Pro: the service was prompt and friendly.

Con: The food is so-so. The hummus and chickedn shawarma(sp?) was mediocre, and the pita bread is tough, chewy, and not very fresh.

For lunch, I got the chick. shwrma entre with tabouli & hummus

My boyfriend and I went here on Halloween Eve, so maybe the original staff was gone trick or treating and subbed in non-english speaking staff, who knows.

We were harshly greeted by a girl saying "Are you eating here or to go?" -

nasty. worst shawarma in the city. went at lunch time, I was the only customer. the so called chicken smelled and tasted nasty. pretty sure the hummous is from a can...and the bread was probably 2-3 days old. so dissapointing.

i used to love this place, but ever since it went under new ownership the quality has really diminished. too bad, it used to be such a gem.

Pros: Example: best croissants in town

Cons: What are the drawbacks?

.

My husband and I live in Katy and take trips downtown just to eat here. We love the chicken schwarma (sp?), teboulah (sp?) and hummus. I haven't found another Med. restaurant that I like as much as La Fendee (in my area anyways). Convienently, it is located close to my sister-in-law's hair salon...so everytime I get my hair done I treat myself to lunch here! HIGHLY recommend for a great meal!

Pros: Great food, friendly service, outdoor eating

Cons: service can be a little slow

.

The first time I went the service was slow
and the waitress was completely incompetent.
How could the waitress confuse our dishes as someone
elses when there are only three other tables in the whole restaurant.
Seriously! The food is pretty good, but I have to agree with a
previous comment about the chicken beingdry....
The hookah is ok, other than that it's a pretty nice place to chillax...

Pros: Food...

Cons: Service

The patio is a really nice place to hang out, despite the fact that it sits on Westheimer. I like all the food here, taboulleh, chicken shawarma, grilled beef kabob, kafta, you name it! They have argile if you are into that. It's about 2 dollars overpriced on most dishes in my opinion, but definitely the best Arabic food in the neighborhood. The only thing is that the staff is SLOOOOW. I'm not talking about the Mediterranean style of letting you take things at a leisurely pace... just plain slow! They disappear for ages and ages, no chance of a quick meal if that's what you want.

Pros: Good grilled meats, fresh ingredients, no impostor food, patio

Cons: slow service, overpriced

The beef swarma was horrible. The humus did not taste like humus. The eggplant made me gag.

Do not go to this place.

We have been regular patrons of this restaurant for a few years now. Their service is not always right on the mark but their food definitely compensates for any other deficiencies. We go for the gyros and split a chef's sampler. SO GOOD! They don' t have a liquor license so you can bring your own wine which is always nice.

I went for the first time for lunch on Saturday. I order the gyro and liked the meat but I don't like that it is rolled up like a burrito. I prefer the pita folded in half and filled. The rice was probably the best rice in town. However, my biggest let down was the pita bread. It was really thin, dried out and hard. You can tell it is bought and not made there and they should purchase it daily so it is fresher and not hard and crusty. I would go back if they had soft, fresh pita, especially since you can get great food and not crusty pita a few blocks down the road. What is a good mediterranean place without good pita bread?

Also, they could use a little music in the background. It is a small quiet place so without a little music you cannot do anything but overhead everyone around you.

Well, where to start. My husband and I have frequented this resturant quite often. After numerous occassion we got to know the owners. Ever since the sold and new management took over things have definitely taken a turn for the worse. For starters, the service was horrible. My husband was finished with his food and mine half way done when we finally had the waiter come and ask us if everything was ok. When asked about the sauce the plate was supposed to come with she was unaware of menu items said she would go check but then never came back. All the food taste so much different, very bland and dry. The only thing that tasted the same was the rice. We tried to keep an open mind but needless to say in the end our visit was unpleasant. There is very limited space for parking so most people have to park on the side street. The new owners felt he didnt need to park there. His Cadillac Escalade was parked in one of the few parking spots for his customers. After a period of time he had a waiter move his vechile in the only hanicapped parking spot available. We felt this was very rude towards his customers not to mention against the law for parking in a marked hanicapped spot without a tag or license plate giving him such permission to park there. Nevertheless we will no longer be coming back or recommending this place as we once did to all friends and family.

Pros: Hookah's are nice benefit along with BYOB

Cons: Bland food, terrible and inattentive service

.

Great location...nice patio and a BYOB policy is always nice. The food, however, could definitely be improved. The meat is dry and overcooked. And not just the chicken. Beef is overcooked as well. The one bright spot was the hummus. Smooth and wonderfully seasoned. With all of the Medi options in the area, I doubt I will return.

overall I think this place is good. the hummus is great, not canned but fresh. all the beef dishes are great (kabobs and shwarma), but the chicken dishes are a bit dry. the greek salad is great too. HOWEVER, if you go on a sunny saturday or sunday afternoon, or even on an evening, be prepared to WAIT. it seems they usually have only 1 person waiting the whole restaurant and it seems to lag quite a bit.

I've become a regular...I love their sampler and strawberry juice! The staff is very friendly...great service! It's very affordable and for what you get...it's a steal! Their menu is great for vegetarians and their carnivore friends! I like to sit outside...they have good patio seating.

Pros: Inexpensive, Great Food, Ambiance

I was sick of the terrible service we always get at the Meyerland Fadi's so I found this place on this site. Food is awesome. Servers there pay so much attention to you.
Chicken Kabob sandwich plate was awesome. Atmosphere was nice. Place was very clean.

I decided to go here on a whim and I'm sure glad I did. I love Mediterranean food and this place impressed me. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant is laid back and comfortable. The hummus is so creamy. You can tell that it has a lot of yummy tahini in it! You got a whole lot of food for the money, especially with the sandwich plates that come with a salad and a side. The Greek salad was the best ever...the balsamic is of very good quality. The food seemed more authentic than what I've had before. I was impressed by everything that me and my boyfriend had. I'll definately come back...OFTEN!

My husband and I started going here once they opened, after our beloved Republic Square closed. I was skeptical bitter at the closing, and skeptical as I have had a LOT of mediocre Mediterranean food. The falafel is WONDERFUL (though I wish they would offer it with fries, like "over there"), the hummus and pita are tasty (MUCH better than Niko Nikos). The eggplant was fantastic, only the portion was pretty small. Gyros and salad were good too. My only complaint was that the tabouli was once SO TART it was like I was eating straight limes... However, I had it there before and it was much more mild, so that was definitely a fluke. Good price for what you get, my husband and I can stuff ourselves for under $15.

I had heard that La Fendee was excellent. Several people told me that the food was good and the portions were huge. I was very disappointed. The chicken consisted of tiny pieces of meat. It was greasy and crumbly. I ordered hummus which was runny and too lemony. Then to add insult to injury, the waiter asked us how the food was, and when we nicely told him our opinion, he said, Sorry. Personally, I think he should have tried to make it right, but he didnt.

It's so great to find a place that serves good food (and definitely doesn't skimp on portions), is affordable, and lets you bring your own booze, with NO corking fee. The waitstaff is very nice and accommodating, too, letting me make substitutions and actually turning the heater up when I mentioned that it was a little chilly and all the customers were still wearing their jackets at the tables. The only "bad" part was that I tried the fish catch of the day, which was not good at all. BUT all of the other stuff was very tasty that everyone else had....i.e. definitely stick with the chicken, beef, lamb, etc. We are definitely going again, tonight, actually :)
