I feel I have been racially profiled here. I am Hispanic, and I get very poor care at this doctors office. Have told him Dr. and Nurse Practicioners, that I am not responding well to my the prescribed medication. It is not enough and what I mean by that is, I am only aloud 4 hydrocodones (7.5 mg). a day and I need 5, I have been on pain management with other doctors who have put me on Hydrocodone, Oxycontin, Actiq, Phentynl patches, morphine, darvocet, tramadol, methadone, and others to name a few. and this is the first doctor that wont even give me enough of some schedule 2 narcotic, I feel he this doctor does not believe me, he did not talk to me, does not seem the least concerned about my disease, (scheuarmann's disease of the spine, and discogenic disease.) Although in his waiting room, you have caucasian people just as happy and pain free, feeling good and happy waiting for hours, asking me for pain meds at one time. needle point eyes telling other caucasians that the doctor has them on Oxycontin and percadan, for post operative knee joint pain that never went away. While I sit there in agony praying for releaf in my chair. Every one else, of course caucasian people, are happy as larks. Maybe its because I am on workmans comp, and he thinks I am just another mexican trying to stay out of work, and I am not! I am a Respiratory Therapist who has been in the medical field for 17+ years andwas injured preventing a paralyzed veteran from falling on a hard floor. I know how doctors behave when they dont believe some one who is in pain again I have been in the clinical setting for 17 plus years. Saddly in my opinion This is not a doctors office for minorities, still havent seen a black person either working there or as a patient, but all the caucasian people are very nice and pleasant in the office and in the waiting room, and by no means do i imply it is there fault they way this doctor has treated me this might be and isolated incident or other. But this is my story, I am going to give this doctor one last chance for redemption, then I will find another.

      Pros: YOU GET SOME MEDS

      Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE

      .

Often, you can tell how a doctor will treat you by how his staff treats you.Dr Schocket's staff is consistently kind, nurturing, and helpful. As a chronic pain patient, I am frequently hurting and depressed. His staff goes out of their way to make things easy for me and generally help me feel better.
I think Dr. Schocket is an excellent physician and he can be proud of how his staff represents him.
Despite the fact that my case is complicated, he goes out of his way to help me find and try various solutions to my problem. In addition I have never felt "judged" by the fact that I have concurrent a psychiatric disorder. To those of you who are in my position, who have both physical and psychological issues, you understand the importance of being treated with dignity and respect by your doctor. Dr. Schocket does this.

Doctor Schocket is an attentive, dedicated physician with a sensible, good-natured demeanor. He's well informed in matters concerning pain and its origins. He's observant and meticulous when initiating treatment options. Dr. Schocket fosters optimism throughout a sometimes-unrelenting process. He often reminds me to endeavor to persevere. The staff at Capitol Pain Institute is friendly, highly efficient and out-and-out committed in all they do. They are consistent about appointment and procedure reminders and steadfast when following up. It's comforting to work with others who take the treatment of pain seriously, who never shrug it off or give up helping me to live a better life.
