Ammonia tasting scallops is what I got for dinner !
It was such a horrible experience that my husband loses his appetite on the fish he ordered . The waiter offered
to replace it with a new one , but I don't think I can swallow
any

I had a very good meal at Pesca. Highly recommend the Alaska black cod with Oyster curry. Although the Sonoran Seafood Cocktai l was a bit bland and they were out of the wine I ordered. The placemment wine was good but the service was slow

This weekend was my second experience at Pesca, and it compelled me to write a review (my first). This restaurant has EVERYTHING going for it. The Watermark hotel is an incredible place to stay - definitely one of the nicest if not THE nicest place to stay on the river. But, Pesca misses the mark.

I will say the people seem nice. But sometimes the service seems good and other times you might feel like you're at Chili's. The place seems geared toward up-selling you than creating a great dining experience, resulting in overpriced average food and service.

The first time I went, they made a substitution on my wife's entree without asking (they didn't realize it was something she was very excited about). It turns out they were out of it, and rather than letting us know, just went ahead with something else! They apologized profusely and offered us complementary french press (great coffee, btw), but not the kind of service I would have expected. I have on both accounts been impressed by the desserts - the creme brulee is great and the tres leches is unlike any tres leches I've ever had - excellent. But, overall, appetizers were good but *tiny*, entrees bland (how can you mess up seared Ahi tuna?!).

This time they were out of Oysters. I understand running out of things, but when you're a seafood restaurant with 1/4 of the menu devoted to oysters and an oyster bar and charging such a premium for them - pulease...! Still, $30 for the appetizer where they substituted 3 shrimp for every 4 oysters. I had the clam chowder which was very good - smokey and rich.

I think overall the table was pleased, but certainly it was below expectations. I will not be back for a while... if you're in the mood for a great seafood/dining experience, look elsewhere..

Pros: tres leches, creme brulee, coffee, and dog fish head on tap

Cons: very spotty with food and service (on 2 separate occasions)

My husband, friends and I are major foodies.. we try out at least a new restaurant every week, be it in Phoenix where we are from, or be it where ever we are visiting... So the president's day weekend, we were in Texas and what would you love to do on a Sat night.. be at the river walk... We were hungry for some good quality sea food and our boat ride guide and a few others suggested we try Pesca on the river..

We really don?t mind paying the money if the ambience and food are just average... but we all being from the service industry, we really value good service... and our experience was far from pleasant..

No on attended us until we actually walked into the restaurant and asked to be attended. Once they did attend us, they gave us a table in a cold corner of the patio, far from the rest of the guests, where the patio heaters didn?t work, even though they had plenty of tables open and available. When 4 of us requested a bigger table, they said we could have a bigger table ONLY if we were more than 4... result.. we did not eat there... one of my friends who?s the coolest human (who never loses it) actually said sarcastically... thank u for your hospitality before we left...

We don?t know:
- if we were treated in that manner because we are Indians
- if we were treated in that manner because we had no grey hair
- if they thought we had no bucks to spare...
- if they thought we wouldn?t tip..
- if they treat everyone this way cos most of the river walk visitors are tourists and they don?t expect us back
- if they thought we were UGLY

I just could write on... but I think anyone that wants a pleasant restaurant experience shouldn?t visit here... or actually, maybe you MUST go there and you must write too.. about them and about their hospitality...

I tried Pesca during this Presidents day weekend.
The only thing great was the "Price"...the service was pathetic, some waitresses were not even courteous.
Yes it was a busy day but it shouldnt be an excuse and i would never recommend this restaurant.
Probably the worst dining experience of my life..

My wife and I had an average experience at Pesca last year but we like the atmosphere, so we decided to re-visit the restaurant. We went there pretty late (approx. 10 pm). The waitress was very attentive but the food was absolutely awful. My wife ordered 1/4 lb crabmeat as appetizer and snapper and I ordered spinach salad with Monkfish as entree. The spinach salad turned out to be a pleasant surprise, crabmeat was edible but nothing to write home about and both of entree were OVERCOOKED and EXTREMELY SALTY! By then, we were tired and hungry, so we decided not to say anything and left in a hurry. My wife and I love seeking out restaurants with good food and we certainly don't mind paying more but my experience at Pesca was just totally UNACCEPTABLE. Needless to say, Pesca is off our dining list for eternity!

For the money go to Budros! Bad service, fair but overpriced food. In all my years of dining, I have never had a waiter bring 2 botlles of wine and try to upsale ant tableside! I live in San Antonio, not some hole in the wall, south of the border. Class, this place has it in price only.

As a first time visitor to San Antonio's Riverwalk and unsure of where to eat, I stumbled into Pesca because of it's beautiful wood furniture-filled patio and more fine tuned menu. The outside ambience was beautiful--quieter than others on the Riverwalk--and the service was for the most part excellent. I had a charming young waiter (although a bit inexperienced) that seemed to have a good knowledge of the menu and wine list. The chopped crab salad was light, fresh, and delicious. The house ceviche was a bit too salty. Overall, the portions and flavors were nice, and the ambience was relaxing. If I visited San Antonio again, I would probably go back.

Having just moved here a few months ago i asked around to find out where Texans go to eat seafood. Without a doubt the majority of people I asked , said to try pesca on the river. I was very excited to try it having moved from Boston not long ago and yearned for some great seafood. The date did not start off on the right foot, they sat us in a booth and then forgot about us, 15 minutes later I had to search for an employee to have them greet us. The service went even further downhill after that, our wine never showed up, the fish was overcooked and our entrees took over 55 minutes from salad, to delivery. A manager never came by and I would say to anyone that ventures that way on the river stay clear, overpriced and will only leave you dissapointed.

Pros: none

Cons: worst service in san antonio

We just ate here, very nice broad menu. Great atmosphere, as with most resaurants nowadays, quite noisy inside. If you are looking for good fresh seafood I highly reccomend this restaurant.
