I was moving from Minnesota to Texas.
The foreman Anthony and his crew were very professional. They listened to my requests and were receptive to my suggestions.
I really appreciate the extra care to my specific pieces of furniture that needed it.
Totally appreciate Anthony??s sense of humor and letting me help. I??d be happy to join his crew when I need a job. A nice team to work with.

In addition, they store some of my furniture for a few months. Thanks again. Great job!

If I could give it a big fat ZERO I would!!! I gave them my 20% deposit which they gladly took...but when I called them back & told them I wasn't moving, and that I wanted my deposit back...the whole tune changed. I am apalled that a supposed "reputable" company would treat their customers with such disrespect and down right rudeness. If I lived in Houston, I would go to their place of business and give him a piece of my mind, gladly!!! What a sneaky coward he (Ray) is. All I can say is if I don't get a response by tomorrow, crap is gonna hit the fan, and not a my house either.

All I can stay is STAY AWAY!!! After over 5 months I am still trying to get 3 boxes they have in their office. Ray the owner, does not return calls. Everyone else I have talked to there lies. The Houston PD has an extensive file on them

Dan and his company are great to deal with. Dan was very professional and friendly over the phone and assured me that I should choose R&L for my move and he was right.
The movers were on time, great packers and very polite, professional, courteous. Explained everything, Took care of my items very nicely. I will use them again after my lease expires. Thank you guys.

This company is as crooked as they come. I have an extensive review over at Customer Lobby. Long story short, my move never happened. The day they were supposed to show up they didn't, then when they finally showed up (2 days late) they double the price on me, even though I still had the same inventory of items. Al Green, the sales troll, can talk he sound nice and tells you what you want to hear, then he sticks it to you. He talks mess about the owner and other employees just to make you feel you can trust him. He told me Wend, the receptionist, was "an idiot who only knew how to answer phones." Ray Oren, the owner is also a crook. He spoke to me as if I was a liar and that I was lucky his company was doing my move. People like this do not need to be in any business, they need to be shut down, which hopefully with enough complaints it does happen.

Don't use this moving company. This company is a fraud! BBB recently revoked their accreditation in Jan 2011. I wish I knew this company is shady before hiring them for my move. Long story short, I paid them to pick up my stuff, break my stuff and deliver broken items long after the scheduled delivery date. The owner Ray Oren is a biggest liar with full of false promises, he knows how to sweet talk into hiring them. Once he gets your money he literally disappears! For your sanity sake, AVOID R&L MOVING SYSTEMS.

I recently moved from Iowa to Texas. We went through Budget Van Lines who hired out R & L Moving Systems. To start, R & L were two days late for pick up. We were told they would be there between 8-10 on a Wednesday morning. They showed up at almost 11. There were only two movers, who took forever. My husband helped them most of the time, because our entire family was set to leave that day. Finally after 8 hours, the van was loaded.

We were told that our belonging would arrive in Texas that Monday. Come Friday, we received a call stating that the van would not be there AND that the cost was now double {as they had given us an estimate, but was grossly off}. Monday comes. No show. We receive a call stating that the van will arrive Friday. Friday comes. NO SHOW! By now my husband has spoken to Ray Oren, the "owner". Ray assures us that we will be compensated for the delay and that our things will be there that weekend. Come Saturday, when we have heard nothing, we call Ray. Turns out, our belongings are still in Iowa {remember, we are now in Texas, almost two weeks!}. Ray PROMISES that the van will be at our house by Monday. NO SHOW! Finally, at 4:30 IN THE MORNING on Tuesday {13 days after they picked up, 11 days after we were first expecting our belongings} the van shows up.

I can handle the delay. But the constant, lying from the owner, never getting calls back, always being given a run around is what makes this company awful. They did compensate us $400 {of course, that is after charging us an extra $2000 what we were originally quoted}. RAY OREN could perhaps be the worse company owner I have dealt with. If you need to move, DO NOT hire this company. Move it yourself. NEVER WITH R & L!!

I had moved multiple times before but this by far is the worst move that I have had. I had diligently done my research before this move to specifically avoid such a mishap. I had gone through the Better business bureau ratings and found R&L movers who had a A- rating for my move from St.Louis to Philadelphia. The process of setting up the move and the pickup was performed professionally. The promised date of delivery was 1 week after the pickup. But there was no communication from Ray about the expected date of delivery, and multiple emails to him about the same were never replied. When I called his office the only thing they would tell me was that the delivery was being scheduled and they did not have a date. After going through this was for about a 1-1.5 weeks when I had to repurchase multiple things that I already owned as they were not yet delivered by Ray, I get a delivery date which was 18 days after the pickup. Ray had then promised me a ??big discount? on the move price because the delivery was late. The driver of the truck a Mr. Sergey was the worst mover that I have ever encountered. He picked up a fight with me when I had asked him to either not use the moving dolly on the carpet in the house or lay down a plastic sheet on the carpet when using the dolly on the carpet so that the dirt from the street is not smeared into the carpet. He flatly refused my request and went on to verbally and physically abuse me and me pregnant wife. He also threw a box full of my stuff on the road and all my clothes and valuables were strewn on the road. I was so threatened by his outburst that I had to resort to call 911 and have the police come over to manage the situation. He calmed down only after the police were on the scene. Then he continued to smear all the dirt from the road into my carpet. This was when I was frantically trying to get hold of ray to talk to his men but Ray was conveniently absent. He contacted me the next day and told me that he would reimburse me $250 for the ??Big discount? that he had promised and the issues that I had with the driver. Now it has been over a month since he had promised me this reimbursement and every time I contact him about it he spins me another story about how it is in the mail and how he is going to mail it the next day. I would not advise anyone to fall for his sugar coated words and pay to be abused by his moving crew. The worst mistake in my life.

4/25/11 - They had broken my futon and multiple other articles. I had sent the list with picture proof to the insurance mediators who sent in settlement amount which I had accepted in October, but it is April now and I have not yet received the money. The only response for my multiple contact with them that the check is in the mail. I hope they can mend their ways and send the check soon.

I contracted R&L Moving Services to store and move my personal property in September 2009. They stored my property in Houston from 9/2009 - 5/2010. When it was time to arrange delivery, I was quoted one price from the owner, Ray Owen, and then a higher price by the actual delivery driver, less than 24 hours before delivery.
When my property was finally delivered, my flat screen TV was missing. I informed the owner, Ray Owen, and he asked for some time to investigate. After multiple calls, emails and threats of legal action the owner (Mr. Owen) called me and apologized. He stated that it looks like the storage facility was robbed. He promised to replace my TV - I even agreed to accept a refurbished model - I was trying to work with him. He told me to look up the price and send him what I was able to find, he would pay for it and have it delivered to my home. He agreed to this in June. After a few weeks and no update or TV, many more emails and calls, he asked that I give him a few weeks to finish his "busy" season, again, I agreed. In July, after no update, more emails and phone calls, I finally spoke to him on the phone. This time, he promised to mail a check to my home the following day. It is now the end of august and I have no check or replacement TV. Furthermore, Mr. Owen won??t take or return any of my calls or emails.
I have all correspondence saved and plan to file Court Proceedings.

There is a character limit, so I will just post part of my review:
Damaged Items:
?Solid Wood Bed ?? The headboard is broke in two. The wood is very thick, so there had to be a lot of force to break this in half. The entire bed is not useable, because the side rails sit into the headboard, which also supports the footboard. BUT I will only be reimbursed 0.60 cents per lb of the headboard only! So what, that is maybe $6-18 dollars for ruining my entire bed? Also, this is the ONLY reason I hired movers to move my things was for safe transfer of my solid wood bedroom set. I looked for several hours trying to find the headboard, but I can not find it anywhere. If I have to buy a new bed (which if I get one similar will cost me over $2000) the wood and style will not match making my entire bedroom set useless.
?Large Dresser ?? The delivery driver scratched the dresser trying to put the mirror back on. The scratch marks are around 3 feet in length, each. Also there is a chip out of the side of the solid wood dresser, and one of the drawers is broken. There are 5 legs on this dresser, and one is broken off.
?42? TV- The frame is bent away from the TV and it does not work.
?End Tables ?? Both have paint scratched off.
?Shelves ?? Chipped, scratched, missing paint.
?Sofa Chair ?? The cushion was not delivered. It has four legs, the movers removed all four, threw it in the truck (without packing it), so as one would expect, they lost one and now there are only three! It is now useless.
?Dinning Room Chair ?? My solid wood dinning room chair was broken in two. The top piece was broken off. 3 out of 4 chairs are chipped up and one is missing some wood at the top. My only explanation is something really heavy must have been ramming into my things repeatedly to have so much solid wood furniture broken.
?Mother??s China ?? My mother passed away a couple years ago. I have her china, which means a lot to me. The china is smashed even though the box says ??fragile?. Many boxes seem to be extremely dented, smashed, and have holes in them. The boxes I used are really thick shipping boxes so this should not happen unless my things were being handled roughly.
?Leather Ottoman ?? Leather ottoman has only 3 out of the 4 legs, making it entirely useless.
?Dirty Mattress - My mattress came to me dirty, which I do not understand since they were wrapped in blankets, they also ripped a giant hole in it.
?Some items not delivered - Such as a brand new $50 metal shoe rack, some boxes, etc.
?Smashed Boxes ?? So many boxes were smashed. I have dishes broken, all my collectable statues (which were individually wrapped and packed in a box) were smashed. Appliances had pieces broken off.

CONCLUSION ?? All in all, R & L Moving Systems Inc, seems to hook their customers with a lower estimate than most moving companies (although I found a lower estimate, but I saw the reviews of the company were bad, so though I would go with R & L), but end up ??under estimating? and charging hundreds ?? thousands extra the day of the move, which gives you no choice but to pay. Ray Oren someone who likes to talk A LOT. He will reassure you in anyway. I wanted to believe everything he said but it seemed he was just saying things make you confident in his company at the time with no intentions of following through (such as when our items would be delivered, that we would receive calls, that I would be reimbursed and given extra compensation for all the damaged items and problems with the move).

TIPS ?? I only hired this company to move my items for me because I thought it would be much less stress on me, since I was driving across the country with my 3 pets that day, and having just graduated with my MS degree that week. This caused me the most stress I have ever had in my life. What I was originally going to do, was hire movers off of the Uhaul website, to load an Uhaul truck for me. I did this in 2009 and it cost me only $80 for two hours of 3 people loading the truck for me. Then drive the truck yourself, in my case my fianc would have done it, then hire movers again to unload for you. I am sure the move would have gone smoothly; I would have saved hundreds ?? thousands of dollars; I would not have had to sleep on the floor for 14 days, I would have had my things instantly. No one is going to take better care of your things than you. Just remember that.

?Smashed Boxes ?? So many boxes were smashed. I have dishes broken, all my collectable statues (which were individually wrapped and packed in a box) were smashed. Appliances had pieces broken off.

CONCLUSION ?? All in all, R & L Moving Systems Inc, seems to hook their customers with a lower estimate than most moving companies (although I found a lower estimate, but I saw the reviews of the company were bad, so though I would go with R & L), but end up ??under estimating? and charging hundreds ?? thousands extra the day of the move, which gives you no choice but to pay. Ray Oren someone who likes to talk A LOT. He will reassure you in anyway. I wanted to believe everything he said but it seemed he was just saying things make you confident in his company at the time with no intentions of following through (such as when our items would be delivered, that we would receive calls, that I would be reimbursed and given extra compensation for all the damaged items and problems with the move).

TIPS ?? I only hired this company to move my items for me because I thought it would be much less stress on me, since I was driving across the country with my 3 pets that day, and having just graduated with my MS degree that week. This caused me the most stress I have ever had in my life. What I was originally going to do, was hire movers off of the Uhaul website, to load an Uhaul truck for me. I did this in 2009 and it cost me only $80 for two hours of 3 people loading the truck for me. Then drive the truck yourself, in my case my fianc would have done it, then hire movers again to unload for you. I am sure the move would have gone smoothly; I would have saved hundreds ?? thousands of dollars; I would not have had to sleep on the floor for 14 days, I would have had my things instantly. No one is going to take better care of your things than you. Just remember that.

These guys knows how to game the system. They have BBB rating of A- which is nothing but a JOKE. They well give you NOT TO EXCEED quote which means nothing, I will tell you why. R&L won't show up on the day o the move. After several phone calls they show up with a rented truck with two guys from the street. These two guys will start walking around your house on the day of the move and then they will ask for more money in CASH and up front. If you refuse they will keep your 10% down payment. Than you file a complain with BBB and BBB will ask you to go to Houston for arbitration on 10% downpayment what R&L is withholding. By the time you are already in a different state but not in Houston. Since you can't go to Houston, after sometime BBB will close the case as resolved ; R&L get to keep your 10% downpaymnet you made and their A- rating with BBB remains untouched. If you are lucky and agreed to everything they make you to do sinc eyou might not have a choice on the day of the move, you will end up with missing or damaged household stuff based on reveiws I am reading on the internet. STAY FAR AWAY. This industry in not tightly regulated by government. Unfortunately government is not cracking down on these kind of companies. Ray is the guy who says he own the company, it sounds like he is from a different country and making his money on this SCAM by gaming the loophole of the system. Not an honest businessman. He is very polite when talking to you at first before getting 10% downpayment after that he is extreemly rude. His right hand man identifies himself as David who is no different than Ray. I am still trying to recoup my money which is very unlikely. Mastercard is no help. I wish I charged my 10% downpayment on American Express, because they try to protect their consumer but not the Mastercard.

The first sign of R&L's lack of professionalism was right after I paid my deposit 3 weeks ago. The sales rep assigned to me was a guy named David, and as soon as I paid my deposit I've been having no luck reaching him despite multiple voice messages and e-mails (the latter of which is supposedly the "best" way to contact him...um, right). So, giving up on David, I tried contacting their main number to talk to the customer service department. There I spoke with a woman named Thia, who is forever telling me to contact David and that no one else in the office can help (or anyone who can is always out). I'm not sure how their actual moving service is, because I canceled my move and have been trying (unsuccessfully) to get my refund for 2 weeks now. I've pretty much given up playing nice and trying to communicate with them, and will probably be filing a complaint with BBB.
