I just wanted to point out that this Preschool is completely unrelated to Crestview United Methodist Preschool on Morrow.

It has been so long since I have seen this. Just for the sake of setting the record straight, Barbara, it is interesting you have so many good things to say about me but I don't know who you are. There is some truth to your statement, there ARE two sides to every story, it seems as though you are just finding out about the other side.
I think D.J. said it all.
I hope you all have found great new places for your kids, like I have. I am glad to see Crestview is still closed. I think the fact it IS closed is enough justification as to why this place was so awful.

My son attended Crestview from Nov 07 - June 08. This was his first time in day care and he started when he was 15 months old. At first, I was impressed with everything I saw. The teachers seemed to be caring, the director seemed to have everything in order and my son was happy for the first few months. I liked the fact that the parents were responsible for providing their childs' lunch and the classes were very small.
After he was enrolled for a few months he started having breakdowns when I dropped him off every morning. At first, I couldn't figure out what was going on. I asked the director and she said that his original teacher had left recently and he wasn't adjusting very well. I accepted that and tried to make things easier on him. The behavior every morning continued. When I asked again, I was told that he didn't "get along with classmate". A few weeks later, I was told that classmate had been terminated from the school. Again, I accepted that and was secretly glad b/c that same child had bitten my child on several occasions.

Things never did get better. There were 4 or 5 times I was called to pick my son up because he had a fever. I would go and pick him up to and take him to the doctor and he NEVER ONCE had a fever when I got him to the doctor's office. The only thing I could figure out was that they were over their "limit" so they had to send a kid home to keep from having to call in another teacher.

In Jan 08, they started requiring the kids to wear uniforms of yellow polyester polos and khakis. They were hideous and even more so b/c my child has excema and the polyester irritated his skin causing him to break out. The shirts all came in one size, so my small 18 month old had to wear a 4T shirt that looked like a dress.

While the school may have smelled clean, it certainly didn't look it. It took me a while to pick up on that fact and the first time I went in the kitchen, I was appalled.

Over the course of the 8 months my child was enrolled, he had 4 different teachers, which is a ridiculous turnover rate. About the time my son would start to bond with a teacher, she would be gone, with no explanation, leaving several upset toddlers.

The straw that broke THIS camels back came the first week of June 2008. I went in to pick my son up and there were 13 kids ranging from walking to 4 years old. The teacher had her back turned to the class and was changing the diaper of another child. My son was in a corner surrounded by 3-4 four year olds who were pushing him down in a plastic chair saying "You're a baby, you sit down". I rushed in, snatched my child up and asked the teacher why there were so many children in one room. I was told it was 'Transition time'. When I asked what that meant, she told me that it meant she was waiting on another teacher to show up so they could take the potty trained children to another room. It was 5:15pm at that point and they closed around 6-6:30. There was no other teacher coming. She knew that and I knew that.

When I approached Ms Christy the next day about the incident, she told me that they were short-staffed. I asked her when they would be fully staffed and she said that "Good help is hard to find" I gave my 4 week notice and withdrew my son. She had no intention of finding more help.

The bottom line is that Crestview had good teachers who were most likely FAR underpaid, a VERY old building that was in need of repair, and questionable practices. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I happened to be driving down Parmer last week and was relieved to see the building that looked like it was closed up. There were no signs up anymore and the gates were closed. I hope the other parents did as my family did and removed their kids.

Barbara T, you have no clue what YOUR state of mind really is, do you? Everything that was stated about Crestview is 100% true. The director/owner is mental. Her attitude would be fine one day, then the complete opposite the next day by throwing fits of anger and just being ill mannered to the teachers, parents, and even the children. Pretty childish if you ask me. Ms. Christy has been and will always be unprofessional on every level. I have personally talked to some of the teachers and parents and have received the same response from all the ones I spoke with. I would be really surprised if she has any real friends, not just acquaintances.

From what I've seen, Ms. Christy would never have personally watched a parents child and not charge them a dime. It's not in her nature. I can't say if that situation is true or false because I wasn't there, but I'm basing my opinion off of my personal experience with her. Makes me wonder though. Why would every review about Crestview be negative except yours? I don't know, maybe you're Ms. Christy. It really doesn't matter because if all of these reviews are false, then why is the school currently shut down? Hmm. Why did most of the parents pull their children out of the school when all the good teachers left the school? I feel sorry for all the teachers and children whose lives were affected by her.

The school was a death trap. The fire alarm would randomly go off and when one of the teachers evacuated the school and called the fire department, she yelled at her for doing what she was supposed to do. Saying it costs her money for the fire department to come out to the school. Yes it did cost her money for them to pay the school a visit, but yet she wouldn't spend the money to fix the faulty fire system. If the City of Austin and parents knew the school was a death trap from day one, I promise there's no way this school would have opened to begin with. Would any parent in their right mind leave their child in a daycare with a faulty fire system?

To any parent thinking about Crestview Preschool, go elsewhere. If she does decide to reopen the school, never enroll your child there. Ms. Christy doesn't have a clue, no professionalism, no etiquette, and no idea how to run a reputable and respectable business, PERIOD!

I have to agree with the comments posted about Christy. she is a very mean person and doesn't care about the children, the parents, and most of all the staff. Her saying all the time everyone is replaceable. I wouldn't ever allow my children or give recommendation for this childcare center just because of Christy. The old teachers that used to work there were great. Now she just hires people and fire them.

There is always 2 sides to a story. I had the privilege of being a teacher at Crestview preschool. And i have to say this is a VERY GOOD SCHOOL.Ms Christy The Director and owner took extra special interest in EVERY CHILD. I remember when Chelsea's son was enrolled at the school. The enrollment was done by the very nice grandmother who dropped in at about 6:40am and Ms Christy personally took good care of her. Ms christy even stayed behind to care for Chelsea's son after hours till around 7:40pm leaving her own family at home. This went on for approximately 4months. There were many times when Chelsea didn't even have food for the little boy and Ms Christy went out and got him food which Chelsea later said she had food in the bag which everyone saw she didn't. There were even times when her son was ill and the school was not able to get in touch with her and Ms Christy personally cared for Chelsea's son in her office until she picked him up.She only told Chelsea she was free to take her son somewhere else after Ms Christy got tired of her threatening to take her son out every time she did something such as not paying her tuition on time and refusing to pay the late fees and personally insulting Ms Christy over the uniform policy. Even when she was late picking her son up, Ms Christy did not charge her for late fees.As for you Gloria, I am shocked and appalled. I had no idea you were such a follower. You always commented how much you liked the school. You should really hear the other side of the story before judging. As for Lisa S the "assistant Director". I don't recall ever seeing you at the School but after talking to a co league of mine I think I know who you are. First of all, your name is not Lisa S. You just about drove Ms Christy crazy with your lies and your conniving ways. I think I even remember one time you lied about your husband being in an accident and in surgery at bracken ridge hospital and you had Ms Christy so worried and it all turned to be a LIE . You were always tardy and very nonproductive. Maybe that's why you did not get the raise. I got all my raises when they were due.Everyone of you should get a life and stop being so unnecessarily vindictive. If you cant say thank you for how well you've been treated then be quiet. It only shows the state of mind you are in. SORRY

I had been an employee at Crest view Pre-school, and I have to honestly say, that these parents, are %100 correct. I had worked in pre-school settings for many years, prior. I was very proud to assume the role as an assistant director. I knew how to properly run a center. I came in with excellent references, and still do, to this day. I will say, that we have had great teachers, and may still have them. I commend them for their work, and strength, to obtain the nonsense that Mrs. Christi bestowed. I remember the outburst she would have with parents, and kicking children as well as teachers out, when she felt fit. We all know that children can be rumbustious at times, but who kicks children out, for not sitting still. There are many reasons, simply that, that is what children do, they could be advanced, and bored with their lessons and so forth. She would schedule meetings an hr. before it was time to go home, and i would stress, that the teachers have children, school, and husbands, to go too, that we need to plan these meetings so that they can prepare themselves. We never go paid for our meetings, nor did we have benefits. We didn't get paid for holiday's nor sick time. She never wanted to hire the amount of teachers, yet she was always concerned about ratio. I was up for two raises that were promised, yet I never saw them. The one thing that concerned me, was when we had a ring worm epidemic. I had notice that a child had a form of ring worm, when I had notified Mrs. Christi, she did attempt to call the parent, and I loved this family, but you should not return to any school unless you have a doctors notice. Well it spread, then she thought she would take it in her own hands and treat infection. children, due to her being a Licensed RN. Everyone began to catch the infection. She was very loving at times, but she was focused on the business, the care and rules, and shall I say the dignity, was thrown out. And she will yell as she kicks you out in front of children, and will threaten you. In a home setting environment, where children are moved from room to room, for ratio purposes, you need to be heavily informed of what level they are at, so if your child is attending, stay on top of it, ask questions, and ALWAYS have a back up, because you honestly don't know, when you may get kicked out. When children are sick, it is such a small area, that their should be an awareness of a sickness going on, so that you as parents can go home and take the proper prevention steps, I got very sick, from a child, and I was ordered to stay home, BY A DOCTOR, with a note, I had been working on a Christmas Program for a week, I say this because I felt that a few Christmas songs and awards would be good. Mrs. Christi wrote an entire play out for 4 yr old to learn and recite in one week. Well needless to say, I got real sick the day before and was told I couldn't be around children. I was told, she went hay wire, said, that my indoor Christmas lights almost set everyone on fire, and I ruined the play. I was told to leave and I asked when shall i come back. She gave me a random date, which was 12 days or so, only for me to return, without a job. So I am deeply sorry for all of you who had to feel the wrath.I really am. Indeed there was a phone call that a close one was in an accident, and it was all fabricated, not by me, but him. And i had spent all day trying to figure out why he did such a thing. By then, after going to hospital to hospital, she wouldn't have cared anyways. I was indeed late, but it wasn't to that extreme. I do know, that if Crestview has more negative feedback, from others, it's a given..... And it's nice to help a parent or child, but the real question, WHY DO YOU HAVE A CERTAIN SELECT? WHY NOT ALL? EVERYCHILD AND FAMILY SHOULD BE TREATED THE SAME, I have not a vindictive bone in me, but I do care about children and their families. I don't play politics, I do and say what is right. And Being fare, is right.

Hi Chelsea this is Gloria "Ch" mother. I agree with allot of what you stated in your review. I also took Christian out of Crestview that Friday. I really would like the boys to remain friends since Christian is always asking about your little one. I rather not mention names online. Please contact me so we can have play dates for the boys or I would love to watch him for a few hours on a weekend. My work email is sales@dpsoa.com

Thank you,
Hope all is well.

My son had attended Crestview Preschool for a little over one year. He is an amazing child and easy to get along with. There have been numerous teachers employed at this preschool since we started going here and all of them have been satisfactory or above. The current teachers at Crestview are absolutely amazing and have hearts big enough for every kid that attends. My main and only concern has always been for the Director/Owner 'Ms. Christy'. She is extremely moody and it shows. One day she will be your best friend, and the next day she is kicking your kid out. This director has recently started enforcing uniforms. I have no problems with uniforms whatsoever, unless they are extremely oversized 'one size fits all' polo t-shirts that engulf the child and look like large bright golden yellow dresses with khaki pants to "match". My son is two, and this uniform is embarrassing even on a toddler. 20 degree weather, and your child is expected to wear this uniform over all of their clothes, no exceptions. No cute little sweaters. And what is the Owners reasoning for enforcing uniforms you might ask? "I like the uniforms because it makes it easier for me to tell who is here." It is as simple as that. There have been no 'logical' reasons given to me as to why this uniform business is so dire. Oh and did I mention that you are required to PURCHASE these little beauties for $10.00 each, and you must buy 4 of them (Fridays are casual of course). I could go on forever complaining about the uniforms, but honestly, the only thing keeping me from loving this daycare is the owner, and she is there everyday. She does not care about the children at all and is extremely disrespectful to the parents. I have never liked her and have only kept my son there for so long because of his teachers. Don't let her fool you, she will give you no warning of dismissal, and does not run a professional business. I had notified 'Ms.Christy' that my son would be leaving the daycare after 30 days due to the uniforms. She had accepted my notice last Friday. Monday arrives, my son stays home from school (personal reasons). Tuesday morning I am dropping him off at Crestview on my way to work only to find out that he has been terminated. The director had assumed he would no longer be attending the school since he had not been there the day before. With no warning, she had terminated the contract. I was able to speak with Christy for a moment, she explained to me that it would be OK to live out our 30 day agreement, but "good luck finding a daycare that is as good of a price as this one." I nicely mentioned to her that there were cheaper daycare's out there (which anyone should already know unless you live in an imaginary world) and i proceeded to say "good bye" to my son and leave. The next second Christy is telling me to take my son and leave with no explanation. I was not able to honor the 30 day notice and am now forced to find my son a daycare in one day. Not many parents keep their children here and for good reason. Like I said, the teachers are the asset to this Daycare, the owner is absolutely absurd.
