THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!
I found out about it on city search and I thought I check it out on my lunch break, & my god! I think their philadelphia rolls are the best in their menu, & they're for $5 a roll!!
I def recommend this place

It's ridiculously cheap and the food is fantastic! The staff there is amazing and they are the sweetest people! I HIGHLY recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet and non-invasive place to have a date or hang out with a few friends.

I'm not sure why the other reviewer says he has a hard time finding good japanese food in Houston, some of the really great Japanese restaurants in Houston are in the Westchase and Memorial areas (freshest sushi in town is just one block west of JW) - I work for a Japanese company and spent 13 weeks over the last 14 months in Chiba, Japan, so I know authentic Japanese food, and Houston is blessed with authentic, good Japanese places.

J.W. Sushi is a great little place to stop in and get sushi to go. Not much of a dining area to speak of, and zero ambiance, but the people who run the place are friendly and the sushi s pretty good for the low price. Is there better sushi in Houston? Tons. Is there cheaper sushi? Besides grocery stores, probably not. Most other places that have sushi at JW's prices aren't quite up to snuff on quality. JW definitely caters to American tastes more than the most authentic places, but JW strikes an excellent balance of budget sushi, and express sushi, that is decent quality.

Pros: Decent quality for budget sushi, fast service, to go available

Cons: Zero ambiance, small seating - best to get sushi to go

This place has great japanese food. James and Amy (not their given names obviously) are a nice couple who provide excellent service and quality japanese food. I spent some years stationed in Japan and until now had a hard time finding good Japanese food in Houston. They are even willing to make me dishes that are not on the menu on request. JW's is a must for anyone who wants some Japanese.

Pros: The Food

Cons: Location, it is on Memorial dr at Tully but difficult to see from Memorial

.

i had a bad sushi craving at work in the Memorial area where sushi places are not plentiful. the service was great, they took my order and the sushi chef made it before my eyes. they packed it up neatly and i took it back to the office. i will say that the maguro sushi was excellent, as was the salmon sushi. the volcano roll sushi was definitely delicious. i would recommend all three. the only thing i found lacking was the rock n roll roll--this is because i am not a fan of sweet sushi, and the sauce was definitely oversweet. the other items and the service made this place good enough for a return visit.
