Our nite last nite..... Our very first visit to Grooves. We arrive for a Birthday party for my wife's cousin, we got there around Happy Hour. After speaking to the hostess we find out there is no reservation for a very large party.(very odd). We have the hostess seat us at a table. I have never been somewhere where I have felt so crowded. People are standing all around us as we sit, they might as well of been sitting with us. We wait 45 mins to an hour for the waitress to cash out. But this is what really takes the cake. We had decided we were leaving, as we were waiting for our waitress, a hostess comes up to us and says "the table we werfe sitting at was reserved for 9:30 and the couple who reserved it had arrived. she then preceeds to tell us that she was about to sit them, basically, we need to get up and remove ourselves from the table now. As we are leaving I tell the hostess i have ever been anywhere in my life this has happened, she then tells us with attitude, we can stay at our table and that we dont have to leave.......Make up your mind.......the music was very nice, the atmosphere was lovely, however the menu had maybe six things and expensive as a 5 star restaraunt and the quality of McDonalds in Mexico. The waitstaff pay no attention to their customers. (should of done a dine and dash) the overall experience I would say is a star and a half maybe two. and that is only because 97.9 had the dancefloor jumping and the ambiance of the club as far as setting was very nice. My recommendation for Grooves would be Fire the staff, hire someone with an educational level beyond a 3d grade spelling bee, and get a menu that actually represents an upscale club. (meaning how do you order Habenero Wings and they are not even HOT)
if you are going out for dancing only and plan on going to the bar yourself to get your drinks and you like a staff of ghetto fabulous women that are standing around dancing instead of working, this is the SPOT.

Pros: Music was the best Ol' School around

Cons: what is not the downfall

The first time I went here, I had a horrible experience. First of all, you either pay $5 to self park or $10 to valet. That's kind of not fair. I had gone out for a little girls night with a couple other girls. We could not find a single table to sit at. All the dinner tables were reserved and the bar tables were all taken. After about an hour of standing, we finally managed to get a table. After about another hour, we finally got some water. After waiting for about 30 minutes and still no offer to take our food order, I had to ask the bartender to take our order. It was just horrible, horrible customer service.
Call me stupid, but I went a second time with my husband for a dinner date. I thougth making a reservation the second time around would be better. But after we were seated and waited for about 10 minutes, we experienced no help once again. No one came to offer us water or any drinks or take our order. On top of that, the music was blasting so loud, my husband and I could not even hear each other speak. It was only 8:30 and the DJ wanted the place to sound like a club while people were just walking in for dinner. I do not recommend Grooves, especially if you want to dine.

me & some friends came to grooves last week for a party. the food was good. some of my friends order dinner they did'n have the chicken pasta on the menu but the guy with the dreads said he would make it. to make a long story short we ended up eating off her plate and order like 3 more pastas. my server was Mary! she looked like she was not going to be able to handle the order but she did a outstanding job and the cook with dreads. but this is not the first time we heard he can cook! I will recommend you guys to my friends.

I went to Grooves after a group of friends decided they were going and I decided to tag along. I called before and asked for a manager. I spoke with Calvin and Brooklyn and together they answered all of my questions **I wrote them down so I had an extensive list** They were extremely patient and helpful. When we came in that night I paid the cake fee for my cake, they had already explained because they were a restaurant they didn't allow any outside food. I pre-ordered appetizers for my group to prevent everyone from having to order entrees. After dinner I asked for a manager and was greated by Calvin whom I thanked for making our party a night to remember. Afterwords when our bill came he offered us complimentary drink cards to use on our next visit.

Even when dinner was over we were able to stay at the table as long as we continued to order. Our waitress was the best and kept us updated all night on the status of our food and drinks.

Everyone has different experinces as I read through the reviews but I just wanted to share my experience. I know you can't walk in to a new restaurant you've never been to and expect for it to be like every other place in town.

Pros: Best Catfish in Town

I had a birthday party there on Nov 13, 2009. I had a very good experience. The service was good. My reservations went well also. The staff went well and beyond the call of duty. Our server was named Michael. He catered to me and my guest with 5 star service. My drinks kept coming and my food for my guest was off the chain. I enjoyed the music by 97.9 they had us on the floor the whole time. I'm looking forward to giving another party there. Those who couldn't make my party you really missed out!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: The Cook with twist in his head!

Cons: Management!

Went there expecting a restaurant atmosphere and instead it was a nightclub environment. This is a hangout place for the young hip hop crowd - great for that - not sophisticated at all.

Pros: Cool Building

To cosign with the other reviews, this place was absolutely horrible. This was our 2nd time there. Over a 2 hour wait for food, drinks never came and management's idea of "fixing" it was to give us $10 off...(She smelled like she had been smoking when she finally came to the table.)

Never again.

I went once with the University of Houston Men's Basketball team. The food was excellent, and the jazz music was relaxing. We did not stay too long, because we had a game. I would love to go back when I get the time and money.

My husband and I got there at 8PM. We parked in handicap (I have a decal that I obtained legitimately). We were told that we would have to pay $20 to park in the lot, even with a handicap decal. We enter and are eventually seated. We did not have a reservation but I told the hostess that we would be a group of 7 so she eventually seated us.

We were seated at two tables pushed together. One table was uneven, shaky. It had a cloth napkin underneath it but it was not working so my husband put another cloth napking under the shaky leg.

We ordered a Tanqueray & tonic and a Grey Goose and tonic. The drinks tasted funny (they cost $9 each) so I asked the waitress to take mine back and get a better one. My husband later figured out why the drinks were bad: They had given us soda water instead of tonic water. He told the waitress but she said the bartender said he made the drinks right. We also ordered appetizers, which when we finally received them were mediocre at best.

The rest of our party arrived at nearly 9PM. It tooks so long for the waitress to come back to our table that two people in our group went to the bar to get their drinks. When one of the guys received his beer, it was warm.

I don't know if they sould system was the band's or if it belonged to Grooves. It was so loud that my head began to hurt. Everyone at our table commented on the loudness. I was so glad when intermission time arrived.

The owners of the club must know that this place needs some serious tweaking. It is not the upscale establishment that I had been led to believe. I will never return to Grooves.

Over the weekend I invited my friend from St. Louis out for brunch at Grooves, it was me and my fiance` and her and her friend. We got there before my friend did and the lady at the front kept offering us the drink specials $5 endless Mimosas, etc so we thought why not. Then she kept asking us if we were going to eat and I informed her I was waiting on a friend. I asked her if it was going to get packed or something if there was a reason we should make our plates asap when we were the only ones there. She said it gets really packed and I figured she was right after all the brunch was advertised as $8.00. My friend arrived and we ate it was a buffet style menu. The food was good but nothing spectacular no real breakfast food just lunch, no seafood or anything only chicken gumbo (which I have never heard of in my life) and dessert was a fruit tray. We had to ask them to take our plates before we could get more food so we would have room to eat and they left a pitcher of mimosas so we served ourselves. Before we asked for it the somone dropped our ticket off and the bill was $100.00!!!! They charged us $17.99 for each brunch and over $20.00 in gratuity, I got nothing accomplished when I talked to management I was told once you touch the plate you have to pay for it, I suppose these people would act the same way if there was hair in your food. They also claimed never to advertise their brunch with prices like those I can see why they wouldn't. The place never got crowded like the lady said it would and it was a terrible experience all the way around. I don't pay $18.00 for buffets when I'm on vacation, there was no seafood or gourmet food that would have made the price acceptable. Brunch was supposed to be from 11 am- 4pm and they definitely closed the buffet line at 3:00pm and whole hour early we were there for an hour and fiftteen minutes and came out with $100 bill. The WORST PLACE EVER I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THEIR HARD PRESSED FOR CASH BECAUSE ON THEIR WEB SITE IS SHUT DOWN BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T PAID THE DEVELOPER!!!!

I like the fact that it was classy and the food was inexpensative and good. There Reservation process and procedures make a lot of people unhappy. If you don't have a reservation you might not get a seat. The bar area is very small. If a customer is pending money let them sit down

The ladies at the door wanna be so classy when there not. If your not a man then they don't want to help. They are the most unprofessional service I have ever seen. To be classy they need to evaluated the individuals at the door. Another issue this place of business have is no one gives a straight answer when trying to book a party, I have never heard of charging a cake fee when you have paid them for a party. Wtf is that all about. There are too many chiefs in the front when they should be helping the wait staff.

AS MANY OTHER REVIEWS THE MANAGEMENT IS
VERY BAD.
I MADE ARRAGEMENTS WITH FREINDS
TO GO AND SUPPORT THE LIVE BAND JP MILES & THE MILES OF SOUL BAND ON TWO OCASIONS.
THE MANAEMENT CANCELED HER ON MAY 2,09, MAY,16 09 WITH LESS THAN A WEEK NOTICE. THANK GOD I RECEIVED AN TEXT FROM JP LETTING ME KNOW , BECAUSE I HAD 20 PEOPLE COMING TO GROOVES BECAUSE OF JP
NOT THE FOOD, BECAUSE IT'S NOT GOOD, NOR IS THE SERVICS.
JP MILES IS GREAT,AND PROFESSIONAL AND
DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE TREATED THIS WAY.
SHE SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR THE CANCELCED DATED IN FULL

I had my 32nd Birthday Party at Grooves on Saturday, March 28th. Before arriving, my waitress for the night called to confirm my reservations and was very polite over the phone. At that time, I felt more confident about my event inspite of the negative reviews that had been posted in the past.
When we arrived at Grooves I was soooo impressed with the courteous staff and the relaxing environment. We were given two wonderful waitresses who waited on us the entire night. For eating purposes, we had a variety of everything on the menu and everyone loved what they had ordered. I had an approximate total of 30-35 guest and no complaints at all. Now that's great customer service. The bacon wrapped shrimp were to die for!!!! While eating we all enjoyed the live entertainment!!!
After the live entertainment the party got started. Oh, my God the DJ was greatest!!!! From 9:15 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. we were treated like royalty by all staff members, including management.
I will recommend this spot to anyone who is down to earth and looking for a good time. It really felt good to be in an atmosphere that was fun, without any drama or fighting. Thanks to all of the staff at Grooves!!!!

This is the most unprofessional group of people I have ever had the displeasure of working with. I was attempting to arrange a congratulatory party for a friend of mine and 18 of her guest. I called a month before and made the reservation for drinks, appetizers and dinner for 20 people and was told that my reservation was confirmed and the only stipulation was that I wasn't able to bring balloons. I sent out invitations and thought that this meant that everything was okay.

A week before the party, I received a voice message from "Brooke" who told me that there was some type of mistake and that they were booked for the evening of my party. I immediately called her back and was told that she was busy and would call me back the next day. After not hearing from her the next day, I called back and spoke to Tonya. I explained the situation to her and she said that she didn't know why Brooke told me that. Tonya said that she would speak with Brooke, and call me back, but since I had already sent out the invitations, they would definitely be able to accommodate my party. Again, I didn't receive a call back from Tonya. I called again three days before the event and was told that there wasn't a reservation for me or my party.

Needless to say by this time I was quite upset. I explained my situation again, this time to Shatara. She told me that she would work something out and call me back. She did call me back, and explained that they would accommodate us, but we would only be able to stay in our area for two hours and would be asked to move if we didn't start "bottle service" (which she estimated at 250 for a bottle of Grey Goose). First of all, I am not cheap, but if I am paying for appetizers for 20 people and these people are buying dinner and paying for drinks (and don't forget the 15% added gratuity), we would have spent well above 250 dollars. I didn't understand why we had to spend an additional 250 just to stay in our place. Needless to say, I decided to cancel my function and have it at another venue.

When I called and explained the situation, the manager at the new venue guessed which establishment I was speaking about before I even told him ... he said that they have hosted several parties due to the non professionalism of Groove's staff.

STAY AWAY. IT IS FAR FROM THE CLASSY ESTABLISHMENT IT PROFESSES TO BE!!!!

My god sunday was the best we`ve ever had at Grooves. well a classmate told me about grooves and i`ve been there last year me and some friends. the food was ok but was not good enough to say we`ll return! so we wanted to go somewhere sunday just to chill and eat, a friend said they heard that the food was good at grooves! so we told him that we been there before it`s not that good! but we ended up at grooves anyway just to show him. but we came in and the place was pack! something must be good because everybody is eating. so we sat down and got drinks for a older guy, i think his name was keith. very cute man!! but we ate, and the food was outstanding! we stayed and tried everything and it was great, we enjoyed grooves this sunday and will return again! great job grooves.

It was my birthday and I scheduled a party there for the weekend on 02/19. I reserved three booths-4 weeks in advance. The night of, we arrived and one of the booths were taken by people who didn't even have reservations. They allowed us two other booths and told us we could have a third IF the people ever leave. Ok, so 30-45 mins pass and no WAITRESS/WAITER ever shows up so I go over to find a manager. I tell them that my guest need additional seating and we would like to order a drink or something. Was told that they would send someone-another 30 mins pass and finally a waitress comes to take our dinner and drink order. Booth 1 had Waitress A and Booth 2 had Waitress B. After the order were taken, we were finally moved to a table that sat at least 25 people.

After 45 mins, still no drinks or food. We ask the manager again and she goes to check and comes back with a some drinks in a pitcher that she "made up" herself to ease our anguish of not having food or drinks. 30 mins goes by still no food or drinks. We ask the waitress, she says apparently everyone put in their tickets at the same time causing everything to be behind. Finally Booth 2 receivd their food. NOONE received any drinks.

After another agonizing 30 mins every1 received drinks but those residing in BOOTH 1 never received food. Apparently the waitress forgot to put the order in. It was the most unprofessional, unorganized environment. People are standing everywhere. Even if you have reservations, there are people just hoovering around you, your table, your food. There is no control and it was an absolute nightmare. Im all about support but they are NOT as new as people are indicating as I was there last year for my birthday as well as the service was better LAST year than this yr. So, needless to say I will NOT be going back again because it was ridicolous. Some of my guest left after not getting food because they were hungry and I the bday girl ate JACK IN BOX after leaving Grooves damn shame

My wife and i came to grooves on valentines day. and man when i say it was set up so nice we loved it soon as we step inside. but when i looked at the cooks line and the size of the dining area i knew the food was going to be a very long time. everyone showed up at the same time so i know all food orders was put in at the same time. but i think they did a good job getting the food out. but they can use more help. now this was our first time every coming to grooves,we been heard about this spot. we heard the catfish, steaks,,salmon and burgers were the best. and it is the best! now let`s keep in mind that this is a fairly new restaurant so it will have alot of faults. most new restaurants never make it but these guys are doing the best to keep things going i see. but over all we enjoyed our night at grooves, dancing to the live band! this place will be thee spot soon just work with`em. i see all the bad talk of this place but it will stop.

Cons: needs a little more work.

Where do I start?????? The food was good but a little over priced for my taste. The service was damn right awful. My girlfriend was very upset that the waitress never came back to the table with the check. They took all day making our drinks. When they messed up one of my girlfriend's drink order, they did not want to remake the drink (still charged her for the drink even though she sent it back). The next time we plan a happy hour event, we will not pick this place again.

This place could use better managers to get where they should be! our team visit the restaurant and finds plenty of no leadershipp, a lack of management and very poor service! we requested a manager of the restaurant and no one was on site, the worst mistake a restaurant can make! someone has to be there at ALL TIMES FROM OPEN TO CLOSE!! FROM GM`s TO RESTAURANT MANAGERS! a 2nd team went to the restaurant at a later period and fonud the same service, no management and poor service. we agreed the food was great but could not enjoy the dining exp. because of the nightlife (clubseen) in a fine dining restaurant. there should be hours set for your dining and hours set for your late comers. this would not effect your restaurant and be mistaken for a club. HINTS, lower prices. small portions of food at high prices is not a good choice in a new restaurant! in fact it could destroy a restaurant. the food is great but too high for a small amount.

I ignored all the negative comments and decided to try this place for myself. They should be shut down for
horrible service and sub-par food. Our waiter had to be hunted down all evening. Our party of 8 received their entrees one at a time at least 30 minutes apart. The management could not be located. The bartenders kept us waiting endlessly for our drink orders. Some food was tasty, others cold and bland. I am in total disbelief that this place is still open. It is sad that blacks try to support any black owned establishment and they are treated with disdain. I am certain the owners know they are ripping people off but do not care because they are making money off of innocent people. The tables remain dirty when someone leaves. I will proclaim the atrocities of this establishment to everyone who will listen. Please do not support this place, they do not care about customer service. I hate to think about what's going on in the kitchen since everything else is so poorly managed. Save yourself, eat at a reputable place with good service and if you want live music, go to a concert or anyplace but here. This place is a joke!

The first time I went to Grooves was a Saturday night. The live band was great and it wasn't too crowded. I thought the drinks were overpriced but they were good. The DJ that took over later that night was the bomb! He played a mixture of current music and old school rap and slow jams. My friends and I had a great time! We decided to go back on a Friday on the suggestion of one of the waitresses for the drink specials. We were told to get there early. We arrived at 7:30 and it was PACKED! We ended up having to get a table and "forced" to order from the very limited high priced menu. Whatever! Our waiter... couldn't be found the entire night but had the nerve to get mad whenever we went to the bar to order drinks. The DJ was the bomb! I danced so much I had to ice my knees the next day. But I would rather go on a Saturday where it's not so crowded.

Pros: Music, atmosphere

Cons: Food, prices

.

My first experience with Grooves was Ok. I came in for happy hour only to find the prices, didn?t make me happy. The ambience was very nice but that was it. I also came on another to have an ?upscale? outing with my family. In critique of this restaurant, I would label it CONFUSED. There is no way to create an upscale restaurant, if they keep this up. When my family and I came to eat, we expected to have a nice dinner, only to find tacked on fees for sitting in a booth, parking fees, and music that utterly ruined my appetite. At around nine or so, they turn the lights down and the music up. As I was eating my T-bone steak, I had to digest it to the sounds of (Buss that P**** Open) with crowds hovering over our space dancing and disturbing us. Drinks are usually 9$ and up, the food is overpriced for the amount you get, and the whole place seems to be in total chaos. The look seems to be very elegant, attracting an older crowd, but is truly a night club by night. I really hope Grooves gets its act together because the cliental its attracting is dwindling after their bad experiences at this Restaurant and Grill (Club).

11/14/2008-we were having a congratulations happy hour for a coworker who was promoted, We expected 15 - 20 coworkers. Tried calling the number listed several times for reservations-no answer 7 the last time-voice mail-full. we went anyway. we parked on street, the 2 parking lots were dirt paved & muddy, plus 10.00 to park. We were greeted by the hostess named (mia) who asked were we walk ins or did we have reservations, explained could not reach them, she stated, let me talk w/management to see if we could seat us, meanwhile she recommended we wait at the bar for the 2.00 you call it, when we went to the bar, the 2.00 you call it became 3.00. still not bad. We stood holding our drinks for 45 minutes, but no one was seated at the tables. Finally seated, we ordered appetizers, I ordered queso & spinach dip, good taste, both bowl half full and a hand full of chips for 10.00 & later charged an extra 1.00 for extra chips, my daughter decided to order her drink from the waiter(George-who was fine), but another co worker said he heard that the drink would be charged at full price- we call the waiter back and questioned him, who stated we had to understand, they had people who wanted to spend their money and yes the drinks were full price and to be seated where we were each person ,must order an entree or main meal, we were not told this, we were outdone and immediately got up to leave and go stand to order drinks and found out that happy hour was not from 4 - 8 but over at 7:00. very confusing, by that time all were ready to leave. Did not have a good time at all.

Rip off place:

Valet Service -- they charged us $10 to park -- only had a 20 -- when I asked for my change, they commented they had not intended on giving any change unless specifically asked for it; once inside saw that valet parking was FREE before 10:30 for ladies (which were were - but they never mentioned). Also, at the end of the night when we did retrieve the car, a lady was complaining to them because they were trying to get another $8 to her car and she already paid $10 to have it originally parked!!!

Restaurant -- when you ask for water they automatically bring you very expensive bottled water (nothing like padding the tab since they automatically add a 15% tip on everything -- of course, you have to read the small text on the menu to know that) -- the bill comes without a pen, etc. so you're just given a receipt that gets very wet on the table which has a line for you to add a tip (remember - they already added 15%) - but unless you noticed that, you're adding a tip on top of a total that was already beefed up 15%. If you do get tap water it is served in a plastic cup as are some of the drinks they bring ($9 drinks!!).

Cover at door seems to change at their discretion -- bigger crowd -- let's charge more!!

Music very very loud - unejoyably so.

Food decent

Service from staff - okay - could be better, our server was nice, but absent a good part of the night

Whoever Grooves hires for their valet parking is GHASTLY. THEY WILL DAMAGE YOUR CAR and tell you it happened in the parking lot ...which they use for parking and are suppose moniter but if THEIR workers don't report it...YOU'RE OUT OF LUCK. His name is KENT and his contact is 713.294.2555. Save it as a contact and check car before you leave with a flash light.
And Grooves is decent besides the long wait at the bars.

The setting is okay for trying to have an appearance for an elegant restaurant but not quite making that image to appear as if it is an upscale restaurant. The menu is very limited and too many fried foods. I might as well go to Joes Crab Shack and order the same thing and pay less. Our server, not sure where he was half the night but had to order our drinks at the bar. When the DJ started playing music, I might as well brought my 18 yr. old son and his friends so they could enjoy themselves. Trying to have an image of an upscale restauarant / club does not play "booty music" too much rap music. Not trying to drop it like it's hot. Definitely not for the mature crowd.

Gosh, not sure where to start so let me just tell you the basics. The price of the food is OK if you get a five star quality meal. I would have enjoyed Taco Bell better then this place. The service was slow and the food was totally unacceptable.

STAY AWAY!!!!!

I attended Grooves Saturday night and most Friday nights. The food was average as always. It was extremely salty. I hear they have some new chef. Corey waited on me and my friends. He was exceptional. He stayed on top of our drinks and was very polite. Very cute too!! A little young for me though! We partied all night until the music became "drop it like its hot" then we were too old so we left. I am 53 and I enjoyed the atmosphere but not the food (at all). I'm a diabetic and the next time i come I'll ask for no seasoning on my meal. I couldn't even eat all of my meal but I still had to pay $25 dollars a plate. I forgot who Corey said made our drinks but they were strong but good.

PS. Drexler I feel you. Candice is an exceptional waitress. She waits on me and my husband all the time and we always are pleased with her service. Next time you enter (if you ever do), request Sunshine. She is a great waitress as well. She's also just as pretty as Candice. Candice was actually in Grooves on Saturday and she told me she was now working for a Law Firm downtown. So, I'm guessing she's not missing Grooves at all!

I AM A REGULAR AT GROOVES. WELL I WAS A REGULAR. MY COMPANY COMES TWICE A MONTH ON WEDNESDAYS AND MY WIFE & I PLUS FRIENDS COME ON FRIDAYS. LAST NIGHT I CAME TO DISCOVER THAT MY REGULAR WAITRESS, THE BEST I HAVE HAD SINCE I HAVE BEEN A REGULAR AT GROOVES ,NO LONGER WORKED THERE. I THEN FOUND OUT THE REASON WHY FROM AN EMPLOYEE THERE. GROOVES HAVE MADE A BIG MISTAKE BY LETTING HER GO. IT DIDN'T MATTER WHAT DAY I CAME INTO GROOVES SHE ALWAYS WAS ON POINT WHEN SERVING US. IF I EVER CAME TO GROOVES AND SHE WASN'T THERE I WOULD LEAVE BECAUSE I COULD FIND SOMEBODY THAT TOPPED HER. I MADE A MISTAKE LAST NIGHT BY STAYING. ANDREA WAS MY WAITRESS AND SHE TOOK TO LONG COMING BACK, I BELIEVE SHE FORGOT WHAT WE ORDERED, SHE HAD AN ATTITUDE, AND THE LIST GOES ON. I'M A RELATIVE OF THE MAN THE OWNS THE BUILDING AND HE SHOULD EVICT GROOVES FROM IT. SERVICE LAST NIGHT WASN'T UP TO PAR AND THE FOOD WASN'T EITHER. MY COMPANY WILL NOW FIND ANOTHER SPOT TO SPEND MONEY. I READ SOME COMMENTS BELOW AND I SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE LIKE CANDACE AND KNOW SHE IS A GREAT WAITRESS. GROOVES HIRED SOME MAN THAT HAS BEEN DISRESPECTFUL AND I HOPE IT WAS WORTH LOSING YOUR BEST WAITRESS. AND JUST TAKE NOTE, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HER BEAUTY, MY WIFE AND FEMALE CO-WORKERS CAN SAY THE SAME THING ABOUT HER. GROOVES CALL THEMSELVES AN UPSCALE ESTABLISHMENT BUT WHEN YOU SIT DOWN TO EAT HALF OF THE MENU ISN'T AVAILABLE. ONE GOOD THING ABOUT MY SHORT VISIT LAST NIGHT WAS RAY THE BARTENDER WAS ON POINT WITH THE DRINKS.

About 2 weeks ago my co-workers and I went to Grooves for their Wednesday night happy hour. We had so much fun. I was so glad to see the band was no longer the choice of entertainment. My server, Candace, was great. She worked the entire floor herself and did an excellent job delegating. She is not only gorgeous but she her sense of humor was great. She laughed and joked with us and made our visit even better. We ate off of the buffet (needed a lot of improvement). Although it was horrible, the drinks made up for it. This was my first time coming on a weekday and I have to say I will be back during the week.

I had written a very positive review of Grooves on 5/28/08 (AMAZING NIGHT!!!). I can't say that I'll do it again. I convinced a friend to come in for drinks, asked for Candace, and found out that she was let go!!!!! WHAT THE HELL??? I was so upset. Andrea was our waitress, and.....lets just say that...she's not the most caring waitress. I made my way to the back bar, and got the second shocker of the night. The wonderful waitress that I wrote about in my past posting, Heather, NO LONGER WORKS THERE EITHER. Whats going on Grooves? People come back for outstanding service. Why get rid of it?

I went to Grooves two weeks ago to celebrate my birthday with about 12 of my friends. I had so much fun. I was treated very well. I purchased a bottle and tons of food and Candace did a great job making sure I had everything I need from plates to napkins to more ranch. It was a friday night and very, very busy but she did a great job. She also bought me my last drink of the night to thank me for my business which was very sweet of her. After spending $300 in Grooves I felt like every penny was well spent.

I was celebrating my birthday at Grooves last Friday. While waiting for the rest of my friends to show up, my husband and I decided to sit at the bar for a cocktail frist. Our server, Amy, came over shortly and introduced herself. She made sure we knew the rules about splitting checks, 2 hour limit, and entree orders. It was nice to be informed about this before we sat down so I could make sure my party knew what to expect. When we sat down, I told her that I may have a few more people show up. I had asked for extra chairs, but she accomodated me with an extra table! She kept our drinks flowing, I never had to wait for another drink. All of our food came out on time, still hot, and correct. I had the DJones Snapper (something Amy recommended) and was very pleased. It was light and flavorful. My husband had the seafood sampler which had fish, shrimp, fries, and crabcake. Also, delicious. Overall, I enjoyed the whole experience. The place is beautiful. The entertainment was exciting. Our service was the best. Even though it was a busy and hectic Friday night, Amy made us seem like we were the only patrons there. I can't wait to plan my next party there!

Everyone must have had a bad experience on 3/14/2008 .What the other customers failed to mention is that the wait for a table was over an hour and we still did not get a table. There were tables available and we still was put off. We finally realized if we did know anyone that was working there we were not going to get a table. We noticed people walking in and placing the their names on the list after ours once they saw someone that they knew that was working there "boom" they had a table. I could go on and on but, it was just that bad. We left around 9:00 pm and then had to encounter valet parking we wait 30 minutes for our car and we paid the$10.00. Suggestion find some other place to go.

I was there on Friday 3/14/08 for a co-worker's party. We had a great time. The place is nicely decorated and catered to a professional crowd, which I loved. I was looking for a place to host my birthday party and I have decided to pick this place. The drinks were greats. Our waitress, Allison, was the best. We had a large party and she worked our entire group alone, while other staff stood around doing nothing. She even brought around two rounds of free shots. She may have brought more, I had to leave early to attend another event. I left her a nice tip. I am going to ask that she be my waitress for my party. I would suggest that you do the same. The food was good. I have had better and I have had worst. I am a picky eater, but Allison made sure my meal was cooked just the way I like it.
One down fall is the parking....I got there at 5:30 and had to park on the street. They did offer Valet service later on, but it seemed like they parked the cars on a dirt and gravel section. They really need to get more parking.
I did not experience the $10.00 cover charge issue because I got there early. I am not sure what time they start to charge. In all fairness... they should put this information on their WEB Page.

I visited Grooves on Friday, March 14th. It was not what I expected. I expected a lounge-type atmosphere with music that allowed for conversation and a nice meal. I had the crab cakes. Even though there were only 2 small ones that looked as though they were scooped with a melon ball tool, I ate only one because the taste of capers was over-whelming and they were dry, not flaky. To their credit, this was an appetizer item. But at $14.00, you just expect more.

The atmosphere is like that of a club, inclusive of the hand-stamp as you leave and non-diners standing around the perimeter of the restaurant area staring at you as if you?re a caged animal during feeding time at the zoo. And then of course there is the club attire; the tight short dresses, weekend ?length weave and over-exposed breasts. As always, you have that group of women waiting for the next line-dance song to be played which this night was the Cupid Shuffle. Then they run through the tables to the small dance floor in front of the stage to do their ?club thing?. And as you leave, there is the ever popular handing out of brochures for the next big event.

Once the check is paid, without regard as to whether or not you?ve finished your drinks, you are shooed away from your table to join the spectators standing around the perimeter of the restaurant. Needless to say, my party and I left. After waiting for my car at the valet station for 27 minutes, I received it covered in mud and muddy water and today, Monday, I am writing this review as I wait for my alignment to be re-adjusted.

Pros: Diverse age group, centrally located, lots of material for your comedy routine.

Cons: Not a very safe side of town, food not a good value for the atmosphere, music too loud to be enjoyed by diners.

I had been refered to Grooves by a close friend an heard about it from others so decided to stop in and see what the fuss was about. I stopped in on a Friday evening aroud 9. I was extremely impressed with the atmosphere, and the crowd was "older" which suited me just fine. The valet was $10, which my date and I decided no to pay for, however we did not have a hard time finding a parking spot. I wasn't at all surprised by the $10 cover charge, their drinks are well made, and bartenders were very attentive. There were even young ladies passing out free Bacardi and Coke for promotions. I LOVED the live music, though i wish the dance floor was a bit larger. I would definitly return with reservations for seating; otherwise there is standing room only which became a tad annoying when people are trying to make their way to the bar or servers are trying to get to their tables. I would recommend Groove for a nice birthday gathering, date, or just happy hour.

I was really impressed with the setting and the live entertainment. We all really enjoyed that. Unfortunately, we were not that impressed with the food. It wasn't terrible, but not worth the prices. We all agreed to return, but next time we would eat before we got there and sit at the bar to enjoy the entertainment. Also, Heather was not a bad waitress. She was very nice. I must also say that they need to be prepared for their crowd. My husband and friend order the Salmon, but of course after they placed the order with the waitress, she had to come back and tell them that they didn't have any salmon. Duh...if it is on the menu, you need to make sure you can cover it! I could see if we had gotten there for a very late dinner, but it was only 8:00pm and the place was not packed yet! Overall, we had a great time and tried to enjoy our food as much as we could, but I do recommend that you go, just eat before you get there!!

A group of friends & I visited last week & we were initially pretty impressed. A friend was 45 min. late but the reservation was held for us, and the interior is beautiful; very open and serene with muted colors. Once we were seated, however, we met Courtney our server (not impressed). She got our drink orders wrong, pretty much ignored us all night, returned only once (we had to keep asking other servers for assistance), & 2 friends had to leave before the check was brought to us (Courtney was NOT happy...), 2 friends went to the bar to get drinks b/c she never returned...But, the food was great (had the salmon, very good), and the live music was really good too (lively & not too loud). Overall, I would go back but I would NOT want to be with Courtney again!!
