Met Dr Nunnelly during an emergency admittance to the hospital. He was reassuring and professional. We discussed what needed to be done with plenty of care and compassion. He is very thorough and believes in providing each patient 100%

Well, Dr. Gooch may be great if you are young and having a baby, but for a peri-menopausal woman he is pretty unhelpful. He showed very little concern for my symptoms and pretty much dismissed my concerns as silly and an overreaction.

I have to say that im sorry for the experiences that the women below have shared. I suppose its easier to write a complaint than a compliment. I personally have been seeing Dr. Sweeney for a little over 2 years. She delivered my first baby, and is about to deliver the second next month. I have seen several doctors throughout the years, and none have been as caring and concerned as Dr. Sweeney. She shows actual interest in her patients, and really has whats best for you at heart. In the case that you may not agree with her diagnosis, you have the right to a second opinion. She delivers babies at the hospital next door, so there will be times that she steps out to do this during your appointment. This never happened with my first baby, but has happened twice with this second pregnancy. I am always however given the choice to wait for her to return. Unfortunately with some other physicians, I experienced a bit of racism, or what felt like it at least. Im not the type to victimize myself, but I suppose it happens. Never once have I ever felt that Dr. Sweeney has treated me different because i am a minority. Overall she is an amazing physician that has been recognized numerous amount of times for her great achievements and ability for being a wonderful doctor. Know that you will be in good hands when seeing her and her staff.

Pros: Actually Cares

Dr. Nunnelly has been my gynecologist for years and came highly recommended by a relative of mine in the medical field. Not only has he been a great doctor whose conservative outlook has saved me a lot of poking, prodding, and superflous testing, but a week and a half ago he delivered my first child by cesarean and it could not have gone smoother. His calming demeanor worked wonders on my husband and I during a stressful event and he performed my surgery quickly and painlessly. A couple of days later he did the same for my newborn son's circumcision procedure. The staff at his office, including the nurses and nurse practicioner have been equally as stellar in their willingness to be supportive in answering all our questions and assisting with our emotional readiness for bringing home our son. I highly recommend Dr. Nunnelly and his staff for any female related medical need!

I have been going to this practice for over ten years and have loved my doctor, Pat Nunnelly, and his staff since I started seeing him. All of the nurses and rest of the practice's staff are so professional and personable. I recently had a daughter so my husband went to some of my appointments. He has commented how nice everyone is when we were in the office.
Dr. Nunnelly genuinely cares about his patients' well being, as do his nurses. I am so glad I go to this practice!

Dr Kish has been my doctor for 3+ years now and I have never had a bad experiance with her. She is friendly, understanding, and listens well to you. Even when I had to have surgery the process was impressive, the office had it scheduled the for the same week and communicated all the information that I needed very well. I can't wait to have children and have Dr Kish deliver them!

After I met Dr. Reue, I knew he was the doctor for me. He is a good listener, which is important to me. Dr. Reue knows my history and me. There weren't any surprises with my surgery. I knew what to expect. Also, I like the fact that the staff is so friendly and well informed.

I just had my annual exam with Lydia Sweeney. I wondered why she seemed in a hurry- very nice as always, but must be trying to keep on track due to unrealistic people like one review I read. The best 2 doctors I have both keep patients waiting in general- the reason is that sometimes emergencies come up, and they both take their time to really talk to their patients. Lydia Sweeney is one of the best....in fact she really SAVED me 16 years ago when I first came to her.

I had gone to a different OB/ Gyn named John Maxwell. He delivered my first baby, and did not remove all of the placenta. A week later, after several phone calls to his office, I still was heavily bleeding and finally realized I might die despite that office saying it was normal. I also was desperatly trying to nurse the baby- and the La Leche League said the baby was really getting enough milk....only she was not- because I still had placenta. I went back to his office- he said I could 'let nature take it's course' (surely my death) or have an (emergency) DNC....so then the milk came in, but I was left with PID. I went to 5 male OB/GYNS- but they would not listen to me and recommended exploratory surgury and that 'it was all mental'...finally Dr. Sweeney listened to me and perscrbed something- which cleared up the huge pain and agony in about a week!! God only knows what would have happened without this angel of a woman. I love her dearly and can't express highly enough how wonderful she is. Well worth any kind of wait you have to put up with.

Pros: Fabulous and caring doctor, comfortable waiting room, beautiful art in office

Cons: a long drive from my house

I was new to Austin and landed upon this practice while doing some research in setting up my annual exam. I saw Dr. Lydia Sweeney. I arrived for my appointment on time and the receptionist was less than friendly. After being shown to the exam room and asked to disrobe, I talked to an okay nurse or physician's assistant who took my info. Then, I waited well over 45 minutes in a flimsy paper gown, freezing to death, for Dr. Sweeney to make her entrance. She did not apologize for being late. In addition to the normal annual exam I had some other minor gynecologic issue to discuss. Imagine my shock and horror when Dr. Sweeney recommended a hysterectomy for me (I am 38) to resolve something that I know is treatable with less invasive procedures. After picking my jaw up off the floor and her making her exit, I then went to check out, at which point I stood in their back office hallway for 20 minutes while the billing or payment person was on the phone with someone else. I resolved at that point not to go back. But to add insult to injury, I received a bill from them 15 months later (never received ANYTHING over those 15 months) for over $350. They stated that my insurance denied the claim due to waiting period (bogus). When I asked what the $82 handling fee was they were charging on the statement, they replied that it is an extra fee they were charging when insurance didn't cover a claim. So...they charge EXTRA to people whose insurance is not good or not covering? I made her take the charge off my bill. I was also charged for a urinalysis that was never performed.

I've never seen such a tremendous lack of respect for the patient's time, such an abysmal set of office procedures, or such an absolute insult of my intelligence for the doctor to assume that I did not research my problem before coming in and recommend a highly invasive procedure for a minor problem. You couldn't pay me to go back to her if she was the only doctor left in Austin.

Always long waits for appts, long wait times in waiting room, every call has always had problems - they lost the message, they never call back, it's always something. I have spoken to the office mgr at least twice in the last year. Recently scheduled a crisis work-in with the nurse, still waited 2 days for appt, and once we got there, the receptionist told us we weren't in the system and had to come back 5 days later. it was only because I insisted that we very much had an appt and I had even called the nurse to verify the day before, that she got the nurse, and the nurse said, yes, of course you have an appt. (treating me like I was crazy. and the receptionist then argued with the nurse and said she's not in the system! And the nurse said, then put her in there!) The receptionist then blamed the computer and told me she had sent someone home earlier as well. Last week, I called to make an appt for my annual. After 30 minutes on hold, I hung up and "scheduled" an appt via their website. It has been 8 days and I haven't heard back. After 2 yrs of this nonsense, that is the last straw. There have got to be functioning medical offices in Austin. This office needs to fire its staff and get some processes in place.

I had to give this place a star as it does not allow for no star ratings.I would give 0.
New to Austin I did not have the luxury of knowing who was a good doctor. I went online and picked an office close by hoping for the best. I was pregnant with my first baby and wanted someone who was professional but more importantly caring and available if I needed questions answered. This was not just a check up I entrusted them to deliver my baby.

Anyway when I first came in with my husband the receptionist was extremely rude. I found out later that they all are.. very short on the phone and I was shocked at how brusque they are! I would be fired for that attitude. The wait time is at least 35 minutes on a good day. I saw Dr. Abikhaled and she seemed rushed and like she could not get up out of the room fast enough. If they overbook and she was tired maybe I could understand but she was only in the office part time anyway. They often arrive late too so the answering service picks up when they are supposed to be open.

Right before I went to contractions Dr. Abikhaled LEFT THE BUILDING for god knows what and I had to hold in contractions until she returned. PAINFUL. Then after she barely spoke to me in the daily 1 second hospital visit, I was clearly emotional and she just ignored it and breezed out . Not thorough at all. I tried to schedule a post partum visit and they told me she only has a nurse see the patients- she does not even bother to meet them much less examine them. Now what kind of doctor does this? Once the baby is delivered she cannot be bothered. This office has by far been the rudest place I have ever been, shockingly unprofessional and this is compounded by being at the worst time to have that treatment: when you are pregnant, emotional (but I still had realistic expectations) & vulnerable. I wanted to switch several times but was too far along so bit the bullet. Please, PLEASE do not make the same mistake I did.

You will truly regret it.

She came highley recommended. However, she and Dr. Nunnelly misread my sonogram and recommended abnominal hysterectomy surgery. I found her a little arrogant and insensitive. She ruled out less invasive surgery like laproscopic She made the remark to me that women wait to get their "ducks in a row" before they have a hysterectomy. Why wouldn't they? It takes around 6 to 8 weeks to recover, which probably means for most of us lost wages while we can't work. In addition, when I told the nurse that I was going to get another opinion, Dr. Sweeney went ballistic wrote me an angry letter getting on my case for questioning her diagnosis. The next doctor I went to sent to ARA for a sonogram, they gave me instruction on what to do to prepare, which I did not have in Sweeney office. They said that I have fribroids but they were OK. Get a second opinion if anyone in that office recommends major surgery. Women is really arrogant. I might add also, that she cancelled twice on my appointments which she couldn't help but then seem to want to rush me into this. However, she also not very definite saying things like you need to get this as soon as possible but not give me an actual time table. Of course all of this is irrevelant according to the next doctor I didn't need surgery. What really irritated me though was her trying to frighten me into having the surgery, when I was more frighten of the surgery itself. And her trying to discourage me from getting another opinion.
