TRADITIONAL THAI FAMILY DISHES AND VEGETARIAN. MANAGEMENT BY 100% THAI FAMILY CHEF, NO MSG!!,..TANTALIZE YOUR TASTE......

Editorial by

In Short
Spice rules at this Thai cafe and grill. The tom yum soup simmered in kaffir lime leaves, lemon grass and galangal root is big enough for two. The popular Tanee roll is crispy and stuffed with fresh shrimp and vegetables. Curries tend to be on the hotter side. Signature entrees include healthy choices like grilled chicken breast with steamed veggies. Banana and almond stuffed spring rolls are homemade.

Ratings_icons BEST THAI FOOD IN TOWN.

phil c

This place is really a well hidden hole in the wall. After reading several good reviews on Yelp I decided to check this place out myself. I have actually been there once more since. My first time I had the Pad Kee Maw Chicken which was very very good. If you want to try any dish, I would highly suggest the Pad Kee Maw, its what got me hooked!

My second time I had the Pad Thai. It was a little sweet for my taste but still very delicious and reasonably priced. I also love the mango sticky rice desert, as well as the Tom Yum soup. I really love Thai food, and I am very glad I discovered this restaurant in Dallas. It is great whenever I am in town.

Ratings_icons Great place for authentic Thai food

YuJ

First things first, the laab gai was out of this world. I also like the Pad woon sen . Our friend said that the three-flavored fish is also very good here. (We didn't try it but we'll try that next time).

Ah and yes. I need to mention that they have excellent thai ice tea! We even tried to ordering a different version that you can get in thailand which is thai tea minus the cream plus lime juice (called Cha Manow in Thai). It just makes me miss home.

During our dinner, the owner came and greet us. He recommended that we topped our evening off with green tea ice cream. We were glad we did.

Needless to say, we be back again!

Pros: Delicious food and great service,

Cons: Too far from home

Ratings_icons Wonderful Thai Food for vegetarian

Samplex

If you've ever been curious about Thai food this is the best place to go it's perfect Thai Restaurant. The menu is loaded with all of the traditional dishes you'd expect, and it does all of them excellently. Furthermore, unlike many Thai restaurants, Thaitanee is willing to play with tradition. A few of their dishes are unique to their menu. I highly recommend Spicy big noodle ( Pat-Kee-mow) it?s one of the dish that I?ve never forgot and the price is very reasonable. There's really nothing to complain about. I?m a vegetarian, so all the food that I?ve ordered have to be clean and do exactly what I need to be. If you are one of the pickiest people like me don't worry simply just tell them what you want to have.

About the service is also excellent. If you plan to have a party over there I believe you will not be disappointed.

Pros: Best in town

Ratings_icons Praise the Lord and Pass the Thai Tea.

AIMEE2DALLAS

Praise the Lord and Pass the Thai Tea.

For almost two years now, Jennifer C and I have been (almost) daily lunch buddies. Most of the time we enjoy the same things (mushrooms should be their own food group) and hate the same things (eggs? carrots? blech).

But there are a few things I absolutely love... that I usually have to either eat at night for dinner or on those rare lunches when she is stuck in a meeting or out of town. Things like seafood (and sushi), Indian food, Guacamole and up until about three months ago... Thai food was on that list.

This is where Thai Tanee comes in. Finally! Thai food that pleases both of our palates. I have tried the Red Chicken Curry, the Pad Kee Mow and the Pad Thai. My biggest and only complaint from these three dishes is that they do not put Peanuts in their Pad Thai. To me, it just needs that salty crunch.

Thai Tanee is a tad bit of a drive from my office and walking distance from Jenn's so I have to decide what I want before I leave and we leave at the same time and she orders for me... so that our order is almost ready by the time I get there and just eating Thai food doesn't turn into a two hour lunch.

The soup of the day rotates throughout the week. I think Mondays is a Vegetable Soup. Thursdays is Egg Drop Soup... which is when we ended up here more than once. She usually orders the salad, but we both hate eggs, so we have planned to now only go to Thai Tanee on Fridays. On Fridays, they have a coconut vegetable soup that is just delicious.

Their Thai Teas are so delicious I could drink probably three of them easily, but since they are not only 700 calories each... they also do not have free refills. So we have had to start ordering water with our meal and then ordering our Thai Tea to go so that we can enjoy them on the way back to work... without the temptation of ordering a second or third or forth.

Thank you Thai Tanee for adding Thai food back into my lunches.

Ratings_icons Authentic, Family Recipes! Wonderful Thai

I was near the Galleria yesterday, and saw a Thai restaurant, Thai Tanee, on Alpha Rd-so I went in - they have a great lunch menu-I had the corn cakes and ginger beef - you can taste each touch of flavor-the owner is also the chef, and he comes to each table to ensure that you're satisfied with the meal. Thai Tanee is HIGH on my list of favorite Lunch Spots!

Pros: Unique Thai Dishes

Cons: none

Ratings_icons GOOD PREPARATION...SERIOUSLY

willium

Thai is a favorite of mine and my girlfriend, so we're always up to trying new Thai restaurants. After all the rave reviews found on yelp, we checked this place out. The restaurant wasn't busy at all on a Friday night, with only three other tables besides ours.

The waitress/hostess was EXTREMELY nice and helpful. Knew exactly when to come by, fill up our drinks, and pack up leftovers.

We ordered the Pad Kee Mow, which was some of the best tasting we've ever tried. Thumbs up on this dish..seriously. I also ordered the Red Snapper in 3 flavored sauce. One of the BEST preparations of fish I've had. The fish was deep fried and then covered in a sweet, sticky, and spicy sauce with an assortment of diced vegetables. Served with a side of rice, I almost finished the whole dish myself. The fish had and nicely crisp and crunchy crust and moist, juicy fish on the inside. I love it!

We also ordered Tom Kha soup, which was good, but I think I prefer Tom Yum. Just personal preference, but the soup was very fragrant and rich with coconut goodness...a good preparation.

Pros: THUMB UP&EXTREMELY SERVICE

Ratings_icons Above and beyond

A few months ago, a friend of mine moved from NYC to Dallas and was disappointed by the lack of good Thai food in his area. I did a little research and stumbled upon the reviews for Thai Tanee and decided to surprise him with a delivery of his favorite dish. There is only one catch...I happen to be located in southern Florida.

Not to worry...Tee at Thai Tanee went above and beyond the call of good customer service. The surprise -and of course the food- was a big success.

If Tee is willing to go to these lengths for someone so far away, I can only imagine the attention given to his local customers. Wonderful customer service and according to my friend, perfectly seasoned, good Thai food put Thai Tanee on my 'must see' list if I ever find myself in the Dallas area.

Pros: Excellent customer service

Ratings_icons Don't Miss Eating At Thai Tanee

KevinDevine

I have eaten in many thai restaurants and find that Thai Tanee stand out as exceptional. The owner who is also the chief/cook is a gentle soul who cares about his business, the preparation of his food and the satisfaction of his customers.

I have become a frequent customer of this restaurant and have always felt that I have been treated as more than just a customer...but as an honored guest and friend.

One is never rushed, the food is prepared to order and is always delicious.

The price point is more than resonable and it's a BYOB place with no corkage charge. It is immaculately clean too.

Try it... meet Tee...the owner or Judy one of the special waitresses, enjoy the food and I guarantee that you too will return often!

Pros: Wonderful food!

We both enjoyed our dinner in this unassuming spot. it's not the the best location but the food is worth it. we are kind of particular when we order, (no this, light on that...) but the waitress got everything correct
and the food was really delicious. we like thai as opposed to chinese because it is usually lighter and the food here was prepared heavenly.
the tofu was very lightly fried and the meal was not at all oily. just fresh and tasty.

Pros: flavorful food , service

Cons: don't be put off by the shopping center it's in

Ratings_icons Thai Food Favor Like in Thailand

ekkapop31

I am a Thai student and I have tried many Thai restaurants in the U.S. I can tell anyone this is the best place for traditional Thai food. you will get a real traditional Thai food. Although food here is not spicy like in Thailand but you can ask your server to make more spicy food. My favorite dish are Kua Kai and Crab Meat Fried Rice. They were every awesome. Everything I've had was fresh and tasty. Price was reasonable. Moreover, there was a excellent and fast service. I highly recommend This restaurant.

Pros: Delicious Foods, Nice Service, Parking, Price

Cons: What are the drawbacks?

Ratings_icons Great Traditional Thai and Thai Fusion Mix Menu

MadMyrlio

I am a region sales manager and spent most weeks at night in hotels eating delivery and working from my hotel room. I have eaten Thai from coast to coast and while I can't say I would consider myself an expert on traditional Thai, I do make a mean Tom Yum soup at home. Thai Tanee is a terrific example of a family owned, exceptional Thai restaurant. I had The Tom Yum, Pad Thai, Tad Mun Pla (Fish Cakes), spicy Basil Chicken, Spicy grilled Salad, and the salad rolls recently over my last four day trip to Dallas. The menu is a balanced blend of traditional Thai and Thai fusion dishes, and everything I've had was fresh, flavorful, and incredibly tasty. The Grilled salad was perhaps the best salad I've ever had anywhere and the spicy Basil was great. The Pad Thai was better than average. Not quite the best I've ever had, but better than many I've eaten. The delivery was great and within an hour of my order. Mom answered the phone almost everyday. She and the son who delivered and owns, I believe, were very gracious, friendly, and appreciative, and remembered my name and my spice preferences by the third day I ordered. This is the first restaurant review I've taken the time to write and would highly recommend a stop at or delivery from Thai Tanee if you're in the Addison area. The food and the Thai family owners are great Thai cooks and very friendly Americans. Go eat with them...I'm certainly glad I did.

Pros: Great food, Great Owners/Family, Fast Service; Hotel Delivery Available, Right off I-75

Cons: None I can think of

Thai Tanee is reminiscent of Thai frod found in Los Angeles, where the competition is fierce. The real test of any Thai place is the Dumpling and Satay. Try Thai Tanee's and you"ll be pleased. The peanut sauce is very good, and the yellow cury is exceptional.

Pros: Thumbs up, Lot Parking, Friendly Service

We came into thai tanee on business and stayed for lunch.Me and my wife had a beef and broccoli dish that was deliciuous. The broccoli was crisp fresh and the texture of the rice was perfect. But what really made the experience perfect was the hospitality of the server the owner was at the table making sure everything was perfect and it he was a pleasure to talk to. They are family owned and it shows.

Ratings_icons Carrie good Thai food.

Carriegood

I REALLY love this joint. This is the kind of Thai food you imagine you'd be eating in a Thai grandma's kitchen, and the people are so sweet and adorable. I'm a total food snob, and I just cannot get enough of this place. I've also turned my friends into Thai Tanee junkies. They dine there at least once or twice a week for lunch, and taunt me with text messages and pictures of their entrees because they know I constantly fiend for all my fave dishes there. I recommend their fish cakes, beef salad, crab meat fried rice, pad see eew and dooooo try their fried bananas with ice cream. It's not the typical tempura bananas we're used to. It's best described as a sweet banana egg roll. SO DARN GOOD!!! Let's not forget about the portions either. They sure do know how to keep their customers happy by giving us hungry man size portions, haha! Oh, I also forgot to mention that they deliver. This place definitely ain't no joke! Do check them out if you enjoy authentic Thai cuisine. :)

Ratings_icons Real & amazing thai food right in my neighborhood

mermaiden

What do I look for in a thai restaurant? Real thai menu items that *taste* like authentic thai food, friendly service, and no MSG. They've got it. And to top it off, they deliver and graciously made me dishes that were not on the menu, they were thai dishes of course. When Bangkok City changed hands, I looked high and low for a real thai restaurant, and this is it. My favorites here include the shrimp rolls, fish cakes, Kua Kai and the Larb (off the menu tangy lime spicy chicken salad) that they made especially for me. I?m so glad I found a great thai restaurant, and I will keep coming back for more.

Pros: Food, service, delivery, flexibility on menu items

Cons: none

this is what one critic had to say, "...the new decor provides a cozy environment with a "Thai smile" friendly atmosphere." The reviewer went on to note that he judged Thai restaurants from the quality of the classic dishes, "At Thai Tanee, I ordered Pad Kee Mow ... and it was SENSATIONAL!" The extensive menu includes house specialties such as Grilled Marinated Beef, Salmon or Chicken Teriyaki; Whole Gulf Red Snapper in a spicy chili sauce; and Crispy Catfish in Ginger Sauce. But the extensive menu offers lots of delicious variety, from traditional Thai Soups that are more than a meal, to Curries, Noodle Dishes and Rice Bowls. Lunch and dinner specials are served daily with a choice of soup or salad and a crispy spring roll. But save room for dessert because the Fried Ice Cream and Fresh Ripe Mango Sweet Rice are delish! Takeout is available, as is free delivery within a 5-mile radius. And if you decide to dine in, bring along your favorite beverage, as Thai Tanee has a BYOB policy. They always cook by thai chef in their family...wow,....amazing family!!!!!

Ratings_icons Overall, we would recommend Thai tanee to anyone in the Dallas& WONDERFUL!!!!!!

samarapensylvania

This is my friend and I's first visit to the Dallas area and this has to be by far the best Thai food we have had. We were looking for a Thai restaurant that would deliver to our hotel and through the use of a google search we happened upon Thai tanee. One of the main reasons we were drawn to it despite being given other choices was that Thai tanee placed their menu and pictures online. This was especially helpful. The food was exceptional in taste and flavor and it was not overly greasy which was wonderful. Overall, we would recommend Thai tanee to anyone in the Dallas area whether you are visiting or live in the area. We were so excited about the quality of the food we gave out Thai tanee's business cards to other associates with us here in Dallas. We will definitely be ordering from Thai tanee again prior to the end of our visit to Dallas.

Pros: thumbs up

Ratings_icons Groovy Thai food! Simply AWESOME in many ways... tasty, authentic, generous portions, affordably priced & great delivery service.

groovygrub

I was looking for a Thai restaurant which delivered to my workplace, so I decided to google it and thus stumbled upon Thai Tanee. I consider myself a bit of a "foodie" and enjoy trying out new restaurants whenever I read or hear of rave reviews. I was wondering how I had never heard of Thai Tanee when it was basically right "in the neighborhood". Seeing all the "5 star" ratings which Thai Tanee received on CitySearch, I knew I had to try it out. I was not disappointed... all those "critics" who blazed the trail before me were dead on in their rave reviews. The food is authentically tasty and the portions are quite generous. On my first order, I tried the tilapia basil. It was superb! The four other colleagues whom also placed orders on that Friday were equally complimentary of the food. The delivery was quick and the delivery person was really friendly and even brought us copies of DMN's Quick to read as we ate our delicious meal. Furthermore, the delivery person mentioned that they included a free appetizer for us to try. What more could you ask for?!?! I was eager to try Thai Tanee again... which I did four days later. The food was again as it was on my first experience... simply awesome! There are six Thai restaurants which I know of within a 5 minute drive of my workplace and Thai Tanee is now my favorite. I'll be a frequent return visitor for years to come. Thanks Thai Tanee for the groovy grub... it's yummy good.

Pros: Tasty authentic Thai food, generous portions, great value, friendly delivery service

Cons: I haven't encountered any

This is a great new restaurant for Thai food. The service is very friendly and the food is excellent. I had the basil catfish and it was perfect! They also gave me alot of fish, which is good because some restaurants serve very small portions and I'm left feeling hungry. Not here. Due to it being in a small shopping plaza, the outside only looks so-so, but once inside, the decor and tables are very nice. In addition to the basil catfish, I've also tried the Pad See-ewe and it was also excellent. I hope that more people learn of this great new Thai restaurant!

Pros: Authentic Thai taste, very friendly staff, very resonable prices

Cons: Shopping center location

This excellent Thai Restaurant needs their neighborhood's support , for both lunch and dinner . Admittedly Tuesdays are slow for restaurants , but I was picking up dinner last Tuesday , and only four tables were full . That's surprising given the quality of the menu . Every item in this place is stellar , always seasoned perfectly . Specific items I can vouch for : beef or chicken curry , any of the excellent rice noodle soups , the amazing vegetable egg rolls (the ratio of filling to the fried wrapper is just perfect ) , Thai style fried rice , spicy noodles , steamed dumplings , and any of the three catfish dishes . Lunch here is a bargain . I hope folks will rally around such good food . Thai Tanee is located at the intersection of Montford and Alpha (actually a block or two east of that intersection) .

Friendly staff and delivery. Perfectly seasoned stir fried big noodles...spicy but not too spicy. This is a great family owned neighborhood restaurant that makes me happy I live nearby.

Thai Tanee is the most favorite cafe of mine and my family because it has friendly service and pleasant surroundings serves up hot curries and spicy dishes near Valley View Mall. When I have spicial time , I don' t forget this cafe. It has the dilicious menu that I like so much . For example Tom Yum koong, fried Rice ,etc. Foods are not expensive. If you tasted their foods, you will think same me. I hope to see more new friends in Thai Tanee soon.

Pros: Thumbs up about Food, Ambience , Service, Value

I am not an employee, owner or friend of the staff at Thai Tanee. I'm a west coast transplant to Dallas and love good Thai Food. This is the best Thai next to Royal Thai I have found in DFW. The staff is friendly, the restaurant clean with nice tables and chairs. It is not a fancy place as the interior walls could use a decorator, but worth it to eat here in all respects. Reasonable prices and great Thai food. Less hassle than Addison restaurants and a nice place for lunch it you are shopping at Valley View Mall or the Galleria area.
