Cafe Vin has been open since March of 2011. It occupies the Historic Sulak's Cafe Building that was in business in West since 1923. Cafe Vin is a Cafe and Wine Bar with a different menu then Sulak's Cafe but has already made a name for itself among the regular crowd. They have a different nightly dinner special that is not listed in the menu. You can keep track of the Cafe via their Facebook at "Cafe Vin of West."

Sulak's is located in downtown West, off I-35. We have gone here several times over the years. Menu is partly Czech and partly American. On last visit I ordered stuffed cabbage leaves and sauerkraut salad. They don't seem to have labor-intensive Czech items, such as dumplings. They do have sausages. It is a pleasant, small restaurant with courteous personnel and pleasant surroundings, and we will be going back.

We ate here on a whim after seeing the bilboard on I35. We love to support locally owned places whenever we can. This was such a treat! The food was fabulous; trational and comforting simplyYummmy! the service personal and friendly. The house dressing is something you need to take home with you other wise you will be sorry when you begin to crave it a few days later. It was one of the most pleasant meals we have ever had.

Message from Cafe Vin

We are happy to offer the West Commuinty a Cafe-Wine Bar that is second to none. We want to compliment, not compete, with the West Community of Restaurants which is famous in the Central Texas area for fine foods. Please come to the Czech Town of West, Texas and try out any of our wonderful restaurants including the newest kid on the block, Cafe Vin.

More about Cafe Vin

The Cafe Vin menu includes Gourmet Signature Sandwiches, Salads, Fully Loaded Baked Potatoes, Chilli and Stews. The most popular sandwich to date is the Mesquite Grilled Chicken Club. Every night the Cafe has a different featured dinner which is posted on the Cafe's Facebook Page everyday. You can find that page by searching for "Cafe Vin of West" on Facebook. The wine list is second to none in the area. However, the cafe does offer a vareity of beers as well including some on draft in the soon to be famous "Piv-O" mugs. The chili and stew recipes are handed down from co-owner Darryl Barton's Great Uncle Edwin Volcik who made them famous in the Old Friendship Cafe that operated in West from 1948 until 1980. There is live music on weekends that give the small cafe an upbeat feel. Be sure and stop by Cafe Vin and experience a wonderful atmosphere that has an Old World European feel
