About a year and a half ago I was thrown in jail for ALL sorts of white collar charges. The media and of course my accusers were all making me sound like I was Bernie Madoff without even doing their do diligence otherwise known as responsible journalism. Anyway after sitting in jail then bailed out my family and I immediately started researching criminal attorneys .When I say that we interviewed attorneys I mean we interviewed , from your best of the best to the priciest of the priciest. Money was not an object if it meant I needed to save myself from being locked away. I had to intervene in this process because none of the attorneys that were being considered by my family made me feel confident, I felt that every attorney that was interviewed did not care what so ever and that they looked at us more like a meal ticket or their down payment on their next Mercedes lease. This is when I found Matt Horak , I heard once that when choosing an attorney don't let money be the deciding factor but rather the warm fuzzy feeling in your stomach. Since the day of interviewing Matt I have not regretted this choice. He will always look you in your eye and tell you what it is and not something false. I was scared crazy and I put all my faith in Matt because of who and what he is. I didn't think I would make it out of the case because of all the B.S. my accusers were telling the prosecutors, but it seemed like every time I got scared or developed doubts Matt came in the court room and reminded me of who was right and the wrong. My family and I owe all to Matt and trust me when I say that. He never blinked when the prosecutors came in with their boxes of "evidence" against me . He will in still confidence in you and he will protect you. After a year and half of court rooms and resets and much stress Matt never let me feel or rather felt as if I was going through this alone. My case was dismissed just like he said it would . Let me tell you folks something ...my review is not just a review about some flash in the pan attorney .. this is a true testament to a professional , a man of his word , a really good person and more importantly a friend for life. Matt will always find the time to talk to you and always let you know good , bad or indifferent he tells you how it is. All I know is that he conquered titans for me and while he's out there fighting and using his legal sword all he wants from you is to sit back and let him do his thing. I hope that this review helps you , oh and about the warm fuzzy feeling, when you feel all is lost , go and talk to Matt Horak then you'll know exactly what I was talking about. A few months ago while I sitting in court with my daughter I saw Mr. Horak Questioning this cop about why he stopped his client. He was drilling him pretty good and the cop seemed kind of lost for answers. I was pretty impressed by what I saw of him, but at the time I'd already hired an attorney, When I saw him in the hallway I asked him for a card hoping not to have to use it. Well after a few resets my daughter received deferred adjudication for a P.O.M. charge. About a week and a half later she was arrested again for a theft. I called Mr. Matt Horak because I remembered how aggressive he was a few months prior to this new charge. Well me fearing the worst for my daughter I called on him and he represented my daughter. The outcome was way better than I or my daughter's mother expected. He was able to get her deferred adjudication on both charges to run concurrent, with NO bail set, and also no fine. Mr. Horak is a life saver and we HIGHLY recommend him for any criminal case. Thanx again Mr. Horak, we are FOREVER GRATEFUL. A.F.

Last year, I was charged with the unlawful carrying of a weapon in a prohibited area (despite having a Texas CHL) and possession of armor-piercing ammunition following three belligerent off-duty officers' false accusation against me at an air show (an "honest" mistake for which they never apologized).

After writing down a detailed account of my arrest ordeal, I talked to several attorneys to get a feel for the case-- and to see who was prepared with good ideas. Several lawyers had read my story, but Matt was the only one who explained precisely how he planned to win the case. He showed me, didn't tell me. Other lawyers spoke in generalities, reassuring me that they could have the charges reduced. For all the money, big deal! When your career and freedom are on the line, you want some reassurance that something can be done about it, vague promises will not cut it. And other lawyers' 30+ years of experience, so what if they don't mention their experience in handling similar cases? Matt was much more focused and razor sharp. He didn't waste my time complimenting me about my writing skills or feeling sorry for me or any other "feel good" nonsense. He was all business, and his approach was very refreshing. I hired him on the spot.

My advice, if you get arrested for a crime, is to write down a narrative about the ordeal and to forward that document to attorneys. If an attorney does not set expectations or compliments you about your writing (even once), that's a red flag in my book. If an attorney keeps mentioning a retainer fee (as in he doesn't trust you to pay him), head for the door.

Matt Horak knew exactly how to win before I even entered his office. That's the difference between a good lawyer and a great lawyer.

After being charged with Absconding from Probation in Montgomery County I hired Matt Horack. From the first consultation, to the last day in court I was nothing but satisified. The case was dismissed and Matt proved himself to be a man of his word. The moment he said "If you go to jail they better make room for me" I knew everything would be ok and it was. His fees were reasonable and he was nothing but professional and honest. I hope not to have to hire an attorney in the future but if that time may come Matt Horack is the one to have. HIGHLY RECOMMENED!!

I had two cases filed against me in 3 years, by the same woman whom is my neighbor. The 1st being a Deadly Conduct Misd. and the 2nd being Deadly Conduct Felony. Matt Horak stuck it out with me for 3 years and helped me knock down her false accusations about me and got the first case dismissed. A year after dismissal the 2nd case was pushed through by her, right before the Statute of Limitations, and Matt Horak automatically signed on to help me once again and got this case No Billed. I appreciate the time he put forth in this case and recommend Matt Horak to anyone who needs a fantastic defense attorney.

Matt Horak has represented me in two cases (identity theft and deadly assault) and both were dismissed without any problem. The first case was out of town and he drove four hours to represent me. I really did appreciate his attention and care to both cases. In addition, his prices were very reasonable and affordable. I would not hesitate to contact or recommend him to anyone in the future.

I was accused of aggravated assault on a police officer. This man practically saved my life. I have never had a lawyer before, but i know Matt Horak has to be one of the best in the country. His honesty, assurance of success, knowledge of the field, and his willingness to be where you need him at anytime gives him the edge over any other attorney. My case was won with no problems, and having Matt Horak by my side gave me a since of security throughout the whole situation. I was represented by Matt Horak because of a drug violation. I am in nursing school and could not have this on my record, and to top it off I had to certify by september.... This was a tough case to take on because of the background on it. He at first knew he could do it but wasn't sure he could do it in the time limit... I loved the fact that he didn't sugar coat it. Amazingly enough he had my case dismissed after 2 court dates!!!! He was awesome! I could not have asked for a better lawyer to represent me. I recomend every to him! His reputation helps alot when it comes to getting things done fast! He was well worth the money!!!! If you want a lawyer that sugar coats the truth just to get your case then go with a different lawyer, but if you want a lawyer that will tell you the reality and fight for you, Matt is the guy!!! THANKS AGAIN MATT!!!!!!!!!

I needed help from Matt due to a weapons violation at an airport. This incident could have totally ruined my life. After the initial consultation, Matt assured me that he could get the charges dropped. Oh, how I wanted to believe him! I just wasn't as positive as he was. His comment was" If I can't get this dropped, I need to be mowing lawns". He definitely needs to leave the lawn service to others. He fulfilled his promise to get the charges dropped. He filed a motion with the court to have my pistol returned to me. My pistol has been returned to me. Matt will also be filing the paperwork to have the arrest expunged. This will take a little time, but I have total faith that Matt will make this happen also.
If you find yourself in need of legal assistance, DO NOT HESITATE to call Matt Horak. He states the facts as he sees them, treats you with respect, and doesn't just say things to make you feel better.

I was recommended by a friend to use Matt Horak for my DWI charge. I was extremely grateful that I had him on my side. There are attorneys out there who barely charge anything to defend you and some who charge so much it makes wonder if your going to have to take out a second mortgage. Matt's fees were just right and well worth every cent. Matt is a realist, he came across very calm mannered and extremely professional. Matt met with my family once and I on several occasions in person to discuss my case he was very assertive about every minor detail entailed in my arrest. The case was reset every month for almost a year. When the time finally came he showed he had heart,determination, perseverance and proved to be extremely sharp and well educated in law. The arresting officer took the stand and Matt informed him of laws and legal procedures the officer wasn't even aware of on several occasions during the trial. After we one the case opposing council commended Matt on a job well done and said to Matt "Your a Ninja" nothing gets by you!! he made me proud. I would highly recommend Matt to give it his all and some.

I sought counsel with Matt Horak to represent me in a theft charge just over the summer of 2009. From the first phone call with his assistant, Sally, I felt I was in good hands. Matt was honest, kind, and reassuring in the face of repetitive resets and prosecution delays. Sex Offense Defense: Matt represented me in a juvenile sex offense allegation. From the start he was focused in his approach. The case ran a full year with numerous resets and changes of prosecutors and a very tough judge. Matt was honest with me about the realities and at the same time worked with me in a partnership to build the right defense. He does not have an ego...he has skill when you need it the most. I highly recommend Matt who I now consider a friend and counsel.
