I had a disaster of an ordeal with the lying cheating person who was supposed to do my extentions for my 10 year anniversay marriage renewel in Jamaica She basically left me high and dry and took my money. So I called around to try and find a salon that could get me in.. in a timely fashion. When I called Vertigo I spoke with Erica and she was a heaven sent. She was understanding to what needed to be done and went above and beyond to make sure that I was perfect for before I left for Jamaica. And she even offered to come in on a day they were closed to assist me. It all turned out so wonderfully. She will tell you the truth flat out...and she will listen to and deliver what you want. I will continue to travel to her location because I love her work, and she rocks also!!!

Vertigo Hair is by far the best Salon I have ever been to. For about 5 years I would get my hair done somewhere else and then switch everytime to somewhere different because I would never be satisfied with the turnout. I have long blonde hair that I did not think should be difficult to work with but it was for every salon until I went to Melanie at Vertigo Hair. I have been going for about a year now and would never go anywhere else. She has always done exactly what I wanted and I would trust her opinion about my own hair, which is hard to do with many stylists. The Salon takes great care of you, the staff is all very friendly and none of the stylists rush through your appointment. Your hair is just as important to them as it is to you! I would HIGHLY reccommend Vertigo Hair to everyone!

I've been coming to this salon for about a year and it's the best I've ever encountered! All the people are friendly and they have so much knowledge on hair it's unbelievable! The salon also looks very welcoming in a unique way! I especially like all the paintings and pictures on the walls and what's cool is that they change because you can buy them right off the wall!
Anyway, every time I come in my stylist, Melanie, asks me what I would like to be done to my hair and if I don't have any specifications she comes up with a style i might like. And I always love it! I've never had a miss with Vertigo Hair Concepts ever! :)

My husband and I have been going to Vertigo for about 6 months now. All I can say is that it's the best salon in Houston. The location is great and the environment is very relaxing. Melanie is not only friendly, she always took the time to talk to us about the styles we want and made sure that we love our new hair cut each time. I highly recommend anyone out there to give Melanie a call and schedule your next appointment!!! You won't be disappointed!

Being so new to Houston, I had to scramble to get all my services lined up. My first dentist gouged my gums. Car insurance was a rip off. Haircut ? that was another story. At Vertigo I was greeted at the door and handed a beer ? my salonist, Deah took control and made quick, easy work with my mop and left me feeling pretty good about myself. The shampoo and scalp massage was pretty great, too. Deah has panache and flair, a quick wit and a great vision for what looks good. The folks at Vertigo are relaxed and fun which makes for a good atmosphere to get trimmed up. It?s an easy recommendation ? go to Vertigo, ask for Deah and come out looking sharp.

The hair stylists at Vertigo are some of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of working with. I was organizing a benefit fashion show for a local charity and not only did I love how Deah fixed my hair for the show, she and a coworker James came to the show and helped backstage showing young student hair stylists and designers how to fix their models hair out of the kindness of their hearts! This was the first time we had been able to find a hair salon to come and help our kids backstage and the models were absolutley stunning! I recommend Deah and this salon to anyone interested in great styling and hair cuts. Deah made a great little chignon bun for me that lasted (without any strays or falls) for nearly eight hours and I was also doing physical labor such as putting up pop up tents, she is amazing! This is definately the place to go for everything concerning hair.

Great find in the Montrose area -- quirky and hip without the attitude, reasonable prices for a modern cut. Only downside is that parking can be a little tricky, but that's true of nearly every shop in the area.

I've been getting my hair done with Deah for over four years now and she's been awesome. She always works with me, as I never really know what I want to do with it. However, even with my indecisiveness, she always does it perfectly and I leave the salon ecstatic. Deah's been with me through all my phases, from short to long, and back to short again! We've even been all over the color spectrum, have done funky colors to calmer "work-friendly" highlights, and she always does a great job.

As for the salon, it's super laid-back, with a cool vibe and artwork on the walls. The staff are super friendly, accomodating, and professional, especially when booking appointments. I highly recommend Vertigo to anyone looking for the perfect salon and stylist fit!

I've been seeing Erika for a few years now, and there's nothing that would make me go somewhere else. Erika always knows what will work for my hair and face, and knows how to take my vague descriptions of what I want and turn it into a great hair cut. Everyone I've sent her way goes back. I always get compliments on my hair, usually a couple of times a week! The other thing I love is that what she does (be it color or cut) always grows out well, so if I don't have time to get to the salon right away, I don't look like I've given up on grooming.

The atmosphere is fun and relaxed, and all of the other staff are really friendly.

I have naturally curly/wavy hair, and I had a hard time finding someone who could cut it so it looked good in Houston weather. Erica is definitely that person. I was nervous trying out a new salon and new stylist, but the staff was very friendly and put me at ease. I took in photos and Erica took the time to talk to me about different ways to achieve the style i wanted. It's been a couple of months, but the cut has looked great growing out, and I'm excited about going back for a trim (and that's never happened before). I trust her for a great cut, and i've never done color before, but with her i would give it a try. I'm moving to a different city soon, but i'll be back occasionally just to see Erica.

I completely trust Deah and Erica with my hair cut and color (respectively). The price is reasonable for the quality of service and products used, too. Consistency is most important to me when it comes to my hair. I hate getting a great style one time and not being able to repeat it. Deah, Erica, and James (who does my sister's hair) are consistent with not only me, but my mom and two sisters. I also have never seen anyone leave with bad hair from any stylist either. You wouldn't regret trying them out!

I have never been unhappy with any cut from Deah. I never really know what I want done, but she can give me a cut that looks great and fits me, I trust her with anything she thinks would look good. I think Deah is the greatest stylist anywhere!

I cannot keep track of how many compliments I get on my hair every week. My hair is thin and fine, but Erica does such a good job on the cut and color, it looks thick and gorgeous, and it is easy to style. I have sent numerous friends, of all ages and professions, to Erica, and everyone raves about her and keeps going back. No one can believe how reasonably priced it is. I've been going to Erica for practically her whole career, and I am thrilled that she has opened her own shop, which is dedicated to style, comfort and customer service. Erica keeps me looking young and stylish, and I look forward to the fun, relaxing experience of going to Vertigo and coming out looking fabulous!

Melanie Is my Hair GODDESS! I 1st time I ever coloured my hair was 12yrs ago, and it has only every been in reds, different reds, but only reds. I have been with Mel for about 4yrs now, and she is the only person I go to. I always receive compliments from my friend and strangers on my hair. I know Mel I will be 80 with Red highlights, but THEY ROCK!!! I think my man loves the colour more. Oh and did I mention my hair cuts always ROCK! i love them everytime I go to Mel.....

I've been Melanie's client for almost 7 years and have faithfully followed her everywhere, so i was so happy when she finally opened up her own place! She's always done such great highlights and haircuts on me. I have been going to Melanie for a few years now. She is one of the best I have every seen with color and cuts. She always tells me her opinions - which I find very important and isn't afraid to offer new things to try. I have been to stylists that just want to do the same cookie cutter look every single time.
She has done highlights and low lights and is always very nice and is rarely late! She is normally very close to schedule. I have recommended her to friends that have felt the same way that I do about her. I have also gone to Erika in a pinch and she is also excellent. The salon is cute and more peaceful then some of the larger salons. You can have conversation and relax! I would recommened Vertigo and MELANIE to anyone!!!!

I'm a guy with hard hair to cut because it's course and straight, and I have a hard time getting it to lay flat! So I've searched all over Houston to find someone who was patient enough to talk to me about my hair and who was willing to take their time to cut it. I was recommended by one of my friends ( who's just as picky as I am) to try Melanie at Vertigo. I ended up with a great cut that's easy to style.

I got hair extensions for the first time back in late December (just before New Years). I had been considering hair extensions for a while and finally decided to give it a try. I did not really know what to expect and did not know how long they would last. It is now May (5 months later), and they still look great, look very natural, and have quite easy to maintain. I am looking forward to getting my next set put in and will most definately go back to Melany to put them in. She did such a great job, really informed me about the proper care routine, and matched them perfectly to my natural hair color! I highly recommend this Salon for hair extensions. They use very high quality products.

First let me start off by saying every one at Vertigo is always friendly and smiling. It doesn't matter how slow or busy they are, they make you feel well attended to. Now, down to the important stuff! Deah is by far the most talented stylist I have ever been to. We all know how humid and horrible Houston weather can be. I just have to brag about the fact that I have not touched or even looked at my flat iron since my last cut. She is truly amazing! My style is easy to maintain and I am able to keep my hair looking as good as it did when she finished.

I have been going to Melanie for over 5 years now. She does the most amazing hightlights. She blends them so perfectly with my hair that I can go 2-3 times a year and you can not see the highlights growing out. She also did my hair and makeup for my bridal portrait. Once again she did an amazing job. I would not trust my hair with anyone else!

I've been going to Deah for almost 4 years now!! Ever since she's cut my hair I will never let another peron cut it. She knows exactly what to do and she's extremely creative. If you're going to another salon.. than you're an idiot, she's way more impressive with her techniques and she's so easy to get along with.. She's absolutely fabulous!! I've reffered my family and friends to her and everyone of them are blown away with their new looks and style. You people need to get off your dead butt's and ditch your old hairstylist ASAP and book with her!!! Once you've had your expirence with Deah you'll never return to your old stylist... It's a new year people GO FOR IT !!! =)

James is a great stylist. He is the third one I've tried since moving to Houston from California about a year and a half ago. I was looking for a hip salon, a stylist who could give me a high-end cut for a reasonable price, and someone who would be fun to chat with for an hour. I'm so glad I found James at Vertigo. I really like the way he does the detail work part of my cut after drying my hair, and I also really appreciate that he taught me how to style it myself -- he's the first person who has ever been able to really teach me how to do this. As my hair grows out after each appointment I can tell that a lot of skill went into the cut -- it just seems to fall where it's supposed to. He also gives a massage-like shampoo, and he's very easy going so it's an overall relaxing experience. I've recommended James to several friends, and everyone who has gone to him has returned or is planning to and has also recommended him to others.

Melanie does the best hair extensions! I am a hair extension pro i have been wearing them for several years now and hair dreams are the best yet. I have tried every hair extension brand out there including great lengths. but none of them even come close to hair dreams. They don't shed like other extensions and the quality of hair is amazing. They can be reused so they are a better investment as well. I am going on vacation in Mexico and am so glad i went to melanie to get my hair done before hand. I have never been happier. now i will have the best hair in mexico!

I have been to Deah at Vertigo three times. Each time she has impressed me. She is super cute and stylish (which is good as no one wants to get their hair cut by someone dressed like they shop at Wal-Mart) and she's not pretentious at all. She makes you feel welcome, listens to what you want, gives you suggestions, and then gives you an awesome hair cut. Everyone I've encountered at the salon is very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. I would recommend Deah to any and all of my friends.

I usually pay around $85 to $100 to have my medium hair colored (foil weave), and I have always been happy with the results - never brassy with red or orange tones which I hate! Don't we all? I went to Vertigo due to the location, and expected to at least get a decent color. I was so shocked to see my hair look so cheap and brassy. I said something to my stylist, and she said that she would take better care of it NEXT TIME I came in. What next time? Then to add insult to my injury, she charged me $200. When my co-workers saw my hair the next day, they couldn't believe what a poor job they did on my hair. I felt so bad that I called my other stylist and he came to my rescue and fixed her flub...and he corrected it for FREE. He got it perfect. I did get a good style (not cut) while I was there, so that part was good. I wouldn't go here for blonde hair unless you like orange, brassy or strawberry blonde hair, and you don't mind spending over $1000 a year on your color. There are too many great salons in Houston that are much more reasonable. Think twice before making your appointment here.

Almost 3 months ago, I got hair extensions put in by Deah. I waited to write this review to make sure they would last. Summing it up - they look AMAZING! They are very natural and blend in perfectly with my hair color. I just went in the other day to have Deah look at them and I apparently can keep them in a couple of more months! I wish I had done this a long time ago! I've always wanted long, full hair - but would always get it chopped off when it was in between stages. They use real hair and attach it with some kind of space age nylon binding all over your head. It's attached really, really well and feels great - you can yank it, flip it, pull it, whip it (I sound rather violent, don't I?) Anyhoo, they are in there tight - the whole process takes a few hours, so be prepared. They will give you a glass of wine (or a few) if you want to pass the time with a nice buzz! The rocking gals at Vertigo have a good time there and they'll make sure you do as well! I'm really thrilled I decided to get these extensions - it's silly and hilarious and totally vain, but life is too damn short for me to waste my time growing hair out.

I'm from California, and I was in town for a few weeks on business. I wear extensions and really needed some work done to them. I saw the review in citysearch for Vertigo Hair Concepts about extensions. I decided to give them a call. They were wonderful!! I went to Erica and she was so nice and friendly and had a GREAT sense of humor. Oh, and she did the BEST job with my extensions. I had some rattyness going on with my old extensions. Erica put in new Hair Dreams extensions and took out the old, and now I feel like a movie star! They are so BEAUTIFUL and the hair is 100% real! I've had it in for about a month now and I have no complaints. Luckily, I will be in Houston again next week, and will go to Erica for some maintence. These extensions don't require much maintence the hair looks like it did when I first got them put in, but I just want to go back and say hi to the girls. They treated me like royalty there! I was so surprised. I can't get this type of service from the west coast! I feel like a new person with my hair and my boyfriend absolutely loves them! He can't stop running his fingers through my hair! I think he's going to have to see Erica as well so he can leave my hair alone! haha! J/k! Thanks again Erica!

As a fine and wavy-haired person with hair trouble, Melanie has done some wonderful things. During my first visit with her, she actually sat down with me and learned about my hair's history; highlights, cuts, old stylists, etc. She is really great at working with all lengths and textures of hair and helped me to improve the overall health of mine. I really appreciated her learning so much about my hair.

She's also done my highlights-- the best highlighting job I've ever had done. She used high and low lights to give my hair the depth and shine it needed! Combining that with her haircut, my hair looked amazing! I would definitely recommend Vertigo, and especially Melanie! She really cares about how great you feel and look!

Since moving here 10 years ago I have been all over Houston and Dallas trying to get the right blonde colorist - I found a guy a few years ago who was adequate but he moved to LA. I went to Melanie at Vertigo at the suggestion of a friend who gets her hair cut there - let me tell you this color is absolutely amazing! Perfect baby beige blond with no red, orange or brass and just the right amount of highlights. I'm hooked! I get compliments from complete strangers at least once a day now on my hair - the salon itself is small and funky with a great set of very experienced stylists - I feel like I've stumbled upon a precious jewel in montrose...

Vertigo Hair Concepts is the best salon I've ever been to. It's so hard to find a good stylist and/or a place you feel comfortable returning to. The stylists are down to earth, funny, relaxed, and they take their jobs seriously. They take the utmost pride in their work and really want their customers to be satisfied. Each stylist is highly qualified in their field and they continually look for ways to be even better.

From cuts to extenstions and color correction - they do it all. I used to drive over an hour to come to thier salon! It's much more convienent now that I live in Houston.

They are competitively priced and offer top end products. Parking is limited, but I've never had a problem any time I've gone.

Try them out - you'll be hooked.

I went into the salon with an open mine and was so disappointed . I asked Erica for a certain cut and I walked out of there with a totally different haircut. I had to go somewhere else to get it fixed. I don?t recommend this place.

Melanie has done my hair for 3 years now. She does amazing color and gives great styles. She also did my hair and make-up for my wedding and it turned out gorgeous. I've gone to Erica for 7 years. She's the best hairstylist out there! I've NEVER went home disappointed! She cut my hair 7 years ago, and I've worn it short ever since. I've been every hair color, and had every hair style. I decided that I wanted extensions. She did such an amazing job! My hair was above my shoulders, and she managed to blend my hair with the extensions perfectly! She matched my multi-colored hair color too. I'm dark brown and blonde, and you can't tell where the extensions start and where my hair ends. Oh ,did I mention that I got the 18 inch extensions. I like the dramatic looks. Erica is the best of the best! Vertigo is such an awesome salon, and the ladies are FINE! I always have a balst when I go there, and they always make you feel right at home. I would recommend this place to everyone. So if you are thinking about getting extensions, and I would definetly recommend it because they are soooo awesome and fun, go to Erica! She did such an amazing job, and I've had sooo many compliments. I'm really happy I went with the extensions. 100% human hair! No artificals. It lasts a lot longer and is oh so beautiful! =)

I went to Deah after reading the reviews on Citysearch - I can see why she has so many loyal customers! I had some idea what I wanted, but Deah tailored the cut for my face shape and hair type. She spent so much time with me and never made me feel rushed. I left Vertigo with a haircut that I am in love with! The cut was so great the my niece made an appt. on the spot to let Deah take about 16 inches off her hair - she looks great, too. The salon is very cute and fun, too. Thank you, Deah!

Melanie has been doing a wonderful job with my color for several years. This time she looked at the pictures of questionable quality I brought and gave me a great cut as well. A few days later I went to a family function and nearly everyone there and since has raved about both the cut and the color. Melanie even stuck around on a stormy, flooding day to make sure I got what I needed! Definitely perfer the understated, funky environment of the new place. Check them out.

I was recommended to Melanie by another blond friend two years ago and have been going to her ever since. My job requires a lot of traveling, and I swear that from New York to California, no one can do the blond color that I like except Melanie. I'm very particular about the different shades of blond in my hair and Melanie gets it right every time. I have another stylist that I use in California that comes close, but she doesn't cut hair. And that's why I love Melanie. She does it all from color to cut to make-up. I've even had her put hair and eyelash extensions on me. I have been going to Erica for over 3 years now and there is no one out there who does it better! Trust me there is no crying when you leave this salon. In fact the only crying you will be doing is from the laughter of the conversation!! She is the best and we have done all sorts of color, tried all sorts of cuts and I let her do whatever she wants because it ALWAYS looks good no matter what it is. The girl knows hair, knows color and knows what I like. SHE IS A HAIR GODESS!!! The new salon is great, in a good location, fun and friendly. Did I mention that they have a really great logo design too...

If you are particular about your hair color and can trust in your stylist I would definitely go to Erica. I have been with her for 3 years and recently changed my hair color from blonde to brunette. She always has great ideas. The compliments that I continue to receive on my hair are wonderful. Not to mention the great atmosphere while you are getting it done! Whether you want a glass of wine to wind down from the day or "set up" with one of their clients...go here and you are sure to love everything about them! I also like all of the staff's honest opinions, they are a great team!

I first saw Melanie to do my hair and makeup for my wedding day. Everything was flawless for my perfect day! I could not ask to look any better plus by the end of the night I still looked great! If you are wanting to look great for any occassion Melanie is the person you need to see.

Since then I have been seeing Melanie for all my cuts color ect. I change my hair so often and Melenie has such a great eye of sytles that look good on you! She is very patient with each of her clients and takes great pride in her work and keeping customers happy.

Since I've been going to Melanie for years now for various hair services and she understands my hair like no other, I did not hesitate to follow her to her new salon-Vertigo. Melanie and the rest of the staff are friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about their business. You don't feel like they try to rush you through so they can get to the next client. Congrats to Melanie and everyone at Vertigo for opening a salon that stands out above the rest!

I have been going to Melanie since I moved to the Houston area a few years ago. A few times I have been out of town and have gone elsewhere to get my hair done in an "emergency situation". I have never found anyone that does my hair the way Melanie does. She is so creative and knows exactly what will look right with my complexion and hair type. I trust her completely and would recommend her to anyone!
