Before moving away from Waco, I walked into Gym X and talked to management about cancelling my membership. They worked on their computer for 5 min, then said I was clear and good to go.

I moved away from Waco and was still being charged monthly by Gym X. I called this time to let them know I have already cancelled once and I need my membership cancelled. They apologized, said the problem was fixed, and 'cancelled' my membership again.

However, still not cancelled. After a year, I finally had to get my bank involved to help get Gym X to stop charging my credit card. End result, I was charged well over $100 in membership fees AFTER I moved away from Waco.

Gym X...crappy gym...and cost me a lot of money. Don't waste your money there.

This company(specifically the one in Waco, TX) is a complete and utterly horrible excuse for a fitness facility. I began there when it was not contract based and it was still horrible then because they would withdraw money from my account even though I was on a month to month basis and had the choice to cancel and not pay for the next month at any time.

Earlier this year I along with 12 other poor people paid the trainer "hank" and his mail order bride wife $400 because they promised to be my weight loss coaches. This was supposed to be grand! I would have weekly training sessions, specialized diets, very safe medicinal aides and all this was to be done under the care of a specialist doctor.

What a flippin joke?!?! I should have known this was shady...Hank's wife barely spoke English and as soon as I said I was interested she said she couldn't give me more details until i paid her. She immediately took the $400 out my account. Then I was setup for a diet training session and training sessions all to be done by her and her body-builder steroid using husband Hank. In the diet session, there were about 12 people...2 young black girls, a morbidly obese teenager, an outta shape tranny and the rest were 60 years or older. Seems like a hand-picked crowd to me, they preyed on all of us and our moneys. The specialized diet was hand written and horribly so by Hank then photocopied for all of us. He didn't even spell things correctly and had mistakes all over the place. The diet turned out to be a protein-only diet, basically a body builder's diet. And after the meeting we were all forced to buy over priced protein powders, creatine and male hormones from them, they said all these were needed to be "bikini" ready in 6 weeks. My training sessions with "jenny" the escaped Iraqi woman were constantly canceled and were only for 30 minutes which included jenny taking her Bush's cup with her to each of the work out machines. A week into this crap we were scheduled to see a nurse, not a doctor as promised for evals. The nurse was morbidly obese herself, she never weighed me, never asked my allergies to meds or medical history and ate cheese crackers the whole time she drilled me on the importance of the dieting. I was then sent a text message to go pick up medicine from a distant Wal-mart for my Metformin and Albuterol prescriptions. Keep in mind I had never seen this doctor who is apparently out of town name: Dr. Loyce Graham. Hank also told us to not listen to the pharmacists' direction on taking the meds, instead heed his un-informed assed advice on illegal use of this medication. Luckily I researched before i took anything because my migraine medicine does not mix well with this Albuterol.

Basically I pulled out by the end of the first week. Bitched enough to get part of my money back and then was allowed by Gym X to cancel my membership with no additional costs.

Psh! I am still getting letters from lawyers saying that I owe $500 from unpaid membership, I recently called and confronted the manager and she told me that she couldn't control what happened a long time ago and that they are not responsible for their trainers ripping off and running off customers!!! This was not a long time ago...this was the end of February 2010, even if I had paid stupid gym X their $20 a month for membership I would have only paid $120, how they claim that I owe $500 for a canceled membership blows my mind!

Overall this gym is a 5-star piece of $$$$! It's boot leg and will do anything to take your money. I have switched to Gold's and not only do they have more than 3 locations they honor what they say, their trainers are professional and they don't take extra money from you. Golds should be your choice and EFF Gym X!
