We celebrated a birthday there last night. The food was very good and the waitstaff was friendly. Rolls were fresh and the chef made special rolls for the group. We all ate way too much!

Pros: best croissant roll & sushi

I don't eat sushi and was dragged here by someone who wanted to try it. I ordered the Teriyaki Steak off the menu. They brought me some kind of soup which tasted like warm (not hot) salt water. The salad was plain yet yucky.

The worst part was the steak, which one would think would be good given that it is part of their name. It was tough and overcooked. I ate almost none of my food, yet no one said a word about it.

My dining companion said the sushi was below average.

If you are the type that is excited by crummy food being served to you on a conveyor belt, this is the place for you.

This little restaurant is pretty good but a little pricy in my opinion. Their sushi was plenty fresh and it's fun because you take whatever you want right off the conveyor belt, but it's not the best sushi I've ever had in Dallas!

I used to live by this place, I went there on a almost weekly basis, and this place pretty much changed me from a Sushi hater to a Sushi lover. I decided to take my girlfriend there the other day and found the sign hanging out front "Grand Opening" (Which confused me). Apparently they changed ownership, the original sushi chef's id been accustomed to had been removed as well as the wait staff. I saw alot of new options available on the belt, however the normal mix of rolls was not as good as it had been, I had to request a roll (California Roll with Shrimp on top) that normally was frequently on the belt. The Killer of the whole deal is later that night both myself and my girlfriend became ill. While This place was great before, i will be very hesitant on going back.

I went there once and I loved it. If I had read some of these negative reviews I am seeing here, I would not have gone. That would have been a shame, since it's pretty damn good. Seriously, folks, if you are going to write an "intelligent" negative review, please use proper spelling, punctuation and grammar. F- to all of you who chose not to consult a dictionary before spewing your unsolicited opinions.

Pros: All the sushi you can eat!

Cons: Other customers who can't spell when writing a review.

My review based purely on the lunch buffet since I haven't ordered from their menu yet!

this is probably the only place in Dallas that have the authentic rotating belt sushi buffet place (common in Asia) the price 15.99 is a bit high since they only offer about 7~8 different kind of sushis/rolls
you can pay about the same and just go down the street to Tokyo One for more variety and choices of food.
out of the 7~8 dishes about 3~4 of them is basically alteration of the california roll....with different sauces or topping etc.

the environment is ok, but it could use some upgrades

wait staffs / owners / cooks are really nice and attentive.

if they'd offer more items on the belt...it'd be great
I'd have to order some items from the menu to write another review
but the over all experience was ok

I really enjoyed having lunch hear with my friend. We had looked for a few places that we thought would match up to one of our favorite sushi locations in Irving. The main factor being a buffet that offered a good variety for a reasonable price. Genki's got 2 out of 3 right. The main thing missing is a better variety. If you like california rolls, spicy tuna rolls, philadelphia rolls, salmon sushimi and yellow tail sushimi then this is the place to go for the buffet because that is what they have to offer. I am not knocking it because it is good tasting and reasonably priced. However I do plan to go back and eat off the regular menu where there is a lot more variety offered. Overall I would recommend this location as a good location to go to and try out for yourself. More than likely you will not be disappointed.

The place is relatively cheap. All you can eat for $15.95, I'll give you that, but you'll get what you pay for. Anyone that ever had a good sushi experience will be insulted by the selection and the taste of sushi and rolls.
Pros: the price, and a very good customer service.
Cons: the sushi (hello!)
Note: I don't want to even go to the freshness of the items, but I'll be fare and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Recommendation: don't ever take a person who has never eaten sushi before, because he/she will never eat sushi again.

Cons: Crowded

First of all their Buffet is only a price of $12.95 I mean how cheap is that? a whole buffet,
Their service is very kind, the food was clean and had more than 30 different kinds of sushi.
Great for parties all you need to do is go there and plan it out with the owner when, how many people, and etc.
When I first went there i was shocked to see the price instead of all the expensive ones that are like a dollar for a plate of only 2 sushi. There are variety of Drinks from soft drinks for children to import liquors this place is great. The restaurant was unbelievably cheap and fun.

I ordered the salmon bento box and the salmon was uncooked. Half of the food on the concession belt were not covered. Major health risk with customers coughing on the food. There was no offer of reinbursement, so we walked out. If you want a good sushi place go to Tomo off the 75 in Plano.

I am from California. Trust me...I know my sushi!

We first experienced this restaurant in the Hawaiian Islands. We were very excited to see it had come to Dallas. The experience was not quite the same, the rotating bar that you can usually pick up a colored plate with edible servings of food, had plastic imitations. So, needless to say, it was a little slower, and we had to order from a proper menu. They do have a bar seating where you can watch the food being prepared, as well as tables. The price is a little higher than Hawaii as well. Overall, not bad.

I started eating at Genki soon after it opened and I'm hooked. Their fish is extremely fresh and the portions are always generous. I love the fact that the owner greets me each time I enter as if I were a friend and not just a wallet with legs. The chefs are always helpful when I can't decide what I'd like and I've never had a bad meal here. If you're not in the mood for sushi, the ton-katsu is amazing. If you're around the area at lunch, try the four-plate special. You get four plates of sushi (any kind, I think) for only 9.99.

We have been going to Genki Sushi for the last few weeks, since they opened.
We are amazed by the quality of sushi there. My husband is Japanese and very picky about his sushi, must be authentic. Well, he loves the food at Genki.
The fish is super fresh and they give you nice, thick pieces.
The rolls are high quality and also large with a large amount of fish, not mostly filler and rice as some other sushi places.
Our favorites are: Tuna roll (they make them with thick pieces of maguro), the hamachi roll (lots of yellowtail and good amt of scallions - yummy), the california roll, spider roll.
All of the sushi we have had there is excellent, ask the sushi man which fish is freshest on the day you go. We have always had good hamachi (yellowtail), maguro, tako, tai there.
The menu foods are also delicious. The katsu tastes fresh and homemade.
It is one of our favorite sushi places along with Sushi Sake, Blue Fish, and C Rolls.
