Reef is a great seafood restaurant (with non-seafood options for those that do not like fish). The atmosphere and service are fantastic not to mention the food and the fried mac & cheese ... Definitely try this place for a couples night out!

Last night we celebrated our daughters 18th birthday at Reef. What a fabulous choice! We had the greatest waiter named Gil, nothing to much trouble, very informative and accomodating. The seafood was the best we have had since moving here

Ok, so I order baked salmon well done thoroughly cooked because that is my perogative, right? Here it comes, test it and of course it's raw. Back it goes. 10 minutes pass and husband is almost done with his fish and the salmon

First visit to Reef. May or may not return. Food was good, but not necessarily memorable. We were hoping for that WOW factor. Might have been more excited about the place if not for the distracted hostess and our no personality waiter.

We went there this past wknd for my wife's bday and we were not impressed. Since she is a seafood lover I thought this would satisfy her taste buds. Our service was ok...but took a long time for it to come.

The appetizers Calamari and Spring rolls were good, However, after waiting about 30 minutes after we placed our order I had to remind our waiter that we were hungry. He brought out the green salad and my wifes had little or no dressing. She said it ws dry and almost dirty. So we had to ask for a side of dressing.

She ordered the amber jack and I ordered the baked salmon. Her amber jack was ok but my salmon was undercooked. For the price and hype of this place we will not be back. Sorry Reef :(

My head waiter was asleep at the wheel. Totally missed the mark:
1.Took my son's order before waiting on my wife and daughter.
2. Finished our appetizer and dishes stayed on the table for an extended length of time.
3. Had to waive for attention and order a new drink.
4. Brought the wrong drink and I was the only one ordering.
5. Still eating and bumped my arm to get his fork down for the entree.
6. Served from the right, left, it didn't manner which side.
7. Waved to get attention for the check
8. Brought another tables check to me the first time.
This all happened for a 4 top ordering simple food with a $125 tab, the service was terrible, terrible.

Ok I went thinking surley this isn't as good as my friends and the reviews say, and I was half right, it was actually better!!! I don't think it's possible to try a bad dish, however try the crispy skin snapper and you won't be disappointed. The wait staff, the food, the decor... super awesome.

After reading accolades about this restaurant, we chose Reef for a special celebration. The meals at our table were just plain bad all the way around. Around the whole table. Yes, really. The whole table. Bland, tasteless, undercooked, overcooked. You name it and it went wrong. Not one decent meal at the whole table. To add bad to worse, service was lacking. The staff was green, unenthusiastic and not knowledgeable at all. We were dumbfounded....How did this place ever get written up at all? Complaints to management were brushed off with what appeared a very practiced and detached response. "Sorry. We'll try better next time. Come try us again. Thanks." At this price point, we were jaw-droppingly amazed all the way around. Despite all the rah-rah and previous write-ups out there, Reef is NOT so all that in our book. Gee. Sorry. Thanks. We'll pass.

The food varies somewhat from visit to visit, but it's always pretty good. The restaurant is among the best in Houston, whatever that means. But man is this place loud. And for some reason it seems to attract lots and lots of obnoxious people (not sure how it lured me, though). The men talk loudly and look like they butter their heads. The women cackle and wear dresses two sizes too small. The crowd has all of the alleged vices of Dallasites but none of the virtues. I could do without about 90% of them.

My first few visits there were very good, that is why I went back. On a recent trip in early October with a few friends to celebrate our birthdays we were all very disappointed with the food and the service.

When I contacted the management to give them details of all that went wrong they offered many excuses, but did nothing to convince me that I should return to Reef or any of the restauants they are now building. They simply said sorry you and your guest were very disappointed with our food and service, perhaps if you come back we can hopefully do better. This kind of response can not be excused and l will never return to Reef, not even if they offered a free meal.

I do not recommend this place to anyone wanting a good meal and a pleasant experience. We are very fortunate to have so many great restaurants in Houston and do not have to put up with the poor food and service at Reef and most importantly the porr attitude of the management.

I??ve wanted to try this place since seeing the fabulous write up in Food & Wine Magazine as an up and coming chef. I had such high hope of putting Houston on the map as a culinary center and higher expectations about the cuisine since many of my friends raved about the place and food. So what went well? I like the dcor, the wait staff and wine selections. The crab & shrimp shooters were unique and surprisingly very good. The milkshake was fantastic. The sweet potato & bacon ravioli was tastefully interesting. I wish I had ordered the brandy sauce on the side because it overpowered the main flavors of the dish. The not so well? The main entrees left me with a sour taste for this place. The grouper was overcooked to a point of rubbery, not good. The seafood pot contained bad tasting shrimp (strong ammonia flavor & aroma) and penny size mussels not worth the trouble to eat much less not being cleaned well enough to be served because the bottom of the bowl was sandy making the tasty broth gritty at best. When I explained all this to our waitress, she politely apologized; which is what she was trained to do. She even commented on the strong smell of the shrimp, that I set aside on the bread plate to validate my point by not eating. I??m into service recovery when experiences are below standards. My experience was clearly below quality standards. I don??t look for a free meal, just something to get me to come back and try it again. Even great chefs have bad days. Let??s just say I won??t be back to the Reef restaurant any time soon and I won??t recommend it to any of my friends, family and colleagues. Which is a shame because I had such high hopes?

I had been wanting to try Reef since hearing it had opened two years ago. It sparked my memory seeing it listed on MSN as one of the Top 10 Seafood Restaurants in the US and on the Food in Houston Blog. Thankfully we managed to get a table early as the restaurant has quickly booked up after such rave reviews. The menu changes daily based upon the selection of fresh fish that is available in the Gulf. Chef Bryan Caswell has established a very creative and flavorful menu with some fish I have never even heard of! I tried the amberjack with plantains and green beans and my husband tried the grouper over collard greens. The plantains paired with the green beans was such an unusual combination and yet somehow it worked. The two juxtaposing textures and flavors actually complimented each other and brought out so much more flavor in the fish! The grouper and collard greens were also just as delicious. The collard greens were actually light, not too saturated and full of delicious bacon flavor! The wait staff, valet staff, and managers were funny, helpful and truly enhanced our evening. Overall I was incredibly impressed with Reef. The food is impeccable and I am excited to go back to another unique dinner!

We've dined at the Reef many times and finally got around to a review. I guess writing reviews about places that you see room for improvement on, or negative experiences comes naturally. Conversely when you can't find anything that isn't best in class you don't think to write anything. Obviously an error to correct on our part!

The food is always fresh and fantastic. We love the ecological slant that the Chef, Bryan Caswell has in using only ingredients that are sustainable and on target for the theme. This is one restaurant I find it hard to name a favorite as everything is great, but if I had to it would probably be the Red Fish on the half shell.

I have to do some bragging for the Reef as they would not do so themselves...the wine selection and prices are in my opinion the best in Houston, not to mention that Bill Floyd is one heck of a sommelier!

Service is top notch, and has a special twist where they keep track of who has waited on you so that you have the same waiter every time you make a reservation. Which is great as they get to know your tastes and recommend things that you might not normally try. David is top notch!

Overall this is the best high end seafood restaurant in Houston if not the best restaurant period.

We have dined at this resturant once before and wanted to try it again. We made a reservatrion for 5 @ 6:30 on a Saturday night. We arrived on time and was seated at the worst table in the resturant and was told it was the most requested table. Hard to beleive considering we sat right at the service station, bathroom and kitchen doors. We had a friend from out of town and wanted to show her a cool hip place. Instead we were told that that was the best they could do and for lack of better terms we could just leave.
The owner was so pompas and rude that we were speechless. There are many great resturants in Houston that we will never go back or recommend.

Had the grilled redfish and seared tripletail and it was very good. My guests and I sampled almost every appetizer in their Rare section and each were unique in flavors and delicious. We needed some meat though and ordered the pork chop with the cherry mustard dipping sauce. It was amazing. And the molten chocolate cake we had for dessert really was to die for.

I'd avoid weekends and come in on a weeknight as we did. Since the restaurant wasn't completely packed, our servers were able to pamper us more and they certainly did. Everything was wonderful. As for prices- for all the things we orderd... lets just say that whoever thinks they're expensive obviously hasn't dined in Midtown very often. Or anywhere for that matter.

We were visiting from Dallas and a friend recommended that we try Reef. After our dinner I called my friend to say 'thank you' because we had a wonderful time. It wasn't possible to book a reservation so we decided to go and sit at 3rd Bar where the full menu is still offered. Looking into the main dining room, it was beautiful with it's high ceilings, ocean hues, show kitchen and its glass wine cellar. The dinning room was also packed like a great cocktail party and everyone is having a good time. The dining tables in 3rd Bar are separated by a high drink rail which helps separate those mingling from those dinning. We were greated promptly by our waitress. We started with shrimp shooters which had a perfect balance of spice and sweetness in the "shot", and the calamari was excellent. The three of us had the roasted grouper with a sweet corn puree (a fantastic compliment to each), grilled shrimp and oysters. All three were excellent. The service was friendly and prompt, which is never that easy to get when sitting in the bar area of any restaurant. The food was excellent from beginning to end, and the restaurants ambiance was comfortable. It's obiviou that Reef is driven by fresh, seasonal ingredients showing off what the local area has to offer. All together Reef gives a wonderful dining experience and great value!

It's always hard to call a particular establishment "The Best" but Reef certainly qualifies as "Very Good" The creative menu offers tasty items from a delicate steamed shrimp salad to the over-the-top beefy deliciousness of the sliders. There is a note of saltiness in the well seasoned dishes, bold flavors predominate, proteins are served perfectly prepared at the requested temperature.

The restaurant is an open plan, in a concrete structure, tables are close together, and there is certainly a "buzz" on a busy night. Staff is professional and attentive, hostess are chicly dressed, attractive, and welcoming.

This restaurant is a hip midtown eatery with flash to match the bold menu. If you prefer something more sedate, yet still delicious and creative, Damian's is a few blocks away on Smith.

Reef is an excellent choice for a special occasion, or just an upscale treat.

Great place to stop off before a Rockets game or a show, but I wouldn't make it my final destination. This place has a good wine list and a few of their selections are only a few bucks more than in the liquor store. I really dig the appetizers here. They've got this shrimp wrapped up in a won ton paper that is really good and a great crabcake. The sliders are really good too. However I've ALWAYS had bad luck with my entrees. My first time I had a boring Salmon and my second time I think I had a Sea Bass with bacon sauce. Oh my god that was gross. I was burping fish and bacon all night. Go there and order a bunch of appetizers and salads and get all tanked up on wine. You'll have fun. One more thing. The valets don't have uniforms. Don't be afraid to give them your keys. They're very nice. Go there now!

After all the hype and awards, I insisted that we go to the restaurant on a Saturday night, with friends. So we did. It was a great evening, except for the noise level, complained about in previous posts. It's really loud for us 40 somethings. But the food was fabulous. Soft shell crab, tempura style, was fresh from the gulf. The Gumbo is the old style NOLA, where they bring the close to boiling broth to the table, and throw the shrimp and crawfish in on the way. Perfectly cooked, but not overly cooked and rubbery, like you usually find. Redfish on the half shell was a fav, but the show stopper was the $4 french fries. Go figure. They were the best. ever. Double fried, and frozen in between frying, according to Bill Floyd, an owner , who visited our table and explained it to us. I love you, Bill! For your fries, that is.

I dined at reef with my husband recently. It was our 30th anniversary. I enjoyed the food, not the best but okay. I just wish I could have heard my husband speak!

Pros: location, food, atmosphere

Cons: Noise level,

.

This was not my first time to Reef, but by far my favorite. The hostesses were lovely and adorable as usual. I was seated promptly for my reservation, which unfortunately seems relatively rare these days at other restaurants.

I really enjoyed the salmon I got the first time I came and planned on getting it again. Our waitress described "a few of her favorite things". She described them so well, my mouth was watering. I abandoned my original plan, and went with her recommendations. I had the steamed shrimp salad to start. I was suprised when she said this was one of her favorite things on the menu. It sounded kind of boring to me. I could not have been more wrong. It was incredible. Once I had the salad I knew I was in very good hands. My date had the crab cake. Probably one of the best I've ever had. For my entree I had the redfish on the halfshell. I was really excited about the mac n cheese (who wouldn't be!), but was suprised to find I actually enjoyed the fish more. Great dinner. I found the dessert list a little boring, but nothing to complain about. They were solid, just not overly-original.

There are many restaurants out there with very good food. Service is what separates the "men from the boys". Ariel did a fantastic job, and her care and special attention is what will keep us coming back. If you go to Reef, ask for her. It will make all the difference, I assure you. We can't wait to go back!

I was really looking forward to my first dining experience at Reef. I've heard all the hype and read all of the glowing reviews. It wasn't a terrible experience by any means, but everything about the food, service, and the dining room left me wondering...how could anyone consider this the best restaurant in Houston? We had a 7:15 reservation, and despite being 10 minutes early, our table was ready. There were two hostesses working. Both were dressed completely inappropriately (far too casual, and on the brink exposing themselves) and neither one of them was friendly (not even a smile). So we sit. The dining room is overcrowded with tables, and the noise level approaching that of a trendy club. We ordered drinks, the waitier brought them out to the wrong people, and the $10 Mojito was mediocre at best. Appetizers. We ordered the Ceviche and Jumbo Lump Lollipop Cocktail, and again, they were brought out to the wrong people. I was surprised by the small portion of the Ceviche, and underwhelmed by the Lump Cocktail. The table rolls were fine, although I thought they were a bit too dense. Dinner. Once again, the dishes were brought out to the wrong people, and the waiters basically slammed the plates down. The food was ok. I had the crab cake which contained a generous amount of crab, but the layer of "fried" was too thick and not very flavorful. The Fried Mac and Cheese was bad (and I LOVE Mac and cheese) . It was flavorless and NOT cheesy! The Seafood Hotpot had a good broth to it, but again, good, not great. The highlight of the experience was dessert. The Vietnamese Coffee Tart was delicious. All in all, I was really disappointed. I couldn't even hear people at my table talking due to the loud/crowded dining room, and the service bordered on being flat-out bad. I don't think I will be going back, and can't say that I would recommend this to anyone, unless they were looking for average food in a trendy environment.

This was my second visit to Reef and to say the least it is a cool place to see and be seen at. The food is average at best. The wine list is over priced . Service was first rate. So if your out to impress friends or a date this a great place . If your out for good food skip it.

We had a party of 17. The server didn't talk about the menu items, the drink list, the appetizers. The waiters and bus staff worked very fast as if we were in their way. They plopped down the food & walk away. The waiter was argumentative & combative. Horrible. The only highlight was that the bus boys kept our glasses full. They overcharged us a $40 bottle of wine & an appetizer. Women's restroom, Gross. Automatic flushers not good, manual push button was not very reactive. The hallway was superdark. The fries were not served with sriracha remoulade(all the rage on their website). Had to ask for it. It tasted like MAYO--remoulade it was NOT. I gave a 1/2 star for "Longfin Yellowtail, cucumber water, mint flower". It was partially edible. The citrusy flavor of yellowtail was accentuated nicely by the cucumber water. The sweet sauce (mint flower), awful. The "Cobia, Smoky Oil, Jalapeno Ponzu, Pickled Watermelon Salad" was AWFUL. AWFUL. There were 5 slices of sashimi with smoky oil (not good). Sashimi should be sushi-grade, melt in your mouth, nicely cut pieces with no flaws. It's not like a giant slab of meat, it's the choice cut. The first piece had a bone in it. Yes, a BONE! The second piece had a FISH SCALE stuck to it. The last piece I could NOT chew. I can't even tell you what or why it was so chewy. Like there was a ligament or some other fish part... I disposed of it in my napkin--unedible. Told the waiter who replied,"What do you want me to do?" He stood there like it was no big deal. It was on the bill at the end of the night. Scallops were very salty and burned on what was supposed to be grill lines. They tasted charred and salty and were small. Big Pork Chop was very salty, but it was big. Rolls/bread medicore, salty. 1/2 star for "Molten Chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream". Valet/parking situation awful. Eat anywhere else in Houston: Capital Grille, Osaka, Khyber, Lupe Tortillas, Goode Co BBQ, anywhere... Not worth your time, patience, or money.

My first visit was Friday night; my next visit will be very soon!!! Wonderful fish dishes, very creative and fantastic marriage of flavors with sea food. The chef has definitely stepped outside the conventional box and does wonders with what you might question as accompaniments. We had reservations at 5:30 before the theatre, when we arrived the dining room was almost empty, but within an hour there was a long wait. GO EARLY. Wine is unbelievable and the prices are very reasonable with minimal markups relative to most. I think the ?average? price is a little understated, but a very good value for the money. Sorry I waited so long to try REEF. Bill Floyd is making the rounds to make sure everything is perfect, nice touch!! You must use valet parking as there is no lot and street parking is less than desirable, but it's complementary!!

We tried Reef and found the food to be okay, nothing to complain about, but nothing to rave about, either. The colors are green and blue, which I didn't care for, but that may be a personal preference. My only real complaint is how ungodly loud the place is. Conversation is impossible. If this doesn't matter to you, you might have a good time there.

This place is a complete waste of time for big parties. Fish was mediocre (Pesce and even local fish markets have fresher fillets), service needed to be instructed in proper wine etiquette (who leaves a bottle of white wine open on the table without a cooling agent?), and when the food finally came (1 hour wait), the orders were all completely mixed up. My fiancee received a steak he did not order and my grandfather's steak was cooked properly. So what do they do?

They take both plates back to the kitchen, and promptly deliver my fiancee's rejected stake to my grandfather, and my grandfather's overcooked char to my fiancee.

The dinner speaks for itself. Good luck.

My boyfriend and I made our third trip to Reef this past weekend. We shared the pumpkin ravioli appetizer (super!), beef sliders (hearty!), and a side flash-fried macaroni and cheese (heaven!). The sliders are topped with a dollop of caramelized onions and served with a spiked remoulade dipping sauce. I'd eat them everyday if I didn't have to exercise so diligently to burn them off! To complement the wonderfully prepared food, we ordered wine that was priced just a few bucks over retail. Reef has one of the most extensive and reasonably priced wine lists in Houston. Many of their selections are literally a few dollars more than Spec's on Smith. Now how many places in town employ a similar pricing structure?

My wife and I recently ate at The Reef in thier private dinning room with several other guests. The service was fabulous, the bottled wine prices were very reasonable, the food quality was excellent. The restaurant gets loud with the high celiings, concrete floor, aqua colored wall paint and chrome furniture. Wonderfull wine storage room. Seafood is expensive, but the owner and chef were readily availble to talk about food selections and wine pairings. Very cool.

So go to this restaruant for a casual and loud experreince with friends, but defintely dont go for a cozy and intimate conversation.

I chose to use 3rd Bar inside Reef Restaurant as the meeting spot for my birthday Cocktail Party. Reef was very accomodating and helpful. We had platters that included the beef sliders (delicious), crab cakes (the best I've ever had), spring roll shrimp (great), and balloon crab (great), along with a fruit and cheese platter. My guests were definitely satisfied and comfortable. Reef allowed me to add simple decor and reserved several tables for us in the bar area. We essentially had the area to ourselves. I have no complaints. The Manager Bret was great...always available for me. I would recommend hosting an event at 3rd Bar, you will have a nice evening.

This is a great experience from the minute you approach the door: plenty of valets for the cars; attentive hostesses; a warm greeting from the owner and great food and great wine at a fair price.

My party enjoyed the watermelon gazpacho on a hot summer night; what a triumph! It was refreshing and of a more interesting consistency than any "authentic" gazpacho I had ever been served.
The fish and meats served at our table all generated oohs and aahs.

The bread needs work; both the dinner rolls and "slider" appetizer buns were too heavy to enjoy.

After reading several of the reviews regarding the valet parking issues, we heeded the warning and took a little extra time to walk. Once we arrived we were seated in a timely manner, to our surprise. After sitting down we were fortunate enough to have two staff members waiting on us, which was at first confusing but we quickly enjoyed the endulgence. The staffers did a good job describing and explaining the menu. I started out with a half-order of the oysters on the halfshell and then tried out the redfish on the half shell with the mac and cheese ball side, while my friend tried out the obligatory crab cake. I have to say all the dishes were extremely good and I thoroughly enjoyed the new slant on the way the mac and cheese was cooked. In my opionion I would put this place slightly higher than the Oceanaire. If there was a drawback was that the wait staff tried too hard to push the drinks, but in summary I would highly recommend to anyone the food and the service.

The feel of this place is a great escape on a hot summer night. I had been here about 6 months ago, enjoyed the food and finally made it back last week. A friend had recommended the mussels. It's an appetizer but it's a big portion. They were wonderful!!! We ordered several sides along with it. All were good but surprisingly my least favorite was the friend mac & cheese. I will definately be back as there were many things on the menu that sounded really good.

Having never tried this place, we decided to meet friends for drinks one night. After driving circles around and around the place looking for somewhere to park, the valet waved us down and said they'd park us for free. Good enough. By this time it was after 9pm. We had drinks, then decided to check out the place upstairs called Roof. It was still crowded up there until after 2am, at which point we realized Reef had totally shut down and left us with NO keys to our valet-parked car, thus no way to get in it to drive home. What's even worse was that the car was parked in the street out front with the hazzards on. We were finally rescued close to 3:30am by someone who had to wake up sleeping babies and throw them in the car to drive in 30 miles to bring us a spare set of car keys. What could have been a nice experience was completely ruined by what happened at the end of the night. IF YOU VALET SOMEONE'S CAR AND THERE'S A NIGHTCLUB UPSTAIRS OPEN TO 2AM, YOU HAVE TO TELL PEOPLE THEY NEED TO COME BACK TO GET THEIR CAR BEFORE LOCKING UP DOWNSTAIRS. Why assume people would automatically know this if they've never been before? Just terrible.

REEF is my new favorite restaurant! It gracefully fuses rockin southern spice into modern dishes. I love spice and good wine and REEF gives me both. The crab cakes are stellar, the gumbo is rockin hot, and the main entrees are just the right size. I couldn't stay for dessert but it looked amazing! (So did the lady climbing up and down the ladder for the wine) The service was a little over enthusiastic but excellent. The ambiance was a little loud, but who could blame them.... this is a great hang out! REEF made my birthday memorable and it's about to make my anniversary the best!

The seafood and service was outstanding. Highly recommend the scallops and the fried macaroni and cheese as a side dish. We had seafood shooters as an appetizer and they were very tasty and fun to watch everyone at the table try. The only down part was the bar--drinks were good but could not carry on a conversation in the bar because of the noise level. We will return for the food.

I was there with a group of about 15 people and even with a reservation it took them nearly an hour to seat us so meanwhile we were drinking their super watered down drinks at $10 a pop.
After being seated, instead of the regular menu with the usual specials and complete descriptions and pricing, they gave us this laser printed menu with a choice of 4 dishes and our party's name on it that didn't even include their signature fish dishes. I had been looking forward to the salmon so I ordered off the real menu and knew exactly what I was getting and how much it would be, but the rest of my party ordered out of the 4 specials and got a nasty surprise at the end of the night when the so called "specials" were about $30 more than the average dishes on the regular menu. The dishes were tiny too.

That seems shady to me but we all paid on one ticket to make the server's life easier and overall was very nice to them and on a $1200 tab, left a tip of more than $220 for the server(s) which is almost 20% and what bothers me the most is the servers in plain view were slamming the dishes as they were picking them up and giving us dirty looks as if we didn't tip them enough. I really had to bite my toungue because I knew it would get ugly if I did.

So there you have it. the place is across from a car dealership, overpriced food with tiny portions, and very rude service. There are plenty of classy places to eat at in Houston so skip this one if you want my advice. Oh, and as mentioned there is not even ONE parking spot for this place that's free unless you want to park in the street. And this is isn't in downtown exactly.

This is a great restaurant. Good atmosphere with a great and reasonably price wine list. The sweet potato ravioli are a great starter. The scallops and snapper are both excellent entrees.

I have been to Reef numerous times and have never had a problem with the valet until this past week. Upon arriving home, I realized two bottles of wine and my sunglasses had been taken from my vehicle (yes, I stopped by Spec's immediately before going to Reef). I called Reef, who was apologetic, but I have not heard anything back regarding what they determined. Shame on me for having any trust in the valet.

Take my advice; find somewhere to park on the street. Do not trust this Valet Company.

I had been to Reef a couple of times with friends and liked it so much that I decided to take my husband for his birthday. I am happy to report that this restaurant continues to perform above my expectations. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgable about the food and when we had a question about champagnes, she brought the owner to the table since he picks out all the wines. We had the crab cake, which is one of the best I have ever had, and the fried shrimp with spicy sauce for appetizers. They were both delicious. I had the slow baked salmon with lemon risotto, which is excellent, and my husband had the redfish and fried mac and cheese. The mac and cheese is a very interesting preparation and tasted cheesy without swimming in cheese. We had the chocolate molten cake for dessert and it was excellent also. Although the decor of the restaurant is very minimalist, the room was really lovely at night with the overhead large globe lights. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion.

Pros: Excellent seafood, great space

Cons: Valet parking still hard to navigate

We visited Reef on Saturday night 2/23/08. It was loud, crowded and rushed. Our waitress told us if we did not order immediately our dinner could take as long as an hour to be served. There are no specials because the "chef is proud of his menu as it is". We ordered the scallops and our guests ordered flounder with the mushroom ragout over polenta. Our guests were sick most of Sunday from their meal. We did not finish the 4 scallops shared between us because they were inedible. Perhaps that saved us from getting sick.. The only winner was the crab cake. Order it to go.

Nice restaurant, great location. The scallops are incredible, order the scallops! I enjoyed the decor and will definitely make a return trip. Solid spot, not much more to say!
