fit unless you have a very detailed visit beforehand. Going by online recommendations is no way to decided on something so important, especially if you are having a baby. The only qualified judge of what you want in a physician and their office is you. Giving birth to a baby is one of those life events that's worth every effort to ensure your happiness.

Ratings_icons Doctor of the Year!!

kimswim

I have been a patient of Dr. Sara Jurney for over 4 years so I was not surprised to learn that she had recently been awarded ?Doctor of the Year?. She is truly an incredible physician and gives her patients nothing but the best care possible. She takes the time to make you feel completely comfortable and diligently answers any and all questions. I never hesitate referring her or Dr. Susan Hardwick-Smith to friends and everyone I have referred has been delighted with their experience. The staff at Complete Women?s Care Center is incredibly helpful and works hard to create a very relaxing environment. I just pulled up their address on Citysearch to refer them to another friend and was appalled at one of the reviews posted below. It?s unfortunate that these extraordinary doctors have to deal with patients like that. I look forward to getting pregnant and continuing my care at Complete Women?s Care Center.

I work at the hospital where Dr. Jurney practices, she has operated on me, I have spent a great deal of time in her office, and I know her personally and work with her closely. Anyone in the area knows that she is one of the best Ob/gyns in Houston. Most of the nurses and doctors at the hospital go to see her which really says something, and she was voted "physican of the year" in 2007 by the staff at the hospital who see her work every day, including at the best and worst moments. I have never met anyone who doesn't love Dr. Jurney, she is just one of those people who gets along with almost everyone, she is an excellent surgeon and highly skilled obstetrician. In regards to some negative comments below, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and there is not a person in the world who is loved by everyone, but I can tell you that Dr. Jurney comes close! This is a woman who has given her life to help people, saves lives regulary, spends time away from her family to care for people she barely knows, and is kind and caring to her patients and hospital staff.

Pros: Caring doctor, friendly staff

Ratings_icons The BEST Complete Women's Care

pickypatient

I want to start by saying if it was not for Dr. Hardwick-Smith I know I would not be living the life I have now. I have had female problems since I was in my teens, for over 20 years I have been in and out of numerous OB/GYN offices in many states. Dr Hardwick-Smith was the only one who started the visit in her office, where she listened to me and and asked Questions about my history, taking the time to understand and really care about what was wrong and how I felt, instead of rushing me thru and telling me it was all in my head or was just like here take this medicine like so many other Doctors had done. The day of my surgery She was there making sure I had the best care every step of the procedure, she was kind, and compassionate always explaining everything, Through out my whole ordeal I never felt rushed or that I was a bother to her like so many other doctor's in the past had made me feel. To atttest to her skills as a surgeon, after my hysterectomy, I was up walking and in no pain the very next day. I was just amazed and grateful that I took the advice of a friend and went to see Dr. Hardwick-Smith. Because from the moment I made my appointment, thru the surgery and the visits after I have always been treated with respect and caring from the person who answers the phone, to the person who checks me out. They all are wonderful caring people, who stop and give you the time and care you need to understand everything. So the next time you are waiting a few extra minutes, remember maybe a baby is being born, or maybe the patient before you is needing a few extra minutes to understand what is going on with them. Because I can reassure you, Dr Hardwick-Smith and her staff will do the same for you.

Pros: The Doctor really CARES !

In regards to the last review I am a patient of Dr.HS and Complete Women's Care Center. Just to clear the air They DID NOTIFY me of city search and writing reviews. There is alot of people out there that will spread bad experiences faster than the GOOD. You really cant make all happy; unfortunately that's just the bottom line! but I will support my doctor to the fullest especially because she not only has been a great doctor she has helped me through some tough times in my life. And as you can see has helped many people with precious gifts like children that wasn't the experience for me but I am very happy to see the positive support she has been given. There are many doctors that I am sure have not made all people happy and apparently she is one of them but again life isn't always peaches and cream and i am sure what every made any one unhappy wasn't intentional, just life. Complete Women's Care Center thank you for notifying me of reviews !!!!!!!!!!!

Ratings_icons Caring, Compassionate and Capable-Best Doctors Ever!

happyandgratefulpatient

I just had to write in regarding these incredible physicians! The last time I was at my pediatrician's office in the waiting room, I overheard a conversation between two other women who were waiting for their appointments. Each of them was exclaiming over how much they loved their ob/gyns, and each one INSISTED that her ob/gyn was THE BEST EVER. I smiled to myself, knowing that after years of being in the care of Dr. Susan Hardwick-Smith that I was the one that had THE BEST doctor, for years as single woman and then during and after the births of my three boys. My smile widened as the conversation reached a feverish pitch, and then they both realized that they had the SAME ob/gyn, and I flat out laughed aloud when I heard them exclaim "Dr. Hardwick-Smith is my doctor-she's yours too??!!!" I couldn't help but turn around and tell them that Dr. Hardwick-Smith was my ob/gyn also, and we all began to discuss our incredible experiences with her, her associates, and her office. I have referred many, many friends and relatives to her, and every single time I get a grateful "thank you" phone call from the person I referred. Her office staff is professional, efficient and compassionate. Her nurse, Pam and her PA Brandi are some of the most caring women I have ever met. I feel so fortuate to be a patient of this Doctor and this Office. Not only do they celebrate with you in the "fun" moments, they are right there with you during the difficulties that sometimes accompany our lives as females. I highly recommend this practice and this Doctor.

Ratings_icons Dr. Hardwick-Smith saved my life!

DrHSsavedmylife

I agree with the reviewer below! Capable, Compassionate and Caring sums it up when you are talking about Dr. Susan Hardwick-Smith! She has been there with me through two very difficult pregnancies. In the first, she was able to make the difficult diagnosis of appendicitis in my 5th month, and stayed with me and assisted during the surgery to make certain that the baby was all right. The second time, my pregnancy had a difficult beginning, and when I began to have concerns about the baby she saw me immediately and was very caring and kind toward me when I was upset. When I came back to the office and there was no longer a heartbeat, Dr. HS was gentle and kind to me, and I felt as if she treated me as if I was a good friend. During the surgery to remove the fetus, I hemmoraged on the table and Dr. Hardwick Smith's quick reaction and subsequent transfusions literally saved my life. If it wouldn't be for her, I wouldn't be here for my two girls. Every time I think about how grateful I am for my children, I think of Dr. Hardwick-Smith and thank God that we have a doctor like her.

Pros: What more can I say? She's the best!

Everyone is entitled to her opinion, but It saddens me to see patients who judge quickly and intentionally sow seeds of discord about Dr. Hardwick-Smith and her practice. Hopefully, the sharing of my experience will give you a better perspective and thorough evaluation. I have been seeing Dr. H-S since 2001, way before I became a new mommy on Mar. 20, 2008. I have been under her care for over 7 yrs and counting. Without hesitation, I can say she consistently provides excellent care to her patients, pregnant or not. I am one of several patients who agree that she has a reputation for being the best of the best. I have high expectations and wouldn't settle for second best. She's caring, gentle, encouraging, straightforward, understanding and altruistic. There's no other doctor in town who possesses similar qualities and extends a wide array of services for women.
Plus, her office is conveniently located near a metrorail platform. I work in downtown, and can get to the office in only 15 mins. No need to deal w/ driving and parking - and it's only $2 (RT)! I was scheduled to deliver on a Monday, but baby came on Thurs. Her office staff is quite efficient. If you have to wait a few minutes, it's not because of them, it's probably because of patients like me who went into labor unexpectedly and needed the doctor's attention immediately. I had an uncomplicated pregnancy/delivery, but my recovery was not so. I developed mastitis (breast infection) and was in a lot of pain. I had every possible symptom there is. I called the office after hours. Dr. H-S called me within minutes, and right away i had my prescription to begin treatment. She even sent me a message that the pharmacy had my Rx and hoped I feel better soon. That wasn't all. It was Sunday, 7pm (dinner time), and it was her birthday. No other doctor would take time from her family to do this. I write this from experience: SHE'S THE BEST DOCTOR IN HOUSTON!

Pros: Caring, well-rounded doctor. Convenient location.

Cons: Nothing

I have been a patient of Dr Hardwick -Smith since 2003. After two full term pregnancies, and one miscarrige in between, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Doc and her staff!!!!!!!!!!!I I was refered to her by my best freind who is a Dentist, and later realized my sister-in-law ,who is also a Doctor, was also a patient of hers. Since my very first appointment i have always felt very comfortable and confident in placing my life and my babies lives in her hands. Its amazing how many different things can go wrong in a pregnancy and in a delivery and there is no one else I would have felt more at peace with knowing she would take good care of us. She always made herself available to me and even gave me her direct pager # in case i went into preterm labor. Her staff (especially Leticia) always made sure i kept my appointments and had my referal appointments asap. Dr. H-smith has a wonderful bedside manner and has always been very proffessional. I certainly would recommend and have refered some of my friends and family!!!!!!
