Decorations were done on what appeared to be a limited budget. But my main interest is great food. This is the best BBQ ever. Ribs, brisket, pulled pork, links all delicious. My husband and I were very sad to see Dave close. BUT,

I really need to start using Citysearch more because this restaurant received a good rating on another web site which I will leave nameless as not to disparage people from using them. First, it took me over an hour to find the place because the address did not say west so I couldn??t find it. I Dave??s and asked them for directions and they had no clue where I was even though I was on FM 1960, but that didn??t stop me from trying some of the best BBQ in Houston or so I thought. When I got to the restaurant the decorum was absolutely atrocious, I couldn??t believe my eyes, the place should be called run down shack instead of Dave??s Shack. If you put aside the poor lighting and the hand written menus on the wall you would be hard pressed to put aside the filthy restrooms. I am a food connoisseur who loves to enjoy a good meal and when I go to a new restaurant I tend to order a buffet of items to get a feel of the restaurant. I ordered the pork ribs, baby back ribs and half a chicken. I also asked for a sample of potato salad because I know how hard it is to get good potato salad. The potato salad was horrific; it was so bad I couldn??t finish the sample. I noticed they were getting a delivery of wood for their smokers and to tell you the truth the ribs and chicken tasted like the wood. It had a smoky after taste that made my stomach upset. It was so bad I couldn??t finish all that food I brought?it went into the garbage which is something I hate to do. Overall I do not recommend Dave??s Rib Shack and I regret spending my vacation hours going.

Pros: Starting taste of pork ribs

Cons: Ending taste of pork ribs, restrooms, potatoe salad

This is a great family owned business. The food is wonderful. You can always see the owner outside waving at people and inviting them in. If you love ribs, you need to check them out.

Bad customer service and questionable food.
I Purchased Ribs and baby backs, both were what I felt were brunt. The sort of tasted like lighter fluid or liquid smoke. (I later learned that too much smoke will give meat that flavor). Anyway I called and said the above and asked what he can do. Dave said nothing; you are just not used to my type of meat. I said, I am a customer, you should at least give me something else or half of my money back. I have the meat, to give back, never eaten. Although you can not sell it again, you can see I am not lying. He said no. A lady called me back and offers half of the purchase back in Links and Brisket. I accepted. Then she called back and said Dave changed his mind and does not want to give me anything. I was floored...WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS IS THAT? TO CALL BACK AND CHANGE AN AGREEMENT TO SETTLE.

Running a business is not always about winning. Dave has to understand that a customer sometimes does not agree with prices, service or taste and as an owner you need to try to work with the customer and see if you can make them somewhat happy. I think me accepting of the $30 in cash I gave him, in $15 dollars of links/brisket was me being more than reasonable. I filed with the better business place and only hope that Dave did not fire the lady for trying to help me. Just to make this clear, I never curse at people nor try to tell someone how to run their operation. I respectful but voice my thoughts. I suggest you be careful before patronizing this place.
