This cleaners is very close to my house and I used them a while back. Unfortunately they do not understand the difference between laundered and dry clean. After they laundered my brand new shirts, I returned them and asked them why they laundered instead of dry cleaned like I asked? they apologized and offered to dry clean them, which i agreed to. When I picked them up again, they had laundered them a SECOND time! I was very unhappy and immediately left never to return.

I forgot to mention that they had accused my wife of telling them to launder and not dry clean the first time. To which he stated he remembered the conversation clearly. Of course the conversation never happened with my wife, ever, I was the only one to ever enter the store!

Stay away from this cleaners, they are horrible at everything they do.

After recently marrying, I took in my wedding dress to AUSTIN CLEANERS be preserved as a keepsake and pass-down for my daughter. Upon pick-up, I stated a concern over the hue change in my dress. Rather than providing good customer service, owner Adam Dartez, accused me of lying and trying to get out of paying the $200 charge, and immediately swiped my card. To make absolute certain before returning to Adam's shop on McNeil/183N, I looked over all my wedding pictures and met with my dress shop owner, Sherry Ayles with Customary Couture in Cedar Park. After a noticeable side-by-side comparison, Sherry called Adam (whom she refers to all her brides) to verify my claim. After that conversation, Adam called me saying to take the dress back to his store to be looked at.

Two days after the mishap, I return to Austin Cleaners with my dress and pictures for additional proof, aside from Sherry's call. After enraging bewilderment from a lack of an owed apology and refund, I finally asked Adam to apologize for his initial disrespect and to refund the $200; it wasn't until then that he actually did so, and began trying to take my dress in to find a solution.Due to lack of trust for Austin Cleaners, my husband and I asked Adam if he would write up a notarized statement mentioning what happened to my dress and what steps were going to be taken to be rectified before handing over my dress to be worked on, and Adam willingly agreed. My husband called Adam the following day to remind him of the notarized statement, and forewarned Adam if failed to do so we would file a claim in Small Claims Court, and he acknowledged and agreed once again.

The day we agreed to do the exchange, I called beforehand to make sure our agreement was still intact. However, the response on the other end was a, literally, whining Adam about having been unsuccessful at the bank, and that he was retracting his promise to provide a notarized statement. I reminded him of the agreement and stated that he had forced me into filing a claim, the response from a legitimate corporate company owner was, "ok fine, if that's the route you want to take."

Luckily, my incident took place post-wedding. And while many out there might make attempts to defend Adam, my complaint is against his immoral conduct professionally--he disrespected, offended, and belittled me throughout the entire ordeal, and he linked it to "having a bad day". The simple facts are his company ruined my wedding dress, not a blouse, nor slacks, My Wedding Dress. And while it might still look nice to some, the point of the matter is the dress was returned to me in an altered state from the initial drop-off--in my eyes the dress is ruined.

So if you want to avoid this sort of nightmare, AVOID AUSTIN CLEANERS.

Pros: you have to pre-pay expensive services...oh wait

Cons: owner practices poor professional conduct

One of my favorite things about Austin Cleaners is the service and atmosphere. Adam, who is the owner, can usually be found at the front counter ready to help when you walk in. I never expect too much from a dry cleaner... I hand you my clothes, you put them in the back, and I come back later to pay. With AC, it has a more 'local' flavor to it, and the staff has personality. The doors are almost always wide open and so you can walk right in. Another point to note is the fact that the cleaning equipment is in plain view right behind the counter. They don't send it off to a remote location like many other cleaners. Last but not least, they do not use PERC and the publicize that fact well. I never knew about PERC before Austin Cleaners, but now that I know, it sets them apart in a big way. Prices are average, but you are looking for the cheapest deal in town, you are going to get what you pay for in quality of pressing and service.

Pros: No PERC, personable, great pressing job

Cons: Too far away from my place

Hi my name is Adam Dartez Owner of Austin Cleaners in Northwest Austin. youknowitnow I am sorry that you felt we gave you sub-par service. I remember the interaction vividly and the only thing was that the wedding dress preservation service takes a while to check in some times over ten minutes (not including any questions brides have about the service, which they usually have lots). There was one customer behind you that was just dropping off (a transaction that only took one-two minutes) so that is why I had asked if it was OK that I helped them really quickly (also because preserving a wedding dress is a big deal for most brides and I didn't want you to feel rushed) In which you said would be fine (if it wasn't I definatly would have helped you first). Again there was only one customer that I helped behind you, not the two that you stated in your review of our cleaners. I understand that you were upset but snobby service? On your yelp review of us, where you slammed us again, you said that I seemed nice at the beginning of the review? You didn't get upset until I told you the price for the service, which is HIGHLY competitive compared to other dry cleaners who preserve wedding dresses as well. Once again I am very sorry you had a bad experince but to call me snobby I feel is a drastic overstatement of the meeting that we had and I feel that many of our other customers would say the same. -Adam

Yesterday was my first time to walk into this place for service, but I ended up leaving. The guy working at the counter was very rude. He pushed me aside to help other people because he said the process for me to hand over my wedding dress for preservation would take a long time." So, I stood there for 5 minutes while he was helping another customer behind me, and then he went on to help the next customer who walked up behind her. I couldn't take it anymore so I left! He acted as if my business was worthless to the store, and was very disrespectful of my time.
